Your passion for boots comes across on everyone of your review videos, and for that I thank you.
hey no problem with your child
visiting the show. she is very
precious. and totally understand my friend
Great review the Grant Stones are my next boot. You’re making me rethink my love for rubber soles on boots now!
thanks so much!!! yes rubber soles are great but leather soles have grown on me considerably
@@DalesLeatherworks I'm considering getting these and putting sole protectors and triumph toe tips, do you think its worth adding those things?
Aerosurferlv has done a new clip on leather soles. In short, leather sole + steel toe
What you said about plain toe boots allowing the leather to speak for itself uninterrupted is a profound statement! You might just revolutionize my thinking with that. Maybe my next purchase will be a killer leather in a plain toe style?
yeah man it's true, it's the way of unabashedly letting the leather express itself. I initially thought plaintoe boots were boring, but as my collection grew, I realized plain toes are so effortless to pull off and so boldly beautiful. can't wait for our real boot talk brother!!!!
I felt the same as both of you. I was a cap toe guy and thought plain toes were so boring as well. But it was plain toe cordovan boots that changed my opinion and showed how plain toe could better showcase the leather and creases/folds. I'm now no longer a cap toe or plain toe guy, I like them both equally and it just depends on makeup or my mood when deciding which I prefer.
Great vid-appreciate you taking the time and effort. I really enjoyed it.
thanks so much for the thoughtful feedback my friend!!!
Thumbs up for reviewing the boots as I'm planning to get in Aero jacket after Christmas. Plus I enjoyed the interruption. :-)
I noticed that you've added soft taps to the boots. When should I add some to my boots: before wearing them outdoors or after the wear pattern has been determined?
They actually recommend adding the taps immediately when they’re new so that they’re perfectly level
I can believe that Jake's Badalassi leather boot feels less stiff than the Diesel. He's right, just based on look the Diesel looks stiffer. I also own the Badalassi Diesel and agree that it's stiff and my two Maryam horserump Truman boots are quite stretchy and pliable. It must just be something about the way Grant Stone chooses the leather or constructs the boots because I also own Diesels in Dume and Crimson CXL and they both feel stiffer than all my other CXL footweae by Viberg, John Lofgren, Alden and Allen Edmonds.
great video. Here in Europe we'd refer to those shoes as bluchers, not the derbies. But this is really getting geeky.
Love seeing the young Lady! Beautiful! The boots aren’t bad either my friend
I'm still skeptical of buying a boot with a leather sole, but it is true that if you are walking on ice you need metal cleats to keep from slipping. Short of something that is specifically meant to not slip on ice any sole will feel slick.
yessir so true, I should have mentioned that! metal cleats are probably the ONLY soles capable of preventing you from sliding all over the place!!!
Non controversial people are boring.
so very true my friend :-D
I love these, I just wish a different sole was offered, or even pre installed sole protectors.
Chromexel tanned leather is a combination tanned leather; vegetable/chrome leather.
yessir!
Dale:"I agree, there's something divine about the smell of Badalassi !" Hahaha! Now I gotta check it out sometime. As for icy conditions, only strapping on removable cleats will give any real grip.
yessir, I would highly recommend you give badalassi a try!!! great point about the cleats!!!!
@@DalesLeatherworks I keep them handy in the truck cos in many winter conditions here in AK, it doesn't matter what sole the boots have, ice is ice! :)
@@georgecarlin2879 that is indeed wise!!! I'd definitely get some of those too if I lived up there!!
Seeing Jake broughte to you channel, buy I'm here to stay. It appears you and I have similar collections lol
that's so great to hear my friend!!! Jake is a hell of a guy!!!!
Wonderful informative interview. Well done.
thanks so much!!!! very much appreciated
I knew badalassi leather is really famous, just don’t see them in boots very often, might give that a try
yes it is quite incredible :)
Hey nice video. I was curious what conditioner you use/recommend to care for the badalassi veg-tan leather.
I’ve seen some reviews where they confuse the saddle tan with the natural Minerva, both being veg tan but with very different results.👍
I have a pair of these on order.
What shoe cream are you using on them?
Thanks
Aren’t these harder to break-in then the diesel cxl’s? If so, is there a significant comfort different between the two?
Wow, the color is absolutely beautiful and super rich. Did you darken the boots at all? How long have you had them? Thanks and great video bro.
thanks so much!!! nope no treatment or darkeners so far, I plan to ride these out as is!!!!
@@DalesLeatherworks Got it, thanks man
amazing shoes!
Uh, I think a smokejumper might disagree with cowboys being the “roughest of the rough” on boots 😉
Yup, really nice pair, and the video bombs are really cool! LOL!
hahahahaha yep they're unavoidable at this point X-D
I would have bought this boot already if it came with a rubber sole. I have a ton of boots and dress shoes. I don't understand why boot makers are putting leather soles on a rugged boot. Dress boots yes. A winter time boot needs a rubber sole. Figure it out Grant Stone and then take my money lol
hahahaha my mentality exactly; once they nail the perfect makeup, I give them my money!!!
@@DalesLeatherworks exactly. I saw they just did a restock and once again.. leather soles. I live in the midwest. When it's fall and winter I only wear boots. Get me a boot thats made to be worn in winter elements.
What happened to Jake's channel? I miss it.
man great question, i'll have to ask him
37:53 😂😂 it’s funny to say but I want a boot that I actually WANT to treat like that.
Amen!!!
Love calibration videos
What is the other pair of boots in the video thumbnail?
Mine are grant stone Diesels in saddle tan Veg and Jake’s are his white clouds
Your a expert….your too humble man!
Aww she must be school age now. Great boots too
Sweet boots
Hahaha!! I love that she plans to bomb and that you keep it in the video … she’s too cute
I've owned the grant stone diesel in veg tan for a week now and they are the most uncomfortable boots I've ever owned. I went by all the reviews and got them, but those reviews seem to be all hype. These boots are so hard on the foot.
Hello.. it is hard if is your first veg tan boot. That leather in particular needs more time to brake compare to chrome tan leather.
Sounds like you just like saying badass leather lol
hahaha guilty as charged!!!
Grant Stone is trash but I guess it's ok if you can't afford anything better.
😂Okay
Cowboys wear leather sole boots for tradition but they also slide out of stirrups easier. That makes them a safety choice. I do find them comfortable though.
