I have the same issue you did with the dual stage portion. I like the wrap around LED but I feel the actual brake light portion should light up as well for visibility. I keep looking for a decent set as well hopefully someone will make a set up where the LED band and the internal lights all light up with the parking light then just get brighter when you step on the brake. They look good on the truck though really updates the rear.
Glad I’m not the only one. I know the more expensive lights are the same too from the bigger brand names and one of the reason I did not get those because they are triple the cost and ugly as hell.
It’s not perfect, but it’s still on my truck and I’ve been changing them out regularly. It has reduced the amount of dust that makes it into the truck and keeping debris out of the condenser so it’s going it job. But install and changing out the filter sucks. Changing out the filter is easier than install. You only need to disconnect a single bolt and pop off the panels. But for a fatass like me, it still sucks to hang over the engine bay to do it. I still think it’s worth it though.
Love these review videos 🙌🏻. Im different and actually like the oem tails lol. All though these are probably the only lights so far id probably get. I do like the simple clean look of them. Only downside is that I put in led bulbs with resistors like the ones on those lights in the oem ones. They corroded out by the 3rd winter here (even as clean as i keep it). So idk if i could spend the money for it to just fail again. Ill definitely check them out though.
That’s good to know, because there is no way to keep moisture out of the back of the lights. The tires fling it all back there and the bed panels act as a catch and funnel for all the water.
@@krashnpa maybe but the actual resistor housing failed with my setup. But it could have found its way in a crack somewhere on the wire. Those do look better wrapped though.
Anything smoked out like this is not DOT approved. So there is no DOT raised lettering on these lights. They have a clear set that will be much better for you. Same design just clear lens. They also have another design too that’s a mix of both that could be dot approved

I told them no but they proceeded to process it after the part was already here in my city at the local fedex sorting facility. I told them this is completely stupid to cancel the order for a refund to reorder when the damn product is already here. I'll just take my business elsewhere if they are this stupid. I can't stand incompetence from companies like that.

I have the Spyder smoke taillights. They have a similar set up and NO bulge. 3+ years now with no issues. Keep the vids coming!

@KeepItDirtyOffRoad it looks like the connections to the resistors have shrink tubing, maybe that will help!

Yeah. I have yet to find one that don’t have it. I think the shape matters and the shape of the tail light is patented and why they add the bulge.
