The SNOWIEST Day in Lake Tahoe! HUGE Snowstorm Hits Lake Tahoe
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 28 сен 2024
- Lake Tahoe was slammed with a mega snowstorm this past weekend (December 10th and 11th, 2022). I have never seen that much snow in Lake Tahoe or anywhere really! The storm turned Tahoe into a winter wonderland, but it wasn't without its issues. Cars were buried and residents were without power for days. P.S. I managed to eventually get my car out. 😂

We have some snow in Sparks, but nothing like you.
A beautiful winter wonderland
You are living in paradise, lake Tahoe is a wonderful magical place!!!
yes Tahoe is a magical place 💙💙 living here has been quite an experience ❄️
It really has been an absolutely wild amount of snow.
This week has been a full-body workout in Tahoe... upper-body workout from all of the shovelling, then great leg-days on the slopes and snowshoeing!
Right?! im happy we are getting a break from the snow for at least the next 10 days..and yes i felt it in my lower back and arms like crazy
@@GabriellaViola I feel like I could use a chiropractor for myself by now. Can't get enough though... heading out to Heavenly as I type this!
Great channel, keep it up Gabriella
Do you live in lake Tahoe? My sister lived in Truckee
Hi I recently found your channel/videos. Great info packed in there as well. We visit Lake Tahoe a few times year but there are so many things we don't know about. I learned about a few hikes and the hot springs recently from your videos. I had no idea the hot springs were so close.
I'm hoping to watch more of your videos today and find some winter ideas for an upcoming 2 day visit. One or two of our friends have mobility issues, so we are looking for memorable ideas to enjoy as a group. We really enjoyed the dinner cruise and snow mobiling on our last trip so we are looking for more adventures. I'm excited to see what you have shared.
I've spent every Fall and Winter in Lake Tahoe when I lived in California. I love it in any weather!
agreed its hard to pick a favorite season!
We went there last week and luckily we were able to leave Tahoe before the storm as we had to drive to LA for our flight. Beautiful place
So glad you got out safely, i hope you caught a little bit of the snow during your stay 💙
Been there done that, many, many times !
Love the snow ! Wow is that footage incredible!! thanks for sharing😊 We gota get you a dog sled with 10 Siberian’s. You look adorable in your winter outfit
haha yes I can use one of those! thank you Allan!
Still beautiful.
We are still sunny here in Israel.
Again thank you.
Enjoy that sunshine!
Thank you. My sister and hubby live and work there, John Rice [Sierra Tahoe] so your video gives me a good idea of what they are going through.
You are so welcome! ive never seen it look like this so i thought it would be great to share
@@GabriellaViola When the Donnor Party got stuck at Donnor Summit, the snow was 20 feet high.
Looks so amazing, been stuck up in homewood like that years ago... I am down in CP, no snow here...
Imagine the Donnor party 40 feet over the winter.
i can't even imagine! ive seen a few video stories on the Donner Party
i grew up in slt from 1961-1975 we had a monster storm in 69.twenty foot drifts.snowstorms like this recent one were quite the norm back then-no big deal.
I need to google it I would love to see pictures of that storm! for me its been the frequency this year, havent seen it snow so much but its been fun to witness!
For some of us as youth we saw 4-5 foot dropped in 36 hours. We get a foot and a half now and its the end of the world. The old storms come back and you’ll be sending sos signals to be rescued.
Boomer
I was there last weekend and see about 3-4 ft drop in 24hrs
haha at one point i felt like i might have to! I was so happy to get my car out!
@@GabriellaViola
Don’t get my comments wrong, any snow fall is good snow fall! It’s just some of us have seen massive storms and this was a good one. But back to back to back storms? Yes !
@@GabriellaViola i see you’ve been to my place of birth. Mt. Shasta!
Thanks
💙😄💙😄💙😄
Yeah, it was awesome, but nothing compared to big storms…. Look up Donner Summit in 2011 - we had 18 feet on the ground at our cabin - not all from one storm but still, we used to get 6-8 in a storm.
Omg that sounds crazy!!! must have been equally fun and scary to experience that much snow ⛄️
If you more than double this, it will be close to years past . Decent dump nonetheless. The most I have seen is 13 feet in 3 days with about 6 feet coming in 1 day.
that’s surely an exaggeration, what year was that
@@ladder3257 1994 or 95 and recently 2017. Same year June Lake got 72 inches in 24 hours, Mammoth got over 20 feet in the month. 209 inches official.
@@GT-mn3bx definitely not 2017 with more than 5 feet in a day in the Tahoe area, but i believe you got 94-95, wasn’t alive during that time
@@ladder3257 June Lake definitely did. Easily verifiable as is Mammoths 209 inches in a month. And June is relatively low and in the rain shadow of the Sierra. California holds most snowfall records outside of 2 or 3. Total goes to Mt Baker Washington with 93 feet. One other goes to Colorado. Tamarack California has the most.(By Kirkwood area)
@@GT-mn3bx ah i didn’t mean 209 in a month at mammoth, i meant 6 feet in a day, that’s the one i don’t believe
Hi, quick question. In your experience, usually how is the weather and how does south lake Tahoe looks like during the beginning of February? I've never been to Lake Tahoe before and I'll be there next February, I want to know, at least, what to expect and if you could give me some recommendations, I would appreciate it so much. Thanks in advance.
Hello, February is usually beautiful but its hard to predict what the weather will be like..it can mild in the 50s or tons of snow...the last few Febs that I experienced were pretty mild but that doesnt mean this year is going to be mild. But ive been out on the trails plenty in February
you live right there? That is my dream, is there any cool spots in the tahoe city incline village area?
Hey nark I have done a couple of videos on Tahoe city and north lake tahoe: here is one: ruclips.net/video/lcbki3MGygs/видео.html
👍
Climate change
Water levels had come back up.
This is nothin'! lol
OH MY GOD! IT'S WINTER! This happens every other year!
Yes last year there was one colossal snow storm at the beginning of December but that was really
Spoiler alert. This amount of snow was considered average not that many years ago.
I have heard! omg i cant imagine more snow, what i thing to experience
i live in south shore and it snowed 17 feet in one storm last year and We only go 3 feet
i know there was a huge one last year that i was out of town for but saw pics and and videos it was no joke
Throw a plastic tarp over your car BEFORE the first snowfall. Shovel and push snow off the top of the car and then pull the tarp off. Voila!! Your car is snow free and crystal clear. Works like a charm the 9 years I lived in Tahoe.
OMG that is an excellent idea!!! thank you for that tip! 💙💙
And you can also use bungies and tuck the tarp in a little at your doors to keep it from blowing off in the wind. Also, always keep spray can(s) of windshield De- Icer handy; and I would keep a can in my purse to unfreeze any locks on the car (or anything else!) that got frozen sometimes. Another thing that really worked for me was wearing lightweight wrestling shoes with zip up snowmobile boots over them. If things get icy, you can pull shoe cables (metal grips) over the snowmobile boots. My snowmobile boots zipped up to my knees.
I was there home shopping with my girlfriend, pretty insane! Really confirmed our decision to start our life in truckee 😊
Hi Dan that is amazing! how is it living in Truckee?
@@GabriellaViola we haven’t found a place just yet, but we’re up here once a month until we do! Making our connections! Actually up here now!
Truckee is an absolute dream town!
Amazingly beautiful! I will move there someday!
Your like a little kid excited to see all the snow and you won’t have to go to school 😂. And as the one comment said I remember that 13 ft in 3 days . But yes it hasn’t snowed like this for a few years. Welcome to the Lake Tahoe of the yr 77-78 that broke the drought of that time and man did it break the drought! That was my first year living in Tahoe in the Winter ❄️
I mean it's been beautiful, i got a little anxiety while shoveling my car, feeling like I won't omg I am never going to get out!!! lol but it does feel very special to be here and experience it
We were married there awhile back but in July. Wow !!!! I guess not living in it (snow) it's beautiful to me😁💖
Hi Judy! its absolutely beautiful, the snow that is, it certainly has its downside though creating inconvenient and dangerous conditions...happy to say that i got my car out eventually, the roads are still very sketchy though, congrats by the way!
We were watching the snowfall on the downtown Truckee webcam during this same weekend. Crazy amount of snow. The view from your friends home is gorgeous seeing Zephyr Cove! Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and Merry Christmas!
Thank you so much Liddie! I have yet to be in Truckee for a snowstorm but im sure its magical
😮😮😮 Beautiful!
Beautiful ❄️ ❄️ ❄️
At least it'll be a white Christmas lol
that is true!
Gabriella, Was in Tahoe recently, and live in Vegas, via So Cal via Massachusetts. Anyways, was also looking at possible places to maybe move to or buy or live? Anyways was hoping to direct connect with you for more feedback on affordable places to live/buy on Nevada side? Wasn't that impressed with Reno at least the down town parts I saw. Help :)
Hi Paul, i really dont know much about buying in Lake Tahoe, i am a budget renter lol, so i always am looking for what is affordable which is usually Stateline, Al Tahoe, or the Y area...I would love to own one day, i usually browse Zillow for prices, sometimes i look at Craigslist for rentals as well
Treat yourself to a few days in Las Vegas
I was just there actually over thanksgiving! went to Valley of Fire and stayed off the strip but so much fun
It's all fun till you have to deal with all the people on the road going to ski and I'm just trying to head to work by the lake
haha exactly!! the roads are still pretty messy but drivable now which is great!
Thank you, for sharing your experience.
You are most welcome Trina!
I so remember days like that. I used to live there. My kids had many, many snow days. I miss it. It's also very beautiful
It certainly turned into a winter wonderland despite the inconveniences of getting around! ⛄️
The best way to clean off that snow is with a broom and a broom dust pan. It doesn't take long.
