@@tucker12435 Fun fact, it costs more money to give someone the death penalty in a legal way than to keep them in prison for life. So our govt. is normally trying to prevent spending more money, but prisons are getting so crowded that we don't have that option in extreme cases.

@@gdust6579 He's still on trial. Expected to run into October. He already pled guilty in an attempt to show remorse and the defense is going to try to play to his 'mental problems'. But I'm sorry, when the jury watches his pre recorded videos about being the next school shooter, and they take the physical walk through the school, and hear testimony from survivors and parents of slain students, I highly doubt he's going to just get a life sentence, he's going to FRY for what he did and he deserves it in my wholehearted opinion.

You know this kid is a monster! But he was forged by everyone who failed him along the way. Teachers bullies, family and others all have blood on their hands and unless they admit that this will keep happening. He was screeming for help suffered mental trauma when his mother passed his brother didn't care about him you can tell that from the interigation video, he never told him he loved or cared about Nickolas until that point with the camera on and cop watching.
Teachers and custodians should have paid attention to the self harm the suicide attempts (no matter how minor or effective)
17 people died because no one cared enough to listen to the silent screems signs and actions. They knew his mental state his mental health issues, they knew his mother died they obviously knew he was a target at school (just looking at him tells you he was a target and kids are cruel)
They knew he had guns (here in Canada the RCMP would deny him based solely on his suicide attempts and maybe mental issues depending on severity)
The world needs to fix this and stop blaming firearms we need to help those long before they pick up a gun and constantly blaming firearms is not effective
Make it safer to report others or yourself so there's no shame or punishment if it's false make people feel safe to ask for help would be a good start

The one thing about the death penalty that I don't like is when someone is falsely accused and gets death. There's no question here that Nikolas Cruz is guilty. So there is no doubt that if he gets put to death that he was guilty and deserved it.

Our Justice System is horrendous. A police officer can walk free with pay after shooting an unarmed citizen, and a school shooter can maul 17 people in cold blood, but JUST get life in prison and LIVE the rest of his days however he chooses in the confines of his cell.
Insane, or not, if you take someones else's life and there is incontrovertible evidence that you did that act, you have forfeited your right to live and should unquestionably be executed in a timely manner (not this bullshit that drags on for years because of appeals).
I understand the legal defense team has a job to do, but it takes a special kind of person to defend a cold blooded mass murderer like this, all while trying to take the death penalty off the table. All for what? A win in the courtroom? A tally on your list of wins to add to your legacy as an Attorney? This.is.not.Justice.

No friends, dead parents, a brother that bullied him, girlfriend was screwing around with another dude who beat him up when he confronted him. A simple beating Dosent seem like much, but if you've ever been hurt like that, you know it messes with you psychologically. Drives you to want revenge. Not condoning his actions, but I feel for him. His mother left him an enormous amount of money, but he was hurting so badly that it wasn't enough to stop him. I say the death penalty is the best case for both parties. He gets to die, and the families have closure. You can't poke a tiger a hundred times and expect it not to snap. But you can't leave a homicidal tiger roaming around, either.
Then he could have asked organisations for therapy, for help, for LOTS of things. Yes he was going through a lot but so do a lot of us and it's no one's responsibility but our own to fix and try to make a better life for ourselves. I'm sorry but there's nothing that can justify what he done, and nothing ever will!

The state should be required to turn over the ALL evidence they have on this case... The state suggested that the defense should request the data from the these departments...The FBI and or Police department can deny or give limited access or refuse the data that the defense is requesting... IF the state has evidence the defense should also
All evidence does need to be handed over from the state to the defense but not vice versa cuz of attorney client privilege

@@repurposedart9897 Under the Brady law, once a written request has been sent to the prosecution, they have to turn over ALL material whether they use it or not. The defense does not have to turn over anything until the prosecution makes a written request for reciprocal discovery. Then the defense has to turn their stuff over. It's a formality, that is done automatically a little time after the charges are brought.

This might be a random question, why do lawyers have to explain the law to the judge? I thought in order to be a judge you need to know the law inside and out.
Im no expert in law but i have noticed that it's incredibly complicated and massively huge. A lot of the law gets interepreted different ways (on top of lawyers always looking to gain an edge for their side) and i think judges have the tough job of sifting through those interpretations and make decisions on their own knowledge of the law. It's a very loaded topic i'd say.

Cassie Terry Unfortunately, you could not be more wrong. There never has been a JUDGE who got a “job” for looking good. These Judges attend years of school - years of hard strong dedication. This is not your regular “application-interview” job. Please do your research before speaking about any judges in the future. It’s the least you can do in comparison to the hard work it takes for these judges to actually be in that position of honor.

Why have we not seen any of the school video footage, why were there multiple eyewitnesses saying they heard gunshots from multiple locations on the campus including while cruz was walking unarmed. Why was cruz unable to walk when he was arrested, appeared to be drugged heavily so much so he was taken to jail in an ambulance, they simply could not get him into the back of a patrol car. Why did a teacher say the gunman (20 ft away) was in full police gear when cruz had just a red shirt on. No eye witness identified the shooter as Cruz in a red t shirt. Why were several cops caught on video from news helicopter carriying a large duffle bag from the school tossing it into the back of a pickup and driving off fast? Why did his lawyer plead guilty before the sun went down the day of the shooting? Some defense lawyer. Too many unanswered questions.

This kid looks so much like my stepson. What is going wrong with this world, when children commit crimes like this. I find it so sad. Whatever happens to their upbringing where did all go so wrong. Not condoning what he has done, it just make me feel so sad, for everyone involved.
Don't overlook the possibility of mind control by those deep state operative tasked with pushing certain narratives like "school shooting", "mass shooting", etc. (in order to remove protections on liberties of Americans - especially second amendment). On one hand, I feel deep empathy for him-for his victims even more. I don't feel anger towards him-perhaps I would if I was the father of a victim. On another hand, it seems obvious to me that the most benevolent and productive system is one in which every member experience the full measure of the consequences of their actions. That is, a system that enforces the "reversed golden rule" (don't do to others what you wouldn't want done to you). I feel it's the moral duty of the system to do this, because if we don't, we certainly are helping malevolence take place. If punching someone always caused the exact same degree of pain in our own face, we would almost never do it.

@@lost619 He was very damaged in the womb by his biological mother, didn't develop well mentally, was adopted as a baby, saw his adoptive father die in front of him at about age 6, was ostracized by children for being different, then his adoptive mother died very suddenly from flu related pneumonia, then a woman who stole from him, took him in, not excusing him, but being that he was already disturbed, whatever stability he had was probably gone with the sudden death of his mother, just a few months before he killed those poor school kids and teachers. From what I've read, he gave lots of red flags, it's a shame no one took notice. Parkland police were also sued for not immediately going into the school. So many missed chances to save some of those kids. Tragic.
@@margaretr5701 that's exactly right, these cases are uses preventable to some degree. The warning signs are there he obviously needed help sooner. More should be done. I can understand the snapping side of things I went through a very traumatic childhood and even my early adult life up to a few years back. I was ready to snap and take revenge on those who hurt me not so much innocent people but I was hitting that stage I believed I was evil for so long but thankfully my adoptive family stepped in and took me away from my biological family and it helped save me and potentially others. So I know desperate times. It doesn't excuse what he did those kids were innocent and no one deserves to die. I know for me I spoke up and said what I was thinking. If your that ready to throw your life away ruin other people's lives and spend forever in jail or worse dead what harm can it do to ring 999 or 911 in this case and say look I have plans and I want to hurt someone help me. I get its not simple for everyone and as stated he had a lot of underlying issues so I think a lot of people could have helped prevent this tragedy.
