Nice results. No too many wood workers left to appreciate the beauty of wood and the time it takes
    for the trees to grow.

That is a stylish little bench .It amazed me how a simple taper really jazzed it up.THAT is a cross cut sled.

Jon, I think using the dowel to have something for the screw to grab is pure genius. I've been thinking about that all week. Love your videos.

I like it, very, very nice work, you took rough carpentry lumber, and gave it a fine furniture use, and look to it. Very elegant work.

Great project, very nicely done. I am a wood worker, incapable of doing the artwork but I love to cook as well. I must say I enjoy all your videos, cooking, art, and woodworking. You have an excellent RUclips channel. I highly recommend your channel to friends and acquaintances. Everything is wonderfully done, TOP NOTCH.

This week I designed and built this bench, it’s a modern design with a Japanese influence. The leg and brace design make this bench incredibly strong and I’m confident that the bench can support several hundred pounds. ( At least three grown men). I designed and built the bench with my three teenage sons in mind. The entire cost for this project is just about forty dollars. There is a drawing, material list and plans on my website. Thanks for tuning in and I hope you enjoyed the video.

Nice looking bench. Working on a project for our local town library and want to propose we build this to go with new bookcases and a desk for the books on hold checkout area. The bench would be for patrons to drop their book bags on while checking out. Thanks for posting this!

Sweet design, massive and solidly planted but refined. We don't get doug fir of that quality on the west coast, at least not at home centers. Especially liked the white oak table buttons, shaped so they contribute to the appeal if anyone should look underneath. That's an idea I'll keep for future use.

I love that bench, Jon! I was planning to build something similar for my wife, who is a silversmith. She wanted a stump to do some of her hammering, and I suggested a saw bench that she could straddle with the stump at one end making a nice comfortable spot to work. But now, I'm going to build this bench! Thanks for the plans!

Very nice bench, good proportions, and glad to hear you'll be alternating woodworking with art projects. I like the variety of home projects, furniture building, and artwork on your channel.
Fastening into the cross-grain of that dowel insert was a particularly interesting part of this project and I'd be interested in a episode maybe fleshing out that explanation a little more and showing other similar techniques. Those strengthening tips are a super helpful part of these furniture builds.

Love this so much I went to buy materials for it today to build something similar. The problem I ran into, at least in my area, is that I had to visit 3 "home centers" to get the boards. Lowes for the douglas fir 4x4, Home Depot for the doug. fir 2x6s, and Menards for the doug. fir 2x8s! It may have been easier to build it out of poplar sourced from my local lumberyard. Ha! Thanks for the great videos, keep them coming!

Great one! I'm building a farm table and I love this bench for it! I like the direction the channel is going. Keep doing the art!
Also, as I was watching this, my six year old daughter glances over and goes, "Dadda, are you gonna build that for my restaurant?"
She actually does like to cook and helps out in the kitchen regularly. She has this idea for a lemonade stand/restaurant by the side of the road.
