So when this game came out, I was upset that the mood from the previous two games was all but gone. It wasnt nearly as moody or dreadful as either of the previous games. But over time, I think I understand and accept why everything feels much more upbeat and hopeful. Its because for the first time, we are seeing an XCOM that isnt in an active war. They're peacekeepers, and its a lot easier to make friends and small talk when the entire world isnt on your shoulders.
Torque has some striking resemblance with Loona from Helluva Boss. City 31 is reminding me of half life 2, which for those who don't know, takes place in a city 13. It begs the question, who would win? A combine invasion force, or the xcom aliens? what the combine lack in psionics they make up for in sheer numbers and technological advancement. But the aliens have even more advanced technology. It's an interesting concept
Also I think the combine would probably decimate the xcom aliens. I mean they basically drove an entire species to near extinction which is the nihlanths race which are literal gods, and probably a lot more things. Also pretty certain the advisors have psionic powers or telekinesis
The voices sound as if they wanted to make a comic based animation rather than an XCOM game, filled with comedy more than what the series has been known for. The rogue advent troopers (I cannot recall their names, it's been years since I last successfully played) voice sounds too different from the ones introduced from XCOM 2: War of THe Chosen. The Psi guy acts like how I would expect one of their kind to really, voice is off though compared to their screeching. The Mutons carried a way deeper voice tone, similar to krogans. The Vipers I'm not too sure on though, most expect a hissed lisp with every S-word, but that can be overcome with time in any race; I really have nothing for them. Humans are just that, Humans.

Especially the little flirty / respectful chats between Terminal and Patchwork. I get the feeling Terminal likes Patchwork, but it's taking some time for her to get Patchwork to open up.
I personally like Verge's talk about food with Claymore and Cherub.
Is it me or Axiom sounds like agent 47?
I was expecting to hear some polish accent from Torque, heh.
For being a roided out gentically modified human to fit the advent supersoldier program......zephyr lookin' kinda thicc though.
I will admit I stare at the back of her tight pants when I order her to punch out an enemy.
I have to say, Torque's voice is... not what I imagined coming out of a giant albino cobra monster. I mean none of them are, but she just sounds like the sarcastic female lead of an office work sit-com.
“City 31”?
*Welcome! Welcome to City 31! You have chosen, or been chosen, to relocate to one of our finest remaining urban centers. I thought so much of City 31 that I elected to establish my administration here, in the Citadel so thoughtfully provided by our benefactors. I've been proud to call City 31 my home. And so, whether you are here to stay, or passing through on your way to parts unknown - welcome to City 31. It's safer here.*
Verge's voice actor sounds like the actor for Liu Kang in MK11. I just checked imbd, it IS Liu Kang's voice actor!
And Torque is Cassie Cage.
Is torques voice the same as Mordred from fate or Ellie from the last of us I can't tell
Same voice actress as Mordred
...Even in this ultra-modern world Mordred can't catch a break, didn't she.
It's Futaba from P5/P5R.
@@andrewaddison777 _...Really_ cannot catch a break. 😑😑😑
She also voiced Loona from Helluva Boss, the RUclips animation.
well, the german localization team at least got axiom's voice better, there's a guttural growl to it that is just non negotiable.
Some of the voices definitely don't fit the aliens. It's kinda weird how they have a big muton who destroyed someone's items just for being in his way and yet his voice doesn't fit that at all
Gotta say I love the banter between the agents I know people hate it because it isn't randomly generated agents with perma death, but I love the characters in this game alone
zephyr's intro had me cackling like a fucking hyena just from her line delivery
Torque is a hottie alright. Deffo a little tsundere.
The way whisper and torque interact it sounds like they may have a romantic history that didn't end well
Bruh i wonder how bradford would react to this snake date crap after fighting for 20 years of life agianst the aliens and seeing people wanting to get freaky with vipers.
Probably just happy he still has a planet to call home. Might even be nice for him to see the races that he knows were mostly either mind-controlled or lacking in free will actually being able to integrate with humanity rather than just being murder machines.
joshyGreen mouse720 I think he would die inside
Torque sounds like English USA female soldier 10 in XCOM 2...I know it because my favourite sniper having this voice
If I could bottle up your optimism, I could make a lot of money, Cherub.
THe normal voices for the brute and the snek are off putting.
I didnt met torque for half a second
And she is my favorite
Terminal and Verge did not disappoint.
And Godmother takes the take.
so what's the deal between torque and whisper?
Wait, this is real?
Oh my god, I thought this was a game mod
That is awesome. Finally
Comments in a nutshell
50% talking about the viper chick (understandable)
40% talking about the voices of the aliens be odd or disappointing
10% other
Those aliens picked up the local accent pretty quick
I feel like torque would take the mr torque from borderlands but instead of punching so hard they explode she squeezes
Is Godmother's VA Sadie from Halo ODST?
Cherub is just too nice for this galaxy.
Did they get the Tony Hawk Underground dialogue team on this game somehow? The vibe shift between this and XCom 2 is insane.
Feels more of a up spirited teen drama rather than a project to reintegrate the now stranded and disconnected xeno’s.
Could be a chance to see into their world, maybe have torque describe Viper culture and hierarchy, since the aliens from xcom 1&2 were manipulated by the ethereal into being their puppets.
This is definitely meant to be a lot more light hearted and less grim dark.
I'm just happy to be here :D
It kind of feels like most of the aliens were humans at one point, but they went "Wait wouldn't it be COOL if they joined our team??" And did the bare minimum to change it
we all know that we came for Torque....
or just me..
I see you saved the best for last
So when this game came out, I was upset that the mood from the previous two games was all but gone.
Both are mean, sarcastic, a bit aggressive, somewhat insecure (at least, if I remember some of Torque's dialogues with other squad members), both are sexualized beyond belief by their respective fandoms...
And yes, they both are voiced by Erica Lindbeck, lol
- Torque.
- Whisper.
- -Shepard.-
- -Wrex.-
- -I should go.-
- Are we good?
- I don't know. Did you get a lobotomy?
Off to a good start, I see.
PS. _"Quotes? Sure, Whisper. Can you quote this gesture? How about two?"_
Idk why this was recommended to me but thanks
I like claymore he's all about food
I like food
They seem to all have different personalities, sweet ^_^
So they have a huge strong dude with anger issue in enclosed, tight environment. What could go wrong
Reminds me of how my UFO game series died. Each new game became more like a cartoon in style.
god dam i love the chimera squad operatives
Most replayed part of the video is Torque. 💀💀💀
Late comment but hl2 is in city 17.
Also I think the combine would probably decimate the xcom aliens. I mean they basically drove an entire species to near extinction which is the nihlanths race which are literal gods, and probably a lot more things. Also pretty certain the advisors have psionic powers or telekinesis
I recognise torque's voice from a mile... is the same voice as Loona from helluva boss
Erica Lindbeck
Humans are just that, Humans.
the dialogue in this game isn't rare enough to archive
that said, I'd appreciate if when you're done you'll do "best of"
sometimes I imagine that Verge voiced by certain Salarian doctor would be nice but it's fine anyway
