      Not just your arms, your legs as well. It always seem a bit strange to me considering Vahlen was the crazy mad scientist that Shen is the one that designed a robot that meant you needed to lose your arms and legs to interface with it. He did at least make them bionic replacements for when not in the Mech I guess.

      At least half of the first XCOM game NEVER HAPPENED. You, a human commander, initially did well against the aliens, but then the base invasion mission happened, and the entire point of it was to not only destroy XCOM HQ, but to capture your character, which they succeeded in doing. Everything after that (from the Commander's perspective), is an elaborate simulation created by the aliens to make the Commander control ADVENT forces against the human resistance.
      X-COM never got passed even the basic alien weapons, nor did they reach PSI level. (Only basic research, like autopsies) In the sequel we find that XCOM never got CLOSE to making cybernetics like that...but ADVENT does possess MEC walkers based on prototypes stolen from the late Dr. Shen...

      yes and no at the same-tim imo,
      Xcom-1 had a lot less content, so it could put more efforts on details and balancing in it.
      Xcom-2 already had more content with just the base-game, then you add WotC and Shen-Gift on top of it,
      so the game had a lot more content but couldn't be as polished obviously, personnally i love both
      i love somes details and things from Xcom-1, but Xcom-2 is generally better on almost everything
      it's kinda like the "Dark-Soul 1 VERSUS Dark-Soul 3" and "Doom 2016 VERSUS Doom-Eternal" debates,

      I just wish we had an increased scale. Why do We only send one transport to deal with the Alien threat. It doesn’t feel right. You should be able to send as many as you have access to and have transports that actually carry a decent amount of troops.
      Not the only issue. XCOM has access to one base and a few fighter why? Again it’s a global invasion it would be good to have dozens of fighters or more per continent.
      And bases they are just underwhelming no true customisation no way to establish a proper defence

      @@rhyssmith4218 I usually felt like the conceit was that you weren't the only fighting force. You were just the elite one. Each of the countries and council members had their own armies as well. They just weren't as good at combatting the invaders as you. They also had to balance fighting the invaders with maintaining an increasingly panicked populace, whereas XCOM was an entity focused entirely on the former. That having been said. I'm not deluded. The main reason for it was just a gameplay mechanic. xP It would have aided in the suspension of disbelief if you could... I dunno, add a chance of a country reducing panic on its own, by fighting the invaders on their own via some additional mechanic. Like... maybe sacrificing one of your leveled veterans to go work for a council nation permanently instead. Letting them foster their own native fighting force independent of you.

    There was also a kill animation on Sectepods too, although it would hurt the MEC trooper in doing so, so I doubt many people would've seen it.

  • @ShawndaPrawn

    I only just noticed this in the Xbox version, but the MEC trooper doesn’t just punch the Mechtoid. They hold onto the Sectoid’s head even after punching the mech, effectively ripping the Sectoid pilot out of the mech! You can even see it on the animation with the MEC trooper throwing something at the ground after the punch!

    this is how melee kills in Xcom2 should feel, having unique animations for the different aliens you kill, instead of the same old slash from the sword, or ripjack, or the same old punch from the SPARK, only for it to have a delay between the landing of the strike, and the death of the alien, as if they forgot they had to die.

    Ah yes. Kinetic strike, both gives your Mec troopers good mobility and an insanely hard hitting (though can be risky) attack even at low levels.
    Pretty sure I’ve given it to almost every Mec trooper I’ve made. Since never really found the flamethrower to that good outside of the occasional multi-hit situation that a rocket or grenade would have worked in.
    It’s probably better then I give it credit for, just personal havent had too much luck.

    • @WarhawkTalon
      @WarhawkTalon 2 года назад +1

      Flamethrower was worth the MEC's weight in gold when dealing with Crysalids, and pretty good in other spots too. The Kinetic Strike was best for dealing with tough heavy hitters who you needed gone right then.

    • @DivineCerinian
      @DivineCerinian 2 года назад +4

      The best part of the flamethrower was the fact it panicked any organic it hit, making them a non threat for at least one turn. Sure you can slap a grenade or rocket on that 5 chrysalids, but a single burst of flame hits em all for 6 and forces them to run away and scatter. It's great for making breathing room for the squad if you got blindsided by something.
