Hi Jay. Yesterday I watched one of your SHORTS on RUclips. The title was "This would be a Disaster for Your PC!!!" Your video concerned using PSU cables other than the ones packaged with the PSU. I had to say, "What!" I agree with you except for one thing. If a PSU producer changed the actual wiring in its PSU cables, the cables could only be used on MBs that matched the wiring in the PSU cables. I know of no case where this is true except, for example, an Alienware PC. The only way cables from one PSU would cause problems if used in a different brand of PSU would be if the wires were miswired in the PSU itself. This crossed-wired situation happened to me once. Many years ago, when I purchased a 5 1/4-inch HDD, the MOLEX connectors were connected to the wrong pins, resulting in a fried hard drive. My sons upgrade will be my current rig, but I don't think I'm going to build a new one for myself this time. Literal decades, the level of experience to be able to tell people that it's not worth it. Go outside. I've started hunting again and on those days I can't even sit at my desk or turn the machine on, my brain won't even go there. Logout and shutdown, young man.
Jay, I had the direct die problem. They sent me both a revised cold plate and die guard and then it worked as expected. I can’t tell the difference looking at the die guard but can tell the cold plates are different. You can easily tell from looking at it that they changed the milling pattern. Before it was a circle around the middle. Now there is still an arc to the pattern but it’s a very wide arc so there no center point to it. It’s more going straight across long ways. It’s also a smoother more mirror finish. The original pattern felt like there was a dimple in the middle.

I still need to go to a machine shop and get custom radiator brackets made, because I'm a lunatic and I decided to hang 3 rads and 12 fans in a sandwich off the top bar of the chassis (and hopefully probably not breaking the tube). Humorously I also chose to go with soft tube and an F1 theme, probably because of your initial video on the announcement of the chassis. Love the build! And I'm jealous of that power board!

At 16:58 "They're both fluids".... Correct, but that's not why using are to pressure test your water loop works.... It works because water is bigger than air, in essence. Add to that water's surface tension that are does not possess. I've seen people with pinpricks in tubes on motorcycle tires they would use water to fill the tube and it would not leak....you are doing the reverse, using something smaller to try to find a hole.
thanks a lot to finally see the finished build. it turned awesome. the only thing I don't love are the soft tubes and the way their bows. but hey, I get it, it is a very subjective opinion. and, if you should change your mind later on, it is still possible to go with hard tubes. nicely done, thanks guys. long live evga!
On one hand, it's a real shame EVGA has basically ceased to exist in any real capacity, but on the other hand, I'm not really sad about it because I never even touched any of their products thanks to their absolutely insane pricing where I live. GPUs priced at nearly twice as much as their competitor for nearly the same results, any MoBo with useful features with such jacked-up prices over their "standard" cousins the Nvidia pricing made more sense (which led to many stores no longer selling them), their power supplies being in a weird spot where they are trying to compete with Seagate, yet being priced exactly the same.
Now you need an Eurolite gauge with loop pressure, blowoff valve sound when load decreases, pulsing golden underglow neon and a DANGER TO MANIFOLD warning when CPU/GPU throttles.
That build deserves custom loop hardline tubing, looking at that awesome carbon frame. Do they make hardline tubing with carbon fiber look? if not you could Hydro Dip the tubing to get the look of carbon fiber. Jay, maybe you could do a video about hydro dipping hardline tubing to see if it would actually work.
I had a thought on loop layout. Yeah I know you're "finished", BUT take the top radiator and turn it around so the fittings are on the front. Would match the line into the CPU block and the one that goes to the block after the radiator would layout better also.
My newest system build uses a black Lancool 216. It is a great case to do assembly in, I really like the provided fans, I wouldn't hesitate to build in one again.
Their DG-87 PC case is still my all time favorite case. The space, cable management and ease of cleaning was second to none. The air flow was decent as well.
I love the theme of your pc, Jay. I really love the aesthetics of Black + Gold combination. One of my personal favorites and gold mines of themes. Aside from that, R.I.P EVGA. You were never a bad company.
My first own GPUs were EVGAs, the 960 or 970 (can't remember) still runs in an older PC of a friend and I've retired my 1070 ftw this year for a 4080 because it can't handle my two 32" WQHD monitors properly, especially during gaming. The 1070 never had any (other) problems or weird noises and I'll never give it away. I was sad when I've heard they stopped making GPUs because I wanted a 40 series card from them so much.
Absolutely beautiful build. I have bought many PC parts over the years, especially, GPU's and a lot of those parts were EVGA very much like their products. It was a sad day when they announced they would no longer be doing GPU's. The last GPU I bought for my personal rig was from EVGA and was a 3080TI. I will most likely never get rid of it.
It's so sad to see the death of such a customer-focused company.

Holy frickin crap!! Jay that build bro!! Omg it’s PERFECTION!!! I’d give anything for that 4090!!

"They're both fluids"....
That may be the most beautiful PC builds I've ever seen. :)
I love the aesthetic of that tubing. I actually like that better than hard tubing.
My only tip for you is to buy an automotive braiding kit to suit the outer diameter of the soft tubing and braid it black.
Easily the best case under $100 I've build in. For the price it's in a league of its own
Beautiful build. Hoping EVGA sticks around as I absolutely loved their products.
Their DG-87 PC case is still my all time favorite case. The space, cable management and ease of cleaning was second to none. The air flow was decent as well.
That turned out so sick man! Awesome build!
That is a fricking beautiful build. The analog dials... just wow.
I love the theme of your pc, Jay. I really love the aesthetics of Black + Gold combination. One of my personal favorites and gold mines of themes. Aside from that, R.I.P EVGA. You were never a bad company.
Thanks for the conversion:- 5/1000th of a football field is 0.127mm. The build looks fantastic.
Phil went hard with that camera work on the montage
A very well thought out & beautiful build!
