    pressure test the underfloor heating for leaks before pouring the concrete floor :)

    • @Derek_61
      @Derek_61 18 дней назад +16

      I totally agree. I had to lay 1.5km of underfloor heating and pressure tested every loop. In my case I found one of the pipe coils had been rolled over some old carpet grippers and had made a pin hole in the pipework. Without pressure testing I wouldn't have known until the finished floor was down. Each of those crimped joints is also a potential source of a leak as well. Pressure testing will give peace of mind before the screed is laid as you will know that every pipe and joint is fine 🙂
      I would also suggest taking a photo of the pipe runs with tape measures laid on the floor before screeding (or concreting). If you have to fix into the floor in the future this will provide a record of where the pipes are and you can avoid hitting them.

    When you get around to adding a wood burner to the circuit take care with flow temperatures. Wood burner run hot which works ok with traditional radiator systems. You'll find your pipe has a max flow temperature around 80C and generally you'll be running much lower (30C ) so you'd want to be 35-45C at the manifold. Swap to copper between the manifold and wood burner.

    Normal you can't have connections in the floorheating unther the cement.
    Please protect the connections with tape around so that the connections don't have contact with the cement for longer protection from oxidation.

You could have gone from one wall to the other and then come back again, etc. That is what we did when laying in-floor heat for a two store house, workshop and garage. I've watched all your videos, starting nearly at the beginning and going back to see what I'd missed. You've become one of my few 'watch as soon as it's loaded' RUclips channels because you are so calming. As others have said, even when things don't go as you planned, you find a way to move forward. I'm grateful to you for being open about both your positive and your stressful experiences; it helps me to see the whole picture of all that you are doing.
    I just finished a much smaller plumbing project using plastic pipe (re-building an old camper trailer), and I'd love to know just what pipe that is that you are using. I used CPVC. I'm no expert, but I don't know of any plastic pipe available here in the USA that is flexible yet will hold its shape after you bend it. Probably just ignorance on my part, but using it sure worked well for you!
