this is how melee kills in Xcom2 should feel, having unique animations for the different aliens you kill, instead of the same old slash from the sword, or ripjack, or the same old punch from the SPARK, only for it to have a delay between the landing of the strike, and the death of the alien, as if they forgot they had to die.
Ah yes. Kinetic strike, both gives your Mec troopers good mobility and an insanely hard hitting (though can be risky) attack even at low levels. Pretty sure I’ve given it to almost every Mec trooper I’ve made. Since never really found the flamethrower to that good outside of the occasional multi-hit situation that a rocket or grenade would have worked in. It’s probably better then I give it credit for, just personal havent had too much luck.
Flamethrower was worth the MEC's weight in gold when dealing with Crysalids, and pretty good in other spots too. The Kinetic Strike was best for dealing with tough heavy hitters who you needed gone right then.
The best part of the flamethrower was the fact it panicked any organic it hit, making them a non threat for at least one turn. Sure you can slap a grenade or rocket on that 5 chrysalids, but a single burst of flame hits em all for 6 and forces them to run away and scatter. It's great for making breathing room for the squad if you got blindsided by something.
I remember a battle where I fought the human terrorists at a gas station, and every single shot my regular soldiers fired missed even when they were right in front of them with no cover blocking the shot, so I used my mech soldier to punch them every time they got close. What if you, wanted to take over Earth, but the Mech Trooper said “Access. Denied.”
Talk about level destruction, EW really hits home just how awesome levolution can be, even in a non-FPS setting
Man said "Watch yo tone"
I see the MEC trooper went to the Doom Slayer's School of Punching Something til it Dies
This felt amazing when it happened the first time.
Also, while it does not have a special animation, watching an ethereal do a double flip after getting punched in the face is awesome too.
I wish X-COM 2 talked about ex mech troopers that you could recruit. Hell they could have been a faction in WoTC
These animations are so nice
Aw yes, KINETIC STRIKE, AKA GIANT ROBAT ROCKET ASSISTED FIST! Truly one of the BEST things to come out of Xcom Enemy within. Plus the special combat animations are Neat.
Vahlen: "So we decided you are going to be our volunteer for this new 'procedure' please lay down on this bed"
XS (Short for Xcom Soldier): "Ummm why do i need to Lay down???"
Vahlen with a chainsaw: "to cut the nasty limbs that might get in the way."
XS: "Tell me the procedure"
Vahlen: "First we will cut the legs then the arms and replace them with prosthetics"
XS: "Ummm and ok why are we doing this IN the alien invasion these prosthetics do not seem to be useful to war they seem to easely break and will i be able to use a gun???"
Vahlen: "Did i mention you'il get an awesome Robot suit with a particle destroyer with either a flamethrower or a punch that destroys anything?"
XS: "Im in"
Alright, im just gonna say it.
*That was fucking awesome.*
this is how melee kills in Xcom2 should feel, having unique animations for the different aliens you kill, instead of the same old slash from the sword, or ripjack, or the same old punch from the SPARK, only for it to have a delay between the landing of the strike, and the death of the alien, as if they forgot they had to die.
And then xcom 2 sparks : incompetent bullet sponges
"Vampire" Arcueid Brunstud
You got good taste my dude :D
The way that Berserker crashed through the wall was so satisfying.
Holy shit, all the hours I put into xcom 2 and I never realized there were specialized melee animations for Mech troopers.
isn't this from the first game?
@@wynngwynnit is
one puuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunch
I miss these so much
I like how they have a special animation.
I always thought the MEC troopers looked like lego bionicels
This is why EW is lowkey the best XCOM. Nothing like yeeting Ethereals with Kinetic Strike.
It's so badass and cool that I keep doing it every chance I get
The MEC: F around, and find out.
Real talk: The moment I got my first MEC was the moment "Normal" stopped being any sort of challenge whatsoever.
That first dude went down like a jenga tower played by someone with parkinsons
I remember a battle where I fought the human terrorists at a gas station, and every single shot my regular soldiers fired missed even when they were right in front of them with no cover blocking the shot, so I used my mech soldier to punch them every time they got close.
I somehow walked away from the battle with only one soldier nearly dying, and several melee kills.
"Wanna throw hands?! Fine! Let's throw hands!"
It’s like something straight out war-hammer 40k
Well he sacrificed everything, the least they can do is make him unstoppable in his mission.
Even his pp😂😂
HEAT OF THE DESERT,
DUST SETTLES ON MY FACE
Nice Tsukihime reference with the name of that Soldier on the roof
Doing a playthrough now. My MEC's Nigerian. Put a french voice on him and made the armor tint light green. OUI COMMANDANT! Just before he kinetic strikes a Muton into next week. Epic. Now I know how Napolean must have felt.
President Regan has a shiny new robot body!
WOAH he didn't miss, thats amazing.
I first saw the animation after I fought a berserker. I was like woah
Op unit is indeed op. Good observation 👍
dude
that's amazing
Well, at least Colonel Walken should have some warning about his comrades being mind controlled this time.
It's cool they add a little wrestling animation to the enemies, just to add the sense of domination.
I try to farm psychic meld operatives, and everyone who doesn't make the cut becomes a MEC Trooper.
The aliens need to understand, the psychics aren't there to protect the world from them, they are there to protect THEM from my MEC Troopers...
I feel a better example is when you have one with reaction fire and a railgun and it takes out a small army.
Fact: punching aliens in the face with a rocket powered fist is ludicrously fun.
"Brunstud:Vampire"
I understood that reference
JUST comes in like : YO dude how are u
the alien: FUCK OFF
the mec : and I took that personaly
MECs (alongside other robots and asaults) were always the most fun part of the game. They went away too much from that in XCOM 2
Mech units are literally op . They are better then anything. And are cool af . They got me so hyped when the expansion came out that I waited every single day for it to hit my shelf.
It's nice how the enemy just stands there and lets you completely destroy them.
I saw an exalt member walk up to my MEC trooper and... He reloaded his weapon. He... Got punched into oblivion but damn he really had some balls
@@regretfulpixel7737 dude I can't stop laughing
These animations are cool i dont see alot of these in xcom2 or chimera squad
'Welcome to earth' - Will smith
Thank you for enlisting in the Cinco MEC program! First, your teeth are removed-
It kills me that the flamethrower is just so much better.
There should have been a special animation for punching out Chrysalids.
I wish meld and the MEC trooper/solid snake project was carried over into xcom 2. Something about the idea of punching the assassin chosen in the face with a MEC is satisfying.
Brunstud the Vampire approves.
*Hands up and slowly backs away*
