Unsurprisingly we’ve had a lot of new #MercedesBenz S Class content on the channel in the last few months, starting all the way from the Camo preview, new interior system, first look, and recent first drive. And in that last video, I mentioned how preped the design seemed to be for #mercedesmaybach, and I even rendered my guesstimate too. And lo and behold I was right! And today is your first look at it, I’ve got 3 different specifications to show, every change and a first look at the interior too! So let’s drive straight in to the next generation S Class #Maybach!
Some fun behind-the-scenes facts for you before I start. Of course it’s November 2020 and Europe and most of the world is in lockdown. So travel to Germany to review this car was not possible, luckily, Mercedes know i have my magical inter-dimensional ways to show their prototypes, so bringing their new Maybach here was no problem. ;)
Incase you don’t know, Maybach is the ultra hyper mega luxury trim for Mercedes Benz cars. Built to battle the likes of the new Rolls Royce Ghost and Phantom, Bentley’s flying spur and Mulsanne. You need to think of it in the same way AMG is: Unique exterior elements, bespoke interiors, unique engines, and specific technologies, but all geared towards ultimate luxury.
No better example of this than the new GLS 600 that we reviewed. Taking a standard GLS, and applying all of those Maybach DNA bits to it. But when we all think of Maybach, we think of the saloon. Though probably the less successful Maybach 57 and 62, but after the brand was renamed the 222 version has been selling like hotcakes in China, USA, Germany and Russia.
Now it’s back with the New S Class. Already even in it’s standard form it’s a level higher in terms of fit/finish and overall sharpness.
But with the new car, the design of the Maybach has taken a leap forward. So in this video we look at:

Fun behind the scenes facts: Mercedes were meant to take a load of shots for us based on our instructions (like the other channels with videos currently), sadly they couldn’t take anything at all for us due to some internal issue. So I had to make everything using the standard press footage. A good job taking that into account!
Secondly, filmed this yesterday, I’ve lost some weight: yay. Some videos coming up are from the past where I’ll look plumper. 🤣 Annoying.

this is just insane ! the most beautiful maybach of all time for me! i was a little bit disapointed with the regular new S class but this is rolls royce and bentley level
I love them both.
This is really one of the best new car channels out there. The different presentation format of being able to see the progression of generations sequentially is unique and compelling, and it's a great lesson that someone with fresh ideas can come into a stale market (YT auto channels are all so similar today) and mix it up!
It looks fantastic. They nailed it. Not sure about it in red, but fair play. Red is big in China for obvious reasons...Lights are expensive to develop and homologate. The business case to change the lights probably wouldn’t work out too favourably.
This is the true S-Class. Complete with the epic V12 experience.
A V12 GLS 680 would be amazing, a proper opponent to the Cullinan and the Bentayga. If also they come up with a Cabriolet it will be a masterpiece
Sadly with this generation we won't get a convertible. And also not a coupé.
Maybach's red is called the Zircon red, it's the same as the Maybach Vision 6 and Ultimate Luxury concepts.
Patagonia red is another color used to promote the AMG GLA 35 and GLB 35.

Exactly, I noticed that too as I am a hawk eyed guy and ocd thingy is very real for us 🙁
It is not imperfect line. Because of the hole, it introduces a 3rd dimension which creates infinite straight line depending on the angle. As a result, the current line might look imperfect
@@theyoutuber273 nope you can see from 9:20 too its clearly not in a perfect straight line, i can tolerate this on a regular s class but not in maybach level, even the black and white car have perfect line, as you can see, the burgundy gold car just have a poor qc i suppose

@@abdullahz4804 how could it possibly be above them. It’s much cheaper, it’s going to be built in way more numbers making it less rare and exclusive, it’s got the same badge on the bonnet as an A class and it’s materials aren’t as premium.

@@abdullahz4804 how can the star mean more when it’s on hundreds of thousands of cars produced every year. It’s on diesel a classes. It doesn’t mean much anymore, cars like the current c class are shockingly bad material wise. These cars will never be as exclusive as a Rolls-Royce.

Gorgeous interior. The two tones colour on the previous gen Maybach displayed at 4:35 would look perfect on the new Maybach
Nice review. I like how Mercedes Benz offers the V12 engine for the Maybach only which helps to differentiate the Maybach from the S Class.
Too bad it still has the big iPad in the middle. Everything else looks pure class though.
And the tablet behind the steering weel reminds me of C class that's just ugly as F tho the car looks awesome outside inside there are some pros and cons these two being the biggest ones.

I don't know why Mercedes even bothers with Maybach anymore, its just an S600 with some extra bells and whistles.

To me, the best way for any reviewer to determine how much better the Maybach version is over the standard S Class is to drive it on dirt and gravel roads. Drive it out to cottage country in your respective areas and see how much better the refinement and comfort levels are.
The homage to the Vision 6 concept is undeniable. Whilst it's sad the coupe has left us this generation, this is a fitting upgrade for the saloon and I can't wait to see what Brabus can do with it.
I have the S400dL amg line exclusive premium + 2019. but this interior is incredible
Hello Ole! Please let us change the rose gold to yello gold if we so desire at will on the instrument cluster! We can change the color of the interior lights,so this could be as easy as that I think.

A excellent Maybach like we‘ve never seen before.. ... An illuminated and retractable Maybach Emblem on the bonnet would have been nice ..still missing an all electric version surely coming later with the EQS

Raz well done, it’s beautiful. Sifting through the comments, numerous people praise your wizardry skill editing. Specifically the instantaneous Switcheroos between model . It’s a masterful visual technique to help us conceptualize what you are explaining and to see the comparisons. But my heart still holds the 57’s and 62s as the ultimate achievement for Maybach under the auspice of Mercedes. No other car looked like a 62. They were wealth personified and an original modern context. I was so anticipating seeing them in the switcheroo but it didn’t happen. One day please kind sir may you serve me some more.

So the only noticable visual difference in the interior, other than more room, is the graphics on the screen with rose gold speedometer and text that says "MAYBACH"? Oh well...

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I really like them. They look better to me than the vertical taillights on previous Mercedes sedans. I found them to weirdly wrap around the trunk, which made it look like it didn't belong to the car. Remember the Bangle Back on BMWs? While on an E63 6 series, which was hated back then, I really like this style as this insanely extended trunk looks like it was shaped by the wind like a sand dune or so, on Mercedes it was quite a similar shape, but more formed like a blob. Not much, but just a little bit. These new shapes give it a far better rounded back that in my eyes suits Mercedes better as a brand with a traditional and traditionally heavy design.

Does the UK get rear wheel steering and rear screens? I'm told the UK doesn't, on the S-Class.
Mercedes-Maybach S580 4MATIC : type M176 V8 4.0 liter 489 PS
Mercedes-Maybach S580e 4MATIC : type M256 inline 6 cylinder 3.0 liter 367 PS + 105kW electric motor
Mercedes-Maybach S680 4MATIC : type M279 V12 6.0 liter 612 PS (a downgrade from the previous-gen 630 PS due to the EU's mandatory OPF filter)
Now it looks different enough to the S-Class, so i don't mind the similarities because at a whole it's a completely different looking car finally.
Too bad that V12 won’t be on the regular model . They should do a V12e

Please advise, is the B pillar chromed or are they brushed aluminum? They appear to be brushed aluminum, and not mirror like chrome. Please let me know. (I'm thinking of adding to my W221 S Class) I like the look....but can't find aluminum ones.

This fixed everything i disliked on the previous model. The sideskirt is now lower/wider/stronger, and the front is much better than the previous or the new S-Class. And the new multispoke wheels are the first Maybach wheels that actually look great.
If this come in plug in hybrid with near 1000km range . I'll purchase.
Edit: in the near future, not now. (maybe 15-20 years)

I never thought that the MB design team would get their inspiration for this new dashboard from Telsa; absolutely HIDEOUS.I just can imagine all these old men who normally buy an S-Class trying to operate this massive center tablet and the accidents they would cause; never mind the lawsuits MB would be facing for being complicit to these accidents. Mind you the rest of the car is nice.This one goes to the Bentley's Flying spur when it comes to luxury but if your into gizmos then the S-Class is for you.

The ultimate would be the Bentley flying spur shape with all Mercedes technology and the 7.3 Mercedes v12 engine . Rog .even the maybach doesn't have the sheer presence of the Bentley shape.but you know what I'll have the Bentley as well. Both have that little extra something over the rolls. Absolutely nothing wrong with the S at all in any way at all, but they completely dropped the ball with the Maybach. Again . It should FEEEEEEELLLL like a completely different car even if it's the same under the skin. It's just a long S-Class to most.

That MB star needs to be replaced with the Maybach emblem. Like really? I mean thats the only gripe i can come up with and its not a gripe just an adjustment for perfection. I mean well done sans the screen inside. I like molded not plastered on as an afterthought. But again its just for perfection.
Controversial question, does this even NEED a V12? It doesn’t scream like an Aventador nor a 812, it doesn’t add to the driving experience apart from being silky smooth. The Maybach is all about tranquility and silence, so I think this should go electric, the ultimate in smooth, quiet driving. Considering the Maybach is popular in China and customers who work in big cities, having an electric car going forward will be financially beneficial for them. Because they wont need to pay a truck load of taxes and charges to drive their V12 in an urban environment, in fact, they could get some money back on their investment in terms of incentives. I know this is crazy, but just my thoughts. “Be happy about this, it’s got a V12!”Celebrating the usage of a quiet V12 is a bit, mmmmm....
