    If you do an EVGA build, you absolutely need to get a custom etched glass case panel so you can side-light "4090 FTW3". Use it a bit, but ultimately show it as a centerpiece for your collection. That's an awesome gift to have received, the end of an era and loss of a mighty warrior on the GPU battlefield.

      @ShimejiiGaming 2 года назад +55

      There is almost no profit in GPUs for AIBS at this point. The cost of R&D, Board making, custom bios etc, simply isnt worth making a card that is anything more then 50-150$ per card more expensive then what the Founders card is for NVIDIA. AMD cards really arent that much different as their reference has been within that 1-5% range which for most people is imperceptible. Look at the 3000 series disaster at the end with 3090s and 3090tis, they lost so much $ on them because the priced tanked (thankfully for us) but NVidia still charged them full price for them, and only gave a slight rebate on the lost cost. That razor thin margin is simply not enough to make GPUS a worthwhile endeavor other then just wanting your name out there and market share.

    • @jmusicca7779
      @jmusicca7779 2 года назад +17

      @@ShimejiiGaming i don't know about that - the top end gpus were way overpriced for 2 years due to scalping so i think they all made serious bank. And the problem is really with nvidia selling founders cards and binning them for themselves, limiting partners designs so they don't compete too well etc. etc.

    • @doabrad1850
      @doabrad1850 2 года назад +24

      I'd love to see it. While us AMD people have awesome manufacturers like Sapphire, EVGA stepping foot in the AMD GPU scene would give some serious competition to manufacturers like Sapphire, XFX, PowerColor, etcetera, and more competition only results in better and cheaper products.

    Just so you know. I’ve flashed the strix 600 watt vbios to my MSI gaming trio that had a 450 watt bios. Everything works perfectly. I believe most boards can be flashed with another vbios. I wouldn’t have experimented without the dual bios present to unbrick it. Flashed no problem. Card finally pushes 580-600 watts when it needs it with a high clock rate. Instead of the gaming trios 450 max. I couldn’t overclock the vram nor clock anywhere near what I can do now. The temps are running 67cel full load average.

    That’s super cool that they were able to provide you with that additional VBIOS and software that they didn’t have to make, since the audience of only small handful of people isn’t going to make a difference and they aren’t going to need it for future products. Clearly those guys really loved what they did and were so proud of their work that they wanted to make sure their final work got presented in the best light. It’s just a shame it has the engineering sample silicon that’s never as strong as the retail versions.

    14:30 Those spire looking things are the faces showing from misplaced vertices. Instead of the vertices being with all the other vertices making an object, one will be someplace else and all the faces between that vertice and the surrounding ones will be stretched across the screen. If you need a better understanding of it, open a scene in Blender(with textures applied) then select a vertice and drag it to a random spot far away from where it is supposed to be. That is exactly what's happening in Port Royal except it's an XYZ coordinate error in Port Royal. So what is it thinking is there? It is thinking what's really there is there and nothing more.

They're not going to see a nickle come back to them for the investment... but their people are so passionate about their craft that they're giving Jay updates for it to say "Look how fucking good we are." That's something that is lost on a lot of companies today, and why I'm going to miss them as a GPU manufacturer. They don't just build stuff -> Get money. They build stuff because they're passionate about what they do. We lost so much in the PC gaming industry with EVGA's move this year... I think a lot of people don't understand how much we've lost. They made the move they made BECAUSE of their passion, I get that... but the industry as a whole is worse for it.

      Every company builds stuff to make money. All of them, you're missing the point. They don't ONLY build stuff to make money. They take pride in their work. They're passionate about what they do. There is a distinct difference between that attitude and trying to differentiate yourself in the marketplace.
      The community lost a company that you can call at 3am and get someone in the US that not only is happy to talk to you, but actually knows what they're doing.
      The community lost a company that not only tries to differentiate themselves in the marketplace like the other brands do, they do it by also doing a good job supporting the product they sell. Have you ever called Asus? MSI? Did you have a good time?
      The community lost a company that differentiated themselves by pushing the industry forward. EVGA Precision is an industry leading software product that they don't HAVE to build, but they do. The only thing that is on their level is MSI Afterburner. No one else makes anything that comes close.
      I've been building PC's for 30 years. I work in the industry. I follow trends in the industry. You've added absolutely nothing to this conversation but some undeserved condiscention. Jay thank you so much for calling out the weird little intricacies we see at home with testing/adjusting and commenting on it with your experience. I feel like that kind of stuff gets glossed over a lot on other channels, but I appreciate it here.

    I wish EVGA had the capital and talent to enter the GPU space as their own brand. I’ve been a pc gamer since the early 90’s. I’ve had so many EVGA components over the years, and they always had fantastic customer support.

    100% would like to see a EVGA build.
    They made DDR4 also, my system (8700k with 2 EVGA SC2 hybrid 1080ti’s) has had 32gb of their super clocked ram in it for the last 5 years.

    Check out RX-10 voice denoise to fix that noise pumping problem every time Jay talks and your compressor pushes the audio up with the noise. He sounds like a faucet is turning on every time there's an audio dip and then talks.

    There seems to be sound issues with this video. at 6:24 onward, there seems to be some static or hissing everytime Jay is talking on his mic. It seems to stop when he stops talking. Looked through the comments and surprised no one has mentioned it. Enjoyed the video, but the static was very distracting.

    Love the content Jay!
    I hear you have a really harsh gate for the the background noise but man when it kicks in and out the noise is insane. You guys should try using a noise filter plug-in on your mic in post to remove all the background noise from your mic then you don’t need a noise gate because it’s not working great. Keep up the cool vids!
