I can relate to the 'second hand embarrassment' there are some movies I just can't rewatch because it made me so embarrassed for the character. They are truly painful to watch...totally get it.

For more epic sci-fi I recommend Babylon 5. I think you will like it for all the reasons you like Star Wars and LotR. For a more wild ride you might take a look at Farscape.

Concerning a Hobbit triology... Im so incedibly mixed on these three. IMO its mostly a mountain of shit with the occasional gold-vein, unfortunatly most of what I like is superficial stuff. I love the music I love thar they fleshed-out the dwarven estetics and identity, in LOTR we just met Gimli and the rest was different elves. The concept art to these movies are amazing, and they have our first bearded female-dwarf amongst other gems. I loved the visuals of the Nazgul, eg there are only one of them ever named being Khamul the Easterling and they gave his ghost form the same armor as the easterlings in LOTR. I also love that they got more song in it, song being so important in Tolkiens universe. I loved the performances of our old LOTR cast, was so happy to see Christopher Lee again and you have no idea what joy it is to see Kate Blanchett as the one and ONLY Galadriel.. So, some of the reasons why people (mainly those who read the Hobbit book) hate this triology are.. 1. It feels more like an outdrawn cash-grab rather than a project of love. If I dont remember wrongly, Peter Jackson was pushed to make these and there were almost no prepp-time like LOTR, the production was a disaster. 2. In LOTR they simplified and condenced things, here they drew most out of their asses.. E.g the whole plot with Azog cant happen since he is slayn by a very young Dain at the battle of Moria (the flashback). Tauriel dose not exist. Legolas isnt even in the book. They cant even get their geography right.. They speak of the Witch-King of Angmar being buried in Rhudaur and then shows us a tomb in Dol Guldur, making us think thats what they ment.. Both Angmar and Rhudaur is literally on the other side of Middle-Earth and no its not a big thing for the avrage movie-goer but it show thet dont care about the source-material. 3. It makes Gandalf look like and idiot regarding the one ring. He knows the 9 are with the Nazgul, he knows where the elven rings are, wearing one himself.. that leaves only the dwarven rings left of wich he knows there are now only 6 left. 4. The love-triangle between Tauriel-Kili and Legolas was forced by some suit, not even the actress for Tauriel whanted to do it. 5. Tone. It cant deside weather to be a wimsical Disney movie (like the books, written for Tolkiens children) or a gritty LOTR movie. 6. Too much CGI. Everything looked better in LOTR using mainly make-up and prostetics. There are literally clips of Ian McKellan weeping in a green-screen room having to act with only a green-screen ball. BUT at least it isnt a pure abomination as Rings of Power, where they make Galadriel into a girl-boss-twat trying to bone fucking Satan.. Other than that.. Love your reactions, its always lovely to be here! ^^

Your expectation of more "jumpy stuff" is the problem with modern "scary" movies. It's all about jump scares and startling the viewer with spikes of fear. Startling someone releases stress and fear after the fact and you become desensitized to it after a while. Alien was old school horror... a long slow burn of dread. Ramping up slowly over time with small scenes of fear, but more about tension and stress being built up and up and up without a lot of release. You were test reaction to Alien on RUclips by the way. Your accent and choice of phrases was so genuine and funny.

Another Will Ferrel movie you should watch is Eurovision. That one is also great 😊

If you haven't seen much from Bruce Willis you should check out The Whole Nine Yards, 2000, with Matthew Perry and Rosanna Arquette.

At the beginning when the ship set down on the planet, the surface was pretty rough with rock outcroppings. The stress on the ship's frame (probably a slight twisting because the landing gear weren't level on the surface) caused some alarms and systems to require repair. The movie gives you a slight clue to this by focusing on the landing and one of the gear treads angles sharply in a quick shot before they go interior shot to see everything going haywire.

Hey Natascha! Merry Christmas! Great reaction as always. The novel this movie is based on doesn't have the happy ending. Holly falls out of the window with Hans killing them both and John dies from his injuries on his way to hospital. The happy ending is better.

Die Hard is my favorite Alan Rickman film, but Galaxy Quest is also up there. If you haven't seen that one yet, I do recommend it highly. I loved it despite not knowing much about Star Trek.

Two films with Alan Rickman you might be interested in are GalaxyQuest (a cultural favorite now) and Quigley Down Under. A Christmas movie I want to suggest to you is Jingle All the Way. It stars Ah-nold and gives insight about how crazy Christmas is for people! You kept singing, "jingle all the way, jingle all the way..." So you brought that movie to mind for me.
