Hello there tried to install Monterey on my 2011 Mac mini without any luck, did everything Matt said but for some reason wouldn’t boot from internal ssd only worked as of usb.
I’ve been stuck on BigSur for too long. Bought a refurbished MacPro a few years back with a non-apple SSD hard drive and everywhere I looked, the update just didn’t work. This finally got the job done. Thank you for the step-by-step tutorial, my machine is running great!
Thanks Matt. Followed your instructions & my 2012 MacBook Pro is rocking Monterey like it was born to do it. That's good enough for me; all I needed was an OS that would run GarageBand and the latest Google Chrome; this build fits the bill perfectly. You rock sir! Thanks!
Excellent and well documented process for updating an older Apple product. Installed MacOS Monterey (Kingston 256 SSD, & 4GB Dual Channel RAM) on a Macbook 5,2 using a 32GB, USB 3.0 Flash Drive. The install was much quicker than I expected and the Macbook seems faster than on El Capitan. Well done and thank you very much for your fine tutorial!
Great instructions! I bought a used 2012 Mac Mini on the cheap, just run a certain program that I needed. My hopes were dashed when I found that it could only install the software on a recent OSX version that the 2012 machine would not upgrade to. Coming from a Windows background, I did not expect this. The patch saved me. Thank you for the video!
Thank you for this info. I installed Monterey on an 120GB SSD from OWC that I had bought for a Mac Mini expansion, in an external enclosure. So my late 2008 MB Pro 5,1 w/8GB RAM now runs OS 10.11.6 from the spiny drive, or with the external plugged in it runs Monterey. It took me a few tries to get the installation right and the 'About one minute remaining' at the end took an hour or more to finish. I have some things that won't run on the latest OS so this gives me two machines in one. Further info on my MB - This machine sat for years, I thought it was dead, because the power supply light was on and the machine wouldn't work. I plugged in my old power supply from another MB by accident one day and this MB came back to life.

I just succesfully installed monterey on my macbook pro 13 mid 2012, took a while though since first I installed it on the wrong drive, so I had to start over again and then when I was finished it started rebooting again and again, I thought it had just got stuck on a bootloop, but I let it do it's thing and it rebooted like 5-6 times before it went on to the setup phase, but now I have monterey installed and everything seems to be working. And now, I can install xcode on my 2012 macbook pro, I'm glad I didn't shell out the extra money for a 2015 macbook pro that would've been officially supported by apple for monterey. Also, I have 16gb of ram and a big ssd in my mbp, would've had to settle for 8gb/128gb ssd base model 2015 mbp otherwise. These opensource guys behind this project deserve my thanks for doing this, allowing people to keep using their old macbooks without them becoming e-waste. I should probably try this on my old 2011 imac as well.
Thank you for this. I was able to install macOS Monterey on my Macbook Pro 17 inch, late 2011, with failed gpu. And bonus, the display is much improved on my previously installed macOS Big Sur. Additonal bonus, I did not have to wipe my hard drive. Awesome.

Can't thank you enough for this video Matt. It has saved me a small fortune. I bought a new MacBook Pro last year because I was stuck on High Sierra on my (mid 2011) 27" iMac with 24GB of RAM and 1TB SSD and couldn't upgrade to the latest levels of PS and LR for photo editing and other software that I use. My iMac was working perfectly apart from that. I was about to invest in a new monitor to go with my MacBook Pro as I missed my 27" screen for photo editing. Your instructions were very clear with plenty of warnings on backup etc. I did have a few squeaky bum moments as I could not get my bluetooth Magic Mouse or Keyboard to connect after installing Monterey. I had to borrow USB versions of both from friends to get past these steps. However, once Monterey was fully installed and rebooted both connected as I would expect. I don't know if you have tried installing this on an iMac, but I would suggest that you recommend to have USB mouse and keyboard available just in case. Thanks once again.
I'm currently doing it on a 27 iMac 2012. Only issues I have found is time machine doesn't restore properly and it went into a bootloop so I had to reinstall Monterey again. Will just run as a fresh install.

Thanks for this video! This was super helpful. I've been a Windows user my whole life and this tutorial helped me so much with my sister's Macbook Pro from 2010. The instructions were clear and I went through the installation with no issues.
With your help, I installed MacOS Monterey 12.5 on three old Apple computers: A MacBook Pro 13-inch Retina (Late 2013), a Mac mini (Late 2012) and an iMac (27-inch, Late 2009). It's sad that these perfectly good machines are denied the latest operating system by Apple. My MacBook Pro already had solid state storage, but by just installing SSDs into the Mac mini and the iMac, they're working great. (Note, the Find My and Maps apps don't work on the 2009 iMac). I really appreciate your help and I appreciate the work of the team who developed Open Core Legacy Patcher.
I also have an old 2009 (late)iMac….I’ll have to give this a go….was a little worried since it’s so old but if it’s working on yours, then no reason it won’t work on mine.
Your video has come at the right time; I have a 2013 iMac disassembled and am going to take out the old HD and install a 512GB SSD outside (I am not going to go thru with opening the iMac anytime soon, at my old age my tolerance with these things are minimal 😂). I have to say that this is the best Monterrey how-to for unsupported Mac hardware. Thank you, sir; you gain a subscriber here 🙋♂️. Stay safe.
Nice video, but absolutely no need to erase your original OS when installing or upgrading your OS. It will install/upgrade over it perfectly well, just as if you'd done a standard OS upgrade from Apple. All your Apps and settings are still there. No need to recover them from a Time Machine backup (although do still make one). Upgraded an HFS+ High Sierra machine to APFS Big Sur with OCLP and it both translated the disk system from HFS+ to APFS as well as did the installation and upgrade to Big Sur. Because that's what Apple does and they're actually doing the work. OCLP just says "Yes, this machine is compatible (wink), over to you Apple." When all the dust has settled, it applies any required patches.
had a bit of trouble on a mac mini 6,1 from 2012. followed the instructions and ignored the prompt to install opencore to the usb after creating the installer, which seemed odd. installed to efi of the machine instead as recommended. maybe i misheard. a short while after starting install, came back to a powered off machine. when powering on no chime, wouldn't boot from either choice after using option key to boot - received a circle with line through it and link to support mac startup website. grabbed a backup mac and installed opencore to the usb installer, made sure to choose correct target model identifier. then was able to complete install. and now can boot off the hard disk no problems. thanks for this guide! all to get automated captions from captionator. now to reinstall my digi 002! lol wish me luck. i'm not frugal you're frugal. if I were to do this again, I would focus on writing opencore to the efi of the usb installer initially and post install would install both opencore to the efi and also the post install patch. the patch said it was already completed but i did it anyways and it overwrote all the files. I used opencore 0.6.6 and monterey 12.6.6. downloaded monterey elsewhere not through opencore. hope this helps someone.
Wow - is all I can say - thank you so much. I’ve been able to use some software that would not run on Big Sur and by following this video and within 24 hours I am running the latest Mac OS. In my mind this is sustainable and good for the environment that I am able to use older hardware without having to purchase a new machine.
I tried the step-by-step on my 2013 iMac ( that is compatible with 24gigs ram ) and at the end it just keeps restarting a few times but eventually got to the setup screen. thank you so much!
My Jaw is Completely in the floor right now mate! I cannot Believe i just updated my $100 offer up purchased macbook pro late 2011 to this OS. I am thankful I am Greatful! I followed the instructions to up until after rebooting and you had us erase our internal hard drives. I was afraid to do it because I didnt have a backup so i skipped that part just for it to still work. Now some the applications that were on my old OS no longer work which i knew wouldn’t because there now outdated. But i can get all the new stuff so im stocked! Thankful for another 5 years with this clunker 😅
This video saved me a lot of time (that I didn't have) to update the old computers in my home. THANK YOU! I had no problems with any step. Good job emphasizing the need to have the USB drive ready.
Wow! Well done for quite the complicated install for the average user. Just a note for those with a 2014 15 " Macbook Pro i7-4770HQ, 16Gb ram, OWC 1.0TB Aura Pro X2 SSD, after using both Big Sur and Monterey, I'm sticking with Big Sur as the performance seems slightly faster. And it is much easier to install an "Official" upgrade. Thanks for the tutorial!
Hii can you help me with something? I did everything exactly like the tutorial and may max works amazing but in my usb there aren’t any patches to install, do you know how can I fix this or what do I do?
You would be better off asking the original poster. SO your usb should work without drivers. Go to "the apple' , about this mac, then system report. The usb and driver should be listed. Hope this helps.@@marygl163
I’m too broke to buy apple products - that’s why I am planning on winning a MacBook Air in a giveaway on this really cool tech channel instead of buying a new computer
I've got a mid 2012 MBP 13, and it's really tempting to do this upgrade. However, natively supported macOS Catalina is smooth and stable (after a few hardware upgrades) and I've got it set up with Windows 10 in BootCamp so, frankly, I'm afraid to mess with anything.
Well, what a great video. Thank you for taking the time to make it. I tried a few other tutorials, had zero success with them, and wasted several hours. I might add that a few screens were a little different from yours along the way but nothing I could not work out. The final part of the installation got to "Under one minute remaining," and it must have taken about 15 minutes. I was beginning to think it had frozen, but it hadn't. Several Apple logo start-up screens kept looping over and over. At that point, I removed the USB drive and shut the PC down. The restart took forever, but eventually, it started up OK. My MacBook Air originally had OS X Yosemite dated Oct 2014 and the PC is a MacBook Air 7,2 so this is a great update, also when I went to run the patcher there were none required and the old PC is running very well considering it only has 4GB ram and is an Intel i5 with 128 SSD.
Hello, I've used your tutorial to install MacOS Monterey on a 2012 IMac and it worked well, thanks ! However, I've recently updated the IMac to the 12.6 version and now the graphics are weird : I can't control the brightness and everything is dark and a bit slower. What can I do to fix it ? should I not make any updates if I install MacOS Monterey with your tutorial ? thank you in advance ! Update : I updated OpenCore Patcher and installed the patches and everything is back to normal !
@@OrcinusLaryngologist it's OK, Im keeping my Mac in Monterrey with the latest update. I get a weird behavior when waking it up when I open the lid and sometimes it gets unresponsive but I think it's a battery issue
Worked. 2010 MacBook pro. The open core software has changed a little but do the same as the video. Do everything the same way. Make sure you download the installer to the right place and the open core installer and if you did everything right you're usually just sitting there waiting for a really long time for things to download and to install. It restarted about 4 times showing the installer and I thought it was stuck in a boot loop but it was just installing.

Thanks for this video, I updated my MacBook pro early 2011 with SSD and 16gb ram, and although now turning on the laptop takes more time the Monterey works really good. Something I've noticed is some last version apps run good and others are not opening, it is a shame as the computer still has a lot of ´life´ and the companies are pushing us to buy the newest gear for access to their programs.
Worked great for my MacBookPro10,2 . Can I use the same USB drive that I used to install Monterey for another MacBook Air or should I restart this procedure from scratch.
Thank you for ur video , I was able to upgrade my Old MacBook Air 2014 & 2015 , and my iMac 2012 - 21.5” to MacOS Monterey after following carefully ur video tutorial….
Thanks Matt, I have just got a 2012 Mac Mini cheap off eBay as my first Apple product (haven't been able to afford one before), it was better than I thought, it came with a 256Gb SSD and 8Gb RAM as opposed to 128 SSD and 6Gb RAM advertised. I've just upgraded to Catalina but can't load a lot of Apps I want. So I'm hoping I can use Opencore Legacy Patcher to bring it up to Monterey 😊
Incredible step by step tutorial! Thank you so much Matt. My early 2011 macbook pro was slowly being rendered usueless and operating very slowly and many apps starting to stop working.... I knew the hardware was still fine and capable but Apple are dirty by not allowing me above High Sierra. I followed this video at every stage after a ridiculously long 1st time time machine backup... my mac had 8gb ram but 500gb spinny HD. However i managed to install OS Ventura 13.6.4 using your steps and opencore 🙌 in 6 hours (honestly thought it would be an all day & night thing - think i was lucky by having 8gb ram) I now have Ventura and macbook is working fast and fantastic again, just need to reinstall my apps and paste my files from my earlier time machine backup. 1 thing to note... upon doing the final step 'opencore patcher - Root patches' i looked at my usb files and the opencore patcher download was NOT THERE only the OS installer... so i worried i may not finish the last phase and fix patches. I went on safari and followed all the instructions again from early in the video when downloading the opencore launcher. Fortunately once it downloaded and opened, it gave the option to 'root patched version' or whatever it says, as i was worried it wouldnt know. I ran the root patch option as Matt showed (except i had to redownload it as opposed to it still being on the usb as it was for Matt) The mac restarted and then i trash canned the opencore app as stated. And boom! All done. Absolutely buzzing by this and has saved my computer. Literally do everything slowly and watch each step in the video as you do it, to avoid mistakes. Thank you Matt you legend ❤
Mate, I had a 2012 imac I bought running on Catalina, and I needed it for Final Cut Pro but FCP turns out cannot be installed on Catalina! I was ready to resell teh imac before I saw your video...went step by step at the same time with you and it worked! well done, really good content!
Great video. The only (BIG) issue is that the new installed iOS has a lot of network issues like: Not being able to connect to other Wi-Fis, once deactivated Bluetooth I cannot reactivate it, Airplay not working (which was the reason for all this). Any idea on what is going wrong? I have searched for hours, but could not find a solution.
Hiya! Appreciate the help with the download! I have a late 2013 iMac with a SATA disk and 24 gigs of memory and my computer is running perfectly!! Thank you for the help and look forward to seeing more of your content.
Great video, very helpful. I was able to upgrade my Mac Unibody 2010 to monterrey and now I am actually getting an update notification from the app store to install Ventura. Thank you
Thanks a bunch, Matt! i've successfully installed Sonoma on my MacbookPro 2012 9,2. on thing that's a little different is that after the installation, i don't see the opencore app. so i didn't install any patches. do I need to download the opencore again and install the patches?

I actually followed these steps today and installed “Mac Os Ventura 13.4” on a 2010 iMac. It was running El Capitan. I thought it wasn’t gonna work initially, but it worked perfectly. Runs smoothly. Unfortunately the camera app now doesn’t work. Also, when you go onto the patches it says “all patches installed already”. Apart from the camera everything else seems to be fine. Thank you
Thx you sir for your hard working to share this tutorial appreciate it and now im can use mac to install all app which is not supported because of the old Mac OS problem😊
after creating installer, there is an error, I didn't take a photo(the creating installer process takes me several hours). but this seems affects the process: I reboot the laptop and hold down option, then select EFI boot--> select Install macOS Monterey, but it didn't start the installing process, instead it boot to my current macOS.
Working great thank you. First thing I get from Apple update is there is an update available, is it safe to let these happen now or will it cause issues?
This saved my MacBook Pro (early 2013). After doing a factory reset, I could not get Xcode to work with Catalina because it was not supported on this Catalina, but now I am running the latest MacOS with Xcode.
So the upgrade was perfect however I now have a notification in setting to update to the next version of OS will this update work or will I need to do the Open patcher processs for the next level of OS

I have to say that this is the best Monterrey how-to for unsupported Mac hardware. Thank you, sir; you gain a subscriber here 🙋♂️. Stay safe.
Fantastic step by step. Without a doubt, the clearest and best tutorial on the web. Thanks from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Good to know you can do this as I had problems upgrading from Catalina to Monterey on a 2012 MBP
had a bit of trouble on a mac mini 6,1 from 2012. followed the instructions and ignored the prompt to install opencore to the usb after creating the installer, which seemed odd. installed to efi of the machine instead as recommended. maybe i misheard. a short while after starting install, came back to a powered off machine. when powering on no chime, wouldn't boot from either choice after using option key to boot - received a circle with line through it and link to support mac startup website. grabbed a backup mac and installed opencore to the usb installer, made sure to choose correct target model identifier. then was able to complete install. and now can boot off the hard disk no problems. thanks for this guide! all to get automated captions from captionator. now to reinstall my digi 002! lol wish me luck. i'm not frugal you're frugal. if I were to do this again, I would focus on writing opencore to the efi of the usb installer initially and post install would install both opencore to the efi and also the post install patch. the patch said it was already completed but i did it anyways and it overwrote all the files.
I used opencore 0.6.6 and monterey 12.6.6. downloaded monterey elsewhere not through opencore. hope this helps someone.
Worked very straightforward in my old MBP 2012! Thank you so much!!! Best video I've seen for this purpose! Thanks, Matt!!!
JUST AMAZING. Excellent tutorial, clear and complete. It worked as a charm. Thank you very much.
Wow.. This open core sounds like something my friends would love to try... I would like to get an iPhone pro when released..
It is great and bring life back to old Macs!
Thanks for a great walkthrough, just updated an old 2013 iMac to Monterey with zero problems, you have a new subscriber here…
Thanks for the tutorial!
can you install Big Sur on a 2012 i5 8gb mcbook pro ?
noted and thankyou
Hii can you help me with something? I did everything exactly like the tutorial and may max works amazing but in my usb there aren’t any patches to install, do you know how can I fix this or what do I do?
You would be better off asking the original poster. SO your usb should work without drivers. Go to "the apple' , about this mac, then system report. The usb and driver should be listed. Hope this helps.@@marygl163
Upgraded a Mid 2009 MacBook Pro to 8 Gb RAM and 1Tb Kingston USB. Using the video I was able to easily upgrade to Monterey. It's working brilliantly.😀
Yo i have 2 kingston usb's but i didnt use those.
I’m too broke to buy apple products - that’s why I am planning on winning a MacBook Air in a giveaway on this really cool tech channel instead of buying a new computer
I don’t think you are gonna win.. Lol

I can respect that. But one day if you ever need to upgrade, the option is there
Well, what a great video.
This video tutorial was simply stunning. Thanks Matt.
This works on my macbook air 2013 with 4GB ram and 128GB storage. It's perfectly usable ! Better than BRAND NEW Chromebook.
Crucial question, I'd like to know too!
Without a doubt, the clearest and best tutorial on the web. Thanks from Pensacola, Florida USA
Great tutorial, thanks for explaining every step even the waiting ones 😂 I got mine fully working on my Macbook Pro mid 2014 with Nvidia graphics
How’s it holding up?
Great video matt! Its really helpful for the people who have older mac
Keep up the good work
Thanks 4 the informative video.
I will try on my Mac 2012, I’m on Catalina right now,I did a upgrade on my Mac,500gb Samsung SSD,16 ram and new battery.
My Mac it’s really fast.
Apple it’s Awesome 🤩
Could you please help me. I did everything but at the end i got a black screen with a traffic sign and apple support link and then my mac mini shuts down.
Yeah same here 😢
Was able to update my 2014 imac to Sonoma thanks to this vid. That and having to replace the fusion drive with an SSD have breathed new life into a slowly fading maching
Thanks Matt for such a detailed and awesome video,I appreciate your time and efforts in creating this!.I plan to buy a Mac Mini in 2022!.Good luck for 400K subscribers Matt🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉🔥🙂!.You are so amazing Matt and I love how simple yet detailed your videos are,They are very helpful

you said matt four times in one sentence i know it kinda seems normal but just read it again
@@juniorabdul1122 first thing i notice 😂😭
Installed this on my early 2015 MacBook. Works great very quick no lag not experiencing any issues definitely think apple could still of supported a lot of MacBooks for longer.
But where is the money? Apple doesnt see you as a customer but as a piggybank.
I have a mid 2012 MBP. If I switch to Monterey, can I do future updates to Monterey thru Apple?
DO NOT DO IT!
@@playipstreamsolutions5538 why? Can you explain
@@playipstreamsolutions5538why not?
No just make a Time Machine, And then use opencore again.
I successfully done my Monterey on my iMac 27 late 2012 thanks and god bless you without this video and you it want be possible thanks again praying God for you
Really helpful, love the fact that you explain everything in detail which makes this easy to do
does it lag on an older mbp
I million kisses to you sir. I have an iMac18 and this was not on the list of supported devices. I went through all the steps as if my computer was an iMac17 instead and everything ran smooth 👏
Thank you soooo much. No one has been able to explain and show this install the way u have. God bless u!! U r amazing and keep up this excellent work. You truly ROCK!! Wish i found u a month ago. But better late than never!
This guy here is a genius hats off to you my friend
Hai I,m Prasenjit Saha from Kolkata,West Bengal, India watched ur useful & very much supportive video upgrading MacBook pro A1278 to os Monterey procedure . Thanks a lot, I,ve to upgrade my old A1278 mid 2012 MacBook pro by ur instructions
Giving time frames on how long things could take helped me out so much because Normally I would’ve gave up with how long some things took😂
Mine is on extracting right now, if you were on that how long did it take ?
Thanks for this video, I updated my MacBook pro early 2011 with SSD and 16gb ram, and although now turning on the laptop takes more time the Monterey works really good. Something I've noticed is some last version apps run good and others are not opening, it is a shame as the computer still has a lot of ´life´ and the companies are pushing us to buy the newest gear for access to their programs.
Thank You for this great tutorial! My macbook pro stoped working and i followed Your instruktions, now it works flawlessly!
The long way but by far the best and only way that has worked for me. Touché 👏🏾👏🏾
Worked great for my MacBookPro10,2 . Can I use the same USB drive that I used to install Monterey for another MacBook Air or should I restart this procedure from scratch.
Thanks for this! Now running Monterey on my Late 2009 MacBook 👏
I am absolutely grateful for this tutorial!!! It worked on my MacBook Pro (mid 2014)🎉
However i managed to install OS Ventura 13.6.4 using your steps and opencore 🙌 in 6 hours (honestly thought it would be an all day & night thing - think i was lucky by having 8gb ram)
I now have Ventura and macbook is working fast and fantastic again, just need to reinstall my apps and paste my files from my earlier time machine backup.
I ran the root patch option as Matt showed (except i had to redownload it as opposed to it still being on the usb as it was for Matt)
The mac restarted and then i trash canned the opencore app as stated.
And boom!
The 2024 type of open core is a little bit diff but this vid helped a lot at works!!!!!’ Thank u do much💙
Great video.
Hi,
When I get to assist before downloading the app it keeps loading and no links pop up.
Do you maybe know why?
No Mac book for me but this was a great video you went at a pace that was easy to follow
It was very helpful. Installed Monterey to MacBook Pro 2014, flawlessly. Thank you !
Hi I have the same machine running BigSur, can I know from your experience how is it performing now, is it worth upgrading from BigSur to Monterey?
Thank you
Something I like about MacBooks.............they can last you a long time........and this clip just further supports that perspective.
Thank you for guiding me with installation on my iMAC2011 - it runs so smooth and quick, much better than my MacBook 2015 Pro, I'm shocked
after you install monterey, you can run system updates normally? I installed last week and now I received an update notification, of OS 12.6
Thanks a bunch, Matt! i've successfully installed Sonoma on my MacbookPro 2012 9,2. on thing that's a little different is that after the installation, i don't see the opencore app. so i didn't install any patches. do I need to download the opencore again and install the patches?
same question
Thank you very much all the way from South Africa
I'm running Monterey on My MacBook Pro Mid 2012 13"
12G Ram
120 SSD(Still waiting for big ssd)
Running smoothly nd fast so far.
Already My Mac want me to update to Ventura 13.5.1 but I'll wait for now
Works perfetly for me!! Now I can Install the last version of Premier and LR on my 2014 Macbook Pro
Just did all that on a Macbook Pro from mid 2014 and it works fine. Thanks a lot very usefull!
Thank you
Thanks dude, the 2011 lives to fight another day!
Wow thanks for everything I just did my macbook pro 2011 without losing any data.
Worked perfectly and flawlessly on my mid 2012 MacBook Air thank you 🙏🏽
Are you able to download apps from the App Store like RUclips or Netflix?
how much ram do you have
Thanks Matt, Great video, instructions were spot on, I just upgraded a Late 2013 Macbook air to MacOs12 Monterey, worked like a charm
Thank you Matt for this video. i followed your steps and i was able to upgrade my 2014 macbook pro OS Big Sur 11.7 to OS Sonoma 14.5

thank you because of you i could update my old 2011 macbook that was running high sierra to Monterey
I have an error occurred while preparing the installation try running this application again please help I got Mac mini late 2012
Have done this myself, and it works fine.
Working great thank you. First thing I get from Apple update is there is an update available, is it safe to let these happen now or will it cause issues?
I have the exact same 2012 macbook pro model still on catalina. Are there any downsides of upgrading in terms of usage? Also great video btw.
This saved my MacBook Pro (early 2013). After doing a factory reset, I could not get Xcode to work with Catalina because it was not supported on this Catalina, but now I am running the latest MacOS with Xcode.
Matt, thank you for video. Catalina Installed on MacBook Pro 7.1 in 2023 in Russia
So the upgrade was perfect however I now have a notification in setting to update to the next version of OS will this update work or will I need to do the Open patcher processs for the next level of OS
Thank you for this video. I tried with another usb stick but it is really slow in writing the data. How long did it take with your usb stick?
