Yeah… this one is really meant for those of us with a few miles on us! It doesn’t quite hit the younger ones the same, but it will for them one day also!
exactly, I was in my prime when this came out and now I'm 52 and it hits me very differently now. Life is very very short, don't miss opportunities when they come along
I was 26 years old when Bob Seager released LIKE A ROCK. I was young and firm,,,, arrow straight,,,, working for peanuts,,,, and strong in my beliefs.... I instantly loved this song.. The music,,, rhythm,,,, guitar.... Then there was the lyrics.... The story of growing up,,,, growing old..... I`d hear it every day at work from the older men I worked with.... " When I was young".. " It seems like only yesterday:.... I was aware that someday I would be there... I always respected and expected that.... So now,,, today,,,, as I type this,,,, I am 64 years old.... Still able to work,,,, still firm in my beliefs,,,, but wiser,,, kinder,,,, smarter,,, and a little sadder... 40 years,,,,, where did they go? Seems like only 8 or 10 years ago.... I now sit,, bathed in the firelight,,,, looking at the pale moonlight,,,, remembering long past summer nights..... This song is so utterly spot-on. In 1986 I first heard and loved this song. Since then I have lived this song. I have become this song. Now, my eyes mist when I hear this song.... It is so damn true....
Thank you so much for doing this song! I’m glad you really liked it but I’m sorry it made you cry. Bob Seger has so many wonderful songs! You could pick any one and enjoy it! 😊
I’ve been a Bob Seger fan for 40 years and you’ve just given me a new appreciation for him ( not talking to the zombie like Norte dame fan) this song reminded me of my son that died of leukemia at 23 years old.
Yes! Starr - you GET IT. I get the same feelings when listening to this song. The lyrics, the feel of the song, the guitar solo - what a perfect blend.
This song when came out I was 19 as I was like a Rock now at 56 I got more years behind me then I got in front of me I listen to this now and my life plays back like a movie getting married having the kids buying the house career now house is paid off kids are grown up and we have grandchildren it makes more sense now then it back in 86.
I saw Bob Seger way back in 1975 when I was a high school kid in Regina, Saskatchewan. He was the opening act for Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Quite a concert for a 16 or 17 year old teenager. Bob really made it big after that, though we all knew he was bound for glory. He still likes doing concerts in Regina but I don't know if he has stopped touring now.
In my opinion he comes up to the train tracks, stops and gets out, the train represents his life starting at 18, The young people across the tracks were him and his friends when they were young. When he says 20 years now where they go, the young kids across the tracks stop and wondered what their lives will be as they get older, when the train comes to end that is where he is at in his life right now. I always get choked up when he says 20 years where they go i always wonder that it goes so fast. im 59 now and i still sit and wonder where the time went.
This song will have different emotions for you for every decade you live. They get stronger and more profund every time. Set and alarm set 10 years from now. RIGHT NOW! To listen to this again or you'll forget. Life changes in many forms, but this song is timeless to Reflect & Recharge a soul of all that is your fiber. Trust me, I'm 55 and this song rejuvenates me even more through time. Peace & Strength
Bob Seger is a pure artist. I've sat front row at his concerts in the early '80s. He's always remained true to his craft. So many great great songs I could recommend, but I won't. So, just do them all.
Oh this song brings so many memories to my mind today, thank you. My husband and I married in 1960, so we are around the same age as Bob Seger. We had so many good times together and have so many memories now to look back on. I love seeing young people such as yourselves react to these terrific old songs from our youth.
Thank You Sisters for this video. My family members recently died; I'm alone to cry. Watching Your tender heart break brought me to tears again. It was kind to see inside, I'm not alone, we're friends. Our Heavenly Father Brings us together in His strength, even at the bitter end.. Like a Rock...
I first heard Bob Seger in 1972, older sibling I instantly fell in love with his music 51 years later he is still #1 on playlist There are so songs He is a Detroit Mi Boy I would listen to Turn the Page, Against the Wind , Hollywood Night and Main St enjoy going down his rabbit hole
I've been a Bob Segar fan since the 1970's, this song came out when i was 23 years old, i just got out of the U.S. Air Force. The song effected me the same way your effected today ❤. Now at sixty this song has an even deeper meaning. I feel bad youmg people today have no artists who can communicate a emotional message.
@jerrybell1766 I was Air Force, and I worked with Seabees on Guam. Big Navy at one end of the island air force at the other. Worked with Marines at a NAVCOM station
@jerrybell1766 Guam, it was the best 15 months ever! Made friends I still talk with today. Like most young guys, we didn't realize how good we had it, beer money for days, and once the money was gone, you could still eat and had a roof overhead, lol
Such a beautiful and honest reaction😊 While the dreams of yesteryear are important, but so are our dreams of today and tomorrow … keep your dreams alive and live your best life today 😊
Yes. This Bob Seger song is beautiful. And those tears of yours, Starr... they are beautiful as well. You have a warm and tender heart. Guard her well. Hope you never, ever allow this old world to harden your heart. You are a lovely person. Inside and out. Nice reaction. Liking your style. I hit the sub button, like, black bell, and here's my little comment for you. Wishing you much success with your channel. Take it easy. Big shoutout from this old, longhaired, hippy, rocker in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. U.S.A. See ya on the next. Peace, love, and much happiness to you and yours. Go with God. Later.
The firefighters union did a video a few years ago utilizing this great song, showing various fire and rescue scenes. We used to play this video on the first day of every cadet class. The lyrics seemed to inspire the cadets, and many thought that the song was about young firefighters starting a long career. Bob had a knack of writing songs that meant different things to different people, and also different emotions.
Loved your reaction. Music and certain songs hit us all differently and I enjoyed watching this video. You have a new subscriber, play some more Segers 😊
Closer to the end now than I am to the beginning. Old man they say. I Don't feel that way. Wonder what God has in store. In my mind I still can run and jump and laugh at the day. My bones remind me not so. 20 years now, where did they go. 20 years I don't know. I sit and wonder sometimes where they have gone. You are beautiful. Your hearts shine as bright as your smiles. Tears of truth and life and change that affects us all. Peace to you from west Texas.
it teaches me to rely on the values your parents taught you am 60 now but that song is powerful to me because then i faced the world at 18 but was ready for the challenge had its ups and downs but i overcame
Once he was a young strong man, now looking back in his older years, he thinks about how good it was to be young. WE all do that. I'm 67 yrs. old now, and I have a lot of aches and pains, and I wish I was young again. Everyone does it as we age. When we see Christ, He promises no more pain or disease. We will get new Heavenly Bodies. I can't wait. Thank you Jesus. God Bless you Girls!
Just a guy in the world here, going indiscriminately about his business. My 'nickname' at work is 'old man Mike'... I think it's a diss because of my work ethic. Who knew I once ran a 4:26 mile while pressing 250lb at 130lb (average)... I sit here in the dark bathed in the light of my laptop and recall... when I was 19 I was running a 20 pound pneumatic chisel up and down the underside of a fuel station M frame on board a haze gray AOE auxiliary in a sleeveless pair of coveralls and an white onix cross about my open tanned collar. Every once in a while I'd a glance at the horizon across the glass surface of the Indian Ocean with clear Hazel eyes, breathing in the salt air, standing tall on the floor of the scaffolding, swaying gently with my sea legs solid beneath me. Proud, honored to serve you and honorable, like a rock, I was something to see folks. Something to see... God Bless You.
Young lady I am 68 heard this song a hundred times and still hits the emotions the older I get the more meaning it has.
You're right. I'm 66 and you have to go through the journey, good and bad, to really feel it. Not many songs can do that.
True statement. The one on the left gets it, the girl on the right, stone cold. LOL!
I was 26 years old when Bob Seager released LIKE A ROCK. I was young and firm,,,, arrow straight,,,, working for peanuts,,,, and strong in my beliefs.... I instantly loved this song.. That end when you realize the teens on the other side of the tracks weren't really there. They were memories.
and the train passing is the passage of time.
As a 67 year old man the lyrics of this song always bring a tear to my eyes.
Every time I hear Bob Seger I end up with a new Harley 😢
70 here. I get it.
70 here. The song gets more meaningful with every year that passes.
Seger has a way of making us nostalgic for times we didn't know existed. ❤
God bless her.
I miss my youth seger takes me back
I was a high school senior when this song came out. I'm 56 and still get emotional when I hear it. Those words are powerful.
Absolutely Amazing reaction! Thank you so much for sharing that! Your daughter just needs about 20 years of seasoning to appreciate this wisdom!
Thank you so much for doing this song! I’m glad you really liked it but I’m sorry it made you cry. Bob Seger has so many wonderful songs! You could pick any one and enjoy it! 😊
I'm 67 and I've known hard times. If you've been through hard times, just remember God loves you sweetie❤
The younger lady could not comprehend all of the story however the lady on the left really understood what this song was all about
The way you felt this hard! I was crying right along with you.
Bob Seger is truly a gift to our world.
I never wanted to give someone a hug so bad.
Man what a voice Bob Seger.. I love his hit Turn the Page and Night Moves… If you love the voice you will love these 2 songs…

This song is incredibly powerful, I didn't understand it when my dad used to play it in the car when I was young. It hits different 30 years later
I’ve been a Bob Seger fan for 40 years and you’ve just given me a new appreciation for him ( not talking to the zombie like Norte dame fan) this song reminded me of my son that died of leukemia at 23 years old.
I think you would enjoy "Against the Wind". Another Seger classic
Lovely reaction. Bob does that to you especially when you get a little older.
This song hits everyone differently and for different reasons. You must have an interesting reason, congrats on making it!!
Yes! Starr - you GET IT. I get the same feelings when listening to this song. The lyrics, the feel of the song, the guitar solo - what a perfect blend.

Yes. 58 and feel you.
I’m a 56 yo man reminiscing about my younger, stronger years when I was on top of the world. Time is fleeting. Do good things and live life.
I can never hear this song and not remember the old Chevy truck commercials
Bobs got soul.
Choked me up, ladies. Loved your emotion and tears. Thank you…
Starr, you obviously have a kind heart. lovely. Also Chevrolet used the song in their commercials for several years.

You said, "I don't know how to explain it." You domn't have to. Time explains it to us all.
It's amazing in America and Canada. How much life you can ponder while waiting for a very LOOOOOOOONG freight train at a crossing.
Next one should be his song, "Against the Wind".

Best rendition of this song he's recorded. I haven't researched the guitar player, but, top tier. Loved this, thanks.

Notre Dame is a rock. Her partner cries and she looks up with dead eyes.
For me it's about getting older
Young lady, if you feel emotional about this song now, just wait until you are my age.
Reminiscing about when you were a young man.
The song has more meaning theolder you get I'm 66
