DISCLAIMER: Installing macOS Monterey on your unsupported Mac is a best effort by the community. A ton of work went into getting the patcher to work! Some things might not work exactly right but it's really really close. I would not recommend installing on a system that you rely on for work or school. ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR FILES FIRST BEFORE YOU UPGRADE! The good news is that you are getting the latest security fixes from Apple. Some might argue that upgrading to Patched Monterey makes your Mac safer since Apple is no longer fixing security issues on 10.14 and below. - Хобби
Finally, a thorough, logical, step-by-step guide for OpenCore Legacy Patcher. A brilliant video that can be recommended to everyone who needs it. Excellent work, sir.
A no nonsense step by step guide to upgrading a Mac, thank you so much
Thanks for taking the time to do this video. Much appreciated.
Your video guidelines to install macOS Monterey is great and easy to follow. Thanks buddy.
Thank you. Much appreciated. Hopefully you’ve got a bit more life out of your Mac!
Amazing simple tutorial, took my MacBook Pro Early 2011 to New heights! Works like a bomb. Upgraded my memory from 4GB to 16GB and upgraded to a SSD drive!! Legend!
Updated my 2013 iMac to Version 14.1 OS. I was about to sell my computer but you saved me. Now I go at it with Adobe Creative. I had so many restrictions before I saw your video and now everything is available. Thank you for your detailed video.
Thanks a lot I wasn't aware of Mac earlier but still able to upgrade the system because of you thanks a lot and keep it up ❤!!!
This is by far the best guide on getting work Monterey on an unsupported Mac, thank you so much for the guide, I appreciate so much... Very useful video!
Thankyou so much for your kind words. It makes it all worth it to here feedback like that.
Just now finished with this install. Did it step by step and worked beatifully! Thank you so much!
Hi guys, few days later after the install, I checked the software update section and Mac OS Ventura shows up as available. Not an expert on the subject, but would it be safe to go ahead with the update? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
Spectacular, this is a tutorial!! without stupid things, straight to the point, congratulations!
How are you, hopefully you can help me out I got everything working perfectly. The only thing that is bothering me is the open court legacy patcher is blocking us to load from system. Recovery, they say that there is a way to unlock this feature. can you please find out and let me know. I am a blind user and can’t find it anywhere.
Worked perfectly!!! I have to say, this video was the absolute first video that got me success in this process! Everyone else left out the bit about holding the "Option" button upon initial rebooting and that made all of the difference! Thank you for your time and all of your help!!! I have liked and subscribed to support your channel bro! Thanks again!
I had the same experience with the option key issue. No other video guide I’ve followed mentioned the problem. Little hinges swing big doors.
Long vid but well worth it. I tried other vids but they lacked clarification and OCP kept failing. Great vid!
Worked flawlessly on my MacBook Pro 8,1 (Late 2011). Thx dude!!!
Very good, clear and steady walkthrough, thanks very much.
Thanks for the clear step by step done in a way that isn't confusing.
This video has gave an absolute newbie the confidence to go ahead an try this... subscribed 😎
Can't talk you enough it really helped me a lot
Thanks a lot to have explain the installation step by step really handy when it comes to the boot from USB to HD 😊
Managed to install it on 1st try on my Macbook Pro Mid 2012, without any issues. Great guide, thank you!
HORRAAYYY!!! Many thanks to you mate.....all working
Thank you so much bro you saved me from buying a whole new Mac just so I can use my apps!!! Thank u 🙏🏽
thanks, it works 100%, sometimes I have a little bug in the menus with transparency but it's a minimal problem, thanks
Love the video, new features look great. Can't wait to try them out.
Worked amazingly, this is the second time that i install monterey, the first one failed so I had to downgrade to catalina, because the tutorial lasted like 43 minutes and teh guy did a lot of random stuff, monterey that time did not work well, i had stuttering, overheating and the apps didn't work. However with your tutorial, which was short and straight into the point, the install of monterey worked like a charm! Thank you!
Fantastic tutorial. Thnx so much for your info and the software!
Awesome, thank you and thank you to everyone that developed OpenCore Legacy Patcher. Great guide, successfully updated my late 2012 Mac mini to OSx 12.6.1 ... took the entire afternoon as I opted to stick with my 2T drive rather than add an SSD, but have 16GB of RAM and an older Core i7 processor, so it works great for me as my 3rd Mac in the house. Thanks again, worked like a charm.
Fsntatstsic! Hopefully you’ll get a few more years of use out of your Mac now!
Bro, get an SSD. It's like one billion times better. The pinch point on the speed isn't your RAM or your i7, it's you drive.
@@atxridebranding9819 That is a crucial point , thanks ...
Thank you very much for the clearest explanatory video I have seen on this topic.🙏🏻
Totally agree 👍 best video for installing Monterey . Thanks for sharing
Works like a charm on Late 2012 with 32gb. Thanks you saved me. My m1 24 died two days ago and for fast resolving i restarted 27. Thanks 🎉
thank you buddy ❤just updated my mid 2012 mbp and it works perfect now
You're very welcome Yuri. May I ask you to like, subscribe and share with everyone you can. Many thanks.

It really works Thanks so much have upgraded my MacBook Pro 13 to Big Sur on opencore and I'm looking forward to upgrade to Monterey when I have time

Thank you!!!!! I installed Monterey on my iMac early 2009. It’s like a brand new machine.
Fantastic! Lovely to hear b
how about performance?
Thx! This worked even with Ventura on a late 2012. Perfect!
So thankful to you for this very detailed and helpful video! ❤😊
Fantastic step by step all done thanks
Thank you so much ,updated a late 2010 macbook pro ,took patience and a bit if panic lik but your instructions were spot on
Thankyou for your kind words. It’s one of those processes that needs some concentration but sounds like you made it to the end! Enjoy and please share!
have you tried installing bootcamp?
You saved my Macbook Pro 2012 model cause I thought this version wasn’t going to install since it kept restarting and loading then finally the desktop showed up. Now I can finally install this app needed to access my military stuff from home🤧❤️
Thank you!! This is brilliant video guide!! Respect!!
A few hiccups, but I was able to update my mid-2011 iMac to Ventura 13.4.1...I opted to try the upgrade install without wiping my information and so far (knocks on wood), everything has been running well and stable. Thank you for the video!
I’m tempted to do the upgrade without wiping my data as well. Are you still happy with yours ?
@@Fralibers , I did end up doing a full wipe (after backing up of course) and did a complete fresh install. Now that OCLP 1.0.1, it resolved the Bluetooth not working issue. However, the assigned keyboard functions, such as the volume buttons don't work and I can't find an option in settings to resolve this. The other issue I'm having, is that when I open Photos and the click on a picture to edit, the picture goes blank. I can see them fine in the thumbnail preview but they won't open (I use Google Photos to navigate around that issue). In hindsight, I probably should have tried installing Monterey, as I believe it's more stable on my iMac model. Besides, those two issues, I'm satisfied because having the enhanced security features/patches is worth it...I think LOL
I agree, security patches are definitely worth it ! Glad it worked out for you 👍 did you do the fresh install because the system was slow or buggy ?
My MPro Mid 2009 work with monterey right now. Thank you so much Bro.
Glad it helped
Just perfect! Many thanks!
Thank you. I love my 2014 iMac with the 27 inch screen but it's not supported. But following your instruction, I was able to install Monterey with no problems. Yeah!
Excellent video great step by step
Excellent video I just got me 2011 macbook pro 17 inch I'm gonna try this as soon its delivered, thanks bro awesome!
No problem! Thanks for the feedback.
Thanks 👍🏾 for explaining it to my understanding. You are the best. I subscribed to your channel
Thank you! This finally worked for me!!
Clearly Explained😊Thanks
Thank you,its works!! with macbook pro 2013 👍
WAO, SUPER PROFESSIONAL, THANKS, THE BEST
Brilliant, easy walk through tutorial, many thanks for your work on this for us mere mortals 8-) FYI I have just installed the latest OCLP 0.6.8 and install ed Monterey over my Catalina install, so far, great.
@@Squickly_ none at all, my brother did the same upgrade on a 2010 Macbook Pro, no issues all. Incredible.
By the way your instructions are awesome!! i watched a different vid. They didn’t mention the end. wow.
Hi great video and something that works when my IT said that my office mac could not be upgraded. 👏👏👏👏👏
Your procedure is the best I just applied it to big sur and it worked like perfection
Brilliant!
@@mactwentyfourseven now I hope time machine would give me everything back..
@@mactwentyfourseven why is it saying that my Catalina back is wrong format I've tried to restore via time machine or recovery mode just not working
@@mactwentyfourseven should I go back to Catalina restore the back up unto the computer .. then upgrade to big Sur without wiping harddrive.. any thoughts?..
I tried this with Ventura and it worked!
Took me an all nighter to get this done 😂😂😂; but the steps were easy to follow… thanks bud
Really clear and so good like an apple ! 😊
Just install Ventura using your guidance on my mid 2012 macbook pro 13 core i5 with 16gb of RAM and 1tb of ssd .. Everything runs flawlessly..... This is by far one of the best guidance on RUclips... Success on first attempt.... Thanks a lot for your effort...
No problem!
Thank god for the northern lad from Blighty! I spent 7 hrs trying to get this to work only to find that the reason I couldn’t get the blooming usb installer to install was because I had created it in my m1 Mac mini choosing Mac pro 5,1 instead of using the Mac pro to create the usb installer!!!! Only thing is I never saw the EFI boot disk icon once Monterey installed but it all seems to be working fine 🎉
Thanks :-) Your video helped me a lot system works great on my Macbook Air 11 A1465 2012r
Nice tutorial!
Great video, thanks a lot!
You’re welcome. Spread the news! Seriously, glad you enjoyed. Share if you can.
Excellent, thank you.
Other than the heavy Northern English accent great video very well explained! Thank U!
Ha ha! Nothing I can do about my accent but at least it was clear and understandable!
A great help. Thanks.

You’re very welcome. Enjoy!
Hey there. I am blind by the way. And I’m trying to get macOS 13 on my old MacBook. Do you know if you have any services that we could call on? Then you could help me on doing this.
@@mactwentyfourseven I can really use your assistance.
I'm attempting to download Monterrey on my
unsupported Mac Air, when the following
error pops up.
“An error occurred!
osascript: can't open default scripting component.”
Everything runs fine up until this point. Any assistance that you can provide is truly
appreciated
@@thxajs try security settings sometimes it blocks outside programmes!!
Thank you so much its working. Thanks to you ı had a brand new macbook
A great tutorial. Have been nervous about installing this on my 2010 macbook pro for a while, but having watched your video took the plunge as it was so clear. Could have put Sonoma on, but I think that maybe pushing this old mac to far and was more interested in having functional mac that would run newer apps than the latest for the sake of it, so installed Monteray I am sure the Opencore boffins have ironed out most of the issues with this version. Works a treat, the only issue so far being that Maps opens but does note display a map. Seems this is because it needs a Metal GPU for this function to work so may be unresolvable, but defo worth the sacrifice for other apps I can now use. Thanks again. Clive
Any updates on this bro? Any problems? i too have a 2010 but am afraid of performance
Thank you so much 👏👏👏🙏
Thank you so much for this video
You’re welcome. Thank you for your kind words.
Worked like a charm. Thanks for the step by step.😀 I was able to upgrade a mid 2012 macbook pro to ventura 13.6. 2.5 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, 500GB T5 BOOTSSD - Data. I notice so far the 16GB DDR is sufficient and the CPU usage is up but not topping out.
Amazing. Thank you so much
Amazing video
1000x thanks!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH YOUR AMAZING ❤
This video helped me well
Everything is working fine on Mac mini mid 2011❤ thank you very much
You're welcome!
what's performance like?
@@cptbrncls7050 Hi. Performance is always based on the age of the computer. I might be a good idea, if possible, to upgrade Ram/SSD if you are able to in order to counteract any imbalance.
@@mactwentyfourseven I have a 2012 Mac mini currently on Mojave. 16Gb RAM and SSD primary drive. It may or may not have some hardware issues though
Thanks so much !

To mac twentyfourseven: Fantastic content!
I’ve been looking for a better guide to install macOS Monterrey into my mid-2014 MBP.
A friendly advice: You may have done your due diligence, but you might want to be careful using the Apple logo for your channel’s branding.
Keep up the great work!
Hi Hiro. Thanks for comments. Much appreciated regarding the content. It’s lovely to know that people are enjoying the video. After all, you never know how people are going to react. I’m trying to push the channel at the moment so noted about the logo. I’m just trying to easily let people know what I’m about but will obviously tweak it if Apple come calling. I think that it would be a massive complement if they did though! Please share if you can and watch out for future content!
Nope i did not work for my old 2010 mac………😢
When you want to blow away Apple Support……tell them that your old mac 2010 like mine runs Ventura………they are speechless😂
@@janbaukespoelstra6839 so it worked after all? You have two comments, one saying it worked, and the other that it didn't.
Dude outstanding guide by far issue it’s installing for more than 3 hrs nothing did I miss something?
Super ❤
Thanks
Thank you thank you very much. Watching this from South Africa and you just made it easy for me to get these unsupported macs. Upgrade internals and resell. Main question if I install a new SSD can I boot on the USB stick and install the above?
Thanks you
