Cool Trivia: When James Cameron was casting for the role of "Newt", most of the child actors that auditioned gave a very happy, bubbly performance. Then Carrie Henn came in and gave a very serious realistic audition of a child suffering from severe PTSD. Cameron virtually hired her on the spot.
She was actually in my 4th grade Sunday School class. I remember our teacher saying she had been in a movie but that we probably hadn’t seen it (I had). She was very reserved but also nice.
I have sympathy for Gorman. The company deliberately chose a commanding officer who would be out of his depth, not cope, not a natural leader, inexperienced. They wanted chaos to protect the alien. He tried his best. And came through in the end, trying to save Vasquez.
Agreed. He's annoying when he's bumbling at the start, but he has a heroic sacrifice. I think it's helped that after he fumbles so bad he doesn't try to re-assert himself as the man in charge. Plus, he does apologise which helps give him more sympathy in that he's not bad, just VERY out of his depth.
You should check out the Director's Cut. You find out that Ripley had a daughter who died before she was found and revived. Also, there a couple scenes with automated Sentinel guns.
The best deleted scene wasn't the sentry guns, or the introduction of Amanda, it certainly wasn't Newts family alive (which definately *should* have been cut), it wasn't the pet hamster, it wasn't even Hudson's sharp sticks speech. It was the "moment" (indicating a potential budding romance) shared between "Dwayne" and "Ellen"!

Supposedly "Bishop" had a tough time with the scene where he got torn in half. The "milk" was watered down vanilla yogurt. Due to delays in shooting, the stuff was left out for some time. As a result, it had turned rancid. Lance went ahead with the scene with the funky stuff anyway. It ended up making him pretty sick later.
Paul Reiser (Burke) took his mother to the premier. When Burke went through the door and was face to face with the alien his mother stood up and cheered.
The scene where they played mumblypeg, they didn't tell Bill Paxton they were going to switch up and use his hand, his reaction afterwards was authentic. They did speed it up a little, but he was still in danger of a serious injury. I know you've heard the franchise goes down after this, I mean how many sequels are better than the original. Look, don't go by other people's opinions, nobody knows what you're going to like and not like but you. I don't know if I think that Aliens is a "better" movie...I think both films are different enough that they can both be considered equally good. But I know that Aliens is much more fun for me to rewatch. 😁
I agree that both are extremely good for different reasons. The first one I love all the tension that the movie provides, the action of each character, their fear of this thing. Atmospheric horror is my favorite kind of horror. No cheap tricks or jump scares, just made the ambient speak by itself. Now the second is a extreme fun and action pack movie, with also some parts more "horror ish" but in general completely different atmosphere. I love the story, the characters and the pace of the movie. I feel exactly the same about the terminator franchise. The first movie is much more dark and thoughtful in terms of pace with each scene made specially for maintaining the high tension pace of the story even during exposition, the atmosphere is fantastic in my opinion. The second one, like aliens, is a great action movie, with also good characters and scenes. Is also more fun to watch to relax and enjoy.
The company knew all about the Alien. When she was talking to the board, they were either playing dumb, or the info was above their pay grade to know about what happened.. There are so many books of what happened before and after them landing on LV426..
In the extended cut we see what happened. Burke after learning of the derelict ship from Ripley, gets a family on LV-426 to check it out (Newts family to be specific). They find the ship and the parents go inside while newt and her brother wait in the car. The mom returns to the car with the husband who is now unconscious with a facehugger attached to his face. After that the next time we see the colony is when Ripley and the others arrive. In the books that you mention, do they go into how the colonists fought against the xenos before they all died?
@@thecoffeemainiak5400 Yes that is in the EC. However, there is a book where it talks about the company know about the transmission, then replacing the science officer with Ash for the trip back to Earth. In the Alien novel, Dallas turns off the beacon when he is on the derelict ship. Ash was sending updates to the company right up till the end. In another book, he transferred his program to the shuttle and take it for a ride basically. He goes on a side mission, something goes wrong in the mission.. His program is wiped from the shuttle computer. This is the reason it takes 57 years to get found.
We were very excited back in the day when we heard that the director of The Terminator was making the sequel to Alien. Needless to say, he exceeded our expectations. We had never seen anything like this before. It was perfection. Like the original it has stood the test of time. Cameron has earned his reputation.
YEEEAAAAHHHHHHHH Finally got to this one!!!!!! GAME OVER, MAN!!!!!!!!! The scene where Hicks sticks his head up through the ceiling and sees all the xenomorphs closing in on him has left me PERMANENTLY scarred and I refuse to EVER enter an attic because I dont want to see monsters rushing at me NO FREAKIN THANK YOU
The actor that played Bishop did that knife game scene on his own. The were going to use a recording trick, but Henricksen bought knives and practiced a lot before filming started which is insanely impressive. The power loaders that Ripley got in were controlled by someone housed inside of it. She was basically standing on a platforms attached to a puppeteer's legs and they moved the arms while she acted. Without looking it up, I believe they were made out of PVC pipes and other stuff. Just like the first movie where you see the alien as Ripley is going for the controls hinting at a reveal later, this movie does the same thing when the ship's landing legs hit all that garbage. You can see the alien queen being pulled up into the landing gear area, which was hinting at the reveal once they escaped and landed just a bit later. :D The 15 min countdown at the end of the movie was actually a 15 min countdown for real.
Actor James Remar was originally cast to play Hicks, and actually filmed some scenes, but due to having major issues with drink and drug abuse, he pulled out and was replaced by Micheal Biehn. There are photos of James Remar in full costume on set, and i believe that in a couple of scenes it's the back of James Remar you can see. He recovered from his addictions thankfully.
Oh god sick days were awesome! Ma picked me up from school (fever etc) with 2 bags in the car, one a blockbuster with jurassic park, t2, popcorn and redvines n coke, jp which had just came out that day and the other chinese food! Moms rule!
Apparently, James Cameron pitched this movie by writing the word “Alien” on a white board, stepped away and gestured to the word. Then wrote the “S” at the end of the word, stepped away and gestured again. Then drew a line through the “S” making a dollar symbol, implying how well it will sell. I love picturing the executives approval of seeing “Alien$” on a white board.
James Cameron does the best sequels of all time. this movie is the best sci fi horror ever made. no CGI, all practical effects. shits on movies today with all their cgi
What made this a great sequel is that it took what happened in the first and advanced the story. Most sequels just re-tell the same story. You should watch the extended edition, it adds a lot of cool scenes
Here's a little bit of fun fact/trivia to y'all: Resident Evil/BIOHAZARD franchise. There is a character named Rebecca Chambers, who is initially found deep inside the Spencer Mansion in the first game, all alone. Ever since then, Rebecca's been depicted showing a "thumbs up" hand sign/gesture in all subsequent media and promotional materials/ads/art, etc. That hand gesture/sign of hers became memetic and iconic for the series' fans (included in RE 0, in REmake, in RE Vendetta CGI movie, and even in Dead By Daylight's crossover DLC), but very few people know about the actual origins of WHY Shinji Mikami decided to include it in the game. Aliens. NOW you know.
James Cameron used the time that he had to wait for Arnold Schwarzenegger to finish filming Conan the Barbarian before filming The Terminator to write the script for this film.
Corporal Hicks didn't pass out on the drop ship; he was sleeping. They were trying to show how jaded and experienced he was for combat missions. Lt. Gorman's character arc paid off from his inexperience to going out like a G with the baddest of the badasses Pvt. Vasquez. He's 100 on-point about Alien: Isolation -- the stealth terror and corridor ambience hasn't been equaled in any game. On the opposite end of stealth, I recommend "Aliens Colonial Marines" (ACM) on PC released four years before "Isolation." Sure, everybody rightly dumped on ACM at release; however, after a few years the game's more or less fixed and features authentic sound effects and weapons for any fan. ACM isn't quite "Isolation" tier, but deserves a look for its fidelity to the franchise.
Ailens was my first introduction to the Alien franchise. This was my first film that I've watched and it was so so good! I'm glad that you guys are reacting to the sequel.

Had an old buddy from the marines say he got laid everytime he had this movie on. 1995. Just an old memory that popped up. Tks for the reaction as usual
After watching Newts Tale on RUclips, I learned a lot about what happened before Ripely, and the soldiers arrived to help out and how Newt survive for so long. But I do wish Burkes death would have stayed in the movie too. His death in the comic book was perfect justice. But as always, the books have all the details, and the movies leave out.
Hudson is one of the best characters in cinema history.. man went from the most overconfident dumbass, to the ultimate pussy, to dying like an absolute bad ass hero. RIP Bill Paxton ❤
A couple of fun things. One, search for Michael Biehn and Ripley cosplay. That should get you to an image Biehn did with a young girl in Ripley cosplay at a convention. They recreated when Hicks was teaching Ripley that weapon. Two, the scene where Newt falls from the wheel then down the shaft, the actress playing Newt, Carrie Henn, kept messing up the take because that shaft was basically a large slide. So Cameron promised her that after they film the scene, she'd be able to play on it the rest of the day. She did the scene and Cameron came through.
Couple of fun facts about the movie: the budget actually only allowed for a handful of alien suits, six if memory serves correctly, so they had to get clever with shots to make there seem like there were more than actually present. And Weaver herself refused to see the puppet of the Queen until they shot the scene of her seeing it in order to give a genuine reaction
James Remar was originally cast as Corporal Dwayne Hicks in James Cameron's 1986 film Aliens, but was replaced by Michael Biehn after two weeks of filming. Remar's scenes were reshot and he only appears briefly in the final film in a wide shot of the Xenomorph hive. Remar has said that he was fired due to his drug problems and an arrest for possession of illicit substances. He also said that the incident damaged his relationship with Walter Hill, the producer of the Alien series who had previously directed him in The Warriors. Hill didn't hire Remar again for 12 years. From Google AI
Sigourney Weaver was the best cast for this Alien series. I also liked the other actors in this part. Yes, please watch the other parts, including Alien vs Predator 1 and 2 👌 I hope you have a great time. Best wishes from Bremen ☕️😊

Aliens is very personal to me because I got to go the exhibit I saw the military car and Aliens and I even saw the Queen which was incredible. It was also my first rated R film.
Actually Apones' team is the best of the best, the issue was Gorman, He was still too new and inexperienced. The higher ups didn't know, the only person who was following it was Weyland Yutani that Burke worked for, he sent the colony the coordinates based on the Nostromos flight recorder and on Hadleys Hope WeyYu, had dispatched three scientist, after Burke sent that info Newts family go to the direlect ship and her dad brings back the face hugger attached, then they send out more people and they come back with more face huggers and that was the end of that colony, even the marines stationed there got over taken, It's why Newt told her that it wouldn't matter when Ripley told her "these people are marines and they are here to protect you" all of this gets explained in the book "River of Pain"
For a film with such great scenes, that grab and flip into the airlock at the end was so smooth. Also, as much dislike Alien 3 and 4 get, they're really good movies worth watching, and help flesh out the universe this series exists in.
My 50lb Australian shepherd whom has Zero chill with anyone but my immediate family (ffs, I cannot even have friends over, she won't stop barking at them) is named Ripley, 100% becausr of this movie. I like to joke that all that barking is her saying "get away from her you bitvh!" Glad you got to see this finally, such a classic.🤘
Fun fact: there's a deleted scene where it's revealed Burke didn't die straight away. While searching for Newt, Ripley finds Burke pinned to a wall. And he's clearly a host at this point. He begs Ripley to help him somehow. Her only response is to give him a grenade for his troubles, and leave him to his fate.
At the end that wasn't a shotgun. It was a grenade launcher that used the Colonial Marines M-40 HEDP (High Explosive Duel Purpose) grenade. It's the same grnadd that Vasquez and Gorman used when they was cornered in the air ducts
“Alien: Isolation” (2014) game inspired by “Alien” (1979) movie. While “Aliens: Dark Descent” (2023) game inspired by “Aliens” (1986) movie. This movie is one of the main reasons why casting Paul Reiser in Stranger Things was brilliant.
Most definitely, it's hard to see him has a bad guy. He played it well but overall it's not his image, there's actors who just were born to be villains, he isn't one of them, he better be in season 5 of Stranger Things!

Bill Paxton (Hudson) apologized several time to the young actress playing Newt when he had to say bad words in front of her. He's sorely missed.
I always thought that Newt latching onto Hudson was the cutest part of the thing. Repeating him "Affirmative!" When Hicks jumped through the window, she screamed for "Hudson!!" Christ, kid, look out!
How does that work tho?

I have sympathy for Gorman. The company deliberately chose a commanding officer who would be out of his depth, not cope, not a natural leader, inexperienced. They wanted chaos to protect the alien. He tried his best. And came through in the end, trying to save Vasquez.
they had a great death!

@@jerodast Lol
Burke is NOT a science guy; he's a corporate guy.
Him and Rhoades got a lot to talk about
Ugh. That's dedication.
Alien and Aliens are like two classic rock songs, you don't want to compare them, you just want to listen to them both.
ONE OF THE GREATEST SEQUELS EVER MADE!!!
BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL!!!
AND THE STORY ABOUT THE MAKING OF THIS MOVIE IS JUST AS AMAZING!!!!
A masterpiece of a movie. And the practical effects are superb. Sigourney Weaver was Oscar nominated for her role here.
Finish the series, I think you'll find something you like in each one, especially Resurrection, there are more recognizable faces, a couple of your favorite actors in fact. You don't have to react to them, but you should watch them to decide if you like them or not. Anyway, loved the review, love you guys, take care and stay safe ❤️
Then of course there's the AvP retcon that The Company has known about the Xenomorphs since the early 2000s.
We were very excited back in the day when we heard that the director of The Terminator was making the sequel to Alien. Needless to say, he exceeded our expectations. We had never seen anything like this before. It was perfection. Like the original it has stood the test of time. Cameron has earned his reputation.
One of the greatest sequels ever made.
The cinematography of Aliens still amazes me

Don't you mean Hicks sticks his head through the ceiling?
@@erwinzyx no. I mean Hudson, sir, hes hicks.
"I wanna see an alien get punched by one of these"

Actor James Remar was originally cast to play Hicks, and actually filmed some scenes, but due to having major issues with drink and drug abuse, he pulled out and was replaced by Micheal Biehn. There are photos of James Remar in full costume on set, and i believe that in a couple of scenes it's the back of James Remar you can see. He recovered from his addictions thankfully.
_Terminator 2_ AND _Aliens_
James Cameron knew how to do sequels right!
And who could forget Piranha II: The Spawning? A masterpiece! 😅

There's a reason James Cameron is a legend. Aliens, Terminator and T2, the Abyss, and yea Titanic, Avatar, True Lies, and the rest.
Ever noticed his movies always begin with the same letters.
@@Buckaroo_BaldwinI'm 12, I went "Huh, T and A?" then started giggling like a lunatic.
James Cameron's pitch to the studio for a an "Alien" sequel was he wrote on a whiteboard "Alien$". True Story...
Here's a little bit of fun fact/trivia to y'all:
Resident Evil/BIOHAZARD franchise.
This was a reaction video worthy of the source material. I heartily recommend an extended edition with the "sentry gun" scenes.
James Cameron used the time that he had to wait for Arnold Schwarzenegger to finish filming Conan the Barbarian before filming The Terminator to write the script for this film.
Most intense sci-fi film I've watched in my life. You can't replicate the sensation of watching it for the first time.
Yeah, I saw it in the theater & it was a lot of fun!
Refreshing of a reactor to say no we wont do a first react cuz weve seen it.

Ive rewatched a movie id seen as a kid and it either was a totally new experience cuz your adult brain sees things different OR things are different how you thought you rememberd!
From the point that Newt gets taken and on is one of the best sequences in film history.
Thanks, I appreciate you guys being honest feather than faking reactions. So much better

You ain't half bad....I'm still laughing 😂😂😂😂😂
Honestly, I don't think there was a summer blockbuster as good as Aliens until the Dark Knight. Just a perfect rollercoaster of a movie.
For a film with such great scenes, that grab and flip into the airlock at the end was so smooth. Also, as much dislike Alien 3 and 4 get, they're really good movies worth watching, and help flesh out the universe this series exists in.
Everytime I find myself in a jacked up situation I pay homage to the late bill Paxton.... "It's game over man, it's game over."😊

Which is how they end up in the nest.
At the end that wasn't a shotgun. It was a grenade launcher that used the Colonial Marines M-40 HEDP (High Explosive Duel Purpose) grenade. It's the same grnadd that Vasquez and Gorman used when they was cornered in the air ducts
