Miss Lori, I enjoy your videos so much. I never had anyone show me the cooking like you show and I just love it. Makes me feel like I"m there with you and that your teaching just me. Thank you for sharing your love of cooking and saving money and keeping traditions going. I so appreciate it. Enjoy your day! Catherine
Thank you so much for sharing these spice recipes. You are so rigjt about the dry onion soup and a roast. I have done that for years. A chuck roast in a slow cooker with a packet of dry onion soup mix, a can of golden mushroom soup and a can of cream of celery soup. Pour the dry soup and condensed soups over the pot roast and vegetables in your slow cooker. Rinse each soup can with a little water and pour into the slow cooker. Cook low 6-8 hrs. A great pot roast with a wonderful gravy. Love all of your videos. God bless
What a wonderful idea! I noticed that when I buy a mixed seasoning, sometimes there is a spice in the bottle I don't care for so when I make my own, I eliminate it. Thank you for sharing another great video Miss Lori. I hope you don't mind me saying how much I love yours and Mr Browns accent I think it's so lovely and can listen to you talk all day💜
I got those jars and put up my home grown dried herbs but they don't hold enough. Now I see that I need to make my own mixes with my dried herbs. I'll put the mixes in the cute bottles and my dried herbs in the empty coffee, creamer, etc. plastic containers. I couldn't find the Fiesta mix and wanted to try it so now - thank you very much, I'll make my own. Easy peazy!
I've been binge watching your videos in the evenings after my very loud and rambunctious little kids are in bed. It's relaxing to listen to your southern accent (I'm Canadian), sweet demeanor, and learning about your southern way of life and cooking.
Please keep these coming Miss Laurie!! I love dry seasoning mixes. I would love one for Italian Dressing. The kind you mix with oil & vinegar to make dressing.
I have started my "collection" of my own spices. It is so much better for celiacs cutting out all of the ingredients that your body does not need. Thanks, Miss Lori for sharing.
Simple and thrifty. Momma bought my sisters and I book called Make A Mix years ago... I need to haul that out and get busy! Thanks for the inspiration! As always continued blessings to you and yours. 💗🙏🏼💗
Miss. Lori, we are sooooooo much alike .... girl, I hit Home Goods often........ I pick up all kinds of jars and cute containers there....... cheep........ love ❤️ your make'ns...... thank you for you SHARING nature !!!!! Hello to Mr. Brown !
Lori thanks for this! My favorite is the onion soup mix, definitely going to make that! I am allergic to MSG and there isn't a brand on the market that I've found that doesn't have MSG in it so this is a game changer for me! And I save my old plastic bottles and use for my homemade mixes I especially like to save my big ones from Sam's that hold a lot and that way they already have the sprinkle top and I don't have to mess up a spoon measuring it out! LOL
For us, it is almost impossible to find onion soup mix that is gluten free. I can find taco mix and gravy mix that are gluten free, but they are almost $2 for a little pack. This is going to save me $ and I can bring back old favorites for my little girl. Her favorite is Brussel Sprouts, tossed with olive oil and onion soup mix, then roasted in the oven.
Hi Alicia, you can also save the shaker containers that parmesan cheese comes in. They are great to re-use. Another thing is the lids also fit a canning jar.
Loved this video! Please do a series on the mixes you make. Enjoy watching you so much. I feel like I am right there in your kitchen. God bless you and Mr. Brown.
I can’t thank you enough for these recipes! I’ve been having so much fun making them and putting them in my new pantry that my brother in law just built for me. I live in California and believe me the seasoning packets are so expensive out here, and I hate spending over a dollar a packet, because I remember when they were only around 25 cents s packet. I use a lot of taco seasoning, and onion soup mix, and cream of chicken soup, so thank you so much. I plan to make the meatloaf seasoning, too. I’m so glad I found your channel, Miss Lori. You bless my soul!
That's great you use a lot of parsley. I'll never forget how "The Juiceman" Jay Kordich used to say that parsley was his favorite ingredient because it is so full of minerals! Regarding the onion powder and garlic powder, I do love those BUT I live in a humid part of the country in Central Texas and both of those always get too easily rock hard even in airtight jars, so I have begun to use garlic and onion granules in lieu of the powder and it's worked really well. I am a big believer in using organic spices whenever possible because they are not irradiated and are just more wholesome. I find that they are not so expensive when you -- if you can -- buy them in bulk. Once in a while that can be hard to find or do, so I always go for non-GMO whenever possible as well.
Fantastic.. I can't wait for you to show us more. After raising 3 boys who loved to eat, I can tell you those little seasoning packets, especially the taco and ranch are very expensive. Thank you so very much for all you share with all of us. Where were you when I was a young mother... of course computers were still a new concept back then....lol. It's just like learning how to make my own stock or finding the "Better-than-Bouillon", that alone has saved me a ton on not having to buy all those containers of Swanson broth or stock anymore. I have been showing my daughter-in-law's and granddaughters all I am learning in hopes of helping them save for better things.
Thank you for the great recipes, Lori! Can't wait to make them all, and put them to good use. My daughter uses so many of the packaged mixes, so she'll love this money-saving and healthier way. She has a birthday at the end of this month (#32), so I think these would make some wonderful gifts for her... thank you!! 🥰 I really love and enjoy watching you make things in your beautiful, charming, and functional kitchen. You have the most calming and pleasant voice, and a wonderful way of cooking and baking. God's blessings to you, Danny...😉 (the Mountain Man!), and your whole family! 💞👏👍🧂💖
I make my own seasoning mixes also. They are so much better and you know all of the ingredients. I order one to two pound bulk packages of most of my seasonings like cumin, coriander, onion and garlic powder, pepper etc. And they are all organic brands. The herbs from my herb garden is also used in my own seasonings. I make enough to give some to my Son and his wife. I enjoy making them. I love your videos and how down to earth you are. I spend almost the whole day watching your videos. I am retired so I have the extra time. 😊☕
Thank you , Mrs lori. I wrote them down today , ive made the taco mix now 4x and triple it each time , also the onion mix and fiesta mix. Saves so much money these days plus we know whats in our food . God bless you & mr. Danny Mrs josette Montgomery County, Texas 🙏 I got your recipe book 📖 But love listening to you ❤❤❤
I hope you will show more homemade seasoning mixes. Did you make/dry your own onion flakes? I am a widow and so much of my food goes to waste because I can't use it up fast enough, and I don't like going to the grocery store every few days. I was wondering if I buy the parsley and onions if I could dehydrate and make my own? My only problem is I have no place to put the jars, have no pantry or cool dry place. So hot out here in the desert that can't put them in the laundry room. Oh how I wish I lived where you are!!!! So beautiful and yet so great for growing and preparing your own food! You are so blessed!!
Thank you , Mrs .Lori , I knew I watched this very informative content and my husband Doug wants tacos for dinner , so I have been saving my jam jars , every jar i can for all your mixes , Especially the cost is CRAZY , EVEN ALDIS which use to be like 25 cents are now 89cents , but my husband doesnt like that kind anyways , Ive used your taco seasoning last time ,but forgot to write it down , as Ive been keeping journals of all recipes , addresses , and great information we might need one day , and one day we might not be able able to afford these phone services or internet service , or ????? We turned our cable off almost 8 years ago , as it was almost $200 a month , we tried the fire stick from amazon our Son got us , but we rarly ever watch Tv . Except maybe older movies , especially I love the Waltons * I have the whole series on VHS of little house on the prarie ... Old westerns .... God bless you , this would make a great gift for the holidays , with prices its getting hard to even buy things , and when I do go , Everyone in our area says the same , HOLY MOLY WHO ARE WE SUPPOSE TO SURVIVE THIS !!! God bless you & Mr. Brown Mrs josette Tharp Montgomery County, Texas 🙏🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️♥️♥️
I swear to you I was just looking for little jars. I bought a can of safrin. I call it a lifetime supply considering I'm an old lady. Hahaha.I need a small container to keep it in as you only use a few threads at a time. I was looking for 2 oz size but was wanting a package that had a variety of jar sizes. I love this kind of video. Looking forward to the next one you do on mixes. I have a good supply of taco seasoning all ready made but I need to do the french onion soup one I use that stuff all the time in Mississippi Roast. Love that stuff. Woo hoo. Good stuff and so economical. Well Done Mrs. Lorie.
Because of the unseasonable weather we have had there are wild green onions all over the yard! Thought I might go snip them off and dry them. Could make a hack of a chive! Ha! ha! They will be gone tomorrow! Down in the teens! Enjoyed the show! Love trying to get away from chemicals we can’t pronounce.
Hi Lori ! I agree with you ...there are so many Spices and Seasoning mixes that have so many preservatives in them that you cannot even pronounce . If you cannot pronounce them or don't know what they are , I would say they are unhealthy for you . You can also mix dried herbs from you Garden and then go to places like Dollar Tree, Big Lots and Ollies and buy spices cheap. I bought some the other day that all they have in it is 2 ingredients , dried onion flakes , dill etc . I LOVE that Onion Soup Mix you made . And, i do have many Mason Jars ,even the tiny ones you showed . Hope you are doing well and the bad weather isn't hitting you in your area. Its real windy here in southeastern Ohio and we are getting Rain ...but no Snow ( I am tickled pink ! ) ! God Bless you and Mr. Brown . PS That color blouse looks so pretty on you !
Love these mixes. Thanks so much , Ms Lori. Do you have a recipe for a dried vegetable soup mix, sort of like the Knorr mix? Thanks for sharing all of these recipes!
Ms.Lori, just wanted to let you know how much I love your channel and your videos!!! I look forward to seeing what you are doing each visit!!! I really miss the old and best ways. Thank God for you!! You and Mr.Brown are the best!!! God bless you both!! MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT ALWAYS!!! ❤🕊❤
Thank you for these mixes. Looking forward to next video. I'll be making these for my grandchildren also as well as our house. God bless you & thanks so much from grandma Katie in Oregon
I got through a lot of taco seasoning and onion soup mix!!!! These are in my NEAR future! Thank you Miss Lori for taking the time to do these videos! Be Blessed
I like your comment about tasting the food and correcting the seasoning. In every culture in the world there is a saying that translates roughly to - it's a lousy cook that won't taste her own cooking! So very very true. And taste often!
Ms Lori I will definitely be saving this video. There are a few spices I don't have but I will be getting them and making these mixes. Thank you. Be safe and well. Lord bless.
Have watched this 2 times now. Your taco seasoning is my go-to now, and I have just made another double batch. I had run out and just grabbed an envelope when I was rushing through the grocery store for supper in a hurry. Oh my, was that ever disappointing! What used to taste good to us was just salt and color...non of the flavor we have gotten used to with your seasoning recipe. Had no idea there was that big a difference. If I haven't said it before, THANK YOU for sharing these time-saving, delicious recipes and all the tips you teach us!
When I was a kid in the early 80s my mom would get Winn-Dixie brand seasoning and gravy packets on sale 10 for a dollar. That was cheaper and easier than buying all the spices to make it yourself especially when you work full-time and have six kids. Also all they had back then was bullion cubes and you had to crush them into a powder. Now you can easily buy chicken and beef base powders and find spices on sale pretty inexpensively so I make up my own seasoning and gravy mixes. Thanks for your wonderful recipes.
I appreciate you for teaching or reminding us that we can do what you do. You are such a wonderful teacher. Thank you for making seasoning simple. May God Bless You and Mr. Brown.
@@WhippoorwillHoller i have a recipe book of seasoning...I would love to share...Im a 65yr old Texas Boy...They are so so good...If you could use them...let me know..Love you both on the channel
Love your taco seasoning recipe! The french onion soup mix looks wonderful too! Never heard of fiesta mix, but I am happy to find out about it now! Thank you.🥰

Lori, Walmart carries the mini Ball mason jars. They come in a box of 4 for around $5.00. Thank you for sharing such wonderful recipes! They are much appreciated.
This is great. My husband and I are on restricted sodium diets so all the store bought mixes are off limits for us. I am so glad i can make the taco mix and leave out the salt. This will give us so much variety in dishes now. Thank you
Thank you Mrs. Lori, I've been looking forward to this video! Can't wait to see more of your dry mixes. I'm not a homesteader (not yet anyway!) but I love your videos, I get so much inspiration fro your channel. Thank you and Mr. Brown for sharing so much with us.

Now you can easily buy chicken and beef base powders and find spices on sale pretty inexpensively so I make up my own seasoning and gravy mixes. Thanks for your wonderful recipes.
Lori I like all the mixes you did. They looked really good. I hope you enjoy your day. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

This is great. My husband and I are on restricted sodium diets so all the store bought mixes are off limits for us. I am so glad i can make the taco mix and leave out the salt. This will give us so much variety in dishes now. Thank you
