@@BAYAREA-kd1igwhat’s so stupid is I remember as a kid when they were building Mt Davis. They said the project back then cost about $250 million. At the time they could have built a new stadium for not much more than that. They should have renovated the coliseum to make it a beautiful and lasting baseball only stadium and built something separate for the Raiders. Sports in Oakland started to die the day the Raiders moved back.
Funny that 2 of the Athletics, Dave Stewart and Rickey Henderson would be Blue Jays in 1993 having faced the Blue Jays in 2 ALCS in 1989 and 1992 already.
The last 4 games in this series (Games 3 through 6) were all played in the afternoon, while all 7 of the games in the Braves/Pirates series were at night. Similar to the next season when 3 of the 6 Blue Jays/White Sox games were played in the afternoon while the Phillies/Braves had only 1 day game. CBS was concerned about ratings because Canadian viewers don't count towards US ratings and advertising prices. So the Blue Jays were largely relegated to the background until the World Series both years.
i'm excited about them getting a new ballpark near jack london sq. but deep down inside i wish they'd restore the coliseum to pre-davis and modernize the amenities. that's where they made their history. it's super easy to get to.
I sure hope that new stadium is not in Las Vegas. I remember this game as the last game the A's won when they were really in their heyday as a dominant baseball force. They had great attendance, the park looked and felt great with a beautiful outfield looking out to the hills. The SF Giants were the ones that were looking to possibly leave town. How the tables have turned. What happened when Mt. Davis was constructed and Wally Haas sold the team. Very sad as these were really amazing years to watch East Bay pro baseball.
Same here! Game 4, Jays rally from down 6-1, highlighted by Robbie Alomar's game-tying 2-run shot in the 9th; Game 6, Blue Jays defeated the A's 9-2 to clinch their 1st-EVER American League Pennant, & become 1st Canadian franchise to advance to the World Series. THOSE games should be posted too! :-)
I was given free tickets to game 4 so I could take my young son so he could wear his A's hat to a real game. We were cash poor so it was a huge deal. The four bare skinned lads with fake blue afros were taunting the locals all game, then they gave my son a $5 bill while we stood in line at a concession. I hated that, but the smile on my son's face was priceless. I expected to leave for a long ride back to Rohnert Park with a win, but Dennis Eckersley got murdered 😢. Looking back now, tho, it was a great day with my son!
the broadcaster said something about the attendance, he said that the stadium was not complete full, however the attendance that day was almost 45000 people, for me it is a lot of people for a baseball game
daniel martín benavides salazar tou gotta remember that the A's shared the Oakland coliseum with the then L.A raiders and that coliseum holds 70-80,000 fans for raiders games then and now so 45,000 fans in a 80,000 seat coliseum might look a little empty
@@richiebee1984 I believe they altered the seating for baseball to football games so the 70-80 k capacity is not available for baseball, unless something changes like expected huge fan turnout.
The Coliseum has NEVER held 80,000 people. Even after Mt. Davis was built and in a football configuration. The most the Coliseum has ever held is no more than 65,000.
@@richiebee1984 Noooooooo you are so wrong here you bozo. In 1992 the Raiders were playing in the L.A Memorial Coliseum and the A's were playing in the Oakland Alameda Coliseum. The Raiders moved back to Oakland in 1995 till 2019.
@@BAYAREA-kd1ig Well I be damned sorry I made a mistake as I'm not a fucking raiders fan(love bo jackson and always root for the raiders to go deep in the playoffs) I'm a diehard giants and jets fan
I doubt that we'll ever see something like that again (or at least for the foreseeable future) due to the bulk of League Championship Series games moving over to the more flexible (meaning not having to deal w/ the headaches of the network's prime time scheduling & affiliates' needs) area of cable channels like TBS and the upcoming Fox Sports 1.
MLB Vault, I have a request....could you please post this game with the full MLB on CBS pre-game and post-game shows attached to it? I'd like to see the complete telecast from when MLB on CBS signed on to when they faded to black.
Throw us a freakin' bone...your title game is on here. The A's '89 title isn't and everything else is us losing in excruciating fashion. You know you won...enjoy it!
Being African American, it's sometimes hard seeing not as many as NBA and NFL have cornered the market so to speak. Hopefully that will get back to these days when I really love this game.
Yup it's amazing how many black players there was in the 80's and 90's. Half of each of these teams is black it seems. I wonder how much Jordan had to do with it. He even captured my heart and I barely knew what basketball was. Around 95 I became an NBA fan because of Michael Jordan. And if you think about the NBa, it used to be way more white too.
Last playoff game at the Oakland Coliseum with the old classic view pre-Mount Davis.
+Chris Kreager Also the last ALCS win the A's have had. Remarkable considering the fact they've been in the postseason eight times since
@MANCHESTER UNITED more power to soccer. it's a beautiful game. but baseball is just cooler. and you get to use your hands and arms! :-)
Oakland has lost 6 ALDS game 5s since 1992 too. Talk about choking
Like the 86 mets a great team but feels like a failed dynasty as impressive as it Is
Back when the Oakland Coliseum looked like a baseball stadium.
Even though it's originally a football stadium before it became a multi-purpose stadium.
Man I miss the original design before Mt Davis
Why did the screw it up when they put alot if money in it I wanna say

The blue jays lineup tough
Both teams, I think Oakland would have whooped Atlanta also
Too bad all the games aren't available... I'd love to see the entire series again...
This is like the worst game of the series...
the NLCS from this year was even better....especially Game 7, with that awesome ending

walterlv01 That's incorrect- game 2 of the 92 NLCS was a day game.
And the 1991 ALCS had a few day games as well.
@@BAYAREA-kd1ig In 1991 games 2 and 5 were day games. Game 2 was Wednesday afternoon and game 5 was Sunday afternoon after the NFL games on CBS.
I hope Oakland gets a new stadium as nice as pre-Mt. Davis Oakland Coliseum.

Oakland needs a new ballpark even more than the Ray's even though the collesoim has a unique charm and I'm a red Sox fan

What a difference time makes. The A's averaged about 33 thousand a game that season.
I've always questioned why this game was posted, but not Game 6 or Game 4? The Athletics don't even end up winning this series.
why would they post this game instead of game 4 lol?
Because Eckersley is still butt hurt over that game 😂

do you have game four?? Or Game six? Please upload.. love you bro!!
I was at this game.
Is this the same Oakland Collesium that's having sewage problems today? Sad to see it go downhill...
Yeah, I was just there a few days ago and its a total dump, and Mount Davis doesn't help matters. I hope they get a new stadium soon.
Still waiting
Would love to see Game 4!! Been looking forever for a copy. I had it on VHS, but it tape wore thin, and was garbage. :(
Big Will dang, I have some good games on vhs that have degraded.
Jim Kaat was underrated
Dick Stockton (PBP) & Jim Kaat (C)

Where is game 4?!
Yeah, absolutely ridiculous that they would post this game and not game 6.

A's dominated the late 80's & early 90's
SWINGIN A's
Aj Miranda also went to the postseason 5 years in a row from 98-02.
Weird how in 200s the worst Oakland team won a series
Rickey Rally !
Canseco, Clemens, Thomas, we mighta run outta water.
what the hell is with Dave Stewart's voice?...like Mike Tyson's...all that testosterone and then a high pitched voice...?
How was stew in 93?
