    It seems like the question is always "why do women keep saying there are no good men?". Here's why women keep ASSUMING that. We're all stuck in this sick standards cycle. 90% of the time, when you ask someone what they want or need in a partner, they give you a list of "standards" that characterize someone "better than themselves" per se. As much as we would love to deny that, its true. 90% of the time the person that does check all our boxes, has even greater standards; they're not even looking our direction. So we get mad when the man WE want doesn't want us back. Call them "no good" men because they can't see the rest of the value in us. Yet that's what we probably just finished doing to the last guy we thought didn't meet our "standards". Maybe we need to drop the word standards and ask, "what morals and values do you look for in a partner. What does your soul require/desire in a parnter. A lot of people are extremely shallow and are too coward to admit it. Then here we are trying to crack a code, when it really just is the generation of inauthenticity and indecisiveness. Frankly, most of the time our standards aren't even ours. They're an idea formed by the media, one that's constantly changing, ones that's never ending. There are men out here saying "i like them natural" thanks to people like kendrick, but what they really want to say is " i want a girl that has a butt like Nikki, i just rather it be natural". Just too coward to admit it, because they wanna keep up a nice, cool, hip, kendrick look.

    • @deepzone31
      @deepzone31 5 лет назад +30

      Nailed it. Values are bigger than whatever fake standards the media is programming people with. TV, Facebook, and Instagram idealizations are a cancer. The trick though is being honest with yourself about your value standards. You may end up having to compromise somewhere because the ideal mate is a myth. Maybe the compromise is a standards "range"? Also good point on the lack of authenticity. I can see how that makes things more complex in the current market for mates.

    • @Sweeetkatofmine
      @Sweeetkatofmine 5 лет назад +33

      @@deepzone31
      I like to think the best way to find the right mate, is focusing on learning about YOURSELF. Not what you THINK you like/desire in others. Learning HOW to love, not learning how to attain love or be loveable. People are too distracted figuring out how to attain love and be lovable (meeting standards/ mimicing idols) instead of learning HOW to love and be authentic. So much so, that once they've attained it, they don't know what to do with it. Learn about yourself enough to where you have all the information you need to create an authentic "owners manual". So you can "hand" that to your potential partners and allow them to decide if you're the one for them. Stop waisting your valuable time trying to meet up to these standards that are probably gonna change next month, when a set of new trends drop on IG or facebook. Morals, values, knowing how to love, is timeless, priceless. In the end it beings with being honest with ourselves. Are we subconsciously being shallow and mislead in our pursue of love. Because when you've met the one, you wont have to convince them into believing you check all their boxes. They'll see it and there wont be anything anyone can do to blind them of that, there isn't even anything YOU can do to blind them of that.

    The backlash to your original suggestion (that women pursue relationships just as we pursue careers), Hafeez, is rooted in the fact that it's an apples and oranges comparison. In our society, men are expected to pursue, to "choose", and engage; not women.
    Notice Angela basically stated that she did nothing to get with her current man. He pursued her. And fortunately for her, he wasn't playing around
    It sounds like he was very intentional in his pursuit. We aren't all so fortunate when it comes to meeting and establishing healthy, serious relationships with decent men. So no, this whole relationship business for women is not as easy as choosing and passionately pursuing a career. There's no comparing the two.

      It could be incredibly simple, this notion that you will be judged by the society boogieman is in the same category as a lot of the limiting and flat out incorrect notions that women have been fed about other characteristics concerning men. Most of this garbage doesn't even come from understanding men, it is fed to you via trash media and other women, and in some cases homosexual men. If an attractive, friendly woman spoke to most men and indicated interest in them, they would be incredibly happy. Whoever tells the world we like the chase because we're hunters does not understand men or hunting. We appreciate consistency and a return for our efforts. In the hunting analogy, think of it this way - if an amazing trophy buck or other big game animal just stopped in front of the barrel of a hunter's gun, he wouldn't NOT shoot it because he likes the chase - he would grab the opportunity. Only a game playing, not serious hunter would want to have the prey get a head start.

    The problem with career-wise successful women is three-fold: 1. They naturally look for a partner who's at least as successful as they are or more so 2. Men don't factor in career success as a desireable trait when looking for a partner - they couldn't care less if you're a CEO. 3. It takes time to build up a career success - maybe the prime years of your life and men value youth and fertility.
    This narrows both the potential pool of partners to a tiny minority of men who often have their pick of women and puts time constrains on.

    Great that this discussion is taking place. I always remind myself: (1) just as I regards myself to be a descent person there are also brothers out there who are descent. (2) it is impotant that I love myself before I can love anyone else. (3) Loving myself includes ensuring that I have me time each day to meditate, excercise, sauna, massage, read, preparing and eating healthy meals etc. (4) person development to deal with issues from childhood and past relationships to ensure that I do not take these issues into a new relationship. (5) Pursuit my passion in life this is also part of loving myself. (6) Not to settle for any brother just for the sake of having a relationship. I would rather be single and be happy than be unhappy in a relationship. (7) It is impotant to be clear about what your potential partner should have such as ambition, honesty, leads a healthy life, works out at the gym, religious belief etc. Basically be clear what is a deal breaker.
    I my humble opinion I would not engage in sexual activity unless i'm married to the person. Sex is more than a physical act. Angela is doing a great job. I also like stephan's work.

      LluviaLuna13 Yeah, that's what makes a poor guest but that's understandable with Angela Yee. Man or woman, even if you are more seasoned in that industry it's highly disrespectful and unprofessional to "interview" the hosts. If the reverse had happened t a female host, a large number of women would get upset and fell she was being "talked over". But it's a women so the behavior is her being "strong". Look at it objectively and she was a poor guest. But they'll learn.

    Successful women shrink their pool of available men with each accomplishment due to their nature and our society. It's just how they're built. In our society it's probably going to always be lopsided because our society is getting more feminized as time goes on. Also guys know they typically get a raw deal if a relationship goes bad so most guys opt out of relationships. But shoutout to Angela Yee for trying to make women feel okay about being lonely LOL!

  • @hawdarkshooter

    Men always have options, because they not afraid to date up, down, left or right. Successful women will always have it harder because they got to find a man who matches them. That's the key difference. A successful man can find a woman who looks exactly like Angela Yee, that works at Dunkin Donuts and be cool with it.

      Because at some point, men become competitive with their romantic partner. They naturally compare themselves to their mates and project their insecurities or lack of satisfaction with themselves on to their mates. That projection can easily turn into anger, manipulation, belittling to boost his ego. If he was more secure in his position in life (with the desire to grow), we would have less issues. Why date someone who is going to belittle you for doing the same thing he is doing? Which is trying to establish a better life for themselves. We can be great together. We can build together. Stop fighting us so hard.
      So I agree. It's better to date equal or up. Who needs the stress?

    Started off as a really great conversation, I really enjoyed the part about both parties needing to put actual effort and being proactive about meeting people while not approaching things from a mindset of disqualifying potential partners based off of shallow and arbitrary preferences or alternatively forcing a connection to see how things develop naturally with time. I think the flow got consistently side-tracked at times so the cohesion was less than optimal. I think with a multi person podcast like this, one of y’all have to step up and direct the conversation a bit more, because I feel like a lot of super interesting discussion points were missed. Don’t be afraid to speak how you feel, I think I’m the long-run it will make for much more genuine and interesting conversations, whereas if you say part of how you feel in a very unconfident way it makes your arguments come across as weaker.

    As Stephan says ‘arguing is not ok, disagreement is ok’ and I agree. I dated a guy with sometimes loud personality, aka passionate and I loved it but when you try to argue with that tone it is disrespectful. Because men are usually already dominant and when you mix passion with negativity and harsh words it is perceived as forceful domination. Everyone has to watch their tone and keep the respect up when they r having disagreements. That might mean to cool off first and THEN have a productive conversation.
