This whole time I've been putting the pant gaiter between my sock and boot and it would always cause pain a couple hours into the snowboarding session. Now I've found the solution!
I've been making the exact same mistake since I started 10 years ago! There was always some painful pressure point. I'm glad I thought of searching for this!
Damn I thought this is exactly the reason why both pants and boots have 2 layers - so that the internal layer of the pants goes into the "internal boot", It's not? Both pant layers should be on top of the boot?
Ditto. Love the vids. Counting on them keeping me pumped and in the zone during the off season. Just got my season pass for next season. Can Not Wait! Thanks again, the vids have helped alot!
We got our first lot of good snow fall down here in Australia so looks like a early start to the season whoooop hooooo can’t wait only for the 7.5 hour drive to get there let us know when you guys are come down I’ll try and meet up
I have a good tip for that can help traditional laces stay tight for longer before working loose. On the upper part of the boot where Kevin wrapped around the hooks from the outside going in, instead, on each hook try coming inside to out and all the way around the outside. Simple tip but I found it really worked.Your laces should now last until lunch, no problem!
I've been snowboarding for 6hrs now :D In 3 sets. Today I had a lot of issues with footpain. I noticed that for me setting high back as vertical as possible helped a lot. As I'm just starting out I've used rental gears and with that board there was only three settings.
yeah or you have to bend your legs. also some boot manufacturers have very tilted forward boots like nitro because its for spinning frontside hard easier
Kevin! Can you please please do a video taking about the problems of boots that don’t fit right? Like the camber vs. rocker videos...instead something like “Loose boots” vs “Fit Boots” and talk about how it effects you throughout the day?
Also maybe a boot comparison of like $150 vs $400 snowboarding boots with the different tech they have in heel lift or flex and laces types. I think Boots are often underrated and talked about. You can’t snowboard worth anything if the connection between you and the board is mediocre at most.
I also do the heel tug(?) thingie to allow ankle to sit properly in the ankle cushion area and toe not too forward 👍. Having ankle sit properly will help mitigate heel lift(also depends on liner cushioning too)
Warm boots helps makes easier to get in. Lock the laces in the centre by wrapping them over eachother on the way up will keep them tight all day. Also take liner out at end of day so they are dry in the morning avoids blisters and manky smells
Got a tip when you tighten down the top section on the last top hooks go downwards instead of up these then let you keep your boots tight so then the laces don’t slip when u tighten them
I can say this is probably the only thing I can do perfect out of all the snowboard tips ahahahah xD I do it exactly the same. The liner of my old boots could be taken out easily so sometimes I would wear the liner first, then put my foot inside the boot to make it super easy and snug
I have a wider foot. I recently bought 32s and it's the best fit I've ever had but still have a few issues. I've worn them for only 2 days, the Tips of my toes can go numb and my heel can lift in one foot a bit where it rubs the inside of my Achilles. Any tips of perfecting them? Is it normal while they pack out to have a bit of discomfort, I hear that a lot.
Your shins dont ever hurt when you stuff the inner drawstring in the middle i find that the pressure creates this weird pain in my shin i have not really found a solution
I usually put the leather peice you pull on in the middle and pull the sides of the strings around the sides to the back so theres not a cluster in the front that can be uncomfortable
I am wearing Burton boots with Boa lacing (but not with separate upper and lower alteration) my ankle on my back foot is really really REALLY bruised by the lacing pulling across it on the boot and / or my bindings pushing on my ankle. It gets so painful I can't ride. Can I put in some padding over my ankle as I can't loosen the boot just in my ankle area?? The boots were the top price range and I only bought them last year so trying to avoid buying a new pair!!
What about feet going numb??? Is that a fit issue. My front foot has a tendency to go completely numb. Most of the time when I unstrap my board and sit down for a few minutes and goes away sometimes I have to unlace my boots and relace it after
Sounds like the lower zone laces are too tight, I would keep those just a little more loose and the upper more tight. It also could be that you're tightening your bindings too tight, I used to have this problem and now I ease up on my bindings 1-2 clicks and that helps too.
Most likely too tight or fit issue. For fitting, when renting/buying boots, always try different brands, as each brand have different feel n cutting for their liners
How do you find the 32 Lashed? Have found a few reviews online, but would love to hear your thoughts and how you feel about it compared to other boots. :)
Quick question: How often do you tighten your snowboard boots? I have a pair of burton boots with speedzone straps and I find they loosen after a 4 or 5 runs. I was wondering if that was normal? I was thinking of maybe using velcro to keep it nice and tight around my calfs. Do you have any suggestions?
LOVE all your vids.. (well for beginners so far lol) So, i went to 2 differ places to be fitted. one had me at a 11, and the other had me at 10. and the one that had me at 11. the same boot at the other place was a 10. Burton Boas. anyway. i know they are supposed to be very tight... but my toes on the 10 seem to be VERY tight... but no not curled. it is uncomfortable. Do i just have to 'suck it up' and ride that way till they pack out? at 50... i don't like not being comfortable... thanks
Nah, don't ever get a boot that causes pain. I would say slight discomfort maybe, but definitely not any pain. Wearing boots that are too tight can give you nerve damage in your toes. This happened to me in basic when they fit me with a boot too small. It took weeks for my toes to feel normal again. I feel shop employees over exaggerate how tight boots need to be. They tried to fit me in a size smaller than what I wear now and I'm glad I refused. The size I wear now is snug, but comfortable and I don't have issues with my heel coming up during carving.
Sometimes I feel like my heels keep having a slight lift even though I've tightened my boot to the point where it gets sore. The boot is definitely my size because I graze the front of the boot with my toe.. I just don't know why my heels still lift with it being tight. :(
Multispek mutvimanex : some people love the lace full dynamic adjustment for tightness that single Boa dont allow and probably limited double Boa to their liking.
TLS is a nightmare of bullshit to me. they fucking fall off when youre riding and tow under your board. also you cant control how much you tighten them, its just extremely tight or nothing. Thirtytwo boots are the best to me, they are snug where they need and they dont strangle you
Your pants gater are made to go in the shell and there outside goes over the shell. It keeps the snow out and keeps your pants from dragging while walking. I like your videos but this is your second time you told beginning riders how to do this WRONG
im on my 4th hour learning experience, this is what I did. well, i hike on snow/powder with gaters. by instinct, i did it this way. thanks for pointing this out.
Nah bud, you’re wrong. That creates pressure points and an access for snow to get in. Most cuffs have a hook on them to hook to your outer laces and if they’re BOA compatible, there is an access port in your inner liner to tighten or loosen without rolling your pant leg up.
Last time somebody else taught me how to wear shoes was 3 years old by my mom. Now I am 27 and still need to watch this video.
Ni how
hahahaha same exact thing over here

Same me too it would start to hurt and I wonder why but now I know wow

I just got those same socks about a week ago
Good choice TJ!
That keeping the tongue level tip has made such a difference for me!
Difference in what?
Thanks I found this very helpful I got my snowboard for Christmas I’m going outside to shred it now lol!!
Ditto. Love the vids. Counting on them keeping me pumped and in the zone during the off season. Just got my season pass for next season. Can Not Wait! Thanks again, the vids have helped alot!
nice and neat
*stuffs the remaining cord in*
lol
Haha
I go all the way around the boot on the last lace, then tie :)
Very nice step by step walk through.
Thank you!

SnowboardProCamp No problem, Bud. I enjoy your channel so it would be cool if I can help you and your viewers out with something 👊🏻

Great tips Kevin!👍
Nice! Handy video Kevin.
Nice ! Kevin has the Westmark! Got the Camber version in March. Hope you like it bro!
The double boa boots are why I'm here. How tight is too tight?
I love all your vids watched all of them
Thanks!

Any recommendations of picking snowboard boots for guys with wide toe cap? I feel bit narrow most of boots I tried.

Michael Nevins . I have the same issue
It may be a fit issue, but try keeping the laces over your toes a little looser. This should relieve some pressure

Jake McCoy I will defenalty will try that next season. I hate calling it a day because of my feet
Most likely too tight or fit issue.
For fitting, when renting/buying boots, always try different brands, as each brand have different feel n cutting for their liners
personally, I like the hockey way of lacing up boots. the laces stay tight all day. there's vids on that
Carlos Gonzalez what’s the hockey way was lacing up your boots?
Hi kevin! I see that you ride a size us 10, do you always ride a Wide board :) ?
What do you do when the draw string thing doesnt release well. Onr boots working fine, other one is really tough.
How do you find the 32 Lashed? Have found a few reviews online, but would love to hear your thoughts and how you feel about it compared to other boots. :)
theyre fricking awsome. beat nitro in the slope
top grazie fra

I re-tighten my boots about 2x a day.
i tighten every run
Chur Kev, come back to NZ
sometimes the sides of my feet get really sore, is that a too tight or too loose issue?

Scott Coffman they will be tight and uncomfortable but you don’t want your heel coming up when you turn so you will probably have to suck it up

Can you wear normal Boots that you wear out
Here in Switzerland it's fkn summer 😄. Will take a while till I put my boots back on. Sadly😓
What made you switch from BOA back to laces?
My Salomon boots with the Boas gave me sore feet. I find I can easily get these laces tight enough. With these boots all my foot pain has gone away!
I thought that Pant gater is to be put in your boots and the Pants then over the boots! Guess i was wrong.
Sometimes I feel like my heels keep having a slight lift even though I've tightened my boot to the point where it gets sore. The boot is definitely my size because I graze the front of the boot with my toe.. I just don't know why my heels still lift with it being tight. :(
try a different brand
I thought the inside part of the trousers goes in the boot not out?
@snowboardprocamp nice, 👏, can you do a boa version plz :p
Awsome socks T.J.! Wait...... what? 🤔
Haha crazy coincidence! Good taste in socks!
Shouldn't your ankles be moving tho to carve in turns
Lmao just bought the same boots today😂
Why laces when boa tho ?
Multispek mutvimanex : some people love the lace full dynamic adjustment for tightness that single Boa dont allow and probably limited double Boa to their liking.
ejump0 meh if u try enough u should do well with double boa ? Also it saves so much time
My main thing with laces is the comfort.
SnowboardProCamp what u think about boa
my pants don't go over my shoes
Am I the only person that tucks my pants into my boots?
Nope haha I didn't know about going over until a friend showed me this season. It made a big difference in my boot feel though!
TLS is a nightmare of bullshit to me. they fucking fall off when youre riding and tow under your board. also you cant control how much you tighten them, its just extremely tight or nothing. Thirtytwo boots are the best to me, they are snug where they need and they dont strangle you
Why are you wearing two hats? it looks like it is way above freezing ffs.
One is a balaclava, and it’s cold in the mountains.
Your pants gater are made to go in the shell and there outside goes over the shell. It keeps the snow out and keeps your pants from dragging while walking. I like your videos but this is your second time you told beginning riders how to do this WRONG
hmmm, agree to disagree.
The gater goes over so powder and snow doesn’t go anywhere near the top of your boots
im on my 4th hour learning experience, this is what I did. well, i hike on snow/powder with gaters. by instinct, i did it this way. thanks for pointing this out.
