50mm is definitely one of my favorite focal lengths for video interviews when I have space. It just comprises the background so much and makes the subject stand out nicely. I think this is one of the most important lenses for the L-mount system but what I'm really excited about is the 24mm 1.8. If Panasonic can price it similarly to the 50mm and maintain good quality, I think it will be a huge hit and draw a lot more users to the L-mount system.

Your video looks great and the price of the 50mm is great (now), but after trying I realized I have had better 50mm lenses than this. I will say this, at least it’s not as bad as Canon’s.
Jimmy Garoppolo, is that you?
Great price for the nifty 50, but it makes the 50mm f1.4 look wayyyy overpriced!
Well, the 50mm 1.4 is one of their pro line lenses and there's many pluses to it... it's just a lot more specialised than the nifty 50!
@@JoshCameron also the 1.4 is virtually an Otis reference lens which is in a class of its own.
Over £400? Good grief. MFT prices spoiled me, haha. Then again, the Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 costs £300. L mount is such a posh mount lol
haha! £429 is actually a very good price for such a fast and lightweight lens in my opinion. FF lenses tend to be more expensive than crop sensors, and the L Mount is a more premium mount than some others hahaha!
To be honest though, it's definitely worth the price!
@@JoshCameron I'm definitely getting it when/if I get an S5 but man, that 25mm f/1.7 is less that half of this lens. Then again, the PL 25mm f/1.4 costs the same...
@@AoyagiAichou but mft lens never become full frame
