"No one cares, and no one's evening going to know you started a RUclips channel" is probably one of the most useful things I've ever heard! It's always a daunting thing putting something out in public for the first time worrying what everyone is going to think. I really like this video, it's so helpful and to the point. Ali is so relaxed in the way he describes things, and I can relate to the bit about casual or serious. I uploaded 19 videos over 6 months, but when I started uploading more (12 in the last month) I had more views in the last month than the previous six, plus a lot more subscribers.

@Comfy Tent There's a saying I heard in more than one RUclips video: the ones that give up are the ones that really fail. You just need to keep uploading as many quality videos and eventually will get there. Feeling positive about it is the key. But enjoying what you do is even more important! 🙂

Seems like you have really cool videos yet not that many views. Probably the algorithm’s fault. Do you share your videos with people? My unsolicited advice is that you should send your videos to friends and family and post it on social media like Facebook, Twitter, Reddit to get some traction. Eventually once it gets going the algorithm will take care of the rest. Just my 2 cents as someone who doesn’t make RUclips videos. That’s how I would approach it.

No, you *don’t* need money to be successful on RUclips. You *don't* need to have expensive cameras and lighting to look good. You *don't* need 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch time to start making money. You *don't* have anything to lose so just *START!* 💪🏻

I love this video and have gone back to this video multiple times. We always get caught up with making good stuff that we don't get past the "get going" stage and this is what I'll actually start. Just create videos for now to get comfortable with it because I LOVE speaking.

I just wanted to say I really appreciate the attention you've given to the option of treating it like a hobby. I get kind of frustrated when I look for advice for youtube creators and it's solely focused on branding, marketing, and maximizing revenue streams from day one.
I don't think there's anything wrong with that path if you ARE looking to start or support a business, but personally, I just want to create some nice relaxing videos that I'd want to watch. And I'm sure that there are many others out there who also just want to enjoy making stuff. Thanks for the video!

Hello Ali! Thank you for all the amazing content you do 🌸 I have a question: I’ve started a youtube channel twice now and got stuck in the get good phase because it was very hard for me to stay consistent. I enjoy much more working together with other people but would not make the money to hire people. I tried cooperating with friends but the commitments were never strong enough. Any suggestions how to involve other people in order to create an enjoyable process consistently? Thanks again, I always love watching your videos! 🌈🌈🌈

I like how you broke it all down into manageable sections. I'm definitely at Stage 1 at the moment but starting to make a push towards 2. When you cover a topic you enjoy it makes it so much easier to get motivated, but then taking it seriously and assuming for a particular audience or producing what your audience prefers, is a whole other kettle of fish. Thanks! 👍🏻🏃‍♂️😁

I absolutely love the video, it brings together what I've been "going through" with my German channel for almost 2 years now.
Super interesting to see what phases there are and especially how certain things happen all by themselves. Of course, with some planning or the help of this video, you're probably faster.
I'm at 200 videos and I feel like I would pass the Gringe Test now, but it's been a really long road to get here. Now my focus is on better understanding my audience and their fears, goals and problems, which will automatically lead to new videos.
A really exciting journey and thanks for the perfect summary.
