I have ZV1 and was planning to upgrade to ZV1M2. But now, seeing that Pocket 3 also has 1 inch sensor with similar wide angle lens (20mm f2.0 on Pocket 3 vs 18mm f1.8 on ZV1M2) but with gimbal instead of digital stabilization, I think I’m just going to go for Pocket 3 instead. Video quality is similar with similar bokeh, but waaaaay much stable. Oh and the 3 internal mics on Pocket 3 is pretty descent, too.
The problem : "Dear Thank you for contacting DJI Technical Support. We are grateful to assist you with your concern. The Osmo range blow my mind. Such a tiny package and so powerful. We have started using the Pocket 2 as an A roll camera now along with our much more expensive Panasonic video camera. The Osmo 2 is amazing enough, it looks like the 3 is going to be even better. I am assuming that the case for the 3 is the same as the 2 so one thing I will say is DON'T put the lens and other attachments in there, they fall out too easily and could easily be lost. We had the lens drop on the floor and bounce under a freezer in a shop - got back that time but that was enough to convince me to put it in a safer location. I do find battery life is a bit short with the 2 so hoping this has been improved with the 3.
The filters etc have bigger magnets than the earlier version and hold well in the case, according to other reviews. Battery life can readily be extended with the battery handle, and I believe that can even be hot-swapped mid shot.
Good to know, the old case was hopeless as keeping the accessories in so stronger magnets should make it better. Sadly we only got the Pocket 2 a few months back so I guess I won't be upgrading for some time yet. @@Ozpeter

I have the first Osmo Pocket. The screen on that one is nearly unusable, so I had to use the phone adapter to see what the Pocket was actually recording. Life happens and I rarely do videography anymore so the old Pocket is just stored away with my camera equipment. This looks fun as you don't have to attach your phone to it.

I know this is a "Video First" type of camera, but a little curious about the still photo abilities. The pocket 2 had 60+ MP stills and this has a 10MP still? I presume that we're comparing Apples and Oranges since I believe the pocket 2 would actually combine 3 frames to build the one still image. Even then, I am wondering if the RAWs from this are at least comparable to a smartphone photo?
Good overview, thanks. The wireless mic alone could provide subject matter for another 15 min video! No receiver required, 32-bit float backup audio, standalone functionality, can remote control (start/stop) the camera, and so on. And you can connect a pair of them to the camera, wirelessly.
Nice review guys! Although I was really hoping for the sky diving segment... anyway, one problem with previous Osmo's I had was it didn't work with my smart phone, so I was unable to activate it until I borrowed a friends. Any limitations with this one in terms of activation? Any phones it doesn't work with?
Those are some cool features, it kind of makes me regret buying an Insta360 X3 a couple of months ago. They have different purposes of course, but I still haven't taken the X3 out filming except for testing it out. I have recorded a bunch using my phone for some car repair videos, maybe the DJI would have been better in the low light. It won't do me and good while on my motorcycle, that is what the GoPro is for, but if I stop because I see something cool like a vista or waterfall the DJI would be a much better choice than hoping I'm pointing my helmet-mounted cam in the right direction. That 1" sensor looks great in low light, too. Maybe I'll have to go and blow another $700CAD on something I'll barely use, haha.
Preach haha! I’ve got the DJI Action camera 4, pocket 3, & X3. Plus my daily driver iPhone 15 Pro Max. Different tools for different jobs forsure, I want to upgrade my mini 3 pro drone for the 4 only because of the low light performance, image noise is so annoying once you’ve noticed it.

Commenting on a 9month old video, better late than never 😄 My 2 main concerns with DJI Osmo pocket 3 are 1) the mimo app needed to register/update them that has been banned from apple/google stores so you need to side-load a hopefully safe app. 2) And the internal non-replaceable Li-Po battery. The EU, Canada and some US States have passed "Right to repair" legislation making the selling of products with planned obsolesce illegal there. I believe a product with a non-replaceable Li-Po battery like the pocket 3 would fall under that. Wonder if the pocket 3's internal battery is covered under the optional DJI Care plan? Any rate aside from those concerns, I am quite happy with the device so far. It works very well
I wish it had true vertical video, a wider aperture, 422 color, and higher bitrate options. Out otherwise a definite improvement over Pocket 2. Thankfully they went with 1 inch

such a shame it doesn't have a variable aperture, they put one in to the old mavic 2 pro with 1 inch sensor. Hopefully they will give it some better photographic ability with updates. Doesn't seem to have a mic socket though?
Hi, I just bought Osmo Pocket 3, how to set high bitrate? I'm getting 80-85 Mbit/s and the manual says the maximum is 130 Mbit/s? in what mode is this possible? The user manual says that the maximum bitrate is 130 Mbit/s, but I'm not even close to 130.
Does the active track work with objects/products or only eyes/faces? Thinking it could be a great option to mount to a slider to keep an object in frame as the slider moves.
@@Panotaker No I have not, but "Steve WB" uploaded a video in which this adapter is being used - "Stouchi USB C to 3.5mm Dongle Adapter" - from Amazon.
@@Ozpeter Thanks, i watched his review, but I think I will stick to my ZV1 with a Crane 2 Gimbal. It is not as small, but it is a much better system over all. DJI should have put a removable battery on the camera itself, a 3.5mm mic jack and a USB C port, plus a tripod socket on the bottom of the camera so you wouldn't have to use all the various adapters. I do have an original Osmo pocket, so if I need a tiny gimbal, I will just use that. If I didn't have a ZV1, I would have probably got it, but it would be a downgrade as a replacement for the ZV1/gimbal combo in my opinion. Thanks for answering my question.
@@Panotaker According to a DJI engineer posting on the Pocket 1 or Pocket 2 DJI forums a long time ago, implementing a removable battery would have involved either a smaller battery with shorter running time, or a larger camera. I think the add-on battery is the best compromise. But others may disagree! The tripod socket built into the camera itself would also have had size implications (meaning it would have been slightly larger whether the user wanted to attach a tripod or not). And a 3.5mm mic jack just doesn't seem to be part of their design ethos any more, since the Action 2. But I discovered all sorts of things that could be connected to the USB-C port of that camera - eg the Sennheiser Ambeo binaural headset, and Tascam audio recorders with built in mics, as well as 'normal' USB mics including the rather good stereo one from Shure. But of course, YMMV.
Can you use the mimo app to control the direction of the pocket3? i.e manually move the camera arcound and have the pocket 3 follow? Can you do a video about it?
Really hope I'm early enough... f4, f5.6, f8, f11, f16. Can you two please explain what the F, "f" means? See what I did there? 😎 Also...what or where is the 50mm is in a 50mm, lens? (Or any x,mm lens for that matter) I really need to get better understanding of this. Thank you! Love your videos!
I love your new studio setup, looks clean. Nice review. Would love to see open gate so we can create both vertical and horizontal versions of our footage in post.
@@michaels3003 you are probably right but is worth asking because it would be a great feature considering this is a social media production camera and vertical and horizontal are both a must right now.
Hot damn! This is gonna rescue my arms from the occasional tendinitis, while vlogging with my Sony Alpha 7IV with a Sony PZ 16-35 mm lens, mounted on the Dji RS 3 Mini. And are you kidding me with that depth of field?!
Same and almost same setup! A7c with 16-35 pz. I leave the gimbal at home cause Resolves stabilizer is 90% good enough. But! I’m interested in a smaller setup like the Pocket 3. Just ordered one. 😃
I have teally been wanting to make RUclips content, but havent been able to fund the equipment to get started with something that would create acceptable quality videos... do you think this device would be good enough to get started in making RUclips videos?
You can’t have it track a moving car for photos or long exposures because you aren’t parallel to the subject and the front and back would get closer and further away skewing the image.
love the content as always! couple questions on the motion lapses: have the ability to setup a tlit+pan movement for a 'lapse? also wondering if you can shoot raw photos rather than doing video? thanks m8!
Yeah you can control the motion of the motionlapses. I don't see a way to configure them to record stills... it seems to only save it to a video. However, I found the exposure to be really accurate and smooth.
I struggled a long time how to do tilt and pan movements and finally ended up purchasing an Insta360 X3. I'm super happy with that camera as I can decide in post how I want the tilt or pan movement. Also it is great for fake drone shots in case you want to film in an no fly zone or other similar restricted area. Maybe @TonyAndChelsea can do a comparison of the in camera object tracking of the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and the object tracking in post with Insta360 X3 footage. Especially tracking fast moving objects like a train is passing by on full speed and of course face tracking.
Thank you for this video, I think you’ve convinced me to buy one. Chelsea, I love your Coach handbags. I noticed the Tabby in this video and the Ellie with rivets in another video (I have the same ones 😅)
Using M50 mark ii and badly need a second camera but at this rate, dji osmo pocket 3 could turn my Canon M50ii into the 2nd camera and it's a lot cheaper + 4k videos too
Yes, you can connect it to DJI RC-2 & RC Pro too, but it WON'T transmit SOUND. Not over Bluetooth anyway. So I have to travel with DJI Mic 1, Pocket 3, AND DJI Controllers. So annoying. At least until the full Mic 2 kit arrives with receiver, at which point Mic 1 is obsolete. DJI needs to allow it to pair with their drone controllers, until then it's not helpful, I'm better just rolling with the old Mic.
They said they were not sponsored - but was DJI threatening them? I noticed they were able to get outside and drive away - but suddenly it cut and they were back in their house.
Ok I'm really confused... the sensor and other specs sound amazing, but the image looks absolutely terrible? Like, worse than an iPhone. WTF?! Maybe it's the stock over-sharpening and that you didn't shoot in D-Log?
Maybe worth the upgrade for my osmo pocket 1. These are perfect for EDC. It lives in my handbag. But then again most of the time I have a real camera with me.

But I discovered all sorts of things that could be connected to the USB-C port of that camera - eg the Sennheiser Ambeo binaural headset, and Tascam audio recorders with built in mics, as well as 'normal' USB mics including the rather good stereo one from Shure. But of course, YMMV.
Can this be used as a Webcam for live streaming? If so this will definitely be my next purchases. It would crush the competition with that feature.
Apparently so according to some reviewers.
Does it continually record until the memory card is full? I need that feature.....
Can you use the mimo app to control the direction of the pocket3? i.e manually move the camera arcound and have the pocket 3 follow? Can you do a video about it?
Yes and yes.
It does show audio level...great intro to an amazing product.
Really hope I'm early enough...
f4, f5.6, f8, f11, f16.
Can you two please explain what the F, "f" means?
See what I did there? 😎
Also...what or where is the 50mm is in a 50mm, lens? (Or any x,mm lens for that matter)
I really need to get better understanding of this.
Thank you!
Love your videos!
I love your new studio setup, looks clean. Nice review. Would love to see open gate so we can create both vertical and horizontal versions of our footage in post.
It probably does not have enough processing power (w/o overheating) for a full-frame video (4k at 60 fps).
Chelsea, I’ll never give you a thumbs down, I promise 🥺
I have teally been wanting to make RUclips content, but havent been able to fund the equipment to get started with something that would create acceptable quality videos... do you think this device would be good enough to get started in making RUclips videos?
yeah this is our current recommendation.
Is the joystick variable? As in if you move it further from centre does it move faster?
I've seen comments that it doesn't unfortunately.
is it 4:2:0 recording or 4:2:2?
4:2:0
I think I really want this because of your review!
Why should I buy this over my iPhone 15 pro max? Video quality?
Could you test the low light but with rear camera for iPhone side by side?
Wondering if this is more comparable to the Go Pro, rather than the iPhone?
Bloopers at the end is a nice touch.
You can’t have it track a moving car for photos or long exposures because you aren’t parallel to the subject and the front and back would get closer and further away skewing the image.
You'd be moving with the car.
Looks like it's time for me to upgrade my Pocket1. I've already replaced my OM2 and Action1 with the latest iterations.
would some other microphones like the rode wireless mics be able to connect to it?
No
Not direct but if the receiver for the rode has a USB-C output, you can connect that.
love the content as always! couple questions on the motion lapses: have the ability to setup a tlit+pan movement for a 'lapse? also wondering if you can shoot raw photos rather than doing video? thanks m8!
Yeah you can control the motion of the motionlapses. I don't see a way to configure them to record stills... it seems to only save it to a video. However, I found the exposure to be really accurate and smooth.
@@TonyAndChelsea how about live stream from it to youtibe or facebbok. If it possible ?
I struggled a long time how to do tilt and pan movements and finally ended up purchasing an Insta360 X3. I'm super happy with that camera as I can decide in post how I want the tilt or pan movement. Also it is great for fake drone shots in case you want to film in an no fly zone or other similar restricted area. Maybe @TonyAndChelsea can do a comparison of the in camera object tracking of the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and the object tracking in post with Insta360 X3 footage. Especially tracking fast moving objects like a train is passing by on full speed and of course face tracking.
Hello, can you connect it with a wireless mic such AnkerWork Mic M650? Thanks
Not direct but if that mic's receiver has USB-C output, or can work with a USB-C adapter from 3.5mm, then it should work.
Thank you@@Ozpeter
Thank you for this video, I think you’ve convinced me to buy one. Chelsea, I love your Coach handbags. I noticed the Tabby in this video and the Ellie with rivets in another video (I have the same ones 😅)
that filter feature sold me, thanks, that was soo funny
The deal breaker for me to get is clean video out 1080 would be sufficient. Does it have it?
@@mepe6809, so you don't buy any Ch. products, or just DJI's? That would be something... Many Japanese and Korean products are made in Ch. as well.
Loved the beauty filter on max! Both are attractive: add this feature and they become a bit scary!
This films better than my canon g7mark 2 I already ordered one here in Thailand I’m just waiting
Using M50 mark ii and badly need a second camera but at this rate, dji osmo pocket 3 could turn my Canon M50ii into the 2nd camera and it's a lot cheaper + 4k videos too
That A7SIII video is amazing.
Can I buy a single 'DJI 2' transmitter - I know the internal reciever can accommodate two transmitters. The DJI website doesn't show one.
I believe it's coming soon.
Great video! Love the humour 😂
Excellent overview. Thanks
Wondering if this could be the golfing vlog camera I’ve been dreaming about?
Tony you know?
You can set your camera display to sunny!!! 😜😜😜
Thanks for your review! 💪
Yep
Haha I love the bloopers at the end.
They said they were not sponsored - but was DJI threatening them? I noticed they were able to get outside and drive away - but suddenly it cut and they were back in their house.
All these videos are sponsored weather they say it or not. Notice how all these creators drop their video the same day.
It's not sponsored and no DJI did not threaten us, lol. Sorry we were bad at transitions.
So when you paired with one or two Mic 2, can the body also record audio simultaneously?
Yes, it can record two channels simultaneously.
Ok I'm really confused... the sensor and other specs sound amazing, but the image looks absolutely terrible? Like, worse than an iPhone. WTF?! Maybe it's the stock over-sharpening and that you didn't shoot in D-Log?
I wasn’t that impressed either , every reviewer swearing by this product but it has not wowed me. Coming from the pocket 2
Maybe worth the upgrade for my osmo pocket 1.
These are perfect for EDC. It lives in my handbag.
But then again most of the time I have a real camera with me.
I enjoy my pocket 2. I do not see a need to upgrade, or have any other camera at this point.
No comparisons against the 15 pro front cameras? That’s the real comparison for us light video shooters
Excellent and hillarious. Thank you.
