I am from Buffalo and know Andrew personally, it turns out we even graduated from the same high school. I now own five pairs of Parkhurst boots, all totally unique, which I wear for different occasions. I can honestly say the build, attention to detail, comfort, and fit is bar none, and I own several pairs of high end boots by other brands. Andrew is unique because he is a grass roots guy who will meet you at the local cobbler with a couple pairs of his boots to try on while taking the time to engage in light hearted conversation about boot culture. I honestly admire Andrew because he doesn't come across as a businessman at all, just an everyday guy who had a vision of how to make a great pair of boots at an affordable price, and then saw it through to fruition. I am happy for him that his company survived the local shutdowns after COVID and he was able to keep his company afloat so that he could come back with a vengeance with the beautiful line up of spanish sourced leathers he offers today. Well done Andrew, Buffalo applauds you.
You’re not just a source of knowledge on boots but also a friendly virtual escape from the everyday things that get us down. Thank you for your passion and positivity. It’s highly contagious
Great insight on both companies. Thank you for making this video. I have to say that you sir, hold a very coherent and cursive monolog. You have very well articulated ideas and present your arguments in a very logical manner. You sound like an intelligent individual. It is a pleasure to hear your talk.
Both brands are well constructed and will last for years if looked after properly. For me they compete in the same segment of the smarter casual boot, and both experiment with different leathers. I have a 9.5E Brannock sizing and the Grant Stone in 9E fit perfectly with medium/thin socks and 8.5EEE with thick socks. The Parkhurst only come in D width, so on their advice I went for a 9.5D and it fits perfectly with medium/thin socks. Basically I look for new leathers that interest me and buy from either brand happily.
I have the same brannock. I also wear 9.0E in grant stones and could also do 8.5EEE though the heel isn’t as secure, but couldn’t do the Parkhurst 602 in 9.5D without having extremely painful pinky toes.
@@xaerovette Its going to depend on whether you have a high instep as well which is going to pull the leather in tighter around your foot. I have found that Brannock alone is an indicator but not accurate by itself, some lasts have a low instep like parkhurst which effectively make them feel narrow on a high volume foot. At least this is my experience so far.
I love your boot reviews, but I especially appreciate your insight on the economic aspects of boot making in this video. Due to your background as a business consultant, you are able to offer a perspective that other boot reviews are unable to provide. I own 2 pair of Grant Stone and the Brass boot fits my foot perfectly. The quality and materials are outstanding.
Love this long detailed comp. I don't have and doesn't know much about Parkhurst Brand but will check out website after what you had to say about the company and the founder Andrew. The boots, style, leather, pricing resonate. I'm all into Grant Stone, onto a fifth, this time the Brass boots in saddle tan to patina in due time naturally. Yes, more of your videos and more
all this great information excellently presented and basically for free! thanks! that GS offers true wides as opposed to making a size adjustment (which can be a dicey proposition if done entirely online) gives them an edge in terms of my next purchase. thanks again.
Great video again. I had an issue with a grant stone and they handled it exceptionally well. Was always concerned about buying boots online, but thanks to their quality products and good service I Will definitely buy grant stone again.
I always appreciate your videos! I ended up buying a Grantstone Ottawa around November 2023 while they were on sale at 298 usd before the discount, and your video influenced my purchase. May I ask if my leather boots are suitable for snowy weather? While I have no intentions to get these boots soaked or wet in rain or snow, I want to know if I can wear them in snow. For me, stepping on snow does not worry me as I assume the leather sole should be ok, but sometimes streets and sidewalks are treated with snowmelt, which may be bad for the boots.
In context, there’s no snow in Australia, but from what I know you won’t damage them. Just dry naturally before wearing again. Leather soles are not exactly grippy in snow though!
Another outstanding video review and an INCREDIBLE comparison between both brands. So much i resonate with in this one because I am a big fan of both. Well done Teik!!!!
Haha🤣 but seriously the “inboard” moc toe stitch and less obvious high wall around the apron make this a lot less moc-toey than say Red Wings or Thorogood.
Aesthetics aside. It all comes down to the last. The Parkhurst 602 last makes it the best fitting boot I've ever worn. Years of martial arts widened my forefoot but kept my heels "normal." The Parkhurst shift from D heel to E forefoot is not only perfect, but it also aligns with the natural spreading of the foot when it makes contact with the ground.
I’m fortunate enough to own both brands too but for me the decision factor was the last. I very narrow feet, my left foot is a 10b and my right foot is a 10c. I also have low arches and thus have low volume feet. As a result, I’m ideally a 9c but I can fit into an 8.5D from grant stone but 8.5D from the old Parkhurst last is a little too short so I reach for my grant stones a lot more. That being said, they are both amazing boots.
Good afternoon. I was curious to your opinion on fir for the Brass Boot in Earth. I have your same Parkhurst Allen in Spruce kudu size 10.5. Perfect fit. Should I go with a 10 in the Brass Boot? Or stay with the 10.5 ?
Sizing for GS has been difficult for my wider feet because the brand increases the length of the boot as you increase width. I think I have to go down a full size in their shoes because my EE/EEE width.
New subscriber here, that was an excellent review. I own a pair of Diesel's and they're easily my favorite pair of boots (Red Wing and Thursday's are my other pairs).

Great video as always-can you give me a suggestion on the rugged kind of boots that is comfortable on your feet standing and walking most of the day-thanks you -im debating between these two.
Great Video (as usual). I just ordered my first pair of GS and I kind of feel like I’m cheating on Andrew. Andrew’s customer service is definitely above and beyond. I was having an issue with a boots fit (a second nonetheless) and he took care of me without hesitation.
For those that try to buy American this is tough. For me I try to buy USA as much as I can but obviously that’s impossible. All my clothes are USA made. However there’s definitely a bias towards made in China because of the thinking it’s not good quality and mass produced. But you make a good point it’s what the entity demands in production, quality and QC.
At this point I have one Grant Stone Brass boot on the Floyd last, one Grant Stone Diesel on the Leo last and one Parkhurst Richmond on the 602M last. I love GS, recommend them to friends and family, and am buying shoes from GS for my daughters (the Black Friday sale already started) as holiday gifts. But personally I prefer the 602M last over both of the GS lasts. The 602M seems more contoured and offers more in the way of arch support than the GS lasts. Also, when you lace up the Richmond, there is more of a gap between the laces at the top of the boot and it just looks better. On both pairs of GS boots, the lace holes almost touch above the ankle; there’s a good 1/2 inch or so on the Richmonds. Just giving my two cents.
Hi, great review. Between these 2 brands, are the weight in general similar? Of all the brands you have, which brand would you say is on the lighter side? I just got my Grant Stone Kudu Brass Boot Snuff Reverse Kudu and they are heavy. Thanks
Great information. Thanks so much. Keep up the good work, I learn so much from your videos. My next interest are Trickers. Do you think the more expensive or the ones from England are any lighter or heavier ?
I see. Would you think that the Kudu, rough out, or suede variant would break in any faster when compared to traditional leather like chromxcel variant ? They (JK OT) claim Bison is much softer and almost required no break in. You think that is true? On my wish list also. BTW, I like the area you live, is it more semi countryside living? Seems spacious, spread out and not over populated.
Wonderful comprehensive comparison between the two companies. Thank you! In your opinion, which Grant Stone boot designs are best for supporting high arches?
@@Bootlosophy Great...thanks! Are you familiar with Crockett & Jones? Last week I tried on a pair of the Islay in dark brown scotch grain, and they're really something.

Very thorough. One idea for improvement- micing yourself would do wonders for audio and eliminate the echo.
I bought a pair of Grant stone Ottawa kangaroo boots. And then Facebook dropped Parkhurst and Amberjack ads all over. I wish someone besides RM Williams can make a kangaroo leather Chelsea boot. How does RM compare to GS?
I'd love to buy either of these, but paying upwards of 30% for tax + import duties to get it to the UK.... Yeah I ain't doing that. My only hope is buying from the used market because fuck that.
