You have taught me more than I've learned in the last 10 years about boot sizing. Now it all makes sense. Now I know my boot size. Now I know what boots and bindings to buy. Now I can let it rip. Thank You
Thank you so much dude, you have helped me so much getting into a pair of boots that actually fit correctly and are comfortable. I understand why so many people struggle accepting that their mondo size is actually their correct boot size. I now have a pair of boots that are snug, super responsive, and have zero heel lift and I do not have to tie my laces tightly. I think most peoples issue is that they are swimming in their boots and have to crank their laces/boa to an extreme degree which causes discomfort and will never eliminate heel life no matter how much they tighten. I urge anyone watching this video to trust the process and have faith that the boots that are a little uncomfortable in the store and on the first few wears will pack out and form around the foot over time.
I bought some used (like 3 times) boots that are quite uncomfortable for me. What do you think is an acceptable amount of time to determine if they fit incorrectly?
Been riding my entire life at a high level. Spent many seasons in boots that were a size or 1/2 size smaller than my shoe size and I dealt with the pain. I finally bumped up to a boot where my toes are just touching the end of the boot, not crushed and it’s been a massive difference. No pain and I feel like I can press into my feet better.
Hi, just touching the end is far too large. Snowboard boots are designed to fit with both toes and heels firmly pressed into the compliant liner. This should not be uncomfortable at all, however. The most common reason for what you are describing is a wide foot that is not in a wide boot. Please post all four of your barefoot measurements as described here ruclips.net/video/TkSJJ6_1KYc/видео.html
Hi Randy, thank you very much for this video, now I'm on my 7th pair of shoes and I never heard your tips from seller, it opened my eyes and now my wife will have 1st in her life properly fitted shoes! ;)
Im a 10.5 shoe. Tried 10.5 boots for 2 days and couldnt feel my big toe . Most pain ever. Definitely going a half size up and not down. Foot measures almost 11 inches.
Hi, there is going to be an error in your measurements. 11 inches does not result in US shoe size of 10 1/2. Please provide all four of your barefoot measurements as width is every bit as important as length. STOKED!
I felt the same, I use 9.5 shoes. I tried 9.5 boots and my toes were literally bent, just trying the boots was painful. So I tried size 10 boots and it felt snug enough, I could flex my knees and my heels didn't move up and I could also feel the front of the boot w/ my toes.
I just bought snowboard boots after taking a 9 year hiatus from snowboarding . When I tried on 11s in the store my toes touched, so I went online and ordered 11.5s since they didn’t have them….after watching this video, I can see how and why they’re WAAAYYYY too big. My foot is SWIMMING in the boot and my toe is still faintly touching, about as much as it did in the 11…after doing that tapping my heel part, tightening, then bending the knee, the 11.5 is HUGE. Not sure why before I thought my toes weren’t supposed to touch, or how I functioned before with them being roomy, but this just opened my eyes.
Not so sure about this. Each boot is constructed differently. I wear a 10 shoe size. I’ve had 9.5 Burton Rulers from years past that had me scrunching my toes at the end of the boot to the point where I was in pain by mid day. I’ve had a similar pair of Burtons 9.5 that cut off the circulation of my toes in my right boot. (Should have bought my shoe size) Point being, I’d suggest demoing boots if you can if they still do demo days. I’ve found that you won’t understand how boots will truly work for you until you’ve rode a full day in them. My .02. Feel free to crap on it if you like. :-)
Hi Rob, Comparing to shoe size is never the way to go. Always start with your 4 barefoot measurements. That allows you to match both length and width which is essential. Sadly, demo for boots is not valuable because heat fit is required to get it right and this can not be done in a demo environment. STOKED!
@@RoughRaiders13 Hi, by definition this can never be the case. That doesn't mean that you cannot wear a size 10 in both products, but it will never be the correct fit for one of the two products. Please post up all four of your barefoot measurements. We will be happy to get you sorted out. STOKED! ruclips.net/video/TkSJJ6_1KYc/видео.html
The first pair of boots I ever got the fitter told me to go 1 size down. I was in excruciating pain and made a hole in the liner after 3 days.i had a compression injury and both my big toenails fell off. Since I've had boots at my size and always felt too tight until in a binding and angled over, then just nice and snug. In the too-small boots I had to scrunch my toes so as not to be in pain. Maybe my regular shoes are all too small or something 😃 I'm a US 10.5 and the boots that caused so much pain were 9.5s (thirty two).
Hi Paul, Please post all four of your barefoot measurements. ruclips.net/video/q1pNBJ5pXBU/видео.html . By definition the two can never be the same. Width is the most common reason for this. STOKED!
@@wiredsport1 28.3 cm left and 28cm right. So 10.5. and I wear 10.5 shoes - almost always Vans. Weird. Guess I'm the exception. Never have discomfort in my shoes. I do have very skinny feet and large big toes.
I also had barefoot measurements done at the boot fitters and it came out 10.5 so it all makes sense. Just I'm wearing a 10.5 shoe when others would be wearing an 11.5?
That was a more recent boot fitting that came up 10.5. my second boots were also 10.5s but way too wide - I think I over compensated after the tor crushers. Those were adidas and the height and width of the toebox were way bigger than 32s. Since then I've had Burton and Salomon in 10.5s and they are snuggly and perfect.
there is slight movement in my right foot and minor geel lift but I can't get two different sizes 😃 vans online size guide picks a 10.5 for my size feet too. The 9.5 was very definitely a crush, not movement. Those boots were also heat moulded in store and I wore a hole in them in 3 days. By your size guide I am in the correct boot, so it's all good 😃
after 30 years riding (10 days avg a year) im set for 50 days this season, ive just had my eyes opened, thank you. 20 years off pain riding uk 11 then getting measured for running shoes in size 10.5, i moved to 10.5 in snowboard boots, ive had to buy online as no shops sell boots in Ireland. Knowing by current boots are starting to give heal lift, pain and need overtighted, i will need new ones to last this season. spoke to 2 shops in the Uk and they said i needed to size up! unreal, i feel i need to name and same these places for giving bad advice. tried on my friends uk9 boots and they fitted tight and more snug and more comfortable!! WTF! after using your process ive just ordered size uk9, 4 sizes smaller than i was wearing and told was my size by snowboard shops in uk. looking forward to painfree riding and ultimate control.. thank you, thankyou thank you.
I am SO glad I found your vid! I really had no idea how to buy a boot - the guy who helped me get m initial gear would have been accurate if I had stayed closer to his recs (I overcompensated for my heel bone issues). I can't wait to watch your other boot fit vids! Thank you for taking the time to make the entire series!
Hi, I will be happy to help. Yes 27 cm is Mondopoint 270 or size 9 US in snowboard boots. Please keep in mind, however, that you also need to be sure that you are matching your width measurements. A boot which is too narrow, will always feel too short due to the arc shape of the toe box. Please post all four of your barefoot measurements. STOKED!
This video saved my snowboarding season (and possibly snowboarding as a hobby) I recently got into snowboarding again after about 13 years (Im 30 now). I got a whole new setup obviously and the guy at my local shop sized my boot as a size 10 (Im a 9.5 mens). The first time I went up, I felt a little awkward on my feet, but I thought I'm obviously going to be rusty, not having snowboarded in over a decade. The next 4 times I went up, I was CONSTANTLY feeling more progressively awkward on my board, catching edges randomly, shit ton of heel lift and foot pain and my legs hurt so much. I was NOT HAVING FUN. I knew something was wrong with my gear. My feet were swimming around my boots and had almost an inch of heel rise I found this video, measured my feet with the mondo sizing and i sized my boots DOWN to a 9.0 in mens and I went up snowboarding again today... I immediately had SO MUCH CONTROL, No foot pain, very responsive in my turns, walking around in my boots doesn't drain my energy. I was even able to get back into the terrain park and hit some jumps and easy boxes and had SO MUCH FUN. Snowboarding can absolutely SUCK if your gear isnt right. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS INFORMATION MAN. You saved snowboarding for me.
My feet measures 9.75 inches and I wear internet shoe size 9. According to the website it is telling me to wear snowboard boot size 6… this seems extremely small.
Hi, I will be happy to help. 9.75 inches is Mondopoint 250 or size 7 US in snowboard boots. Please keep in mind that we will also need both of your barefoot width measurements to get this right for you. Width is every bit as important as length when it comes to snowboard boot sizing. STOKED!
This video was just amazingly helpful dude. I am getting back into the sport after 5 years off now that i live in a country with incredible snow compared to my home country of Australia. However here in Japan, right at the start of the season, its almost impossible to find large sized boots to try on, so i am taking the gamble of buying what i need from amazon and utilizing the returns policy if needed. This has been such a great help.
Aight dude - i am trusting your video. Just got a pair of Salomon Echo's, i measure 277mm and ordered a size 28cm from Salo; their own size chart said go to 28.5 if you are 28cm, but i decided to trust you over them (their size chart also said measure with socks and says to order a UK 10, when they sell their boots in CM sizing anyway??), especially seeing you on a heap of forums as well giving great advice. I will heat fit them, and i hope they work out for me!
Well i got them, they are TIGHT, but after heat molding them i think we will be ok. Bit tight across the big toe on both sides, but otherwise they feel ok, certainly the first few days on the mountain will be a little rough, but hoping they pack out and flex out a little and then i should be fine. Now that i live so close to the slopes that day trips are super possible i hope a bit of tightness at first will lead to a longer lasting boot.
@@TheRealUnconnectedhow have you been getting on with the new boots? Do you have a wide or slightly wider foot? If so you might need a boot with a larger toe box area, the DC boots tend to have this
@@derektrott1073 Had about five days on mountain with them so far, so far they feel good, much better than day one. Big toe is feeling better now as the liner has packed down in the toe box, while my toe touches there is no pressure. Overall i am very satisfied with them, especially the build quality, they really seem like they will last a good few seasons of heavy use.
very very good and informative video. I have to get new boots and since it's been a few days since my last purchase I wanted to see what's currently state of the art. found this video and just have to leave a big thank you here. keep shredding dudes.
I really can't believe this fully. My foot measures an exact 10.5 inches on the brannock and with this video I'd have to get a 8.5-9 snowboard boot. I tried a size 10.5 Van's Standard Pro and my toes were squeshed hard.
10.5 inches is the smallest measurement in the range for Mondopoint 270 or size 9 US in snowboard boots. It is 1 mm above size 8.5. A few notes though. A Brannock device does not measure inches. Also, we would need all four of your barefoot measurements as width is the most common issue which with what you are describing. Thanks!
@@ignacios1562 because you do need a half size bigger boots, end off. Don't listen to this guy unless you want to suffer pain and hate snowboarding forever
@ignacios1562 that's the whole point. I myself couldn't find any comfort with the same size boots as I would have my street shoe size and always was in pain and discomfort. Since I started going half or even a size up there is no more pain in my toes and they don't freeze easily as have enough space for movement inside of the boot.
Hi there i have a dilema because size of foot is 267mm and it show me on snowboard boot sizer that I need size US 9 in my case EU size 41 which at the boot chart is 265mm, my question is should I buy 270mm mondo or 265mm? I am buying vans invado og . Obviously until now I measured wrong and was buying wrong size of boots. Thanks for the help
Hi, 267 mm is defintely Mondo 270. Be sure to measure your width as well. Width is equally as important as length. Go by the Mondo size rather than the EU size. STOKED!
@@wiredsport1 thanks for help , yes I already watched your videos and measured width and I don't need W boots I compared it with your charts for that. Again thanks for quick response. 🤟
I literally bought 2 new pairs and my second 1 that I thought was my true size is actually .5 MP bigger than I should be wearing. The guy at the shop said that this model fits half a size down but it seems to be already packing out
Question! My right foot is a full centimeter larger than my left foot. My right foot comes in at 276mm and my left foot comes in at 266mm. What size should I be looking at here?
Hi, you do have a large discrepancy between your R/L foot sizes, however, you will still need to go with the size 10 and sizing for the larger foot. You're only other option would be to order two sizes of boot in which case you would order size 9 and 10. STOKED!
DAmn i wish i had seen this video before buying my boots. i have definitely been overcompensating my too-large boots by overtightening, and it ends up cutting circulation and hurting my feet. Great info!
Dude this best video ever I wish found this before bought my second pair of Burton boots cause I was sized wrong on the first pair now I’m going see if I got the right size the second time now. wow I’m subscribing right now to you channel and I’m sharing this channel with everyone I know that snowboarders , and new boarders immediately
Hello! This is an extremely valuable video. my feet measure 264mm and 265mm at D width. literally just on the cusp. Am i better off going for 9US(27) or 8.5US (26.5)?
I've got a question / problem. I just started riding. I've never been on a snowboard/ski before. The learning stopped for me, at the point were I was tring to ride on the frontedge (goofy). My right foot (front) was cramping on the sole within a few seconds. I got better when I removed all my weight from that foot. The bindings, were as tight as possible. I usally got 46eu, so I also borrowed 46eu boots. Because of the problem. I borrowed an other slightly smaller pair. Same problem - but a few seconds later. I also asked my teacher, if there should be "air pockets" between my feet and the boots.... So I assume I had 2 sizes too big, arcoding to your video. Since I want to buy my own board, boots and bindings I need your help. I was also considering those quick release ones without straps. But I guess, the problem is just the boot? I quickly messured my feet - 285mm. But I will do that again, more carrefully. And also the width. Do you thing it was just the boot? Any idea how to fix that? Which boots would you recommend? (I have 280mm / 105mm width and 282mm / 102mm width (second time my messurement was 2mm off)) Thank you
Yes they do! At least Vans women’s snowboard boots. Learned the hard way last season when I bought boots that were too small based on this advice. I think the mondo sizing may be correct though. My new boots are a half size up compared to my normal shoe size but the mondo size matches this chart.
Once I get my bunion & hammer toe surgery,.. I can finally focus on getting a PROPER fit. ATM,.. my foot will not allow for going with the proper size without excruciating pain making riding a proper fit impossible. I’ve tried, had work done on the boots n liners without success. Fortunately, I am able to ride by wearing boots that are still a FULL size smaller than what I was wearing when I first started riding. (…a decision Which I am CERTAIN contributed to my current lead foot deformity.) That said,.. once I do fix my foot issue? I will likely be able to downsize another .5 or even 1 more full size. The plan is to be Going in for this after the end of this (Disappointing) season. Wired has been helping riders providing awesome, accurate sizing advice for years. Glad I found this video to add to my library of his information.
Hey man, first off appreciate the info and the fact that you're still replying to comments. I recently tried the Swathe and the Imperial burtons. I tried the 10.5 because I had been riding in old DC 10.5s. My foot measures 26.5 cms and according to your calculations I should get an 8.5. If my toe was already touching in the 10.5 wouldnt that make the 8.5 way too small?
Got it. 10.5 cm is an EE with at 265 mm (Mondo 265 or size 8.5 US in snowboard boots). This requires a very specific Wide boot. I would strongly suggest either the Burton Ruler Wide or Burton ION Wide size 8 1/2.
@@wiredsport1 Hey man, so I measured again and the width is actually 10cms not 10.5 so I guess I don't need Wide boots? I tried the Imperials i went down to a size 9 and they felt really snug I think 8.5 might be a bit too small
You do require a specific wide boot. Your foot is Mondopoint 265 or size 8 1/2 US in snowboard boots. You are an E width. I would strongly suggest the Solomon dialogue wide size 8.5. STOKED!
I've been riding around in an 11 K2 boot for a couple of years. Cranking the boa at the top and releasing at the bottom. Had them actually modified to try and fix the issue. Final straw on my last trip, had to abort a heli trip which is on my bucket list because my feet were literally killing me, felt like torture by the bottom of a run. Thanks so much, now I've got my head around it I will have no problem accepting a size 10 boot, fingers crossed the torture is over.
So i have been riding a 41.5 burton ruler step on boot which gave issues as it seems it is way to big. Trying to get correct sizing now, have a 40.5 which is 25.5 mondo Step On Photon - Wide boot that feels plenty tight but i can still force my heel to move. Did the measurement instruction from the video and came down to; Left 24,7cm Right 24,8 cm Width on both 9 cm Despite not recommending the photon step on boot would you still recommend mondo 25? In a wide? Thanks so much for your response.
Hi, I will be happy to help. Your measurements are for Mondopoint 250 which is size 7 US in snowboard boots. Please note that 9 cm at 250 does not require a wide boot. STOKED!
Great video, I bought a board second hand and got bindings and boots with it for free, they where the same size is my shoes so I thought it would fit. I just went on a trip of 4 days in somewhat of a harder area, mostly red and black slopes. On blue slopes it was al fine, but on the steeper ones I just could not get any movement going quick and my heel would almost pop out the shoe it would feel like. I tried working on my technique, until realising wearing 3 pairs of sock because they are too big is just crazy. This video helped me try and find the right size.
Fantastic video and sizing tool. Thank you. I recently got measured as follows: Left 31cm long x 11.4cm wide Right 31.2cm long x 11cm wide. Trialled burton photon Step ons, in a Mondo32, but was dissuaded to try the Mondo31 - which I think in a wide model would be correct after moulding ; would you agree? I rented / tested the Burton Photon in a mondo 32 for two days, and whilst it felt like my toes were touching the end, there was so much vertical play in the toe box, even with two thin sets of insoles. I note your comment in regards to gaining up to 1cm of additional room after moulding and breaking in, which is why I think the mondo 31 (in a wide) would be the route to go?? My right foot is slightly larger at 31.2cm, so not sure if I would need to size up ? I have for years struggled with toe overhang (current boots are a mondo 33). Sizing down correctly (potentially by two sizes) would be a game changer. Thanks in advance for any additional validation you could add!!
Great explanations thanks a lot ! I’m planning on buying the Burton Photon Step On, and here are my measurements: Left: 274mm, 99mm width Right 273mm, 98mm width I ordered size 9, 9.5 and 10. According to you explanations, the 9.5 would be the right fit. My question is for a new pair, a little bit of toe curling is acceptable or not ? Thanks
Hi, You are Mondopoint 275 or size 9.5 US in snowboard boots. You are a standard D width. You will not have curling when correctly fit but you will have firm pressure into the compliant materials of the liner. STOKED!
Great video. Wish I had of found this sooner! I had 32 TM2 in a US 12. They ended up rubbing so bad. I now have the US 10.5 and 10. The 10 my left toe feels really quite tight on the end but not sure how tight they should be and don’t want to make the same expensive mistake as last time. Are you able to advise which should be best please? Using your other video my sizes are Left 28.2. Width 94mm Right 27.9. Width 92mm Thanks again!!
@@wiredsport1 great!! Appreciate the reply. The US 10 just felt like my left big toe was quite tight. The US 10.5 I can just tickle my big toe then when I bend knees it clears it. Is that’s normally what you look for? I really don’t want to make the same mistake again!!
What happens when both feet are different sized. Should we be going with the larger size? It's not a huge difference but one side is Mondo 225 and the other is 228.
Hi, yes, please watch ruclips.net/video/TkSJJ6_1KYc/видео.html as well. You should always go with the larger size. Large variations between right and left size may require other actions. STOKED!
I wear a size 11.5 sneaker, just got sized today and bought a 10.5. Wish I’d seen this video before the purchase but the salesman knew what’s up thankfully lol
Really good video. Have measured and come up with left 262mm/100mm, right 260mm/98mm - I think that puts me into wide territory? Would a US8.5 Burton Ruler (wide) be a good match please?
Hi, You are Mondopoint 265 or size 8.5 US in snowboard boots. You are an E width which requires a very specific boot. Only the Salomon Wide boots are designed for E width. Burton Wide models will be too wide. The Dialogue Wide from Salomon is the correct fit. STOKED!
Hi, so I had myself fitted at Evo in Seattle and they recommended I would go with a 10 size. My foot size is about 10.5 or a bit bigger. But when I used the size 10 boot, especially it was for a step-on, I had moments on the snow that my feet would hurt, or have circulation issues or discomfort and pain. The boot is a Burton Step On Ruler and the boa adjusted only on one zone. I got the chance to buy another boot and since I have the step on I will still have to get a step on boot, but I do not know if I should not listen and get a 10.5 size boot this time? One thing to note is that, unlike some friend of mine that have the foot flat so the upper front part of the foot didn't seem to bother them, I have a very high arch which bulges a bit the upper front of my foot. I wonder if this is the reason why a down sized boot to 10 for someone with high arch would cause discomfort and pain. I am honestly considering getting a dual zone boa this time, so maybe i can leave the lower zone a bit loose and the upper zone a bit more tight. When I did a bare foot measurement as suggested here I came to measure about 11.12. This measurement says that I should go with the 10.5 which is very close to my foot size. So I am conflicted and confused and have no idea where and what to try or do. What would you recommend I should try or do?
Slightly off topic. Will a Burton Moto Boa size 10 fit a Union Flite pro binding size large. Also I’m buying online so trying on new boots in Kentucky isn’t an option because there are no ski stores here. I have used Burton rental boots before and I wore 10.5 in rental boots but according to your scale I should be in a 10. Street shoes I wear 11. My mondo is 276
Mondo 276 is the smallest measurement in the range for Mondopoint 280 or size 10 US in snowboard boots. It is 1 mm above size 9.5. We would need all four of your barefoot measurements as width is the most common issue which with what you are describing. Thanks!
Hello, I have had feet going numb and or pins and needle pains in my feet for the last 3 seasons. The last 2 seasons have been particularly bad because my big toe nail turns black and falls off my guess is from toe slam. So I went and found your measurement website and used it and purchased some Lashed Double Boa Bradshaw Snowboard Boots 2023 size 9.5 US. They came in mail and I tried them on couldn't wear for more than 5mins without getting pain or numbness in one of my foot seems they are too small. Any advice? My measurements are as follows: biggest foot is 26.67cm length and 10.16cm Wide.
Hi Nathan, 26.67 cm is Mondopoint 270 or size 9 US in snowboard boots. 10.16 cm is EE width and requires a very speific group of Wide boots. I would strongly suggest the Burton Ruler Wide or Burton ION Wide in size 9. STOKED!
This has been a revelation. Thank you. YEARS ago (about 10) I was sold very expensive Burton boots in a London store (The Snow Boarding Asylum) . 'What's your shoe size?' (UK 8, euro 42), 'Try these on. Bend your knees? Do your heels move?'. I remember asking if they had a measuring scale.... no. I've spent years having to tighten the boots so much to feel any control of the board - so much that my feet would sting and go numb with loss of blood flow within an hour or two. I went to a cheaper store (Decathlon) recently to try on the boots. On Decathlons foot scale I was 41 (40.5) but then I started measuring mondo (257-260) so it looks like I'm 40 using mondo and the online tool you've shared). I bought 4 pairs (!) of boots (40 and 41) and have been wearing them for stints at home. It does seem to be 40... Another tip I hear recently is to NOT wear thick ski socks for fitting. Wear normal and you'll sense what the fit will be like after the boot breaks-in and the liner gets compacted. One thing I can't understand is that the Burton boots in 42 are merry hell to get on and off (even after wearing in and with an incorrect inch to 1.5 inch at the end). Really hard work - so I can see why people end up in too big a size. And yet the decathlon ones go on and off fine, but are much more snug. *One question* should I thermal-form with regular socks or ski socks?
Thank you for this video. Super informative and I've always known this but only in regards to the board not being wide enough . This helped tremendously with finding the right boot . 👌🤘
Thanks so much for the detailed sizing explanation. My normal US shoe size is men's 13. However, taking my barefoot measurements as you describe leads me to a mondo point measurement of 289 which is a men's size 11?? This is hard to accept as my current snowboarding boots are size 13 - Adidas Response boots. I tried a few others in smaller sizes (size 12 - Vans, Burton Swath) but experienced wicked pressure and pain points so I went with the larger size boot. So an 11 is hard to imagine will work, but I am willing to try and do this as you describe. So my barefoot measurements are mondo point 289 with a width of 4.25 inches. I believe I am right on the boundary for wide feet or not. Interested in knowing your opinion on the width. Am I a wide or normal width? Thanks so much and looking forward to your reply.
Hi Mark, 289 mm is indeed Mondopoint 290 or size 11 US in snowboard boots. Your 4.25 inch width is actually at the top of the measurement range for E width which requires a specific Wide boot. I would strongly suggest the Salomon Dialogue Wide or Synapse Wide in Mondo 290 or size 11 US.
What is it with these snowboard boot manufacturers? Are they all 5’5” 140lbs with tiny feet? Why not more options for those that are over 6’ and have bigger wider feet. I don’t consider myself a “big” guy at 195 lbs.
@@markdowdle1 Hi Mark, I would not suggest the Photon's. They are not the correct width for you and they have too many discomfort issues. Salomon is the only brand that produces for E width and only for their Wide models. A lot of product is slow in arriving this year. I would hold tight. STOKED!
My measured shoe size is 9.5. But I generally wear size 10 in both shoe and board boots. I can only wear Birkenstocks in size 9.5, which fit tight initially, before molding to my feet after a few weeks of daily wear. Burton & Northwave boots fit perfect for me at size 10. My toes slightly brush the front of the boot, without curling my toes. I’ve tried a pair of ThirtyTwo boots, and size 10 made my toes curl with a bit of pain. So, boot brand can vary a bit with size and fitment.
Wish I saw this last season. Looks like last year I purchased a half size too big. Size 11 boot by 32 - based on foot length (285) I should be a 10.5. :( Now I have a (wide) board and boot that are too big. Got a black toe, middle of the season, must have broken the boot right out, and also couldn't stop the heel from lifting. Guess I am gonna have to bite the bullet, and get some new gear. At least the jacket, pant, and bindings still fit so that's good. Sucks that I actually bought the boot in store, and I heard exactly what you were mentioning of "comfort" fit. Thanks for the great video. Makes so much sense, NOW.
Wait but I wear a US women's 8 in shoes but the US women's 9 snowboard boots were to tight I couldn't even get my foot in so how does that work? Our we talking like men's size in this video?
Hi I will be happy to help. Please post all four of your barefoot measurements as indicated in the video. That is the only way to accurately get your foot size and the correct boot size. Thanks so much.
I am in the middle of a complete sizing and pain in toes debacle! I starting riding 4 years ago and wore 8.5 boots. That is the same as my shoe size per shop recommendation. I use Burton Step Ons so binding must match. After first season I went down to 8 which meant all new bindings as well. On a recent trip out west I rode for 11 days straight and ended up with toes jamming into the tips of my boots. Pretty painful. I went and had them heat molded and no relief. After getting home I ordered 8.5 and new bindings again but stumbled on this video before trying them on the mountain. After me assuring properly my mondo is 7-7.5 wide. Last night I ordered a pair of 7.5W and am quite hopeful that they will work well. I have always had issues with circulation and I can’t wait to see if that is taken care of as well. Why do shops thill use standard show measuring devices that give incorrect advice?! I called Burton direct to ask about my mondo size and he was nice but clueless. Here’s to hopefully a much better / correct fit!
@@jasonwolfe9714 Hi Jason, I'll be happy to help. You are the smallest measurement in the size range for Mondopoint 275 or size 7 ½ US in snowboard boots. You are an E width, which requires a very specific boot. I would strongly suggest the Solomon Dialogue wide In size 7 1/2. I would not suggest any of Burton's wide boots for your foot, as none of them are designed for E with. I would also not suggest the step on system as fit is absolutely imperative in that system and you cannot achieve an exact fit with your specs. STOKED!
I've recently started snowboarding again after about a 25 year break. The only old piece of equipment I had left was my boots which I'm still riding with. The are old, worn, so soft and soggy that I need to replace them. But the problem is there are not many shops around were I could go and test fit different kinds of boots.. If I want to choose from more that one model I would more or less need to buy online. But how to buy online, getting the right fit without trying them on? Do you have any suggestions??
Hi, I will be happy to help. Please watch the companion video that I have posted here and then post your four barefoot measurements. ruclips.net/video/TkSJJ6_1KYc/видео.html
I have uneven feet (1 foot is about 1 cm longer) It's been a nightmare finding boots, after finding a size 10 i found they destroyed my feet, i heat molded them too and i had an insane cramp in my foot and when i went back i got a size up in a different boot that was wider, they have been much better but then a lace strap broke and ive felt an uneven pressure, it's hard to know what size to go with because in 1 scenario my feet hurt wayyyy too much like unbearable, i think mainly because of width, but the other size i have noticed on very rare occasions my heel slip a bit in 1 boot, although i think the lace strap has a tad to do with this. Should i get a boot in between? how do i find boots that fit wider feet when no brand is advertising that? my local shop has a small selection and ive tried them all in my size (which was not a lot)
@@wiredsport1 Left foot: 27cm length and 10cm wide, my right foot is 28cm length and 10.7cm wide I've tried size 9 boots and they absolutely crush my feet, size 10 seems good to me but depending on brand it is either really nice fit or my foot begins to curl(testing with thickish snowboard socks) I found the sweet spot was 10 and 10.5 which i know is slightly bigger than the measuring guide but it seems like some of the wider fitting boots are far too soft for my taste, i do like a stiffer boot. I recently bought a new pair of Ride Deadbolt at a size 10.5, they seem to be the right stiffness and one foot feels perfect in the boot and the other is just slightly loose but i just kinda crank the boas a bit extra to compensate. I had owned a size 10 earlier this season and after 3 sessions i had to return them the pain i had in my foot was unbearable(and they were heatmolded)
@@Appoh you have a couple of things going on. The first is, as you have mentioned, that you have two different size feet, separated by a full Mondopoint size (1 cm). Your larger foot is size Mondopoint 280 or size 10 US in snowboard boots, your smaller foot is Mondo 270/size 9. The second thing is that both of your feet are E width and actually at the top of the E width category. This requires a very specific wide boot. The Salomon Dialogue Wide is the perfect choice. As only Salomon produces their wide boots in E width. Dealing with two different foot sizes is never easy. If money is no object, buy two sets of boots, one in size 9 and one in size 10. I completely recognize that this is not a solution for most people. But compared to custom boot fitters, Et cetera, the price can easily be the same, and this is a much better solution. Otherwise, you just need to go with the larger of the two boot sizes and realize that the smaller foot is going to be in a boot that is a full size too large. STOKED!
@@wiredsport1 could not find that boot in my area, the deadbolt so far has been alright. Maybe in the future when i get a new pair ill go with the dialogue wide
Very interesting video. I have LEFT 26,9/10,1cm and RIGHT 26,9/10,0cm. I bought a normal Step on a few months ago in M and today 2 pairs of Burton Kendo in US 9.0 and 9.5. I should be normal width, right? I should have remembered this video before buying. Thx in advance.
this breaks my heart. I wear size 10 altras for a comfy fit on my trail runners, bought 10.5 WIDE snowboard boots and definitely think they are too big. I max out the boat tightening it around my feet :(
Hey folks. I dont know what to do. I have EU 45-46 sneaker size and I always rode a EU 45 boot. With this measurement I got a mondopoint of 28. So basically a EU 43 boot?? I just stepped into my actual boots and when im standing straight my toes are touching the front of the boot. when i switch into riding position they do no more. As it should be right? So why is this telling to buy a 43. Need advice
Hi, I will be happy to help. Please post up all four of your barefoot measurements. You can find instructions for this in the extended description below the video. Thank you!
Hi man, thanks for the video. I have been riding for about 20y, I’m 33y, 178cm tall and weighing 90kg. Been riding Nitro shoes in size 46, WHAY to big. My barfeet measures are 25,5cm length and 9,5cm width. I went for Salomon lunch boa 2023/2024, first bought 44,5, to big since my toes could not reach the tip of the boots. Watched your video and change to 43,5. Now it’s tight, can just feel the tip of the booth with my toes. the highest place are over my wrist and a bit on the side. So tight that when I’m wearing it at home, my feet goes kind of numb when tightening. Have not been riding them or heat molded them. My question, are my feet categorized as wide? They have a wider version of this boot. Will this tightness even out after some days in the slopes? Should I go up a size to even the width tightness out? I feel like the length are good. Thank you so much for the video, will share this to my friends.
Hi, Yes you have an E width foot. This requires a specific wide boot. Only Salomon produces Wide boots for E width. The Salomon Dialogue wide in Mondopoint 255 will be an excellent choice for your feet. STOKED!
Hello, I am looking to buy a pair of step on boots that are compatiable with burton stepon bindings. I have measured my feet and these are the values I have gotten. What size would you reccomend for DC/Burton step on shoes. Was looking at the DC Control shoes specifically. Thank you
Hi. First of all thanks for the video. I have a question, I have the MONDO size 271mm. In the shop I have the option of MONDO 27 and MONDO 27.5. What would be my size boot, what to choose? Thanks!
@@dancrainic2480 Hi, your foot is mondopoint 275 or size 9 1/2 US in snowboard boots. 101 millimeters is E width and requires a very specific boot. The Salomon Dialogue Wide in size 9 1/2 will be the perfect choice. Thank you.

I haven’t bought snowboard boots yet but when i get rentals i always size up about 1.5-2 sizes and my toes are touching the end of the boot or even need to be scrunched up. Is this how they should fit or should i try sizing down or up even more?
Now that’s a helpful video. I have received my burton rulers wide in 8.5 My feet are: L: 26,4/ 10,1 R: 26,3 / 9,9 They are very tight at the moment and my toes are crawled. Even when kicking the ankle back tightening the boot, they are still crawled and I can’t wear it longer than 5 minutes. Will a heat mold expand the toe area? When I take out the liner, I have toe overhang, which is good as I saw in your video. When I step in to the boot without the liner I have just a little space all around my foot. I’m an inline skater and there I learned for the first time about a good performance fit. But man, my toes were never that extremely crawled. Many brands claim on their websites that this shouldn’t be the case and that the toes should touch the boot only slightly. I really want a good boot for myself as I started to enjoy snowboarding for the first time. My 32 boots are too big now. I hope that you can help me.
You have to try as many boot brands as possible to see what fits you. There's no magical formula unfortunately since having a boot fit you well implies more than this video suggests, measuring your length. Without trying them, it's a lottery.
Hello, I have a question. I got problems with my old boots because they gotten way to soft and a good amount of heel lift over the last years. I measured my foot and according to your chart i have a MP of 275 and a E width. My last boots were Burton Motos with a MP of 280. I ordered now some Burton Ruler Wide in 275 and they fit pretty good right out of the box, my only points is that my toes are touching the front of the boot, its not painful but there is a good amount of pressure, when i bend my knees forward the pressure is gone but still my toes are touching the front, 0 heel lift at all in this boots. Is the toebox going to widen out after riding or should i consider buying half a size bigger? Thank you for the good video by the way.
Hi, I will be happy to help. 275 mm is Mondopoint 275 or size 9 1/2 US in snowboard boots. I would not suggest Burton boots for an E width. Only Salomon designs their Wide boots for E width. This other video shows how to measure your foot and how your snowboard boot should fit. Thank you. ruclips.net/video/TkSJJ6_1KYc/видео.html
I reallt dont understand about usa measures, i measure my foot on centimeters always, and mi foot meqsure 26,5cm, then y always run on 27cm street shoe. In snowboard i do the same 27cm boot and i think is the correct size, im wrong?? 26,5 is to small reallt compresed foot on the boot.
Either my feet are weird, or I don't get something. Measuring with the A4 paper trick gives me 27.5mm. Normally I wear eu 43 shoe size f(us 10) for street shoes. 2 years ago I bought burton moto boa 10 us and they were too small (I had never so much pain on my feet!). After that I changed them for 10.5 US and this was good choice, as till this day they fit perfectly and I got rid of pain after 1 day. So I had to go half size up. This year I ordered Vans infuse 10 US and again, they are too freaking small with 2 pressure points. And I don't believe they will pack out enough. So today I changed them for 10.5US. So whats the deal with my feet? My street shoes aren't tight on us 10 tho!
Hi Maks, Not weird at all. Let's start with all four of your barefoot measurements as taken in our how to measure video. Width is every bit as important as length. ruclips.net/video/TkSJJ6_1KYc/видео.html. STOKED!
@@wiredsport1 It actually turned out different after following instructions from the other video Right: 27mm, 10.6mm width Left: 26.9mm, 11.3 mm width From looking at a charts it looks like even US 10 should be too big for me, but it really isn't. US 10.5 holds my heel as it should, foot is stable and not wobbling inside. Also gently touching the end of the boots with my toes when leaning forward. On US 10 both burton Moto boa and Vans infuse I had the biggest pressure point on top of my both feets. On the other hand, I tried my friends (very old) US 10.5 shoes (I dont remember the brand tho) and the were also fine for the heelhold and length... Im starting to believe I can't measure my feet properly or my foot grows up inside the shoe 🤣 Or maybe im just dumb and what feels as proper fit for me is actually too big lol...
Btw just read that Burton and Vans indeed run smaller for some people (based on reddit and snowboardingprofiles). Someone who wears eg. 9 or 9.5 Adidas (270 +- mondo) snowboard boots wears 10 or 10.5 Burtons and 10.5 Vans.. What the hell
@@maksymilianwojcik1846 We have found your issue! 27 mm is Mondo 270 or size 9 US in snowboard boots. Your issue is that your foot is EEE width (3 width sizes wider than your current boots). I feel like board companies are adjusting today.. I am a true size 10. I tried on Ride Lasso’s in shop for awhile strapped in to a board. They were very snug!! After 10-15 mins i felt some uncomfortable pressure on a foot despite the great comfort of these boots while strapped in and toes were pretty abut to to box. The is the 10 1/2 were also pretty damn snug with the ever so slightest improvement in comfort. I talked to another guy riding these exact boots and he said they don’t even pack out that much. It is hard to be certain a video like this stands true. Why I say this? I TRIED to size down and it was most uncomfortable painful day snowboarding ever. Now way the size 9’s would ever pack out enough. We will see how much pack out my new 10.5 double BOA Ride boots do rest of this year and next but I never felt a tighter 10.5 snowboard boot in my life.. If I did anything in the future it looks like I’d just go true to size 10, but I am doing everything I can not to avoid toe cramping but foot numbing and loss of blood supply. I think companies are aware today of out packing and going down a size you do at your own risk.. after 3 hours in a size down the other week my feet felt screwed up for days after… not doing down sizing again. Go see, and try on any true to size 2023 2024 boot, your toe will be jammed to the front and you will need to do at least 15-30 days a riding to pack that out just a little bit.

The best sizing video ever ! Loved it. New to boarding . Got my first pair of boots . Thanks a lot for such an informative video . 👍🏾
What do you think is an acceptable amount of time to determine if they fit incorrectly?

this guy has a PhD in snowboard boot sizing. legend
Thank you so much. Most vids on snowboard sizing are very cursory and they all just repeat the same info. You go deep. Very much appreciate that. 👍
(Should have bought my shoe size)
Point being, I’d suggest demoing boots if you can if they still do demo days.
STOKED!

This video saved my snowboarding season (and possibly snowboarding as a hobby)
I recently got into snowboarding again after about 13 years (Im 30 now). My feet were swimming around my boots and had almost an inch of heel rise
I found this video, measured my feet with the mondo sizing and i sized my boots DOWN to a 9.0 in mens and I went up snowboarding again today...

Thanks!
same happened to me....i´m a vans shoe size 10.5 and bought DC boots 10.5 and my toes are hurting from the pressure, wish they were larger

Please let me know both widths as well. Thank you.
Both feet are 97mm wide
Hi, you do have a large discrepancy between your R/L foot sizes, however, you will still need to go with the size 10 and sizing for the larger foot. You're only other option would be to order two sizes of boot in which case you would order size 9 and 10. STOKED!

Incredibly generous information, Randy.
(I have 280mm / 105mm width and 282mm / 102mm width (second time my messurement was 2mm off))
Thank you
Great video. Only one problem -- don't different brands size their boots differently?
Yes they do! At least Vans women’s snowboard boots. Learned the hard way last season when I bought boots that were too small based on this advice. I think the mondo sizing may be correct though. My new boots are a half size up compared to my normal shoe size but the mondo size matches this chart.
Just bought a pair today. Tried on K2, Burton, and 32. All fit different at size 10. Went with the thirty two because of the wider width.
This is awesome info. I got to return my new boots so if my feet are 10.75 inches what size do I need ? And my feet are wide

Fortunately, I am able to ride by wearing boots that are still a FULL size smaller than what I was wearing when I first started riding. (…a decision Which I am CERTAIN contributed to my current lead foot deformity.)

@@wiredsport1 Thanks! so both are 26.5cm in length and 10.5 cm in width, I'm going to try on some more sizes in a few days just want to make sure.
Got it. 10.5 cm is an EE with at 265 mm (Mondo 265 or size 8.5 US in snowboard boots). This requires a very specific Wide boot. I would strongly suggest either the Burton Ruler Wide or Burton ION Wide size 8 1/2.

Did the measurement instruction from the video and came down to;
Left 24,7cm
Right 24,8 cm
Width on both 9 cm
Despite not recommending the photon step on boot would you still recommend mondo 25? In a wide?
Thanks so much for your response.

Sneakers size 12, i bought Burton used size 12 in great condition. However, they dont fit to me :( i wish i knew this
Great video, I bought a board second hand and got bindings and boots with it for free, they where the same size is my shoes so I thought it would fit.
Thank you. I recently got measured as follows:
Left 31cm long x 11.4cm wide
Right 31.2cm long x 11cm wide.
I’m planning on buying the Burton Photon Step On, and here are my measurements:
Left: 274mm, 99mm width
Right 273mm, 98mm width
I ordered size 9, 9.5 and 10. According to you explanations, the 9.5 would be the right fit.
My question is for a new pair, a little bit of toe curling is acceptable or not ?

Best vid I’ve seen on snowboard boots!

Hello, I have had feet going numb and or pins and needle pains in my feet for the last 3 seasons. The last 2 seasons have been particularly bad because my big toe nail turns black and falls off my guess is from toe slam. So I went and found your measurement website and used it and purchased some Lashed Double Boa Bradshaw Snowboard Boots 2023 size 9.5 US. They came in mail and I tried them on couldn't wear for more than 5mins without getting pain or numbness in one of my foot seems they are too small.

Hi Nathan, 26.67 cm is Mondopoint 270 or size 9 US in snowboard boots. 10.16 cm is EE width and requires a very speific group of Wide boots. I would strongly suggest the Burton Ruler Wide or Burton ION Wide in size 9. STOKED!
@@wiredsport1 Thanks! I'll give those a try. Looking for anything to eliminate the pain.
Hi Mark,
289 mm is indeed Mondopoint 290 or size 11 US in snowboard boots.
Thanks so much for the reply and recommendations. I will check out the Salomons. Thanks!
I can't find any of the Salomons in stock anywhere. How about the Burton Photon in wide. Are they a good alternative?
@@markdowdle1 Hi Mark, I would not suggest the Photon's. They are not the correct width for you and they have too many discomfort issues. Salomon is the only brand that produces for E width and only for their Wide models. A lot of product is slow in arriving this year. I would hold tight. STOKED!

Sad this is new information for me. Thank you
My measured shoe size is 9.5.
So, boot brand can vary a bit with size and fitment.
so your toes have lots of room in normal shoes with 9.5 but snowboard boots need size 10? doesnt make sence
Keep your wide board unless you don't want carve at all! if you buy the right boot it will still be bigger than your board and boot out,
But my friend said you should be able to fit a chicken between the liner and the shell
Wait but I wear a US women's 8 in shoes but the US women's 9 snowboard boots were to tight I couldn't even get my foot in so how does that work? Our we talking like men's size in this video?

I've tried size 9 boots and they absolutely crush my feet, size 10 seems good to me but depending on brand it is either really nice fit or my foot begins to curl(testing with thickish snowboard socks) I found the sweet spot was 10 and 10.5 which i know is slightly bigger than the measuring guide but it seems like some of the wider fitting boots are far too soft for my taste, i do like a stiffer boot.
Awesome video - waiting for the heat molding one!! :)
I max out the boat tightening it around my feet :(
And my mondo is about 265 so really I should be like a 8.5 luckily my board sizes were picked off my weight so I shouldn't need to downsize my board
Right Foot:
Length: 25.70cm|10.12in|257 mondo
Width: 9.3cm|3.6in
Left Foot:
Length: 25.70cm|10.12in|257 mondo
Width: 9.3cm|3.6in
I usually wear a 9.5 in mens shoes but it seems that I would fit an 8 according to the general size.
Thanks!
Hi, Please post all four of your barefoot measurements. Thanks!
@@wiredsport1 Thanks for your quick reply. My measurements are: Right-272 mm, Left-271 mm, Width-101 mm
@@dancrainic2480 Hi, your foot is mondopoint 275 or size 9 1/2 US in snowboard boots. 101 millimeters is E width and requires a very specific boot. The Salomon Dialogue Wide in size 9 1/2 will be the perfect choice. Thank you.
@@wiredsport1 Thank you very much!
I wear size 12 US in my day to day shoes, but 13 in my snowboard boots...
Hi, This indicates an error on one end or the other. a size 13 in snowboard boots equates to a US size 14.5 shoe size. I would strongly suggest that you take and post all four of your barefoot measurements. STOKED!
@wiredsport1 the shop I got my boots on suggested I wore 12s but they fit really tight and I had to go with size 13...

I haven’t bought snowboard boots yet but when i get rentals i always size up about 1.5-2 sizes and my toes are touching the end of the boot or even need to be scrunched up. Is this how they should fit or should i try sizing down or up even more?
Hey Randy! The 2 best videos I’ve ever seen on sizing!!!!! Can you do the one for the Snowboard and bindings? Thanks.
Hi John, For Sure, I have those and a bunch more planned for this winter. Stay tuned and thanks!
Now that’s a helpful video.
I have received my burton rulers wide in 8.5
My feet are:
L: 26,4/ 10,1
R: 26,3 / 9,9
They are very tight at the moment and my toes are crawled.
Hi, I will be happy to help. Please post all four of your barefoot measurements as instructed in the video above. Thank you!
Hi Maks,
Not weird at all. Let's start with all four of your barefoot measurements as taken in our how to measure video. Width is every bit as important as length. ruclips.net/video/TkSJJ6_1KYc/видео.html. STOKED!
@@wiredsport1 It actually turned out different after following instructions from the other video
Right: 27mm, 10.6mm width
Left: 26.9mm, 11.3 mm width
From looking at a charts it looks like even US 10 should be too big for me, but it really isn't.
You will need a very specific Wide boot to obtain the correct fit. The Burton Ruler Wide or ION Wide boots are great choices in Mondo 270 or size 9 US. STOKED!

I really found this video great trying to straight things out but it is totaly wrong in my case. I measured my foot to 26.5 cm and thought i wanted a bigger boot so i ordered Burton Photon in a size 9. They where so tight i had to change size. The correct size turned out to be 11. Am i understanding this chart wrong or can you help me get it clear?
Hi Jakob, Please post all four of your barefoot measurements. Please watch our how to measure video to get those correct. 26.5 is always Mondopoint 265 or size 8.5 US in snowboard boots but you need to match width as well. This can not be done with a single measurement. All four are always required. We also never suggest the Photon boot. It very often causes discomfort. STOKED!
Interesting video. I've been snowboarding for +20 years and this is the first I've heard of this. When I'm buying new sneakers I usually need to buy 1 size to large because I have wide feet. My feet are 28,1cm long and 11,4cm wide (at the widest part of my foot). What would you suggest ?
Hi, I will be happy to help. You are Mondopoint 285 which is a size 10.5 US in snowboard boots. You're width is EEE which requires a very specific boot. I would strongly suggest the Burton Ruler wide in size 10.5. Please note that we do not suggest the Step-On models for wide feet. Thank you!
My brannock shoe size and internet shoe size didn’t change. Both are at 11.0 and my boot size is at 10. Did I goof up?
Hi, this will depend on your actual barefoot measurement but this certainly can be correct. Internet shoe size will not always vary from US shoe size depending on that measurement. Snowboard boots size will always be different from the other two values. STOKED!

Hi, I will be happy to help. No, this is still 100% an issue today. Please send all four of your barefoot measurements. Please keep in mind that width is every bit as important as length in determining the correct size. STOKED!

Please post all four of your barefoot measurements. If you are riding the same size as your shoe size, you are definitely leaving a lot of performance and comfort on the table. How do so many commenters buy completely incorrect boot sizes?? Did you not wear the boots for 15-30 mins in the shop and notice the pain?
Does sizing change when thinking about splitboarding boots? Especially for times when you might be hiking a significant mileage such as adventures to backcountry huts?
well... my normal shoe size is european 43.5 / 44 but my 44 snowboard boots are way to small because they are to short on my toes and it hurts when i am just standing.. probably going for a 45
Growing up my dad always told me snowboard boots should be a whole size bigger than my normal US shoe size. That led to incredible pain which has brought me here.
