I got the Grant Stone Field Boot and wore it in the dome to replace my Nick's Renegade's I sized wrongly in. The top eyelets are a bit annoying and I plan to put them through the ringer. On the Badalassi Carlo leather I do wish that they had used the same padded smooth collar as opposed to the suede. This is my first 7" boot but so far so good. @@DalesLeatherworks So far so good! I have a pair of Nick's 10" Dark Brown Essex boots coming along nicely too! Friction scuffs are darker, slow abrasions are lighter in color. @@DalesLeatherworks Thanks again Dale. One last question I picked up the Field Boot in a half size down from my Brannock and there is still a ton of volume there. I might need to switch to a medium weight from a light weight wool sock. Would full sizing down with an E width help with that in the future? Just curious now exactly it might affect the fit in your experience. I can't imagine more volume but could actually do with just a little bit less.
Just saw in rose anvils video that the bumper is not actually a 2 piece construction. It is more like the cap toe on the thursday captain and not the cap toe on iron ranger. It is more for the looks. I personally like the look so it is not a problem for me.

I've had mine for over a week and am digging them. I think they came with laces that are way too skinny and flimsy. These boots are begging for leather or paracord laces...
hi Dale, i really love the field boots, i’m very tempted to buy a pair. Also Dale i believe that extra stitching in the back heel area is solely to help protect ur boots from when people kick of their boots with their boots. so basically it prevents you from ruining your boots rather then a heel support. thanks again, Kevin

I'm curious, what width is your foot? I have a kinda long arch compared to my foot length and I'm on the narrow end of D borderline C in width, but my toes are definitely D width. I'm a 12D, and I'm wondering if I should go with an 11.5D, 11E, or an 11D in the Floyd last. I have Diesels in 12D and 11.5D, and cap toes in 11.5E. The 12D and 11.5E work with thick socks, and work well with insoles, and the 11.5D works with boot socks but is still slightly big in the quarters with regular-thin socks. I think on the Leo last 11D would be too cramped in the toes, but the Floyd last is a little bigger in the toe box so maybe it'll work best?
I have had these boots for a few months now. I will mainly use them as my winter boots. I live in Norway so from September to May will be the colder season. The boots are great. The only problem is wet conditions. I used them this afternoon when I prepared a scene trail for my dog. The grass was very wet and after 10 minutes the water penetrated through the welt.
I thought about getting them in waxed rough out to prevent this but ended up ordering chromexl. Hopefully it can be oiled or waxed to help water resistance
Just received mine today, bison walnut. Only thing I don't like is two top D loops for laces, I would prefer eyelets or hooks. Usually I don't lace top eyelet/hook, but if I don't do it on these boots D rings rattle
@@DalesLeatherworks I think they would work excellent with the laces that they come with. I put a pair of Dark Umber Laces from Guarded Goods in them. But I ordered 3 pairs in them. I tried the 11E in Saddle Tan because of your recommendation and actually have a second in Walnut Bison (one is a seconds). Turning them into my beaters and one is in the Dome. The seconds arrived in time for Dome and the others arrived today.
I've got a pair of shoes with all D loops and I really like them! I wonder how this boot might look with that configuration. It helps if the laces are extra long because it's tricky to relace them.
I absolutely agree 100%!!!! I have the walnut bison in this model and I think they’re incredible!!!! Thank you 🙏 Grant Stone and Wyatt for releasing these just in time for moctober! Lol I’m going to enjoy these and probably am going to buy the saddle tan too!!! Great job Dale buddy!

Looking to get this exact boot. I have no experience with grant stones. What size would you suggest for reference I wear 10.5 in vans authentics and I have relatively narrow feet. Thanks!
I have this boot along with the two other GS boots in this leather. The leather on this field boots seems to have a slightly different tannage as it is much more pliable than the previous iterations of saddle tan. I kind of liked that ultra firm and heavy veg tannage of my other GS boots and was looking forward to it on this boot. I think GS might have been too concerned about break in issues and opted for a milder tannage with this boot. Other than that nice boots.
Other than the ball of the 8E being slightly down from where it sits on the 8.5D, is the 8E wider than the 8.5D? Or you think they are the exact same width?
Can you tell me why you would 'hike' in leather boots vs some of top of the line hiking boots or even trail running shoes? It seems like people are trying really hard to wear their leather boots with sacrifice in hike related performance.

How do these fit compared to redwings ?

They fit differently, in general I’d say grant stone fits a half size larger than redwing in most cases! I take my RW in 8.5D and my Grant Stone in 8E
theyre not my style but they look great as usual from grant stone
Just a piece of art

Same exact width no doubt about it
