What about IBIS without gimble and it's low resolution dim display? I have read that both IBIS and display are worst in this class compared to canon R6 II and Panasonic S5 II. I am also worried about overheating in the summer when hiking a little bit. I also read it's not very enjoyable to use with complicated menus and uncomfortable grip and knobs. Would you recommend a7 IV to someone who just wants to carry as little as possible (no gimble, no external monitors, no cage + lightweight f2.8 zoom lens without OIS) and does photography and video as a hobby?
Every camera in this class has a less than desirable display to be honest, so I wouldn't base your opinion on this. I've put this camera through hikes in Asia recently in hot and humid conditions and it has been absolutely fine, no issues. I'm confident you would have no issues. I find the menus on this camera to be fairly straight-forward, a big upgrade on what previous Sony Alpha cameras had! For those requirements, this is a phenomenal camera, it is a brilliant hybrid camera which will more than cover those bases, it takes fantastic photos and can handle itself well without any accessories. That's how I run it on my travels and love it.
Thanks for the great video, answered a lot of the questions I had looking into the Sony a7IV, do you think it's worth upgrading from the Sony a7III? I love my a7III but I'd love to get more into colorgrading and I'd also love to be able to shoot 4K 60fps video, kinda answered my own question but I'd love to have a a7IV user's pov :)
If your needs are more video focused I see the upgrade as more worthwhile as the new features etc are more video focused. Both cameras shoot great video the A7Iv just has those extra features to make it a better experience, screen, and features.
I've not used the Z6 II so unfortunately it is difficult for me to give a balanced argument however I know both are great cameras and will cost likely fit your application well!
Great video. So tempted to get this camera. I've had an a6300 since 2017 and think it's time for full frame finally. Would you recommend the 24-70mm f/2.8 Mk II for my first lense?
Loved every second of this video! I bought the A7RV thinking it would be a step up from the A7iv, but it really wasn't. Although the EVF and Higher Res screen were very nice. I sold it 2 weeks ago and continued to use my A7iv. B&H released their YTD sales and the A7iv is in the #2 position - which is insane for a nearly 2 year old camera with no discounts. Speaks volumes to what a BEAST this camera is. Technical question - is there any way to program a custom key to lock tracking a subject in video mode? Right now, the only way I can get it to work is using the touch screen. That's very inconvenient in bright conditions when using the EVF. Keep up the great work!
Yes, it's mightily impressive. Especially for a camera which launched in November 2021. In regards to your question, that's not something I've found so I think it is touch screen only unfortunately. Thanks for the support on the video, really appreciate it.
I connected the HDMI port from my Sony A7 IV to a 4K TV, i see it well, everything all ok. But if I shoot myself eg. Vlog I have everything reversed on the TV screen. This it a big problem for me.
