Hi Paul I appreciate anyone who does their best to make things from wood. I like your design. I encourage you to watch a few videos by Paul Sellers. He's a master woodworker living in England and does many projects using only hand tools. Some of the processes you did with machinery might have been done more easily with hand tools. And, there is a peace that accompanies that kind of work. Only a suggestion. I was a power tool user most of my life. Last winter, at 69 years, I began using hand tools - saws, chisels, hand planes. I'm no expert but I no longer need a dust mask, a source of electricity, nor a dust collection system. I'm getting better with every project. I wish you well with your projects and those who get to enjoy your work at a practical level. Whether by hand or power tools, putting ourselves into our projects is a special thing. Blessings to you and yours.
Nice design. I will say however, the dowels are overkill. You did not need them - the wood glue is all that is needed to securely 'build up' the bench top.
How is the depth of a 2x4 "about 1.5 inches"... the 2x4 refers to the size of the wood... 2 inches by 4 inches? Sorry, not trying to nitpick, trying to workout what happened there, I'm about to do a similar build, it looks great.

Mr. Ziggy thanks! Yeah always learning and improving
this is nice but not what most people think when one says DIY
You didn’t show how you framed the bottom
My works too. Used woodprix handbooks and build it with no problems.

Paul Pichugin it’s “2x4” pre-processed. Actual size is about 1.5x3.5
wood measurements are always rounded
Because a 2x4 is actually only 1 5/8" by 3 1/2"
This product is not white. It's more a sand color
Why are you wearing gloves? Never wear gloves when woodworking!
It seems to be an Asian thing. I have run across numerous videos of Asians wearing gloves while woodworking.
