    🙋🏼 ABOUT ME: Hi guys! My name is Alyona. I was born in Russia. I'm a musician. And I love art, makeup, fashion, style and beautiful environments. I love playing with makeup and fashion, but at the same time, I’m quite a minimalistic person. I don't like the idea of being fixated on the body too much. I have an alternative and unconventional viewpoint on beauty, the body types and face shapes. I love helping other women find their "it" and finally discover their beauty and boost their confidence.
    I have several series on my channel that you might be interested in such as: Body Types, Contouring, Makeup History and Makeup Transformations. Also some random beauty hacks about skin care, hair, nails and beauty in general.
    ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
    Hey guys! After I got some requests in instagram I thought I would do my balayage video.
    But this is more of a how I do it. Because I know what to mix and how. You can also use a lightening cream color, but it doesn't make your hair super light, and it won't create that "flash of color" effect, that contrast.. And also if your hair is colored already, the cream color won't do anything for you.
    But bleaching powder works on any hair, colored or not colored, dark or light. It is considered to be more damaging on your hair, but I grew my hair super long with bleaching them over and over myself at home. And my hair is super thin and sleek. So It works for me.
    If you need super platinum white effect you can choose 40 volume developer. But you should apply it fast, because it will prossess fast. It might get to a wanted lightness pretty fast.
    So keep on checking. And If you are not sure, you can always try it on one peace of hair. Then wash it off, dry and see with different light. That's how I did it myself first time.
    So you can get beautiful ombre haircolor at home.
    Love x x x
    Aly

    hello Aly, please , will you tell me if this technique will work with a box dye.. a burgundy balayage for example on brown hair. can i use the same technique with a dye and not with bleach ? will it give an ombre effect ?

    • @mayatbee4223
      @mayatbee4223 8 лет назад

      +jenna zef have you ever tried it before. because i cant find any tutorial on the internet using regular box dye. (im not talking about loreal's ombre line or a special kit. just a normal box) isn't that a bit shady :p ?
      it feels wrong. there's always how tos for everything...

    • @jessicahuynh6835
      @jessicahuynh6835 8 лет назад

      NOOO. Dont do it. A box dye will not work and it will ruin yr hair. If yr hair is a medium brown or darker, you have to bleach it to lift it lighter. If you already have boxed dye in yr hair now, you need to strip that color out first before bleaching or it will be very uneven. You need to lift it to a light enough level of blonde for the burgundy you want, then tone it with probably a demi permanent color with the burgundy shade you want. And if you want an ombre effect, its really hard to do it yrself if youve never done it before in a way that will make it gradually blend correctly but you need to make sure your roots are the right shade and tone so that a red ombre will make sense.

      hello jessica, thank you so much ,
      i have a beautiful natural hair color. and i have never colored before , that's why im anxious about ruining it.
      its a an ashy medium brown with natural highlights.
      i wanna just make it pop. make it edgier. in i dont wanna worry about maintanance. or having growouts.
      and i dont want it lighter necessarily. i just want to be a brunette but with a twist. i hope you can suggest something?
      i just dont wanna go blondish or completely hide my natural hair with a darker dye.

Then I decided to try once more to go to a salon and now my hair are not healthy and not like I wanted them! From now on I will do my hair again at home balayage-ombre with only 10-20 euros cost! Do you set the rules so you can judge about if a balayage is right or wrong? And who said that she wanted it to look natural? I've seen plenty of good hairdressers who did the balayage even higher. That's just a matter of taste and has nothing to do with right or wrong. Plus in my opinion it does look pretty natural.

    • @amandac4107

      It's funny because I am a hair dresser and balayage is my fave thing to do and she actually did a good job! I think it looks natural and blended haha I mean I've seen some truly horrendous at home hair colouring and had to fix it but I've also had to fix other stylists bad jobs to! Some people just have a knack for hair and it's never going to look perfect from a technical view when you do your own hair. Looks beautiful to me! :)

    Yes, why do hairstylists mess up a balayage when they have panoramic view of the whole head and complete movement control of the applicator brush? Bleach destroys hair as it lightens it, so doing a balayage requires swift movement as well, something to keep in mind when doing this at home or you’ll end up with really light pieces where you didn’t want them to be so light as the ends of the hair, and then you’ll have to do a reverse balayage, on damaged hair (time consuming and costly). This video is good, she’s doing it right and simple.

    As a former colorist/hairstylist (I still do my own), you MUST be very careful when using powder bleach & peroxide... it is not meant to touch the scalp, also, if applied to previously chemically processed hair, your hair could break off or give the appearance of wet cotton if over-processed. For dark hair, a very high peroxide volume must be used to achieve lighter tones, it wouldn't ever bleach to a pale yellow unless heat is applied or multiple applications are performed. If unsure of the process, timing, or products required, always go to your professional! Damaged hair is not easy to repair!

    • @Pushnotificationsalwaysoffbye
      @Pushnotificationsalwaysoffbye 5 лет назад +4

      *edit - I made a few confusing statements here by mistake, please read my responses below before following this advice*
      If the results are orange, use purple shampoo. If they’re yellow, use blue shampoo. Same for toners. Be careful with ash toner; it can easily over saturate the hair and cause almost a murky gray. You actually should leave it on until it’s truly lifted, which means checking after about 30 min, and look for excessive damage. If you start to notice it becoming spongey, wash immediately. You may need multiple sessions (over time to heal) depending on your hair type and level. My Mother is a salon owner and has taught me to do my hair myself from her 30+ years as a color specialist and these are the tips she’s taught me. If you truly mess up, don’t fret too much. Since you have long dark hair, you can go to a stylist and request a toner. You can end up with beautiful caramel lights, and in a few weeks, lighten again. Just remember - if you’re naturally dark haired, or if your hair is previously untouched, you’ll need to let it process just as long at the roots as you will on the bottom. Good luck!

    • @wenderella81
      @wenderella81 4 года назад +1

      @@Pushnotificationsalwaysoffbye I'm sorry but that is incorrect info. I suggest you look up a color wheel to help you out. Also the root is going to take the longest since it's the newest growth. The ends are going to pull faster because of the age of the hair. I strongly suggest that you make a consultation appt with a Color Specialist and do not do this at home, doing it yourself on a level 1-3 hair is probably going to be disastrous. Good luck! :)

    The trick to get getting that blurred balayage is to do baby lights throughout the entire head and doing a quick lightener application on the ends of the hair that aren’t in foils. I’m a cosmetologist, that is how I do all of my balayages. I’ve seen the method you’re doing and sometimes it turns out good but sometimes it’s spotty due to not enough saturation. If you want a perfect balayage, ask for a full high light and an accent between the foils. It turns out perfect everytime no matter the hair type.

    Hi Aly and Thank You so Much!
    My hair is naturally like yours- a medium to dark blonde and until i saw your vid, there was NOTHING for balayage on natural blonde hair.
    I followed your technique and my hair looks beautiful!
    You explain it so well and make it easy for watchers to replicate.
    So much more Artistic and Natural than any other technique that I have seen,
    Much Love & Respect
    Rae x

    I had whole 6 cm of outgrown hair, cause I was really looking forwars to go and get balayage done. Thought that getting it done at the salon would be better that at home. Unfortunately, this stupid hairdresser lady gave me bleak platinum highlights that started 1 cm from my roots. I came for a professional balayage, and got an ugly three block color instead. Cried afterwards, but didn't express any of my opinion to her. My first and I think last trip to a salon for a balayage. Aly did a much better job, which is even more impressive because she did a magnificent job all by herself.
    PS the most absurd part was my hairdresses saying at the end " it will look like a balayage when your hair grows out a bit and these highlights will blend in with you natural hair color, only wait". Wtf? I CAME HERE for a BALAYAGE, not to get highlights and then wait until the balayage effect emerges by itself. Duh

    Hey Alyona, thanks so much for this video demonstration!! I just watched it for the 2nd time. I usually get babylights at the salon every 3 months + it costs $120 Canadian but I've been sick for a while + haven't gone for a touchup in over 6 months now. Yikes!!! So I decided to watch some tutorials on bleaching regrowth but all of the DIY's end up bleaching right onto their scalp + end up with 1 inch long banana yellow "HOT ROOTS" with another 3 inches of orange + then they end up having to do a 2nd full bleach which is horrible for your hair! I'm happy I finally watched your technique again before I tackle my hair at home. It seems that as long as you bleach hair without getting too close to the scalp (which processes much faster due to body heat) the blonde will be nice + light without the chance of brassiness. Great job on your hair + on the teaching technique!! I'll let you know how my hair turns out......

    First off....this is one of the very best hair color tutorials I have ever seen!!! You went straight to the process and you were very descriptive. This video would be extremely helpful for the newbie at home attempting to color/bayalage their own hair...I unfortunately grew up in the pre-RUclips era and have weeped heavily at my hair color fails of the past, lol!!! Like I said, this is an excellent tutorial....many beauty vloggers start tutorials by chatting about random and irrelevant things for several minutes before the actual process. The opposite is done here- which is why I actually watched the whole demo and will be subscribing!! BTW....I love your accent, it is beautiful....where are you from? Keep up the excellent videos 👍👍💖💖

    Do you colour the roots before doing balayage or after? Also how long before should I do my roots- they're a light brown but a mouse-y shade and I want a smooth transition to the light blonde! Thanks!

      Sometimes before, sometimes together at the same time, sometimes after. depending on where I am now. I think after one centimeter, maybe one month maximum )) I would die them after ))

    I’d be afraid where the bleach isn’t as saturated it wouldn’t lift enough color to keep it from being brassy. My natural color is light brown, but it’ll get brassy!

    AVOID putting bleach on the ends of your hair, it will severely damage it. Ive been blonde streaking my long hair by myself for years, always apply the bleach first at the portion that is the most resistant, the rear crown, do the face halo last as it absorbs the bleach the quickest. keep a plastic cap on tucked in tightly over all the hair or it wont process. grey hair takes the longest.
