Imagine the little composer girl becoming an actual world famous super star one day. I don't get you people in the comments. She's exactly what y'all been looking for, an actual musical genius rocking and improving mainstream music (next to all the other crazy stuff she does). Sure, I'm also a jazz player who loves improv and sophisticated sounds, but this is good music nonetheless! Have you even listened to the song? People seem to try pushing her into the jazz corner because of the skillset she shows in the genre. Yeah she's very good at jazz, but let her do her own music, it's what we always loved her for, didn't we.

I think she's young and so massively talented that she's still hard to understand. For real. She'll be 21 this summer. She has been seriously composing for 15 years.

I have an enormous respect for musicians who don’t like to stick in some borders and they can surprise me with new style or genre. Because of that I’m so much into their career and want to follow them! Many musicians create great new songs, but you usually expect it to be good and to sound in certain way. But not here. I don’t know what to expect next from Emily! She deserves so much more recognition!!!

@@leaso96 The problem is that there's not much to open up one's mind to. The song comes across as superficial, perhaps designed to appeal to broad audience. I think it's ok to provide critical feedback too, not just praise. It's up to her if she chooses to listen to criticism, praise, or both.

Wrong, i have heard everything she has ever done, own much of what she has published, she is the most complete composer alive today, pretty much nothing she cannot write, from Classical/Orchestral to Hip Hop, been a loyal fan since she was 9 years old.
Close enough to 60 now to call it.
Absolute genius musically, her voice is not remarkable but it is pretty and has done nothing but gotten better.

Michael Al Producers and record companies are always trying to influence artist and mold them to suit their hungry appetites towards commercialism. Point taken though. She is young and hopefully she will have free reign. Think Miley Raye Cyrus. Maybe that will help.

Dear those "advising" Emily to stick to what you think she is best at. There is a reason she is the artist and you are the consumer. Artists need room to grow, to experiment. Emily, you are one of the most talented jazz pianists and composers in the world. I'm sure you've been coached to go the pop route, but that puts you in a tempest of simplistic beats and engineered sounds. What you were doing at 10 was exponentially more compelling and interesting than this to anyone who knows anything about music. You've moved from utilizing a gift that 1/million musicians have to competing with composition skills that 1/100 pop composers have. Why? Do what makes you exceptional!!

Emily's most recent endeavours seem to be focused upon trying to break into pop.
And while I *_love, love, LOVE_* her originals such as: _Dancin', Emotions, Just Leave,_ and of course this latest release, there are hundreds if not thousands of young popstar-wannabes (many of whom have even managed to obtain recording contracts) who simply will not make it.
So for this reason, if for no other, I too would like to see Emily also continue to embrace her classical and jazz roots.

I suppose I'm just a little fed up of the popular mindset that pop music is for simpletons and that jazz and classical musicians should stay away from it. I used to too believe this, but having broadened my tastes, now realise this not to be the case at all! I firmly believe that Emily will continue playing jazz alongside her many talents in pop production, and film music to name a few. So multi talented. Just that doing this genre doesnt bring her anywhere close to her potential. A multitude of pop artists could match her vocals. On the other hand, her keyboard wizardry and composing genius could soar to much greater heights and, in my fan POV, should be her focus. Of course it's her choice how she wants to express herself. Just saying the world could benefit more from what is exceptional in her that really stands out.

The pop music business is the the most competitive and hardest profession in the world to break into.
Finding the *_right 'sound'_* that sells records is not easy, and Emily (like many others) is still experimenting and feeling her way. (The likes of Billie Eilish and Tones & I are 2 exceptions that prove the rule.)
Personally, I think Emily should not abandon her classical and jazz roots, and I think she should also explore further a previously stated ambition of hers to score movies.

My tops: this one has a stronger theme that I still remeber now, strong lyrics. My tips: This is a song to dance to, so where is the beat? Put more emotion in voice and moves, you are sad and angry and strong, show it. If physically possible for your get speach therapy for your lisping.

So I feel ..these pop songs were produced missing one verry important element that would seperate Emily from all the other pop singers. Piano solos ! Bust out some piano solos ..make people stop and say. DAM. These are good songs. But not stand out amazing songs. Emily's piano playing is world class. Lets hear it. Just my opinion.

I think you might possibly be erroneously attributing the song's sentiments as somehow being autobiographical, but Emily co-wrote this with songwriter and producer, Toby Gad, and singer-songwriter, Nisha Asnani.
I believe therefore that the song is purely intended to provide support to those who do suffer from depression and despair.
As for ending the video with a group of people, that is not an easy thing to do currently when we all need to social distance -- and with so many feeling isolated and anxious as result of the lock-downs, this might be another reason why Emily, Toby and Nisha felt it was important at this time to produce a song like this.
