Can we talk about Eric Stoltz? The genetically blessed person (understatement) who became Rocky Dennis. At no moment during his performance do you recall his natural appearance. A highly underrated performance by Stoltz - who off the top of my head you would only know as the heroin dealer from Pulp Fiction. Highly recommend John Hughes' "Some Kind of Wonderful" w/Stoltz and Mary Stuart Masterson (Fried Green Tomatoes).

I grew up around outlaw bikers. I had a lot of uncles, and aunts that weren't blood. They used to call me Dougly do-right, and always pushed me to do good in school, and by virtue of seeing them in various stages of loaded, kept me away from drugs. It's definitely an interesting family life.

Ashleigh gushing over Sam Elliot after not instantly recognising him is hilarious.

Cher has stated in an interview that the reason she stopped making movies is because all of her early films were literally so good, that she became sort of paralyzed over the choice of what movie to do next because she always wanted to be as good as she was in Mask, Silkwood, Moonstruck, Witches of Eastwick... etc.

One of the first movies that didn't make bikers look like animals, needless to say one of my favorites!

"Beans, I'm sorry!! I'm having a moment!!!" brought a smile through the tears that always fall when I watch this movie. The reading of the real Rocky's poem at the end gets me every time.

The fact that he never got to travel the world but was so close to the start of his journey really is sad😢 bless him

This is one of those movies that sneaks up on you. Not much happens, but what does happen is important.

You should watch "Some Kind of Wonderful" or "Memphis Belle" to see some more of Eric Stoltz acting as he's a pretty good actor.

I went to high school with Rocky back in 1978, you couldn't help but feel sorry for him but he actually seemed upbeat when you talked to him, most of the time.

I lost a child to brain cancer and some relatives of mine who were Deadheads said the song Ripple reminded them of me. When I watched the movie again back in 1996,that end scene came on with that song playing when Rocky is found by his mother. I lost it. This movie is something else .

I ADORE this movie! Everyone in it is perfection! Cher's scene, where she is trying to write to Rocky . . . She was ROBBED of an Oscar that year!

I haven't seen this film in a long time. But I'm laughing at Ashleigh's reaction to Sam Elliot, thinking to myself, "Someone get this woman some water, because she is dying of thirst!" 😂😂

Love this movie, such a tearjerker. When you see the real Rusty in interviews it’s crazy how much Cher got her down to a T, you should do another Cher movie called Mermaids, it’s so good and underrated also has Winona Ryder in it as Cher’s daughter

According to IMDB they filmed it in Rocky's old neighborhood. While in make up a neighbor greeted Stolts in the Rocky makeup and said 'Hi, I'm so glad to see you I thought you passed'. Cher said the guy was so happy they didn't have the heart to tell him.
