XCOM 2 - Lone Wolf Alien Facility

- Hey there :)
I don't usually publish videos of my games (although I do record some of them) but I wanted to share this one. I had the crazy idea of using the Wraith Suit to solo one of the "Complete objective and extract" missions. Failed a bit with the stealth part, but I ended up giving some really cool moments of guns blazing and dodging bullets :D
Also, I'm aware I could've finished a couple turns earlier but I distracted myself and didn't realize that planting the bomb WOULDN'T use my last action. The moment I realized it I had ran for cover already. It's ok, though, the mission was more epic that way :D

The aliens did a better job of wrecking their facility than the X4
At this rate all Xcom has to do is send in troopers who just keep running around the facility while plasma fire burns the building and then evacuate

once upon a time i went from the hardest difficulty to the lowest. i played a few rounds, had it incredibly easy. turned up back up to max after getting bored, lost all my skill. had to savescum like a mofo till i managed to get used to it again

The most confusing aspect is how on earth 3 of them died.

I know how two of them may have died, but not the sectopod (think I spelled that right). I believe I heard the pod begin to open fire on his laser and just f*cked over his own guys instead
It was the sectopod. It did one of those charged laser things where it had to wait a turn to shoot a blast of laser through anything in the area it targeted in the turn before.

I tried this once. They got mind controlled.
You did tryed it on legendary. And on this video we can see that it is not a legendary. Look at the HP of aliens. It is not the ironman ether.

They should really have an alternative win condition where the damage done by the fighting just makes the structure collapse.
The soldier just waited outside while the aliens turned on each other: WHERE IS THE HUMAN, IS THIS HER? NO THATS BOB, SORRY BOB!

Because I actually care about this character I've created and how he's portrayed? I assure you the character is much more than just a profile picture... All in all I have a collective of art, stories and other such for over a thousand bucks put into this guy.
The problem was not that he is using it, it's that he didn't even bother to ask first, art theft whether knowingly or unknowingly is considered a pretty big deal in just about every "fandom" that creates content.
Is wearing a hyper-advanced suit of armor.

Had a laugh watching those advent wreck their own facility.
Completely miss their mark, and end up destroying the facility themselves.

haha dude you realize you could have completed the mission at minute 6:56? you just needed to plant and get out. It was fun to watch tho.
I was thinking that too. "Wait if you have the ability to go incorporeal for one and a half turns, why didn't you just sprint into the facility then sprint out before you were spotted?"

You don't need explosives to destroy the alien facility, just run around for a while and they will turn it into ashes for you. ps, Awesome! Better then the Tom Cruise movies!

Awesome one, but can someone explain me how the hell half of them died at 11:00? Sectopod's beam?
Rothank I think the sectopod walked through something explosive and the explosion killed them
That was the Gatekeeper's Gateway ability. You can hear the psi-zombies it kills being raised. But no clue as to why it used that ability, as it usually targets at least one XCOM unit, even if it hits some of theirs.
I think the Gatekeeper used that after the fact, they target corpses with it just to make zombies sometimes.
Sectopod either walked through something explosives, but more likely, becouse he set the Wraith cannon (more likely, becouse the sectopod was lifted up, and thats main reason, why they do that), while the soldier was behind the wall at 9:20 and some advent troopers just ran into it
@@Lilothyn He used that later, after that sectopod incident, becouse there were some dead bodies (probably kiled by sectopod) and he wanted to reanimate those
if you could just "move -> plant -> move -> evac", then why didn't you just do that from the beginning when you first got spotted?
They said in the pinned comment that they just forgot that planting X4 was a free action.

By the Commander, the second you were spotted it just became so comical it might as well have been a cartoon episode.

Damn you make me want to play this game again. Last time I did, I unknowingly downloaded the alien hunters DLC so those rulers, combined with shittily organizing the rebels and my time/resources, allowed for me to get obliterated and my squad
Xoccyle enable the quests that come along with the dlc. if you do, the leaders only appear after you do the first 2 dlc story-related scans, after the first actual mission under the dlc storyline

This is cool, I never thought to do a lone wolf mission. It'd be cool to do this with a reaper.
i did do this with a reaper planted and left the same turn they had no idea i was there untill i planted it
With a reaper one or two turns will be more than enough, i tried it once and it worked flawlessly
Impressive! I usually just send a single Reaper in there, stealth my way to the objective, put up the X4 and extract immediately without anyone ever shooting anything.

Having played this quite a few times now, I can safely say that Sharpshooter is one of three classes I would consider running solo in end-game content. Four if you allow S.P.A.R.K.s.
What would be your other 2? I'm assuming one of the Ranger trees is one of them?
@@toomanylies7716 Sharpshooter, Ranger, Psi Op, and S.P.A.R.K. Of course any of the human operatives would get Chosen gear and Alien Queen/W.A.R. armor as needed.

Is the music during the first bit when you were still in stealth standard, modded or edited in afterwards? I've played with Xcoms music off for a while now.

I mean, not to back seat game but you had that mission at minute 7:11. Planting the X4 charges is a free action, call the Skyranger, and bounce. Like, we saw you trying to go back, you realized it too 😉😉😉
in war of the chosen you can get certain spec obs missions that can increase dodge, so far i dont see a cap of these missions, add a vipersuit/wraith suit and your good to go

What's more impressive is that he did this before Reaper was a thing.
Personally, I like using a Spark with Overdrive so I can run through the wall, place the X4 and evac my squad in the same turn.
Just imagine preparing for a full on onslaught, then having a glorified toaster Kool-Aid-Man through the wall, place an explosive in your hand, then just run back out and fly into the sky.

can't confirm, but I have a strong suspicion the stealth could have worked, had you used the wraith suit's ability when you were cornered by that rooftop patrol. moving out of cover was revealing you, but moving through the wall should have worked out. Great vid, naturally
3:08 Just being a bit nitpicky, but there shouldn't be a cactus in the middle of the Australian outback. Cacti are only found in the Americas, deserts like the Mojave and the Kalahari.

They're invasive. Like I said, cacti are New World plants, only found naturally in the deserts of the Americas.

Did the Sectopod use its charged attack and hit allies or something? Lol. I know that like if Gatekeepers can't find anyone to kill they will attack and zombify civilians, but idk about their own units.
