aliens, the next part, is a must see too. I was twelve when i watched alien in the cinema. My father thought it would be something like star wars and took me with him..... i was never so scared in my life again. Great experience
I was in high school, working a movie theater job when Aliens came out. I was so annoyed when a girl who also worked there called dibs first on a huge Aliens lobby display showing Sigourney Weaver holding the flamethrower. Back then they used to just throw those things out.
One of the greatest horror films of all times, and *the* finest sci-fi horror ever made. "Okay, but I kind of get the theme of how this movie's going to go so maybe I can calm myself down a bit. It's not gonna be crazy-scary; it's just gonna be a couple of jump-scares, I think." 😆 I think this reaction will be a blast. 😁 Alien: "Nobody listens to the smart girl. The only ones to survive are the smart girl and her cat." 😆
This movie was a 'remake' of the 1958 classic: "It! The Terror from Beyond Space", which was a terrifically well-done, and equally tense and scary movie as this one.
I did in fact, see this on opening weekend in 1979, in Denver, Colorado. It's a fun experience to see someone else go through the same trauma as we did in the theaters, over 45 years ago. Good reaction!
Wonderful reaction, wonderful! I say this as a compliment and with complete respect but this is the funniest Alien reaction Ive ever seen! You honestly need to react to more horror movies. Definitely need to do that. Absolutely entertaining!
In Aliens, it is revealed during the hearing scene that Lambert is actually trans, born a male and transitioned into a female, I saw in an interview that the crew believed that gender will be more fluid in the future.
@@MrDannySteele Wow, that is amazing considering this was in 1986. And such a subtle way to do it, in the background text. I have the movie in 4k, so I will definitely have a look at that scene next time I watch the movie.
@@MrDannySteeleI actually read the novel before seeing the movie since I was way too young. One of our group brought it with them while we were camping up in the HIgh Sierra Mountains. My mom read passages out loud at night by the campfire. Scared the crap out of me! So of course I had to read the whole thing later. It then became my mission to see the movie somehow.
The best description I have ever heard of this movie: Nobody listens to the smart woman. Everybody dies. Except the smart woman... and her cat. Great reaction to this movie love.
As of Alien Romulus, the facehugger and the stuff in pumps into you to make the chestburster have their own binomial taxonomic nomenclature. The facehugger is called _Manumala Noxhydria,_ "Evil Hand, the Jar of Night", and the stuff it pumps into you as it humps your throat is called _Plagiaris Praepotens,_ "Powerful Mimic".
Ship designed for no violent movements and zero gravity landed on top of a boulder, the gear bent, the whole 60k ton ship shifted with a jerk, and that's why stuff broke and alarms went off. This one of the few movies that show space ship landings as being difficult, they almost always land way too smoothly.
@dimetropteryx even in early movie films, you have to be realistic and practical(even on a ship, which is designed exactly it's supposed to be) something falls on side of the corridor you'll hear it panning from where you(you don't know what it is but you know it came from within the haul of the ship) it's dark enough to be dramatic, eerily and unknown(even though it's your ship) Secondly, people often forget the most practical things in movies, the camera. The camera is also the audience and it sees what others have missed it or is only speculated
WOW, I had to come back after I finished watching your reaction. That was awesome, you killed it Mi Amour, I enjoyed the hell out of that. Your reactions and the look on your face at times was epic, genuine, and right on point. Bravo
Always intresting when people watch the Directors Cut for their first viewing if they react to the Big Chap just hanging in the chains motionless at 37:29. With no music cue that "oh look something scary" a lot of people don't notice it or just as it hits them "Wait what is that???" it cuts away. I kinda understand why it was cut so you don't see it till it shows up behind Brett, but it's such a creepy shot that messed with your head.
There is some additional footage of Brett's encounter with the Xenomorph. It is actually quite a bit more graphic. But the part that gets me is it better shows the absolute state of terror that Brett is in. He tries to call out Parker's name, but it only comes out as gibberish, almost barking, because he is so scared. Although the Director cut is plenty good, it would have been nice to have included this. It's hard to find even on RUclips.
17:20 Fun fact: the laser light that was used to create the barrier of the incubation chamber was borrowed by art director Roger Christian from fellow art director Anton Furst. Furst was using the lights for the current tour of The Who and he was setting them up for the only concert that was part of the tour in Shepperton, which was just down the street from the studio where they were filming the movie.
I'm barely in here, but, I like your slight confusion over the hibernation pods. But, yeah, they go to sleep, the ship travels to it's destination, then it wakes them up when they're close. The Alien universe doesn't have Faster Than Light travel (AFAIK barring recent films) So, these minder leave Earth, go to sleep while their ship zooms along for YEARS, they do their mining and stuff, load up a whole boatload of ore, then head back to Earth asleep for another several years long journey.
At the beginning when the ship set down on the planet, the surface was pretty rough with rock outcroppings. The stress on the ship's frame (probably a slight twisting because the landing gear weren't level on the surface) caused some alarms and systems to require repair. The movie gives you a slight clue to this by focusing on the landing and one of the gear treads angles sharply in a quick shot before they go interior shot to see everything going haywire.
Ah, really enjoyed your reaction! 11 yr old me watched this first time on VHS late 90s with friends.. God, was it terrifying! One thing that always bugged older me was why on earth would the corporation focus on recovering the slimy oversized cockroach alien instead of the damned advanced tech of the huge alien cosmonaut!?... Anyway, keep it up lovely Natascha!
I heard it was theorized that because of the Alien's heightened metabolism, it had a lifespan of only a couple days and that was why it didn't attack Ripley outright in the shuttle and waited until she directly antagonized it: it was looking for a place to curl up and die.
I love how well you caught details that take many a few views to see. There's a lot of wonderfully built setting and background which is shown, not told. One detail is that Ash was added to the crew at the last minute. As was that order Ripley found on Mother, the ship's computer. The time it's set in, by the by, is in 2122. Ripley ran back to stop the countdown because the alien was between her and the shuttle. That's why she was so cautious heading back towards it, and looks relieved (while super-stressed) when entering the shuttle. And as you figured out, the reason it wasn't still there is because it had hidden in the shuttle. And yes, that kind of undie outfit wasn't seen as that bad in the 70's. Different times. Sigourney was putting forth being nude in that scene, to emphasize her vulnerability. The outfit was the compromise. She didn't... dehair though, so that had to be done in post production. Which in the 70's meant manual airbrushing, frame by frame. The creature was designed by the Swiss artist H. R. Giger, who had some... interesting art designs. The actor inside it was some 208 cm tall, with very long legs. It became a truly iconic monster, which has influenced scifi and horror ever since the movie was released. Watching this in a dark theatre is... awesome. I have gone to several events where it has been shown. I love it so much. Usually the theatrical cut though, without the scene where Ripley finds Dallas and Brett cocooned towards the end. There was no sequel planned when this was created and filmed. Fox had little interest in one. When one finally was filmed... it was a smash hit.
Most people believe that Parker is the Chief Engineer. He's actually the Engineer and the Chief Engineer would be his supervisor. That's Ripley. They report to her, she orders them around. Clearly her job is Chief Engineer. You see this when they give the damage report over the intercom after the crash, when she goes below to supervise them, when they are sitting around and talking and she complains that Parker's "staff" just follows him around saying "right", you see it when Dallas asks Ripley how the repairs are coming, and you see it when Ripley, Parker and Bret are searching for the Alien. Clearly she is directly over these two men. That makes her chief engineer. Not to take anything away from the character of Parker. Most people who serve on merchant or naval vessels will tell you the real engineer is the guy in the engine room and the so-called chief, is just a supervisor behind a desk. The chief engineer's position is on the bridge. They are in charge of the entire physical aspect of the ship and not just the engine.
Ripley's job title was Executive Officer. Presumably in this system, that puts her in charge of the running the ship while the Captain and 2IC (Kane) make the decisions.
@@MrHws5mp Executive is not a job title. Everyone on the ship has a role. She clearly is directly supervising Parker and Bret and overseeing the ship's repair. If that's not the chief engineer than what is? Your confusion is in understanding the role of the Chief Engineer. They are responsible for much more than the engine room.
@@Lethgar_Smith Executive Officer is a standard job title in real life navies: they're known as the XO for short: "United States Navy and United States Coast Guard: The executive officer is the billet of the officer who is second-in-command. An XO is assigned to all ships, aviation squadrons, and shore units and installations, and is responsible to the captain for all ship's work, drills, exercises, personnel organization, and the policing and inspection of the ship. " From here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_officer However I did get it wrong with regard to Alien: on the Nostromo, Kane is the XO. Ripley is the "Warrant Officer". Parker is the Chief Engineer. These are the job titles they hold as per the script and all the official material. In Aliens she is described as "Warrant Officer Ripley" in the board of enquiry scene.
@@MrHws5mp But she's 3rd in command. "Ash, when Dallas and Kane are off the ship, Im senior officer." Her rank is never given in the script. Nor is her specific job title. I am proposing a theory based on the evidence in the actual filmed screenplay. Nor is Lambert's, nor Kane's nor either Parker or Bret. One must surmise their roles from what they do and the dialogue. This is what we can surmise. Lambert is the navigator. "Lambert: Where's Earth? Kane: You should know" She later provides the calculation for the return to Earth. Kane sits next to her on the bridge and appears to be the pilot although it is not specifically mentioned. It can be surmised he is 2nd in command in reference to Ripley reminding Ash of the chain of command. Ash is directly referred to as the "Science Officer" His duties appear to include both medical doctor and monitoring scientific data collection and radar type systems on the bridge. We know who the Captain is obviously and Parker and Bret clearly work in the engineering section. Ripley is in charge of assessing the damage to the ship and supervising the engineering staff in their repairs. That is the job description of a Chief Engineer.
After sitting through a load of reactions it's so good to hear a northern accent instead of another yank, especially with a film like this. You should deffo check the next one, there's a reason Ripley is so well loved, you'll love it, trust me.
Right at the end, that’s a perspective I haven’t heard before: that the mouth within the mouth is a vestige of the original chestburster. Sure, why not.

Well done Natascha! You've survived your first encounter with the muderous, slobby-chopped Alien! Now, chomp on a cigar, report to your commanding officer and get ready for the drop! ALIENS IS NEXT!!! OMG! I was born in '79 and only got to see Alien back in around 1994 - about 14. Having seen Space Balls previously I couldn't take the chestburster scene seriously, and yet not even ALIENS prepared me for the following deaths in the film - Lambert's last scream chills me to this day! I found it hard to get to sleep that night and...oh, dear, The Thing was on the following Saturday. Trust me, you need a frigging counselor to get you through that one! The bit where it eyes up everyone at the dinner table - "Good evening to you all! I shall enjoy your screams before I chomp your brains out...MWAHAHAHAHAHAH! Later, dudes!!!"
The explanation for Ash stopping Parker from stabbing the newborn alien, other than wanting to keep the alien safe, was to prevent its acid blood from eating through the ship's decks and potentially cause decompression or breaking some important cables/pipes. When they made the incision on the facehugger, they got lucky because no important circuits were destroyed.
19:11 😄 👍 Amazing movie. Not only cheap jump scares. They hold the tension so well. Also they do not drag out the violence with gore. You mostly see reactions to violence. Even from the cat. ;) Yes I saw it at the cinema a long time ago. Had not seen anything like it before.
I traumatised myself with Alien at 7 alone in pitch black when my parents said I wasn't allowed to watch it. I watched the whole thing through squinted eyes and fingers in my ears because I was too petrified to reach for the remote to turn it off. It took me another 7 years before I could enter a dark room without reaching around for the light fully expecting to have my arm grabbed or see a Xenomorph standing in the doorway. I also had the opportunity to meet H. R. Giger later in life and was given a personal tour of his museum in Austria which really didn't help but learning his inspirations for his art work and getting to know him was truly an amazing experience
Mother is the ship’s AI-There’s a lot of subtle references to sex, birth, motherhood, and the twisting of all these things in this movie. Well written.

Don’t expect the alien films to be jump scary .. they come from a time when films were scary because of tension … jumpscares just aren’t scary (in this middle aged man’s opinion) the real fear comes from not knowing what’s going to happen and the lingering of the shot and the subtle anticipation of fear built up by good writing and storytelling 😊
I was scared poopless during this movie in 1979. I was 12 at the time so that is understandable. To this day, it is the movie that has scared me more than any other.
I saw this in the theaters when it first came out. Back then we didn't know anything about what we're going to see except what was advertised. And the only advert I saw was an alien egg with a crack in it against the dark background. this is a timeless film. yes, some of the aspects of the "future" it portrayed weren't right, but the film is a gem! A comment about predictable - turn that around. The Alien franchise is one of my faves. I really liked the Prometheus and Alien: Covenant prequel films but Aliens (the sequel to the first film) is a must-see for sure. Hope you watch more of the franchise, and more scary films in general, cause this was a fun reaction!
For you it’s quite predictable as your are seeing it now but for us that saw it on the cinema, when it came out, or at home in our VHS! it was totally new, different, shocking and completely unpredictable!! as there was nothing like it prior! There are so many movies and shows that have copied it after that I feel the new generations do not fully understand the value and importance of this movie. Of course they aren’t shocked if they have seen tons of bad copies of this, but this one is the original, the OG!!!!!! Also, reminder this was all before CGI!! The construction, the artistry, the puppetry, the special effects team was superb and again, there was nothing like it prior. So it was amazing to experience at the time, very scary and thrilling! And finally Ripley… nothing like her prior, she was so impressive for a lot of women and men that saw this movie and she influenced a lot of how we saw women at the time, as a woman she is my all time favorite female lead!

(I had my Uncle sneak me into the cinema when I was a kid.) You didn't disappoint, sweetie. Your eyes went so wide at times, you morphed into Samara Weaving. Ian Holm, RIP "space" Bilbo Baggins was a fantastic actor, and around this time in 1982 played the role of Frodo for the LotR BBC radio series. That's one of the reasons he was cast as Bilbo almost 20 years later.
Yeah, don’t let ‘Doctor WHO’ fool you. He doesn’t really travel through space, traditionally speaking. I mean, he can, the T.A.R.D.I.S. can, but with the aide of time travel he can be anywhere/anytime, in the blink of an eye. This film shows traditional travel through space where it takes so long to go from A to B, it’s better off if you just sleep through the journey.

I'm 53. I saw this on VHS when I was 12. Alone, at night. When it came out in 1979, the idea of something bursting out of a stomach had never been done. This was the first time it had been done in a movie. It caught everyone by suprise. Unforgettable.
Almost similar story though some years later and with friends.. Unforgettable indeed!
Same for me scariest I ever watched.
At first it’s.. “who’s that guy in the blue?” (Ash) “he looks familiar” & then there’s the kinda Freudian connection later “it’s like me after watching LOTR”
What with Ash being Bilbo Baggins n’ all. Nice 👌🏻.
Really enjoyed this reaction to one of my GOAT films. The squeals with ‘Kanes’ son’ was born & then when it took off across the table 😂 chefs kiss stuff 🤌🏻🤌🏻
aliens, the next part, is a must see too. I was twelve when i watched alien in the cinema. My father thought it would be something like star wars and took me with him..... i was never so scared in my life again. Great experience
deffo will!
It's not gonna be crazy-scary; it's just gonna be a couple of jump-scares, I think." 😆
I think this reaction will be a blast. 😁
Alien:
"Nobody listens to the smart girl.
Absolutely entertaining!
awh im so SO glad you enjoyed it 💖
🤣🤣 brilliant reaction especially when the Alien comes out his chest your face was hilarious that's a GIF right there 🤣🤣🤣
The actress playing Lambert (Veronica Cartwright) was the little girl in Alfred Hitchcock'd "the birds". Her sister was in "the sound of music".
Lambert would be the worst 911 operator ever!
@@norwegianblue2017 you might have to pause it and enhance it. It is revealed in the novelization that Ripley and Capt. Dallas casually hookup.
"We stepped out into West Yorkshire there, my guys!"😅
😂 accurate representation
The best description I have ever heard of this movie: Nobody listens to the smart woman. Everybody dies. Except the smart woman... and her cat.
Great reaction to this movie love.
As of Alien Romulus, the facehugger and the stuff in pumps into you to make the chestburster have their own binomial taxonomic nomenclature. The facehugger is called _Manumala Noxhydria,_ "Evil Hand, the Jar of Night", and the stuff it pumps into you as it humps your throat is called _Plagiaris Praepotens,_ "Powerful Mimic".
Hope that helped, love!
LOL - probably not really necessary.
@@tulinfirenze1990 She just hasn't watched Alien Romulus yet, that we know of.
Excelent post, thank you.
thank you! i think bc it was abit dark on screen i just missed the cause but this is so helpful!
@dimetropteryx even in early movie films, you have to be realistic and practical(even on a ship, which is designed exactly it's supposed to be) something falls on side of the corridor you'll hear it panning from where you(you don't know what it is but you know it came from within the haul of the ship) it's dark enough to be dramatic, eerily and unknown(even though it's your ship)
Secondly, people often forget the most practical things in movies, the camera.
Bravo
awh thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :)
I had no idea Emily Blunt had a twin sister! 👀
Amazing likeness. Glad someone mentioned it. She could be a double in her movies.
Yes very much, but also with her own beauty. Gorgeous
Thank you! You nailed it.
I think her niece or younger sister went viral for going off on the price of ice cream with gum in it. lol
Ya caught the accent too did ya.
I'll say this, I've seen this movie 100 times if I've seen it once and that scene still blows me away.
Ash wasn’t working for the Alien. The message to get the alien to earth and that the crew was expendable was for Ash. he is working for the company.
I loved your reaction, when I saw this in the cinema, everyone was like you, saying “ I wouldn’t be there
Well, You didn't see Ridleys DC in 1979!
*goosebumps and anxiety and screaming most of the way through*
"pretty mild actually"
lol great reaction though, very brave
ahahahhah typical tash 🤣
@@Lethgar_Smith Executive Officer is a standard job title in real life navies: they're known as the XO for short:
"United States Navy and United States Coast Guard:
The executive officer is the billet of the officer who is second-in-command. An XO is assigned to all ships, aviation squadrons, and shore units and installations, and is responsible to the captain for all ship's work, drills, exercises, personnel organization, and the policing and inspection of the ship. "
From here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_officer
However I did get it wrong with regard to Alien: on the Nostromo, Kane is the XO.
"Ash, when Dallas and Kane are off the ship, Im senior officer."
Her rank is never given in the script.
@@MrHws5mp Aliens was incorrect in naming her "warrant Officer
It's a continuation of the misunderstanding of her role.
Watching people watch these movies for the first time makes me realise how old I am.
What a great reaction. Can't wait for you to watch the rest. The next one is my favorite. Keep up the great reactions❤
Thank you so much!!
After sitting through a load of reactions it's so good to hear a northern accent instead of another yank, especially with a film like this. You should deffo check the next one, there's a reason Ripley is so well loved, you'll love it, trust me.

@@nataschasummers Keep up the good work Missus
Been a while since I've seen a worthwhile reaction to this movie, genuine and interesting.🙂
Right at the end, that’s a perspective I haven’t heard before: that the mouth within the mouth is a vestige of the original chestburster. Sure, why not.
Great reaction!! was fun for sure. Next time I have a get together, I am going to kick it off by putting this reaction on and have a drink every time we hear "absolutely not" going to be smashed lol Looking forward to your next ~
My favourite movie of all time, a piece of art
Looks like the director's cut, or some special edition with those deleted scenes
The Alien is in the shot after she enters the shuttle and takes a few steps. 58:47
Haven't seen your channel before but loved watching your reaction Love the sound of your voice
Thank you so much 😁
19:11 😄 👍 Amazing movie.
"What's that"?
"a wheel"
"that's bloody dangerous, no good will come of it"!
the start of our journey into the unknown.
"Did you check the back seat?" Hahahaha!
Brett was actually being transformed into an egg, and Dallas was being prepped to be impregnated by the face hugger that comes out of that egg.
Mother is the ship’s AI-There’s a lot of subtle references to sex, birth, motherhood, and the twisting of all these things in this movie. Well written.
I'm so sad that I only just discovered you with this posting! I could have had hours of fun and entertainment. Girl, you keep posting and I'll keep watching and commenting (damn that YT algorithm!). Tom Baker was the best thing about Doctor Who for me. His weirdly alien portrayal and comedic timing are what opened the doors to this fictional universe. And the iconic scarf! Thanks for mentioning the show. The original Alien movie is still the best in its franchise.
I'm pretty sure Tom is why I too, love a good scarf 🤣🥰
Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility. Sounds like a supermodel

Thoroughly enjoyed your reaction. Watching you become so unraveled and traumatized by the end was the cherry on top. Ooohhh i eagerly wait for you to watch the sequel.
so SO glad you enjoyed it lovely 🥰
Don’t expect the alien films to be jump scary .. they come from a time when films were scary because of tension … jumpscares just aren’t scary (in this middle aged man’s opinion) the real fear comes from not knowing what’s going to happen and the lingering of the shot and the subtle anticipation of fear built up by good writing and storytelling 😊
Please next the 2nd part ALIENS!
will do!!
I was blown away I'm a huge sci-fi fan and I consider this first and foremost a science fiction movie and then a thriller horror movie.
Loved your reaction Natasha.

Watch Aliens next and then Alien: Romulus. In my opinion Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, and Alien: Covenant are all dreadful films. Prometheus is a good film but I would watch after Aliens and Romulus. this is a timeless film. yes, some of the aspects of the "future" it portrayed weren't right, but the film is a gem!
A comment about predictable - turn that around. This film was the FIRST of so many things. it seems a bit like its got a pattern that you recognize because it MADE that pattern.

This was obviously not before cgi. 🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂
I was headed off to bed, but...TASH WATCHED ALIEN! Yep. Had to watch her reaction. One of the two most personal and professionally-important movies to my life. (I had my Uncle sneak me into the cinema when I was a kid.)
You didn't disappoint, sweetie. Your eyes went so wide at times, you morphed into Samara Weaving.
I like this more than Aliens, but I think you'll like that one...
Lol @ 12:30.
Very similar to trying to find my cousins house/ farm in the Yorkshire moors 🙃
Ian Holm, RIP "space" Bilbo Baggins was a fantastic actor, and around this time in 1982 played the role of Frodo for the LotR BBC radio series. That's one of the reasons he was cast as Bilbo almost 20 years later.
Yeah, don’t let ‘Doctor WHO’ fool you. He doesn’t really travel through space, traditionally speaking. I mean, he can, the T.A.R.D.I.S. can, but with the aide of time travel he can be anywhere/anytime, in the blink of an eye. This film shows traditional travel through space where it takes so long to go from A to B, it’s better off if you just sleep through the journey.
ahah yeah TARDIS does give the Doctor a massive short cut 🤣💖
So the eye roll IS directly connected to the "absolutely not" lol. Was wondering about that in other videos. Great reaction. Scary assed movie for the time
