  • This Old 555 Ford Back hoe has definitely been a learning experience, but I'm finally able to put it to use today! see what breaks this time and how I fix it!

      Capt’s tenacity and willingness to try new things has inspired me to do some welding. Mike, if you’d remember me mentioning that to you before about welding….you said, ‘just give it a shot.’ Well, I did! And it turned out half decent! Thank you!

      Capt, a suggestion for that hydraulic fitting… 1 3/4 then try to find a piece of metal pipe about about the same size… and a small piece of hose to “join them pipe to the existing piece with hose clamps…then do the same on the other end connecting the pipe to the hydraulic hose you bought… hope this makes sense….

    She certainly sounds sweet, which is credit to all the hard work you've done. Let's not forget as we get older leaks become a fact of life, how old is the 555? 🤣 At least she's not stuck in a care home, but able to live out in the community, feel useful and has someone to care for her. 👍🤗

    I’m glad that you rescued a still good piece of equipment from being scraped Mike, I bet it feels good to you! There’s going to be problems until you get her up to par again but that’s obvious just don’t get discouraged !     Ask Aaron to weld a reducer to on both sides, make both inch and half. Less specialized hoses equals less expense.

    What can I say. Your dedication to making non-stop action videos is impressive. Who else would blow so many lines for their audience.
    It is a sign of spring coming when wasps start to bother you. At least you won't have wasps setting up shop in your lungs, with the amount of spray you must have inhaled.😅

    That Power Steering pump on the front left of engine has it's own reservoir.
    Take the cap off and I bet it's empty. Those pump seals are known to leak PS fluid into the crankcase oil, diluting it. So I have in the past used the same engine oil in that system, occasionally draining off the crankcase as needed to keep proper level until I get time to remove pump and reseal.

      Wow That's bad. Your right that needs to be the next project so you don't burn up the pump, needing a simple reseal. But they are plentiful replacements on the web.

    cool my dad in late 70s had a case backhoe that thing constantly broke he dug foundations for new houses he was poor.but every sunday after church i was just little then he drug me with him and my german shepard and we had to work on it so it was ready for monday.we lived in mn so it was always so cold shivered whole time for hours

    Those 10 gallon port-a-tank air tanks are nice to have on charged 150psi standby to bring out into the country to top off tires and what not. (no batteries or electricity needed)

    I admire the tenacity of working through those hillbilly addons, finding simple ways to keep it in operating order. If it was going to a job sit, the money needed to make it a commercial machine would happen just as if it was your work truck... just that simple. I don't see it going to Sema for the battle of backhoes but who knows, It is the Kleeman channel so expect the unexpected to stay in the winning loop. Keep it simple is the absolute right way and ya did gooder than heck

    I love that backhoe. I grew up in a little tiny town of around 140 people and that’s what the city owned. It was the town work truck, snow plow, excavator, loader; he literally used it everyday for everything. It was named “Old Yeller”

    Hey pal my power steering on my 4610 ford acted the same way. I got a rebuild kit for the pump and it works great now. From what I seen on your video the power steering is the same as mine. Always love the videos

    Great work I hoped you would get lucky with the hydrolic lines as that's usually the expensive part of saving older equipment. But she is getting these and is now able to be worked, she will soon have herself paid off with the extra work you can get done round the homestead

    Are the wasps paper wasps? If they are, my wife went to a local thrift store (Michael's) and bought fake wasp nests and hung them around the yard. The wasps seem to be territorial and usually stay away. However, back in 2010 the wife bought a bright yellow Chevy S10, she said it attached bees and stiff young men. She finally got tired of all the buzzing around so she sold the S10🤣😂🤣

    Brak-kleen works great for hornets with the benefits designed in. CRC makes one non flamable, my faverat also fire a fire extinguisher.

      @@CaptainKleeman nothing aganst wasp spray just more positives for using the brake kleener. Wasp spray is great for wasps and handy to keep a can near the entrance door to your home. Nothing else (legal) will stop an intruder faster than wasp & hornet spray in the face!😁

    She runs good, turns right on. You will get all the kinks worked out of it eventually and then have a great machine for your home.

    Mike, great work on the old 555 so far. I've seen a few mechanics use the 1.5" hydraulic hose on a few machines by heating the hose end with hot water and using liquid soap to force it over the end far enough to clamp it. It can be a struggle though. I pray you and the family stay safe and healthy

      I can't see that working, it may soften the rubber, but i can't imagine it softening the steel braid

    Yeah, buddy. I go through the whole gamut of emotions watching Capt K. At first I'm amazed at the comparison of a holster and a cup holder. Not one out a billion would make that comparison. But then the very rare Kleemanpithicus screams like a little girl over a little bitty flying insect. I just don't know what to think anymore... lol
