    If anyone is still on the fence about the Panasonic S5, just read this:
    1. Full Frame 4.2.2 10 bit
    2. Unlimited recording in 8 bit 4k or 10 bit 1080.
    3. 5.9k external RAW
    4. Anamorphic support built in
    5. 180 degree shutter angle
    6. Removable rubber slot for Dummy battery cable
    7. Dual native ISO
    8. Great battery life
    9. Extremely reliable. No overheating in any modes
    10. $1700 on Amazon.
    11. Built in time lapse that creates the video in camera.
    12. Great low light performance
    I sold my Fuji XT3 to get it and its the best camera I've ever used. Im just waiting on a L mount Panasonic Cinema camera now.

      @@JoshCameron you’re singlehandedly almost convincing me to get the S5 over the Z6ii, which is inferior in pretty much everything video-wise... except autofocus... and you’ve kinda proved that it can work pretty consistently.
      Do you get this weird gh5 style pulsing when acquiring focus after pretty large focus shift? I can’t see any in your vids, but.. uno

    • @JoshCameron
      @JoshCameron  3 года назад +2

      @@JustChris97 Honestly dude, you will not regret it! If you're shooting more video it's a no brainer. I've never had any of that pulsing happen for me, and I use the AF for all of my RUclips talking head portions as well as for some interviews I do for my professional work too.
      If the AF is the ONLY thing holding you back, then honestly I'd say look past it, try it for yourself and really take advantage of an ergonomic little cinematic beast!

    • @WilsonWongWilzWorkz
      @WilsonWongWilzWorkz 3 года назад +1

      @@JustChris97 i would say too, the new firmware on the S5 has improved the AF to the point I did not look at the Sony system that much. Coupled with the fact that the price of the S5 is cheaper than any of the Sonys except the old A7iii, it is very close to be a no-brainer.

    Great video as always Josh! I'm amazed at the quantity and quality of information you can pack in a five minutes video, it's impressive. Your videos were one of the reasons that I ended up going ahead and getting the S5, and for anyone reading and what it's worth, I can't really praise this camera enough. I feel that it's been so unjustly portrayed by the RUclips community (mostly) when in reality, this camera does everything you can possibly need for any professional application and still some. 50mm is definitely one of my favorite focal lengths for video interviews when I have space. It just comprises the background so much and makes the subject stand out nicely. I think this is one of the most important lenses for the L-mount system but what I'm really excited about is the 24mm 1.8. If Panasonic can price it similarly to the 50mm and maintain good quality, I think it will be a huge hit and draw a lot more users to the L-mount system.

    • @JoshCameron
      @JoshCameron  3 года назад +1

      Hey Jeffrey! Completely agree with you here. I also love the look that a 50mm gives for talking heads sort of shots and anything where you can put your subject a bit further away from the background.

    I have just acquired this S5 and I am very happy with it 🙂 On the other hand, I have a question, if you can answer it I would appreciate it.
    I know that this device has the IBIS or a floating sensor. However I am aware that the sensor moves when stopped but is it normal that in operation, it can still move. (Much less but it moves a little depending on the movements made)
    Can you tell me if this is the case for you? If it is normal? Thanks in advance

    Hi Josh, looking to pick up an S5 and a zoom, looking at either the 24-105 4 or the new Sigma 28-70 2.8. Have you had experience with the Sigma? Also, have you tested the weather sealing on the 24-105? This is going to be for paid video gigs primarily so good weather sealing is a must. Of course I'll be picking up the 50 1.8 too!

    • @JoshCameron
      @JoshCameron  3 года назад

      Hey! So I haven't used the 28-70 myself but it does look like a very good lens. The 24-105 however does have OIS and it is weather sealed, making it a really great lens for video.
      If I had a choice between the two, I'd pick the extra reach on the telephoto side and the extra wideness at 24mm if it's going to be your 'everything' lens.
      I use the 24-105 for literally all of my paid video projects and it's served me extremely well!

    • @-dubu

      Having used the cameras for some time, is there a killer feature of the S5 that you couldn't live without if it broke and you had to use the S1? I don't plan on doing gimbal work so the screen and size are fine for me personally, it's a really hard choice to make!

    Thanks for your video.
    Managed to grab s5 camera with 20-60 kit lens + extra battery + shooting grip + 64GB memory card + PANASONIC S 50mm 1.8(white box) for £1600 (this is like just a cost of body only normally)! From UK Digital. Maybe they will have same deal over Christmas or anytime again.
    My first proper camera after 2012 Fuji bridge camera. Like it! Will have to dig into it a lot.

    I'll stick my manual Zeiss 50mm 1.4 >< It's a good price but for a 1.4 lens maybe...

      I think it's really well priced when compared to the rest of the L Mount!

      @@JoshCameron Yeah maybe, my personal needs got in the way 😥 nifty fifty is always good, but I'd go with the sigma 65 f/2 if i had to buy one lens

    Your video looks great and the price of the 50mm is great (now), but after trying I realized I have had better 50mm lenses than this. I will say this, at least it’s not as bad as Canon’s.

    Great price for the nifty 50, but it makes the 50mm f1.4 look wayyyy overpriced!

    • @JoshCameron
      @JoshCameron  3 года назад

      Well, the 50mm 1.4 is one of their pro line lenses and there's many pluses to it... it's just a lot more specialised than the nifty 50!

      @@JoshCameron also the 1.4 is virtually an Otis reference lens which is in a class of its own.

    Over £400? Good grief. MFT prices spoiled me, haha. Then again, the Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 costs £300. L mount is such a posh mount lol

    • @JoshCameron
      @JoshCameron  3 года назад +2

      haha! £429 is actually a very good price for such a fast and lightweight lens in my opinion. FF lenses tend to be more expensive than crop sensors, and the L Mount is a more premium mount than some others hahaha!
      To be honest though, it's definitely worth the price!

      @@JoshCameron I'm definitely getting it when/if I get an S5 but man, that 25mm f/1.7 is less that half of this lens. Then again, the PL 25mm f/1.4 costs the same...
