I'm glad to listen to the "I" of a poet, it is an I in whom each heart can recognize or discover his or her self! 🙏🏻🕊

Robert, I just followed along closely with the lyrics as you performed. You are indeed a song poet and the words are most engaging as I try to follow along with my own appreciation of the message your are sending in the song. Thank you.

Another song to love, Robert. You really are a very skillful writer and tunesmith, my friend. Everything fits, every line carries me onto the next. Terrific arrangement, vocal and guitar. Yes, I like very much. If I could subscribe again, I would.

Good job! Good lyrics ! I liked your rhyme pattern ! I would consider putting in a chorus where you could put the tittle instead of just in the tag at the end of the song ! Maybe even a different tittle ! But that is just me and I am not saying there is anything wrong with the way you have done it but just how I would probably have done it !

Thank you, Ron. I appreciate the comment. I usually write songs by first selecting a chord progression, then weaving a melody into it, and only then writing the lyrics. But this song started life as a poem. I wrote the poem in 2010. A friend recently suggested I turn it into a song. I resisted the idea at first, but then thought I'd try it. I didn't want to alter the structure or wording of the poem, so that ruled out adding any chorus. I decided to turn the final stanza into a coda, to bring the song to a resolution. I'm fairly happy with way it turned out.

@@roberthaigh3206 We have a different style of writing ! I generally always start with a tittle and I find with a good tittle the song will almost write itself !

@@ronhammar1154 There is no right or wrong way to write a song, of course, and I do sometimes have a title in mind before I've even composed the first line. The world of music is a wonderful and varied thing!

@@roberthaigh3206 I agree with what you are saying ! You as a writer can write the way you want to write ! I was only trying to be helpful !

I write both poetry and songs. The lyrics to this song were written as a poem in 2010. Then, in 2023, a friend suggested I should turn it into a song. After a little thought I did just that and this is the result.

@@michaelmurphymusic Thank you, Michael! I usually think twice before turning a poem into a song, because I don't like to add to an existing poem. But, sometimes it can work out OK, without a chorus, in the manner of an old folk song.
