@@RobRoyR8R True but Springsteen songs are usually about cars. Seeger often sang about riding motorcycles. More important Springsteen demanded points on the VHS sales which was unprecedented. Seeger simply wanted a flat $50K fee which was standard at the time.

Saw the director's cut with the Springsteen songs, and it made no sense. Even if Rocky died the year on the tombstone in the movie (which is wrong) the Springsteen songs used weren't released until after Rocky's actual death.

This is my favorite movie. However I love the theaterical more than the director cut. The added scenes with Cher singing was too showbizlike. and Reds funeral was foreshadowing Rocky's death so it wasn't much of a surprise. The Bob Segar music made the movie make more sense. Katmandu was perfect as well as the emotional ending. Bruce Springsteen not so much. It's hard to find the original production. It's better and fits better and is more special.

I first saw this movie in the 80’s when it came out on cable. Probably HBO due to the fact that this was the only premium channel on my local cable at that time. For many years I had only seen this film with Bob Seeger’s music playing. I haven’t seen it in almost 20 years as of last year. I couldn’t find it on any cable or streaming channels to watch. I decided to look for it on sale on Amazon. When I finally got it I was excited to watch. It made me a fan of Cher’s acting, but was confused and upset when I heard Bruce Springsteen instead of Bob Seeger. That was almost half of the reason that I loved the movie so much. I almost threw it away, but I haven’t. I also haven’t watched it since I bought it around three years ago. I’ve been looking all over the internet for someone that is selling it with the Bob Seeger soundtrack to no avail. I hope to find it sometime in the near future. I’ll be 58 on Tuesday and as I approach 60 I find myself thinking of my demise. I’m not fearful. I just realize that I’m far passed middle aged 😅.

I noticed after watching it yesterday that there was Bruce Springsteen music in it. I also noticed the "Little Egypt" song in there. I don't remember that in the main cut I had seen previously but I could be wrong on that.
Also, Did we all forgive Jane Fonda at some point or another? Her photo-op with Vietcong soldiers is the reason I have hated her my whole life. Taking photos with commies who killed American soldiers and then putting down capitalism while promoting communism at the same time is her M.O. and never again will I watch anything she's in. Did you see what she said on the view in regards to people that don't vote left? Murder them? She was serious when she said it and I believe someone needs to confront her.

This is speculation on my part -- but I think it's because of the Bruce Springsteen soundtrack. Two of the songs that Bogdanovich included hadn't even been recorded while Rocky was alive. If Springsteen was included because he was (supposedly) Rocky's favorite singer, then it wouldn't make sense to include "The River", which was released two years after his death. -- Damion @ FrontRow
