You people can say whatever you like. But for a young piano genius, her vocals are incredible. She's not spent her life developing her voice, but her piano chops.
Here we are. Go to ruclips.net/video/cD56R54d8AI/видео.html skip ahead to 6:12, and hear that same voice but schooled more and matured. She is incredible.
if she took a vocal lessons, she will be great in singing. her voice tone sound good. Yes, she looked nervous when singing, but not in playing the piano.
Wow! This was a treat. I've listened to Emily play all the way up from baby to 17 year old. Never heard her sing. She's nervous but after she gets a little approval that will go away. Mom, I understand, is a singer and pianist.
Well, I've been following Emily's career for years now, and I can assure you that she has never sung publicly before, certainly never on TV or on RUclips. So we are privileged to be some of the first people in the world (outside of her family) to hear her sweet sweet voice in song.
Daniel ben Immanuel My friend Jenny, who goes to NYU and has a personal friendship with Emily, told me she's seen/heard Emily sing live before! It came as a complete surprise to me, and what a delight!
It's not the first time Emily sings on TV. When Emily was the first time on the Ellen Show she sings a few wordt=s also. Emily was 6 year old and you can hear that she havea verry good singing voice. Watch Emily the first time on Ellen. latest song (at the end where Ellen zing alone) Emily Bear - 1st appearance Ellen Show 10/3/07
TFE niname So sorry, but "singing a few words" on "Ellen" does not qualify as singing on TV. And anyhow, Emily acknowledges this here very clearly. Just listen to the first question from QL and Emlily's straight answer.
Daniel ben Immanuel Sorry? What Sorry? Emily sing at Ellen! And whith the few words she singing you can hear she has a verry good singing voice for a sic=x year old! And i never write that she singing a whole song as a oficial performens. But she was realy singing at the Ellen Show. Every professional in music can hear that. The quwation is that Emily can't remember it. If you ever has seen a talent show like Got Talent ot The Voice, and you have watched the reaction of the judges at the first singing words of a candidate, than you can knows that a candidate can sing or not. Watch this Jonathan and Charlotte
All the negative comments about her singing.. you're just not hearing her! She's awesome! She's young and talented, and is able to perform in front of an audience. Ms. Bear, you will go far! 💜
I love her voice and her incredible piano skills. She's a prodigy and a lovely young lady. I love how happy she looks when she's playing and singing...Writing this in 2019 and she's only 17 now and was about 13 here! I've listened to many of her RUclips videos and each one is better than the next. She's a fabulous composer on top of all of it.
Oh My God. I've been following her since she wrote "Northern Lights" many years ago. She only gets better at her music but she can Sing this well too?? I am floored!!! I love her voice!!!!
Exactly KJavio K ! thats a kid and the critics should have some chill, it took us time to be where we r. It's a process and that is obviously in a good process. No one is perfect. Who r u, those critics, to make lame criticism?
Wow Oh Wow Oh Wow!!! It's the first time I've ever seen or heard of Emily Bear. The Girl from Ipanema is my all-time favourite and, being a pianist myself, I know how tricky some of this song can be to play. Emily is so talented and sings so beautifully. Well done, beautiful girl - you are awesome! You definitely play this better than I do. Amazing young lady!
I've been a huge fan from the first time I saw her perform, at the age of 5. Super talented, humble and down to earth. Excited to see what the future holds for her under the wings of Quincy Jones.
her voice gave me goosebumps. Great musician and I loved her intro about being the music being only as good as the personality. She must have a good mentor with Quincy.
I was lucky enough to see Ms. Bear perform her new vocal song earlier this year and her vocals have definitely improved a *lot*. She's filling out all of the potential I saw in this video when it came out :)
WOW WOW WOW, Emily!!! In baseball terms, you have hit the ball out of the park with this super rendition of The Girl From Ipanema!! I am not even ashamed to admit that from the first few notes of your vocals, I could not keep my eyes dry!!! And when it was over, I had to listen again and again and AGAIN!!! I sincerely declare that if you never sang another song again, I could be satisfied (if I had to be) with listening to this amazing performance over and over. Thank you ever so much for sharing your enormous gift with us!!! Please keep it coming!
I had seen Emily sing The Girl from Ipanema in Santa Monica, she sang 3 songs there but my favorite of the three was Lullaby of Birdland she was wonderful as always
Did you see any noticible improvement in her singing from this performance to the one that you saw a few weeks later? I know it is over a short period of time.
Emily sings normaly a lots better, but she was a little nervous. No wonder, it was the first time (after a few words at Ellen when she was age 6) that Emily sings on television. I think, when Emily was singing without playing the piano at this show, she wil sing the song more beautiful and without nervous. But now she must concentrated on two things, O think also, when Emily the next time is plying the piano and singing, on a show she is not nervous. The few words Emily sings by improvisation at Ellen (first atempt) is the proof that Emily have also a amazing good singing voice. Note± Emily sings from she was a baby, and in oerfect pitch )telling by her mom'.
A beautiful performance Emily. I love your singing as well as the piano. You are a true professional. Well done. I hope to hear you singing again. Best wishes.. Maurice.. ♪ ♥ ♫
Part of inteview Bilboard with Quincy Jones about Emily Bear. Is another Quincy album coming? Quincy: Then there's Emily Bear; President Obama calls her "Baby Mozart." She's been writing for symphonies since she was 5 and also plays bossa nova and the blues. She sings "Celie's Blues" from "Color Purple," anything. When we first met her, her feet wouldn't even touch the floor. She just did a concert at Carnegie Hall with a choir and a symphony orchestra. Note: Emily play piano and composed from the age of two. At the tender age of 9, Emily made her Carnegie Hall debut, and performing her own orchestral composition 'We Are The Future' with a 110-piece orchestra and a 220-voice choir + 2 solo singers.

Now listen to one of her newest, "Dancin" and you'll see that her voice and her music is top notch.
Not bad
Not bad at all. My vocals are probably a little bit more worse than this because I am more of a goofy musician.
Chops ???
Tom Jobim would be proud to listen to your performance, Emily.
Luiz da Silveira Really!!
Verdade
Agreed and probably must Brazilian like me too
As a Brazilian I get so happy when the Brazilian music is playing in another country
Once she gets the nerves out of the way, she will be awesome. She is just INSANELY good on the piano.
Nerves never go away unfortunately
@@amadeus5403 no but you can learn to be more confident and are able to take control over the nerves and go on more easily.
I would have never guessed she had a voice like that! Yet one more reason to love her. :)
That voice is smoky and wonderful!!!
Puts me in the mind of Norah Jones.
And can I say.. in perfect pitch!
if she took a vocal lessons, she will be great in singing. her voice tone sound good. Yes, she looked nervous when singing, but not in playing the piano.
WHAT!!!! she can Teach you voicing.
I remember this performance, and now, she's a GRAMMY WINNER!!!
Congrats, Emily! 👏 👏 👏

That jazzy, breathy voice! Love it! Fantastic!!
I just love how everyone just becomes an expert knowledgeable critic all of the sudden when most have not even have come close to a real piano.
Exactly KJavio K ! thats a kid and the critics should have some chill, it took us time to be where we r. It's a process and that is obviously in a good process. No one is perfect. Who r u, those critics, to make lame criticism?
Its the hard truth people... I agree. I love constructive criticism, but this "I think she should stay on piano.." is really useless....
wow this young lady has a lot of talent and she is so young, imagine what she will be playing in a few years from now.
