She's a good actress, but even better at singing!!!!! And shes a hot cougar!!! Now Meryl Streep, she's my favourite female actress, of all time!!!! She was incredible in the movie called: DOUBT. She for Shure had good looks in her prime and she still has good looks well into her 60,s!!! She's a powerfull woman!!!! She's a Goddess !!!! And she's no stupid type!!!! It's impossible to fool her!!! 😎😎😎😎💪👍👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🤪😘😘😘😍😍🤩
I'm glad to know all of this. Cher has always been known for her smarts and her kindness and her generosity in Hollywood. And Streep is so brilliant and cool and real. Here's hoping more ladies have friendships like this out in LaLaLand.
It makes me so happy that these two paragons of entertainment are also real life friends. Both are phenomenal talents and anyone who said Cher couldn't act lost out.
In the midst of a lot of today’s young women in Hollywood fighting tooth and nail and “feuding” with each other, it’s nice to see Meryl and Cher have such a strong bond and appreciation for each other. We need more of that in Hollywood.
Well, it sucks to be violated like that woman on the street, but damn, can you imagine experiencing that *divine* intervention? Love them both so much.
Suzanne Somers was also very talented. Comedy is so hard to pull off and she did it effortlessly on Three’s Company. Had Suzanne been given difficult and meaty roles I am sure she would have surprised us all and risen to the challenge.
I have the DVD and love it. I saw the movie before it got on DVD. I think Cher and Meryl Streep are much alike. That's why they are such good friends and are really nice to each other. You can tell that even in Mama Mia Here we go again. Debbie
"i just thought it was cool" - isn't that something?! i love Cher! she seems more down to earth now. i mean still floating in space... but closer to the ground, somehow
I have seen that clip when she got her award so many times and I really loved the reaction of Meryl. Cher looked like she didn't expect to get it. I am guessing that was after her two previous nominations when she got nothing. Be prepared to be disappointed Cher is what I thought she might be thinking. I was really happy for her.
Can't believe people had so much prejudice about her acting before anyone saw her performance..... She's one of the few artist from music industry who is an incredible actor! Her performance in Mask never failed me to cry..... So moving!
Come back to the five and dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dead is such a great movie! Whever you get a chance watch it. It's worth it. And there isn't a role in it that's not abolutely great.
May 2019 Everyone should watch the film or DVD Silkwood because it is one of the best films ever made. Why? Because of Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, Fukushima, and all the dangerous toxic waste from nuclear power plants with nowhere to go. It is very dangerous to live or even drive by a nuclear power plant waste dump 'storage.' Las Vegas is currently the waste dump for the toxic crap from the east coast. The new 'tiny' nuclear power plants have the exact same problem. Even if it is only the size of a can of Coke, it is probably even MORE dangerous, because ANYONE can put in a suitcase or backpack and take it anywhere.
Yes, and her nose and everything else. Sigh. She was so organic and terrific then. I adored her. But whatever...she can do whatever she wants. I saw her live show in Vegas last year, and it was so amazing. You must go. She performs regularly. But. Her acting career could have been twice the size, I think, had she not had surgery. She had another Oscar in her. Cher aging? Wow, that would have been amazing.
Constant Reader I agree with another Oscar in her...but I don’t think it was the surgery that held her back. I just think maybe her interests changed. She is one of the most natural actors out there. I could watch her in anything. She was so friggin amazing in Mask.
Lommy She got diagnosed with Epstein-Barr and was exhausted after making 3 films in one year, winning the Oscar, and all the things that come along with all that. She turned down many movies and focused back on music in 1989-1990 with a huge album (Heart of Stone). By the time she opted to do 'Mermaids' in 1990, people had forgotten what a marvelous actress she really is. She had begun infomercials and was becoming a bit of a punchline in Hollywood. She was able to get back into the music biz with 'Believe' in 1998 but she never really managed to become the big actress she seemed destined to become back in 1987. For the record, in 1987, Cher was the highest paid actress in Hollywood at the time!
Wouldn't say that's entirely accurate. I think she's actually just really choosey about movies she wants to be a part of. I don't think she's that hungry to be working constantly as an actress and has done a few gigs here and there in recent years, like Mamma Mia and that movie with Christina Aguilera.
Safe to say it dried up long before 1995...I'd really say it dried up in 1987 after winning the Oscar. Too bad she didn't do more. She's a phenomenal actress.
Uh, Mermaids, The Player, Faithful, Tea With Mussolini, Burlesque, Mamma Mia 2 -- I wouldn't say: "dried up" but she is VERY selective about what she does.
The comment I've ever heard about award shows came from Barbra Streisand and she said (paraphrasing) people don't typically remember who wins awards, they remember the work. Very true. If the performance stays with you that's enough.
Well, probably had the do with the fact that the story about Billie Holliday portrait in this movie is complety false. I do agree that Diana Ross played it beautifully, although her thin voice is nothing like Billie's. But showing of Louis McKay as the man who wanted to save her from drugs is a joke. He was a complete lowlife who drew her down with him. That must have influenced the Academy in their decision. Can Diana Ross act? Yep, she can. Was this a true biopic? Nope. It was the Hollywood version of Billie Hollidays life. And that probably cost her the Oscar.
All these people here acting like these demons are so wonderful. Sorry but i see what they are, demons. You need to turn off your tv and stop watching movies.
Amazing to hear about Meryl and Cher saved a woman on the street of NY. What a blessing and super treat to that girl!
For sure! But if it went down as Cher told the story, she didn't appear too thankful. But then she was probably in shock. Not judging!
Can you imagine what the perp was thinking?
"Holy crap, these acid flashbacks are intense!"
Bless Cher's heart.... she is an AMAZING actress without ever having tried to be. She is a pure talent.
I'd say a BRILLIANT actress even. I've NEVER seen something that Cher's been in that I didn't at LEAST like.
She's a good actress, but even better at singing!!!!! And shes a hot cougar!!! Now Meryl Streep, she's my favourite female actress, of all time!!!! She was incredible in the movie called: DOUBT. Cher is such a class act. I adore her.
Cher was so great in that movie . I love that she proved to them that she had more talent than they gave her credit for .
Meryl and Cher... both iconic.... I love both. Good to see two people getting along 35+ years and counting.... Congrats!
wow. 35 and plus..... Yeah, that's really great. Would you also say that about the actors who are 60 pus and counting?

OMG! It's my favorite movie of all time! I can watch it a million times.
She was so good in Silkwood. She was so good in Jimmy Dean. One of the very, very few singer who can also act.
There's un certain number who can or could: judy garland, liza minelli, barbra streisand, bette midler to name a few!
@@christophepena2212 yes. But at one point or another, most great singers want o make a movie as well. And there are few who can pull it off.
I respect anyone who recognizes Sandy Dennis for her uniquely talented brilliance 😊😁🤩😍
