      Thank you for writing exactly what I was thinking, and the "adult version" of the song, minus the curly-headed girl and obediently cute dog (which were fine for the musical) is a completely different experience. Sydnie made it so. When they enhanced the Golden Buzzer with "Over the Rainbow" I connected Sydnie to Judy Garland at 17 in _The Wizard of Oz_ Her performance allowed the viewer to think of the song as portraying a kid yearning to fulfill her dreams but also (and this became clear as Garland continued to sing the song to the end of her life) to hear the unsure questioning by an adult of whether reaching the end of the rainbow is actually possible. Similarly, Sydnie takes a rather simple and shallow anthem to sticktoitiveness on a child's level and turns it into thoughtful reflection on the trials that an adult facing some new challenge has already survived.
      There was also never a dull moment because of the control Simon mentioned. I never knew what to expect from her voice next but there was never anything static or mushy.
      Bravissima! So happy for her, her family and the audience.

But when she started to sing, we were astounded by her amazing voice. We listened her for dozens of successful years, for she was Barbra Streisand. I had the same feeling with Miss Christmas.

      I agree. She started off sotto voce (literally in Italian 'under the voice', but generally regarded as a quiet voice) and went through the gears and then back again at the end to sotto voce. I really like that song, one that I have known for around 40 years since I first watched the musical 'Annie' when I was a child. I have never heard a version like it. All great singers put their stamp on songs. If she can do that with 'Tomorrow', what can she do with other classics?

Since 2015, depression deprived me of the ability to cry but for the first time after 8 years, I felt tears flowing down my cheeks. I felt human again. Thank you....God bless

    If she doesn't have 'IT', nobody has! She made 'Tomorrow' a totally brand new song, like an artist painting a true masterpiece on an oh so, ordinary piece of canvas. It makes me wonder what she did with the song at 4 years of age. She's also a real entertainer, and I believe there is so much more to Sydnie, than what we've just experienced. She has that ability (truly creative) to make something out of nothing.💝💖💝

    From America, I’ve watched her every day since it posted. I’ve sung over 3,000 solos (not in show business, in churches), and singing live that many times, I’m blown away by every single nuance of musical and vocal choice she made, not to mention her presentation and stage presence, and all in such a hugely important audition as BGT, she far exceeded in a single performance what most only could dream about. What a genuinely lovely, endearing human being.

    I don't see why people are claiming it's rigged. Yes, she's been on stage before. But anyone in the industry will tell you that doesn't mean you've made it or have been truly discovered. You've got to fight to be noticed. Being in a few shows doesn't guarantee you'll be in another. She has every right to perform for a chance.
    And I hated that song until I listened to her sing it. I no longer hate it. Heck, I'd buy that single! I haven't heard someone sing like that in a long time. Gold buzzer well deserved.

      If people knew, how many contestants were already doing these things for a living before they come on these shows, they would probably freak out....also producers, also TV. All the shows are pushed for ratings not for competition purposes. The "Best" talent is rarely the one who wins, the most popular is but sometimes they coincide with each other.

    • @CharlesNelson303
      @CharlesNelson303 8 месяцев назад +6

      @@punknaught It's kind of a no brainer. Incredible natural talent without any practice or performance is astronomically rare, these shows wouldn't exist if they didn't pull from pools with experience. They are, at the end of the day, entertainment, and entertainment doesn't necessarily mean most raw talented. Half of the vocalists in leading Rock, Pop and Rap groups wouldn't stand a chance in a vocal competition yet they sell out arenas. Performance, marketability and mastering are what makes musicians.
