    This was my second air fryer ruclips.net/user/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB . The last one worked fine but was large and a bit loud. This one is outstanding. It is smaller overall but still has plenty of capacity. It crisps the food better. You don't get one side soggy if you forget to turn it over. It is pretty quiet, easy to use, easy to clean, and works great. It chimes to alert you to functions, like when to turn over food that benefits from that. The automatic pre-heat is great. The display is large and easy to read, the light inside is actually useful. The window is worth the extra $10. It looks good sitting out on my counter. I haven't been this happy with an appliance for a long time. Good value for money.

    Good video! I got my tabletop convection oven about three months ago. A few other great uses for it:
    - Most frozen foods that you put in the oven. They bake quicker in these and it takes far less time to pre-heat! Frozen soft pretzels are a personal favorite of mine; I can usually whip up a quick cheese sauce while it preheats then bakes, which takes maybe 4 minutes and 2 minutes respectively.
    - Sandwiches! These are basically a step down from the convection ovens they use at places like Subway, so you better believe I put my open melts in an air fryer nowadays. In fact, I'm going to go do so with some pre-made seitan and cheese after writing this comment...
    - Keeping foods warm! This can be especially helpful when you're making a complex meal where you need to keep several components warm by the time you serve it, or when you're making something like French toast. Just put it on "reheat" and select the lowest setting. This can dry out your food if you let it there too long, though!
    - Leftovers in general! So many leftovers just reheat much better than in a microwave. I was already pan-frying pizza to reheat it, but reheating pizza in a convection oven is phenomenal.
    A general tip: buy spray oils. I never used them before this, but many foods do benefit from just the lightest touch of oil before going into the convection oven to get that extra bit of flavor and crisp. That aside, I've done all sorts of other silly things in a tabletop convection oven. Baking a single cookie, for example.

      You don’t want to use spray oils because they cause the nonstick to peel. Better to just get a glass spray bottle and fill it with oil

    Beef jerky, dehydrated fruits for chocolates, toasted perfect chicken, perfectly reheated takeout, French fries, Croque Madames! Literally anything.
    This is exactly the kind of video I’ve hoped would come from NYT. That Melissa Clark is hosting is just perfect.

    Great video from Melissa. We were given an air fryer over the Holidays, and this basic tutorial was an enormous help in starting out. We've had great success with sweet potatoes, carrots, butternut squash, pork chops, game hen, and even a whole chicken, which turned out crisper, juicier, and more evenly cooked than any oven-roasted or rotisserie chicken we've ever made. We're looking forward to trying out Melissa's cheesecake and chicken breast recipes soon.

    I have the Breville one and use it at least once a day everyday. It’s pricey, but pays for itself since I use it so often and you can do so much with it that maybe with an average air-fryer you can’t.

    Melissa--- YES. Cheesecake alone is enough !!!
    I had no interest in an Air Fryer, for my range of foods. However you've used my actual Recipe for this Cheesecake (once listed in NYT as the Famous Lindy's Cheesecake!!!) , Yet I usually take 15 minutes at very high heat, then 1 hour at a a 200degree heat, then fully cooled in oven, then refrigerated overnight. It is a process that requires remaining at the Kitchen, over 2.5 hours or more!!
    I know how good that Recipe is. --- so I know how great your result is. My most requested dish!!

    I’m coming out with a toaster oven that is smaller, and uses the power of conduction and convection to cook your food at the same time or slightly faster while allowing you to cut calories by removing the fat AND the flavor. It’s only going to cost 89.99 and it will fill the space on your counter where your personal grain mill was. Toast was always meant to be served in 1/4 slices, you just never could before!

    I'm not a big fan of the toaster oven style air frier. It's basically a regular convection toaster oven. A drawer style air frier has a big fan to push the hot air around much better. The drawer also makes for easier cleanup, since that's where most of the mess stays. Depending on your model, you can just pop it into the dishwasher.

    • @MitchDussault
      @MitchDussault Год назад

      Exactly the reasons why I got my drawer style. I purchased an oven style first and wasn't impressed with the nightmare cleanup and lack of even browning. Also, the second tray some models allow for never cooks since the fan has to go through the closer tray first. So that was a useless "feature."
      One more down side: none of the toaster functions of the oven style toast evenly compared to a regular toaster or toaster oven. It only blasts one side quickly while the other side remains untouched. Nobody wants to flip toast. Just get a cheap toaster.
      The only downside of the drawer style is the lack of window to see how it's doing without opening it up. Otherwise, it's a stronger and more direct blast of hot air that cooks quicker and more evenly.

    • @amysteele6540
      @amysteele6540 Год назад

      Exactly! People who say that a convection setting on a home oven is the same as an air fryer have clearly never tried the drawer style. It changed my life!

    I’m still not convinced. So she made a cheesecake in 25 minutes less cooking time- but it still can’t be eaten until the next day. The sweet potato fries cooking in a single layer would not be enough for a family of four, and boneless, skinless chicken breasts can be cooked either on or in a conventional stovetop / oven in just as short a time. The key is preparation. And it is a bit disingenuous not to include the time needed for the often arduous task of cleaning those baskets.

    • @melorun6029
      @melorun6029 Год назад

      Air fryer sweet potato fries suck. No one will convince me otherwise.
      Air fryers are solid for chicken wings and frozen fries or other pre fried frozen things. They’re pretty decent at roasting in small quantities.
      Other big plus: not turning on the oven in summer.

      I'm sure for demonstration purposes she did small amounts, but you gotta remember it only fits enough food or 1 or 2 people the small one or 3-4 the big ones. But even the small ones it can fit like 3 chicken breasts and 3-4 times the amount of fries she put in but you need to make sure to constantly mix them to ensure even cooking

      You don't need to do just one extremely even layer. We make frozen fries in ours often, and we can usually make more than even for two people in one batch if we shake it halfway through. They're also ready in half the time of a normal oven.
