@@Rigou27 finally figured it out. My gaming controller was plugged in and for some reason wouldn’t allow the sleep function to activate. As long as the controller is unplugged it works as intended. :)
Thanks so much for this comment - it was indeed the Joypad! I didn't even think of it because I've had it constantly attached on every PC I've used for 12 years and the "no sleep" problem was very recent. Anyway, thank you again.
Hey, I just want you guys to know this tutorial WORKED PERFECTLY for me. Ive been having this issue for over a year now. Every other video I saw in this topic involved excruciating detailed review of all usb and network adapters (and shutting off all power management features). I had no idea that there was even an automatic troubleshooter for this. Now. I learned that if I have any other issues I can refer to this troubleshooter. the only thing I would add is that before running the power management, you should plug in all hubs, docks, and power supply. That would insure a full scan of the issue.
yo wtf, my new lenovo laptop got the same problem and this method saved me, it s still working with W11, this is insane. Ty so much. It was taking forever to enter HIbernate mode and I was scratching my head wtf was wrong with this.
For anyone who tried everything and didn't work. My PC and Monitor would NOT sleep no matter what, I ran the command prompt: powercfg -energy and I saw a few usb IDs and disabled them one by one, that did the trick! It was one old Game controller... Remember, even if the report says "Note that this issue will not prevent the system from sleeping" for me it DID prevent it. So check and disable each listed USB hubs or devices one by one!
Neither even came close - no options for sleep or hibernate ever showed up even after reboot. Maybe these procedures don't work on later versions of Windows 10.?
check if you have the following settings: 1. Settings/ System/ Power and Sleep 2. Additional power settings/ Choose what the power buttons do/ Change settings that are currently unavailable 3. When I press the power button - Shutdown 4. Turn on fast startup, should be checked If all this good, then sleep and hibernation should work if not then hibernation is disabled on your computer. For that follow instructions below, remember to restart your computer after 1. Windows key in the search box type cmd, right click and choose run as administrator, OK on any prompts 2. When the CMD prompt opens, type this in the command line: powercfg.exe /hibernate on 3. Hit enter and when the command prompt is back type exit and hit enter to exit CMD 4. Restart Hope that it helps you!
When i press my hibernate button, it does not hibernate, it makes the computer lock itself, i have tried changing the power plans and also changing what closing the lid does and power buttons but none of these work. This is my problem
What about windows 10 always stuck in the logo when I open it? I actually can fix it with pressing F5 but the stuck won't go away, everytime I turn on my laptop I must press F5, How do I fix this
I think now with ssd no need to sleep mode on Mac/PC &should be removed from OS. Hibernate mode is power efficient & the user work restoration is guaranteed
sorry to trouble you with a situation I have run into after upgrading to a SSD. If I set the power plan to Hibernate after 30 minutes, when I get back to my computer I cannot wake it from Hibernation using the mouse OR keyboard. In device manager I have under power management checked the box to allow this device to wake the computer for Keyboard and Mouse. Also in the Power Plan I have enabled wake timers and disabled USB selective so that all USB ports are responsive when I get back to using the computer. Another point to be noted, I also tried pressing the power button on the CPU like I do to start the computer, even then it does not wake up. They say it usually takes 8 seconds to wake up from Hibernation, but such is not the case with me. I have to long press the power button on the CPU when I can hear the computer switched off, I have to press the power button again to reboot/ start it and then it gets up an running. I am going crazy even after using the trouble shooter for power I have no resolve! For now, I have only kept sleep, turned off Hybrid Sleep and Hibernation. Not happy but that is the only thing that works in waking up my computer
I have a problem ... My pc turn off display after some time but won't sleep and it stay in that mode (hdd led is flashing, power led is on not in sleep mode but screen is off). The only option left is to long press the power button to shutdown and boot again. This happen only if I connect the charger. If its not connect to power ,it's a normal laptop. I tried a couple of things like reset power options, uninstall driver and even reset windows but problem still exists.
Is there a way not to use sleep but automatically hibernate the PC (not laptop) windows 10 pro after a given time, can you do a video that works please, cheers.
Go into "Power management", then "Choose what closing the lid do" (or something like that in the left hand side), and there you define what the sleep button should do
Go to Device Manager....System Devices..Intel Management Engine Interface..Power Management and UNCHECK the box that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device"
