I am not Russian, but must admit that the grand scale, the bloodshed, the emotional intensity is felt the most in the Soviet campaigns. The UK/US campaigns are good too, but not as moving as the Soviet ones. Also, I think COD5 aka World at War was the best WW2 COD ever. Cheers!

The Russian campaign in World At War is by far the darkest and most intense story in any of the COD games, Many of the things depicted were very much true since the Soviet Union lost the most out of any country in World War 2 and worst of all liberated many of the Nazi death camps including the infamous Auschwitz which was the most notorious concentration camp in Poland.

I'm not going to lie, I got introduced to PTSD when playing this game. Eviction was by far dark, and the atmosphere just felt like you were in the game itself, fighting with the soviet and pushing through Berlin.

This, Eviction had literal apocaliptic vibes to it. The combination of rain and thunder, the utter chaos, the bloodshed and explosions and intense street firefights in Berlin accompanied by the sound of Dies Irae by Mozart then the grizzly killer industrial metal guitar that follows once you get outside on the streets and start mowing down the germans. Everything played like a gigantic dark, apocaliptic ensemble from hell.

I feel as though you are immersed in the exact feelings of the protagonists, at least for me. When I got to Blowtorch and Corkscrew I found myself bored of the American campaign. Tired of fighting the Japanese and wanted to return to the Eastern Front. I was exasperated by the bloodlust within the battle of Berlin and felt so close to victory. But the Japanese remained stubborn and stood in the way. Leading to shuri castle, all I felt at the end was "That's it? It's over?" Compared to the gripping fall of the reichstag, where victory was achieved because of the blood paving the roads

@@user-kr6ih2gz5l I think it was as well, the Pacific campaign hardly ever gave the players a tine to take a breather. In the Berlin Campaign the very few moments of peace you get are saturated with the horrors of war. Yet you remained in zealotry, confident that you are in the right despite everything

I'll always love the little quote from Chernov's diary at the end of the game about Dimitri. There's 3 moments where you can kill people who were already dying/surrendering and the quote changes depending on how many times you kill them.
If you kill people all 3 times, the diary mentions that Dimitri is nothing more than a savage, no better than the rest and that he's no hero at all.
If you kill people only once or twice, he mentions that he's seen Dimitri give both mercy at times and complete brutality in others and that he doesn't quite understand you, but also mentions that maybe heroes don't really question their actions.
If you spare people all 3 times, he mentions Dimitri's bravely is beyond question, that he shows mercy amidst the brutality of the Red Army and that Dimitri is indeed a hero.

I always get chills hearing the Soviet war cry and music...you know Germany is about to get annihilated.
Attacking and betraying Stalin and the Soviet Union was Hitler’s downfall and the stupidest thing he could have done. Napoleon did it as well in 1812. You just DON’T attack Russia.
The eastern front was no joke. Pure insanity and disgusting. In some regions it made the western front look like a joke.
The sheer hatred between Germany and Russia was the stuff of nightmares. It’s what happens when you betray and attack someone and the PURE determination to make your enemy suffer.

    • @ArcticWolf00Alpha0

Well keep in mind that Germany and Russia signed a non-aggression pact when they invaded Poland, but Hitler had always intended to take over all of Europe, it was just a matter of when. And to an extent, Stalin wanted to invade Germany as well. With both Dictators and their egos, one of them was going to make the move eventually. It was just a matter of how it played out.

    • @themarketm8382
      @themarketm8382 Год назад +2

@@ArcticWolf00Alpha0 And Stalin after WW2 also had a plan devised with nuclear weapons to take control of the rest of European mainland (excluding GB&I) in 21 days. They feared though nuclear retaliation so they never did it. A lot of Soviets had been hidden from the truth of Stalin and when it was revealed the levels of atrocities he did in the secret speech, a lot of people were stunned because they didn't know anything about it.
It's insane though to think how small events in history have so much knock on effects later on. If Lenin had a better successor than Stalin the Soviet Union might have never been in a cold war, had Gorbachev held onto power and had better successors, we wouldn't have today's war and maybe outsourcing went to them rather than China which is now Soviet Union 2.0.
I wonder what other events have happened in the last couple years that we'll look back on at the end of this century and think we fucked up when we could have saved the world with one simple decision

This is before COD got all demonic and evil. I been playing these games for years I’m 42 now and I have seen the changes. When games were just games and didn’t sell you guns or perks and mods to where the only thing you bought was the disc itself. But today it’s all about money and demonic looking soldiers and evil call cards and shit that wouldn’t have made any sense years back. But as the years sneak up on us and everything changes so doesn’t the generations. And sadly this demonic new age is normal to the kids of today. Someone prove me rite!
