Watching your channel made me realize I need to find myself a wife that wheezes in laughter at my silly jokes as well. Lovely couple, lovely videos so far! Keep at it!
Thanks for the explanation of how you redid the mainsheet. It was hard to tell what was going on there in previous videos. I'm not a huge fan of the split mainsheet that Compac uses and I may go this route as well.
Thanks for doing these videos. I've learned something from each of them. You've convinced me to get new sails for my Compac 16 and that fancy rudder too!
Wonderful video Matt. I really appreciate all the tips and tricks you shared. A couple of weeks ago, I commented on one of your earlier posts, and at that time, was on my way to pick up a used Com Pac 16. It turned out to be more of a project than I cared for so we passed on it. In the meantime, my wife became enamored with a Com Pac Sun Cat, a 17’ gaff rigged cat boat with the mast well forward, but otherwise very similar to the Com Pac 16. The cabin is more spacious and more accessible for our old bodies. I’m just beginning to customize our boat and will be borrowing some of your ideas. Kudos to you and your wife for all of the improvements you’ve made. Best regards, Tim
3:50 The way that I cut spectra is to heat up a carbon steel paint scraper over a flame (blow torch, BBQ, whatever). Then use the paint scraper as a hot knife. Works a treat and seals the core and sheath at the same time.
Hmmm, I see that your Com-pac 16 has a little bowsprit. Is that something that you added to the boat? Mine does not have one and the forestay attaches right at the tip of the bow itself. Being able to have the anchor hang out there is really desirable.
Hello from the states, always a pleasure to find CP-16 owners and their mods, sailing. What material did you use for the cabin bow under floor compartments? The sound of you replacing the lids resembled plastic, and thinner, 6mil? Thanks for sharing and from now on I shall always refer to the Head Sail as “Heady” 😂
Our CP16 does not have a centre board or swing keel. All CP16's come with a solid aluminium rudder foil from the factory, however we have purchased a new Rudder Craft NACA designed foil made from a poly material. The rudder (foil) section shown in the picture inserts into the rudder gudgeon/pintle assembly. Watch our previous Episode for a better look at the new blade. Thanks for watching and commenting.
You better have some good life insurance if you think a C16 is ocean worthy! At least get a Compac 19 or 23 before thinking you can live on a tiny boat.
Thanks for the comment. Great conversation starter...tell me why you think the CP16 isn't capable of crossing oceans? Far less capable boats have done so.
Such a good little boat. Highly encouraging that Jo is so enthusiastic regarding the relatively modest accommodation facilities of the pocket cruiser.

Awesome video. Can’t wait to see the videos of the raid to Hobart. Pretty awesome that John Welsford will be with you.
I have my Huon pine clinker registered for the wooden boat festival ❤️ can’t wait
Great news about the boat show with John Welsford! Can't wait to see those videos!
Two people on a 16 ft boat... you must really like each other. :)
Well…she’s 4 feet longer than our other boat… Ep. 17 - SCAMP DINGHY FULL TOUR, TIPS & TRICKS

No problem. Hope it helps. Mid ship main sheet is much more intuitive for me. 👍🏾⚓️

Thanks Tim. I saw your message on the CP16 FB page. I'll make contact there.
Just found your channel and watching from Seabrook, Texas.
Fellow Com-Pac sailor.
Great tip about the rudder. Thanks.
Hey mate...we watch your channel too! Great work! Stay Salty...Mat & Jo

Yep...that will work, however we don't carry those items on our little boat. :-)
Not enough publicity for Mr. Hanky!
❤ my self on tight budget. Would love to sail from South Africa to Britian. 15 000 km. Pocket cruiser.

The bowsprit (and other upgrades) came with the Mk2 version. I suspect you have the Mk1.
Very cool little adventure! The cabin re-design looks amazing. I'd love to know what that little brass lantern is (hanging in the cabin).
thank you. That's an old 'miners lamp'.
Good stuff, Mr hanky woweee you're just the right amount of funny & crazy Conboy! 😂
Thanks Jack. Hope you're well. We'll catch up again soon...
@@SmallCraftTasmania-ms4sx yes Mat soon, slipping boat... "Gin Palace .." atm, maybe next week if you are free.

Hey mate. We used 6mm & 9mm ply for the new fit out. Epoxy coated then painted. Stay Salty!
Youre getting out more than me lately! Nice run, im waiting for things to settle a bit to get out.
Those morning sounds making me homesick
Love your channel ❤️
Love ya videos, love your adventures, love you Aussies! Awesome guys.
Ps. Do you come over for the Lake Rotoiti Wooden Boat festival? I’ve never been but am going to make it next year….
No, but we'd love to. Maybe one day. Thanks for the feedback. Stay Salty! Mat & Jo
Lovely watch!
Mange tak!
I got a ton of good ideas from Burgess’ book.
thanks for the comments mate. Hope you're well over there. Greetings from Tassie!
@ hanging in there as fall/winter begins. So no sailing for a while. Has me on RUclips watching sailing videos like yours. Keep it up
Apparently riggers use ceramic knifes to cut ropes.
That was a poo-fict little video, keep up the good action!
Is that the rudder or your swing keel? I've never seen a solid piece of steel for a rudder.

When we're watching your performance at Constitution Dock, can we yell stuff out at you?
Sure!

You better buy an oil tanker. And use it as your diesel tank. You can move for years that way. And stay away from the coast, please.

Mate you should've got out in the 80 knots, now there some "content"
Indeed, but this was probably her limit... ruclips.net/video/mieXb0Qc0H8/видео.html
