    Has anyone upgraded to Monterey on a MBP 2015? How's it performing compared to Big Sur?

    Exactly what I needed to know! Just an addition if I could: you can also back-up your files via icloud. I don't know about Time Machine but I do remember that I clicked on the options for icloud back-up when I first got my Macbook Air and just double-checked to ensure everything is there before I upgrade to Monterey. Many thanks for the great information!

    Hi, I just want to say that your channel is one of the most interesting and useful for my own Mac adventures. Thanks to you I was able to upgrade an early 2009 iMac, after I'd given up on it being still useful.
    Now I'm going to have a crack at installing Monterey final under VMWare. I'll use tutorials for previous versions as a guide - wish me luck!

    If you are running an older Mac mini with the original HD installed, you should either change to an SSD internal or add a NVMe for the startup disk,. The older drive is running at 5000 RPM and it takes a long time to load both the installer and later the login takes forever. Mine is a Mac Mini Late 2014 and I know this from experience. Now running with a NVMe startup of 512GB. The difference is one and a half minutes versus twenty seconds from the time the Apple logo comes on screen.

    Hi Mr Macintosh. Would you be able to show us, how to properly upgrade from an unsupported Mac (i.e. MacBook Pro late 2013) with the latest Big Sur on board, to Monterey using the newest OCLP 0.3.2 with its expanded menu? There’s lots of options, which ones should be ticked, which ticked off. I will really appreciate that.

    Thanks so much for the tips. You know what's funny? When you showed the Creative Cloud Requirements and it didn't have Monterey listed (earlier today I had upgraded the app), I then checked the Adobe website and it now states something different than what was shown to you, "macOS Catalina (version 10.15) or later", applicable for October 2021 release (version 11.0) and later. I don't know if we found different pages from Adobe or if they updated their site after you last checked. Anyway, thanks again. :)

    I used OpenCore patcher 3.1 to upgrade 3 MacBook Pros. A 2009 13 inch, a 2010 15 inch and a 2012 15 inch. All 3 work flawlessly with Monterey. They actually seem to be running smoother and faster. Thanks for all the instructions to help make this happen.

NONO NO NO..

    On two macbooks (intel and M1) that were on Big Sur 11.6 I had to upgrade them first to Big Sur 11.6.1 and then to Monterey. I tried several times to upgrade them directly from Big Sur 11.6 ro Monterey and I was always getting an error. After both were upgraded to 11.6.1, the Monterey installation went on smoothly at first time. I don't know why.

    I am a little weary to make the jump. I have the 2015 (late 2105) 21 inch iMac - which had worked just fine before Big Sur update, and then I noticed that the computer that used to work for me, made me work for it - by constantly restarting, dealing with freezing, crashing etc. I am thinking though - and by following the steps in this video, that I will have hopefully done the upgrade correctly without too many issues.

    • @edwardharley9
      @edwardharley9 2 года назад

      there is nothing Apple will not do to promote sales... They are deliberately lowering the performance of your computer so you will buy a new one.. Do not believe me? That's fine! But they did it with the battery didn't they??? You know what they did with batteries, they slowed them down to promote new sales...???? do not trust Apple !!!

    Thank you Mr Macintosh for your very interesting video about up grading to MacOS Monterey. May I please ask you a few questions which are really bothering me as I am not most definitely a computer expert or whizz kid by any means so I am very worried about things going wrong. For example would the upgrade interfere with any of my normal functions which I have set up at the present time, such as my Audio set up for recordings and for playing? In there words would I need to set up everything all over agin including all of my software together with passwords and so on, or would the upgrade will keep everything as it is now? Your help and advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot. Regards John E

    The best thing to do before updating to Monterey (or buying an M# Mac that will ONLY run on Monterey or higher) is SHOOT YOURSELF IN THE HEAD! I've been using Apple computers exclusively for over 30 yrs. My 2021 16" MBP is far and away the absolute WORST POS of a computer that I have EVER owned.
    It took 3-1/2 months before one of the updates allowed me to use Safari without it crashing EVERY time I went to ANY website. After 11 months, I STILL can't get it to run correctly. What's worse is that, after upgrading (?) the OS on all my other Apple products to match (an iPhone & 2 iPads, plus 2 other MBPs that I did NOT upgrade) it has partially trashed my data across the board! This was the 2nd M1 MBP that I've purchased that did the same thing, as well as one of the first 16" MBP. (The first 16" and the 13" M1 were both returned in time to cancel the order.)
    In retrospect, I think the problem was caused by "Migration Assistant", since there were so many functional differences between the to OS versions. "Migration Assistant" used to be an incredible app, but it is now useless for that reason.
    "Technical Support" was absolutely useless! For all intents and purposes, the 16" M1 MBP has put me out of business for over a year now!
