XCOM 2 War Of The Chosen: one ridiculous turn

- The XCOM 2 expansion is ridiculous, in a good way. Here's an example of how crazy even a single turn can be in XCOM W War of the Chosen.
More details here: www.rockpapers...
Amazing what some words of encouragement and a ton lot of drugs can do
T Jex. Haha
"We crushed up some berserkers to inject straight into your bloodstream and through the power of friendship you should be a lot faster."
I can only imagine that this must of looked like some anime-level stuff from advent's point of view.
One guy charges silently into the base, dressed in robes made from a giant snake. No one can believe there would be a X-com soldier so bold. They surround him anyway, all guns trained on his position. There's a pause...He stops for one second...
Suddenly; he's slaughtering everything in sight with gun and blade.
he also had implacable so he wouldnt have taken damage from the archon anyways bucause that was the first one whou chose to go after him
Implacable gives him a free move, untouchable I think is the one you are thinking of.
You're absolutely right.
*teleports behind you*
Nothing personnel...kid.
meanwhile the lost are like "...hey... why is our food moving so fast... I can't eat that... no faaaaiiiir..."
"I'm not surrounded, THIS IS JUST A TARGET-RICH ENVIRONMENT"
A positive variant of "that's XCOM baby"
That's bullshit baby!
Edward Geeves misses shot from target 1 space away
THATS XCOM BABY
The Advent got a taste
That's bullshit, where was the 100% miss?
Here is one of the dumbest encounters I’ve ever had:
-My squad is surrounding a sectoid and 2 advent priests slav squatting next to a car like the gopniks they are
-The priest at the back buffs the priest in the middle, the priest in the middle buffs the sectoid in front and the sectoid mind controls my gunner. They have literally made a conga line of buffing.
-My squad takes turns at consecutively missing 80%-90% shots on the sectoid
-The sectoid gets a crit on my ranger, instant death. One priest miraculously misses, the other casts stasis on my specialist. My mind controlled gunner takes a pot shot at my sharpshooter, he misses but he accidentally heavily damages the car adjacent to the alien conga line.
-It’s finally my turn again. I’ve basically accepted my fate as my specialist lost their turn to stasis so only my sharpshooter is left, I aim for the priest at the back of the conga line and it hits, but it’s not enough.
-The sectoid and priests finish off my specialist and my mind controlled gunner does what he normally does, he misses but damages the car again.
-Then as the alien turn ends, the car explodes which kills the priest at the back of the conga line and sets off a chain reaction. The priest buffing the sectoid was being buffed by the priest in the back so he dies and since that priest was buffing the sectoid, the sectoid dies as well.
*RNGesus giveth, RNGesus taketh away*
Why Are You Reading This that’s XCOM baby
F
Imagine the gunner’s confusion after waking up from the mind control being the only one alive
Ha-Mon, starter, TESTIFY
.
XD
The most remarkable part of this is someone actually used overdrive serum
The single use items I usually ignore. After seeing this video I am now having second thoughts.
@@joezilla29 Of the single-use items Overdrive Serum is far and away the best, and the buffs make it legitimately useful in a clutch.
It would be nice if the OS wasn't removed from your inventory after use, but it was costlier to make.
@@HalNordmann Oh gods, it's a single use item? It doesn't work like medkits? That sucks. I just started playing. I'll make sure to keep that in mind if I start using OS.
@@NoodleKeeper honestly the single use items can be pretty game changing and you don't have to worry really because if you can make it, that means you'll be getting the resources to make more. I can't tell you how many times Overdrive or the Refraction field have turned the tide of a battle in my favor.
XCOM should put in a Superhot like feature of replaying the battle in real time. Imagine how this would look
Y E S
The Badass Bassist Excellent idea
i think they have a feature like that in some dev command somewhere. I remember the trailers for the game having something similar
+tetsuya no yoroi Would be amazing to rewatch in real time.
The Badass Bassist answer you will lose a lot but hit a lot of shots
And I'm just sitting here trying to find the best sweater mod for Central.
A pretty good one came out recently.
*when you send multiple support characters with your overleveled glass cannon*
András Fogarasi rangers are quite tanky though
*16 hp 5 armor*
"glass cannon"
@@dud5606 maybe it was armoured glass?

The power curve in XCOM has always been inverted, your rookie squads are meat on a good day in the first three months, but six months later the aliens can't even get a shot off.
BTW that 'tactical analysis' thing is a faction power, it cuts the actions of exposed enemies by one if you reveal them in your turn. It's broken and easily the best power in the game.
Maybe "Long war" could fit your request?
@Charmiskit long war 2 is exactly what you want.
Fully agree, starter!
That saved me so many times in my first run .. until AVENGER DEFENSE
Honestly I love this. I know strategy game fans tend to be obsessed with balance, mostly thanks to the [ugh] multiplayer scene.
But when a strategy game just throws caution to the wind and introduces an overpowered element to the game? To allow the player to do something ridiculously powerful? It's fun! And sure, obviously the game shouldn't spoonfeed you that power from the start. But XCOM War of the Chosen made me feel genuinely rewarded for killing the Chosen. Now I have a soldier with a katana that pierces armor and never misses and a powered suit with a jetpack, who can easily murder an entire pod of aliens in one turn by themselves. It's a unique cathartic feeling that you don't usually find in modern RPGs and Strategy games.
For so long, you fear the alien.
Now, you're the reason that they can't sleep at night, because you might be there...
Watching...
Waiting.
I find myself agreeing
If that wasn't a Leroy, I don't know what is
Leo Durocher its LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ROOOOOOOOOOOY JEEEEEENKIIIIIIIIINSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! Not leroy
technically its "Leeroy", double E. But I get your points :)
can't be a leroy move it actually worked.
up there with john cena, leeroy is
the point of a leeroy is that doesn't work so... nope-
XCOM is always such an amazing journey, at the endgame your squad are living gods melting through alien hordes like the red right hand of death, and you think back to those early missions when they had a 45% chance to hit an Advent soldier who was three inches from their face.
welcome to xcom2!
You can either:
A) die instantly because of RNG
B) use a single soldier to murder half the enemy team!
C) die instantly because of RNG
*SO TRUE*
$5 well spent! (eShop sale is my religion).
XD
I'm glad they found a way to make the already insanely overpowered Rangers even more overpowered...
Although, i also found the sharpshooter to be amazingly powerful now. Give them the Hunters rifle, Icarus armor and bluescreen rounds, jump them to a roof right in the middle of a group of enemies and watch the show unfold! With some careful planning, i have had my sharpshooter take like 6-10 killshots against regular Advent in one turn, as the rifle gets free reloads, only needs one action to fire, AND the sharpshooter gets the benefit of Death from above!
When they said the Chosen weapons were powerful, they weren't kidding...
That was great to watch! And I enjoyed your gentle narrative too! Good work!
I was waiting for the templar to activate Reaper and go full-scale apeshit.
honestly though. a templar reaper with a ranger reaper just shreds everything. one well-placed snarpshooter with faceoff and now that everything has
11:44 *sees "Amy Lee killed"* HOOOOOW CAN YOU SEEEEE INTO MY EEEYES LIKE OPEN DOOOOORS
If this was in real life, his movement speed would be inhuman.
That's actually Quiet disguised in the Viper suit.
Avit Kori yeah but she doesn't use a shotgun or sword
There's no denying that this game is fun as hell. But I find a lot of the systems and mechanics to be extremely cheesy. It feels more like a game than believable sci fi world. This video is a perfect demonstration of how silly it gets.
I glanced at this and thought... ehh... clickbait maybe. After watching the first 50 seconds and was not disappointed at all. I'm trying this now :D
with a psi operative with stasis and inspire this becomes more op
stasis = no punishment for your madness + inspire = 1 more action
And I'm continuously missing 97% shots... I love this game!!!
Tac analysis is a continental bonus that deprives the aliens of an action point if their activated on XCOM's turn
Commander Critic also a resistance order
Tactical analysis is a resistance order that gives them only one action
sharpshooter with face-off and between the eyes order. yeet
nah. bladestorm with between the eyes means you can just leave a ranger entirely unprotected in the middle of a horde of lost and they'll break on her sword like water on rock
you gotta give him the berserker queen armor. extra move distance and a free melee attack
this guy is playing 3d chess while we’re playing checkers
Your voice is surprisingly soothing, and I approve
so that was basically the turn based equivalent of "Ninja anime guy cut everything in half at the speed of light"
You gotta turn your audio up!
I like how they call the squad "menace one five" = M15... Or Miss.
The squad is Menace 1, Menace 1-5 refers to the squad leader. Menace 1-6 would be the commander, and Menace 1-7 would be Central.
Reminds me of the Eversor assassins from Warhammer 40k.
Last mission I had my Templar on reaper and used rend with a Shockwave that killed 4 ppl allowing me to run him to the back of the map in one move. His mobility was 20 cause I sent him only on mobility increasing covert actions
lol if this was in real time he would be moving at the speed of sound or smth, flashing all around the map and slashing aliens down
*teleports behind you*
Just realised how bloody difficult this game is. ^^
You could also use inspires on him to break the combo even more ridiculus point. (At most 3 use since skirmisher, bondmate and the main dish already clamps 3 slots)
Positively Rabbid, I'd say...
Demiath I see what you did there...
Full Throttle on Skirmishers grants +2 mobility per kill on your turn. "Your turn" includes bladestorm kills during the Lost/Aliens turn. Throw on a Speed PCS, a few covert ops that give +1 Mobility, Combat Serum, and you can cross the entire map on a blue move.
The funny thing? I discovered this by accident on a Lost Supply crate mission.
wait what the fuck. any video recording?
wut? it works, what the hell, that's one long ass move, you turned my stoorm troopers on olimpic runners.
I really wanna see this as narrated by Videogamedunkey....
Phoenixon If only Dunkey didn't dislike turn based games.
Have done something similar several times, cause both my sniper and my ranger have the death from above perk, which means every kill grants a free shot, and if that shot kills, another free shot. Chosen sniper only requires one action and can be fired as this free shot. Free movement on high ground is granted by snake and archon suit, and the rest of the team only have to provide shred and rupture, and supply action points.
death from above reduces shot action cost to be 1 and non-turn ending it shouldn't be giving any free actions.
That's where you are wrong. Yes on paper it says "only cost one action and does not end your turn", but in reality it is achieved by refunding 1 action point after the kill shot, same way as implacable or momentum. Try it with the chosen sniper or find another class who gets the ability from training center, you'll be surprised.
Damn that was cool. Thanks for posting and its perfect to me!
I don't blame the Hunter for not showing up for this one. He probably looked at this situation and decided he didn't want to deal with this today.
Or: ADVENT's very bad no good day
That was absolutely incredible.
Not sure if this works but if you run and gun shoot/slash on the turret before giving him the second advanced teamwork, you could have killed it with a second slash and keep reapering.
Is that right?
The gatekeeper killing the civilians as a sacrifice for his zombies messed me up emotionally man
I've done a few missions myself in a single turn. It takes a lot of thinking, planning and using sleek combination of skills but it's very possible.
omae wa mou shinderu
Nani?!
What a great first turn
try a sniper with dfo and the high ground. damage everything a little then just slaughter everything in one turn
Where did ur ranger get 6 points of armour from?
I’d like to see how you built that Ranger
I made a gunslinger on one campaign. Took him on every Lost mission possible. One mission and in one move he killed over 20 lost with Faceoff.
What is the mod that skips the animation of each enemy pack when you encounter it for the first time in the mission?
My question is what difficulty is this? Before WOTC I played on legendary difficulty but now with WOTC I struggle on commander.
the struggle will end once you start taking out the chosen, also if u get "between the eyes" the lost are a joke.
Chosen weapons are great, (specifically hunter weapons and katana) they can be abused with their gimmicks.
I thought reaper made damage decrease with each attack
This was incredibly cool!
That was nucking futz.......
Tactical analysis is a continent bonus
Bandit took the Overwatch shot because of threat assessment from specialist. Not his own ability.
What about a The teamwork thing and Psionics inspire?
The real question is how did you get that many armor bonus on the Serpent?
Funky173 Combat Serum
the lost make it a looot easier to rake up multikills tbh. with the arashi and a good shot you can pretty much have a 10+ lost killed on one round and one guy, provided there's no "superheavy" lost and they are all in range.
works with pistolero build snipers too. saving the sniper for the enemies that have 9+hp, mopping the rest with the chosen pistol (which is EPIC)
i had a battle against 34 lost over that very map for intel, these things fall to overwatch and rangers like flies. it was over in 5-6 rounds.
I once had Lost and Advent... was out numbered, resources were thin, just started dropping bombs on the stairways and the doors to isolate my squad up there and just continue to drop the rest of the bombs on Advent below, after that took cover and waited for Advent and Lost to wipe each other out... one Muton was left and surrounded by 6 total box rows of Lost, he was doing his best.
your voice is so fucking soothing
this was positively awesome!
Nicely done.
How did you get 5 armor points?!
He use an overdrive serum a the start of the video.
Good show you should make a build guide.
I expected 95% misses. pleasantly suprised
If you whispered any quieter, it would create a vacuum.
that was impressive
One time. Killed about 10 guys with the sniper’s surreal skill and the rest of the team just weakening them
funny for how this game is praised for tactical realism and strategy when there are pretty ridiculous powergaming options like this one .....
Outlandish!
y'know...
i'm watching this...
thinking of that one time i missed a 95% shot from in front of an alien...
the shooter died the next turn, just fyi.
this looks cool but still u risk massive dmg on your guys, I personally prefere puting reaper first deep in to map so I can position my soldiers correcty and try to take all enemies in one turn. Also i like to keep lost alive if they arent any threat to me, its nice decoy cos sometimes advent will attack them rather then me. cheers
friendship power
I would like to watch the rest....
you named your specialist adam smith? an economist, i see.
slack notifications?
looks like someone should have being working hehe
now the network
mate thats not the craziest thing you can do! Thanks to covert mission i made my reaper have 60 points of movement, and my other guy has 50hp without armor. this is crazy
Adam Romanowicz A couple of stats vs something that actually happens in a mission? I wonder which takes the cake.
Lunarixis covert ops are really broken though. They can boost aim hp movement speed DODGE will to the infinity. Think about it, one guy can move whole map in one action.
Coşkun Akalın I'd rather take something actively happening in game than having a stupid high stat. Maybe that's just me.
Lunarixis stats made my avatar become abyssmal one among my last fight squad. And it is not passive, pretty much active improvement.
Coşkun Akalın That doesn't change my point, stats are just a number, I'd rather take something happening than something getting high stats
The RNG is strong with this one.
es una partida creada... porque a mi no me sale una partida tan facil.
fucking glorious
When you recruited an anime shonen character
Why is there Devil May Cry in my XCOM game?
Actually, nevermind. That makes it even better.
Tactical analysis is from a region bonus
Good content but what really turned me off was the low volume of your voice. I had to turn the volume on my headset all the way up just to be able to make out what you were saying. Try to maintain a good balance between all the factors which make any video a good video.
Hi. This wasn't a regular member of the video team. Our more recent stuff is louder.
sound. its too low
Annnnnnnnd this is why i stick to recruit difficulty and struggle on medium.
Nice combo. Nicely narrated too.
Amy Lee was killed! Nooo
You can bondmate 1 guy for whole team? You sure about that? Before somekind of update?
wow.
From where you have that much armor
effect of the combat serum he took at the start of the turn - not OP at all ;)
well, still you gotta love a big truck with an insane movility, by the way i never tried but what is the skill cap on a soldier?
German Bonivento in wotc all soldiers can have all of their abilities if you can afford their costs. B R O K E N i dare say
Nice.
Now do it on Legend difficulty lmao
What the actual fuck xD
