- If your Sony Smart TV (Android TV version) keeps restarting, constant rebooting or stuck in a boot loop then i show you how to preform a factory reset (hard reset) without the remote, we will use the buttons on the Sony Smart TV (Android TV version). This should work on most Sony Android TVs.

This worked, thank you Mr. Tech. Would just like to add for the sake of helping others:
1. When the factory reset is in progress, some models won't say "erasing" or anything else while the big circle is on the screen.
2. I suspect the system has to first wipe all of the old data before reinstalling android -- so if there's a lot of data (apps, user files, cookies, old update files, etc.) the process can take quite a long time (mine took over 15 minutes). Morale of the story is don't try to bail out on the reset process once its begun -- it's not "stuck" -- just wait it out. It will work.

in my case it goes in booting cycle again by displaying error with a dead android symbol ? is it a hardware problem or a software problem?
My Sony XBR75X900E was rebooting on its own almost every morning for a month. Then 3 days ago, it was stuck in a continual reboot. It would show the Sony graphic for 20 seconds and then reboot...repeat forever. This morning, I did the power+down-button together on the back of the TV and plugged it in...as you demo'd. It then showed the factory reset circle. It finished and finally got to the Android bootup. I went thru the initial setup and right after entering and submitting the WiFi password, it suddenly It did another Factory-Reset on its own. After it finished and booted successfully for the 2nd time, I went thru the initialization again and this time it got past the WiFi setup and allowed me to go all the way to the end. It works now! Thank you for the video.
This procedure fixed the reboot problem with my xbr43x800e. It took 10 to 15 minutes. Did not see the word (erase) under the circles. Thanks Mark

It worked. TV was stuck booting in a loop. Did a hard reset as described, but at then it got stuck in the reset too? I walked away & 10 mins later it worked. Just took some time & as a heads up mine never said reset, it just showed the spinning white/multi color circle. Thank you for the support.
My multi-color circle doesn’t spin... it’s just there.. maybe a subtle difference between modes? Going to walk away for 10-15 min and see what happens
This is the last Android TV I will ever buy.
Let it finish booting with power on, solved my circles ⭕️ issue. Mine took over 10 minutes.

Thank you. Only one other video showed how to do this. Every single other video shows the back panel getting removed then screwing around changing parts out. I had a boss years ago who's mantra was the KISS principal. Keep It Simple Stupid. Never make the work harder than you have to, to get a job done. All I needed was for the TV to power up when I hit the power button. Mission accomplished. Thanks again. I will point out that the other person suggested going into the settings and doing a hard reset there before signing in. Something about "possible" program or app loss.

Much appreciated as I was using a lot of 4 letter words! Right now I’m good to go. FYI…after I did the power down and the 2 button technique it did go to a Sony logo and then got a green power light and the screen went to the erase mode. It started up and as I was going thru the setup, it powered down again and went back to a short erase function again. After that it went back thru the start of the setup functions and I was able to complete the steps. It was interesting that it kept my WIFI connection. Thank you again.
For Sony TVs with more than 4 buttons, like my XBR-490x830c, unplug the TV, press and hold the "power button" and "volume down button simultaneously while plugging the TV on. Wait until the LED under the center of the TV turns green, and then release the buttons. Like the troubleshooting steps of the OP, have the TV unplugged for awhile, before turning it on.

Not great for Sony and Google thay so many people had this issue but i am grateful for this advice. My tv was stuck in a rebootimg cycle after i initiated a factory reset and i thought the tv was a goner. Like ithers have said wait for the green light then lst go. My tv screen then went black and into a stand by phase for about 5 minutes eventually rebooting and reinstating itself. Thanks again!
My issue is the TV keeps going through the android loading sequence every time I turn it on after having switched it off for a few hours. This never happened until the update in Jan. Updated with the latest software release in April, but after a couple of days it resumed the android reboot sequence. Very poor that SONY haven't fixed it. This'll be the last SONY TV I buy!

I have the same issue. Did you ever find a solution? Using a USB drive doesn't work either. This all happened because of a Sony update that we shouldn't get once it's out of warranty, now Sony doesn't give a crap but simpy offers a 30% discount on a new TV, that's just insulting.

THANK YOU!!! TV (that i just bought 18 months ago XBR55X800E) seems to be working now after following your instructions to force a hard reboot and resetting to factory defaults. Now it appears I just need to set it back up again, which is better than buying a new motherboard or TV. Hopefully it keeps working, but if this happens again I'll know what to do. THANKS

Thanks, boot looping Sony XBR-75X850D reset with this method. Green light in my case. Reset Circle took awhile to clear but Welcome screen did appear.

this just fixed my Sony XBR-65A1E that kept attempting to reboot powering off and on, hold the power and volume down at the same time, then plug in, then keep holding till you see the screen change to something you haven't seen thanks!!

I was able to reset my Sony XBR-49X800D to factory setting by following your instruction. However, I had to skip the connection to the internet and was then able to get off air TV channels. Each time I tryed to connect to the internet the TV would go back to the continue reboot cycle as before. Please advise. Thank you.
My Sony X90h also has same issue. If I use ethernet, it will be on boot loop. If I use wifi connection, it will not happen.
Any tips if I factory reset and it still continues to loop reset?
this is happening to mine too, i changed network providers and as soon as i put in the internet passwork it restarts every 10 seconds :( i tried hard reset and no dice, anynet+ is off, worked once, but as soon as i turned tv off its happening again :(

Tried this too.....I got the "Erasing" screen and then the android boot up circles, but unlike your experience, I never get to the word "android" on the screen- it just goes rigth back to turning on/off and rebooting in the same loop. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

I restarted twice wasn’t working at first. Noticed every time I used my controller it would prompt a restart selection and just restart. I took the batteries out for 10 mins, replaced it and it worked. Hopefully this helps someone or I just got real lucky
Wow, I completely assumed something was wrong with the tv itself and thought the worst. Turned out to be the fire stick remote that was just throwing infrared out of it lol

Mine is still in the Factory reset Reset Loop where it shows the four colors circles going around and it has Not stopped for a Day. I've tried this and it still hasn't Stopped. I'll try again
hey :-) thanks so much for this! so when i did the factory reset & got to the green light, that rainbow "erasing" circle showed up for a while and then it went back to SONY and then those dots - but when my colourful dot animation thing shows up it freezes and then goes straight back to the SONY logo - and seems to start the whole cycle of a repeat reboot. does this mean the factory reset isn't working or is something wrong since it's freezing up?
