In a way, it is so calm and beautiful. I remember walking home from school in a couple heavy snow storms. The sound of the snow falling was so peaceful.
So, did Jonathan's hand get frozen from doing the video footage out the window? Last time I was there, definitely a lot less snow on the ground (about 35 years and two weeks ago).
I have taken this drive several times in winter from Mammoth to Truckee and back in snow storms and I’m here to tell you that it is the most beautiful drive you could ever take in your entire life it is absolutely magnificent❤️
Thanks for the video. My wife and I came over from the UK in1985 to ski in South Lake Tahoe (Heavenly). It was a fabulous holiday that we will remember for the rest of our lives, Great place, great people.
I grew up about 30 miles from Heavenly - just moved back to the area again. I'm glad you liked it! It's a wonderful place to ski in the winter and mountain bike in the summer!

@@danb7601It's nothing like that. Driving in snow isn't dangerous at all it's actually black ice that kills people mostly and secondly not driving for the conditions. If we are measuring danger a significantly amount of people die driving in perfect conditions or rainy conditions in maybe a single region per year than this entire country per year. So the truth is driving recklessly is dangerous. Snow has nothing to do with it.
I’ve said it before from someone living in New Zealand 🇳🇿 I just cannot get over how people live in these climates, more important it’s an absolute testament to the heroes that maintain the infrastructure that life continues 1:26 as ‘normal’ it’s incredible.

I lived in the area from 1962 through 2000 and every now and then we would get a good storm like this. Just what we wanted because I worked at a ski resort. Again, thanks!

Here in Western Siberia, such weather in winter is considered a thaw. But of snow, is a lot even by our standards. You have shaken the foundations of my ideas about California.
OMG! I hadn’t even looked at the comments but was just talking to my husband about this very thing! Without any of our modern extreme cold weather clothing or tools or equipment to get through something like that and just freezing and starving (or choosing not to) to death. Just not surprising.
About 176 years ago. I’ve been in a desperate situation once. Believe me when I tell you that people will do crazy things to survive. You would have to be in their frozen shoes to understand.

That amount of snow would be declared a national emergency in the UK. All non-essential services would cease to operate. It would be reported on a loop by every news outlet in the land.
Nice, I'm visiting Lake Tahoe next May/June, hope all that snow thawed by then. I live in the far South West of the UK, we get 1 inch of snow once every 10 years, amazing really seeing as we are 1000 miles further north than Lake Tahoe.
we dont have winters like this for years , the kids dont know anymore what real snow and winters are , i do remember some good winters but this is amazing , if i had the money i would go on vacation, great contect , keep it up
Incredible! I used to live in Incline Village and Zephyr Cove and now live in Italy. I moved here a year and a half ago from Zephyr Cove. While the cycling is great here Tahoe is my favorite summertime cycling place! Beautiful video I’ve recommended it/shared it with approximately 100 people. Many of which are locals here in Italy so I can show them where I used to live. Thank you so much

When you see all the cars coming from the other direction and NONE going where you are headed, you gotta think maybe it's time to find a motel or coffee shop. I'm quite comfortable (as a subscriber) watching thru your windshield as you bravely bash on...take care you guys!! Storms are real!

My friend and I were at Tahoe at 6pm on 28th, and my flight from SFO back to Toronto was in the next day at 7;30am. All the major highways were closed and we have to use the local. It took us 9 hours drove all the way north to red bluff in a rx350 with all season tires. Big relief when we got out of the mountains suddenly the roads were wet and started to rain. I was arrived at the gate just in time as they were boarding the last zone. What a day 😂😂….
Growing up I used to live in Virginia, and we moved to Texas in '76 so it's been a really long time since I've seen "Real Snow". (more than an inch or two) I totally forgot just how beautiful snow is. As a kid I could play in that white powder all day long and would never realize how cold it was. Back then I was only like 5-6yrs old and simply getting out of the house was a chore. Most of the time we'd have to climb out the second floor window. Everything was so white you could easily see rabits, deer and all kinds of animals. Our closest neighbor was 10miles away and it was the dream.
So beautiful, snow silences everything, covers the trees, I'm Boston guy and this winter never happened, it's been 30/40 degrees most of this winter, no snowstorms, it's crazy but I miss it. Thanks for the views

Impressive. I live in No. Colorado, where snow is no stranger, but seldom do we get anything like this. Well, March 14-15 2021 we did get 30 inches over a 2 day period. This year we have had about 40 inches total for the season, and cold, with 4 straight months of below normal temperatures.
Yes I remember that storm we had drifts 3 feet deep. I got stuck in a huge drift in my lifted truck on 33s. I had to air down my tires and shovel abit but I got out. We have not had a storm like that since in denver.

I don't know why but I love so much to drive in such weather, especially when it's the worst weather conditions, when you have a good and true capable 4x4. You just sit, drive and enjoy what is outside.

In the 1970s the plowed snowbanks in Truckee would be 25 feet high. You had to access cabins through the second floor.
