- Lucid nightmares can be really scary, but you still have some control over the things around you. However, there are some things that you should absolutely NEVER do while in a lucid nightmare. In this video I cover 6 things you should avoid at all costs!

Lucid nightmares are usually caused when you're in a lucid dream and start thinking negative thoughts. If you don't deal with them right away, the dream will slowly gets out of control until you are in a vivid nightmare. Although these dreams are scary, they can't harm you in real life.
The things I list in this video should be avoided because they will lead to the nightmare getting even worse. I think it's really important to know what these things are so that you can consciously make the decision to avoid them.
At the end of this video I go over some simple steps you can use to turn lucid nightmares into amazing lucid dreams. Many lucid dreamers experience lucid nightmares, so it's good to know these steps in case it happens to you.

Yeah a couple of times once I was 3 or 5 I was in a room with 5 to 8 doors and if I chose the wrong one I'd die. Turns out they were all wrong and every door opened and there were grim reapers in every one

I am extremely dissapointed that the only lucid dream I've ever had, was when I was 7 and didn't know what they were. In my dream, I was at my uncle's house with my parents, and armed robbers tried to break in. While everyone else was freaking out and trying to get out of the house, I sat down on the couch and told the robbers that they couldn't kill me.

My first one was in the middle of a dream that my sister went to skydive with me, I knew it wasn't right because my sister is scared of heights. BUT I had to make sure it WAS a dream, so I smacked her and she didn't react. That's when I knew it was a dream 😂😂

I had a lucid dream turn into a lucid nightmare once. I was running from something and I legit stopped, turned around, and said "goodbye". Whatever was chasing me just up and poofed into a cloud of smoke right there. I then had one of the best lucid dreams of my life

a weird nightmare ive always had is one where im in some tiny cramped space (almost like iron lung) with giant rusted decaying machines that are screaming at me at me i just remember this feeling of just pure anger being directed at me as if i was being yelled at by someone

People need to remember that u can create things, I have created a futuristic watch that looks really simple but Is very complicated feature. It’s basically an assistant. I can summon people to help me, or create barriers, basically do anything for me. It can help you focus in a dream and actually help you do things because sometimes when u are lucid it still might be hard to control

Whenever I have a Lucid Nightmare, I looked at whatever that thing chasing me was, showing I am not afraid of it.
"This is MY dream."
Then I enter the Avatar State and beat that thing to nonexistence.

Forced myself awake when I lost all feeling in my arms and within the dream I was paralyzed to the ground. Turned out my real life body was reflecting in my dream, fell asleep with my arms above my head and they fell asleep DEEPLY. Took a lot of effort to force myself awake.
The last dream I forced myself awake, I looked into a mirror as an inner voice suggested it and told me to focus on the background. Then I was told to compare it to the reality around me, which triggered the response that I knew I was dreaming and that I needed to wake up. In the mirror I could spot things that were out of place, and that triggered my brain to wake me up.

Easiest ways to get rid of lucid nightmares
1. Don't be scared of anything
2. Don't sleep
3. If you do sleep Don't lucid dream while you are afraid
Tip: When you see horror stories, just call it fake.
And even if you aren't sure, you should do some research.

One of my methods for escaping the prenightmare phase is to feel like your opening up an main menu and pressing exit to main menu then you can select to either leave your dream or play a new map
However i dont think this will work once the lucid nightmare has completely started

As a police officer; I've had dreams like these where I'm in active shooter situations. I usually wake up when I get shot or stabbed. I feel pressure and warmth in my chest as well as I observe my own blood. When I wake up I hyperventilate and check myself for wounds. Another issue is I'll relive stuff in my dreams that's happened in real life but in the worse scenarios where I didn't make it. Thanks for this video. My traumas keep me awake at night and I suffer from insomnia cuz I know when I close my eyes I'll see or hear stuff I don't want to again, could be faces or anything

happened to almost die in my dreams 4 or 5 times, elevator comes loose and freefalls (happened twice), unkown intruder in my house, accidentally falling over a balcony. Stuff like that, i usually wake up just before i die, as i repeat to myself in the dream that im about to die over and over, all i see is balck and then i wake up to a surge of relief. One time tho i woke up because i realised the odds of an elevetor dropping in the void just as i was thinking about it happening was ridicolously low, so as the elevetor was freefalling i was repeating to myself "it cant be real, its just a dream", then i woke up disappointed it wasnt real for some reason because it was SO obvious that i was dreaming.
I think the reacurring of the "im freefalling to death" theme is to be attributed at fear trauma when i was a kid, i once freefell from the top of a 1 story garage, i was retrieving a ball and just havent been carefull enough, i did a frontflip and landed straigh up on my feet thankfully, but the sensation will forever haunt me i think
So its very true, in the dream will happen whatever you belive its about to happen, elevator jolts and rumbles, i fear its gonna fall and that fuels my nightmare more, and to me its impossible to control or change the toughts, luckly that also works when you got your crush in your dream too, if i fall asleep 3 or 4 nights in a row thinking about her

I have a problem when my dream is over i can't move i am paralyzed, stuck in a black void. I can’t breathe I but I can hear everything around me, I call for help for someone in the house to move me so I can wake up but no one comes. Then I finally wake up

I just recently had a lucid dream turn into a nightmare, so I asked why the things I was afraid of chasing me. They put it simply, they said "because you want us to" I haven't been able to shake that creepy feeling off since then.

My lucid nightmare turned into a lucid wet dream. My subconscious confirms that i actually have a fetish for vampires.
My only lucid dreams I’ve had were nightmares, I wasn’t trying to lucid dream, they just happened, on all three occasions it morphed very weirdly to horror, every time I just closed my eyes super tightly, and I could feel my room coming back, I somehow forced myself out of all of them.
I know this is a little messed up but I enjoy lucid nightmares because they make me feel real pumped up from adrenaline.

I remember having a lucid nightmare about zombies, I had no idea about what lucid dreams were.
I was really scared and all my family was killed, they were chasing me and I thought that I needed to fly if i wanted to survive. So I did, to my surprise, that's when I realized that everything was a dream and that all my family was alright in the real world. I kept flying for a bit until my clock wake me up that morning.
I went straight to hug my mom because the simple thought of loosing her was terrifying, it felt so fucking real.

Same happened to me but it was a creature that killed all my family so I moved to China and I got adopted but the creature followed me and I saw it kill a whole school of students and then at the end the creature was chasing me and I literally tried to run but was walking slowly and then right when the creature was gonna catch up to me I woke up and literally went crying to my moms room and slept there for three days straight. Let me just say, the creature was terrifying. And like you say, the thought of my parents dying is ducking messed up.

I dont know aboud lucid nightmares, but nightmares where I am being chased or hunted I usually become so hooeless I just decide to join the monsters hunting me. Then I remember also hunting some random people in my dream as a monster.

For sleep paralysis:
I laugh at the hallucinations I experience in my sleep paralysis. If I feel there's someone in the room, I tell myself 'I don't care if this person murders me.' Might sound crazy, but both of these methods (at least for me) instantly create a vibe of acceptance and allows me to enter lucidity. Had a few lucid dreams last night, and they stemmed from sleep paralysis. They were so realistic that I was I was astral projecting at first.
Well I tell my hallucinations that they will regret it if they come anywhere near me. If they come near me, I have already built enough confidence in myself that I can beat the demon. It sounds a little crazy but I usually put the demon in my position and hunt them down. I don't know why but I love fighting my hallucinations, it's really fun, especially if you believe you are better than it in every way.
this also works for me, when someone is about to kill me in a dream i have usually realized its a dream by then and i either tell the guy he is not real and i have control over the dream people in my dreams or just: ok kill me so i wake up.

The "Turn your lucid nightmare into something amazing" thing actually works for me, lucid nightmares happen sometimes for me and for me, they're really easy to turn into something better. My main tip is to think (Or try to) about something or someone you love, and have it come into the dream, it really helps.
Until it corrupts that love and uses it against you. Have you ever been helplessly, painfully, brutally tortured by your own mind in your dreams?

I really want to start lucid dreaming but I am terrified of having a lucid nightmare, Is it common to have these lucid nightmares? Does it feel like the end of the world?
I remember having a nice lucid dream until I went to the bathroom, looked into the mirror and from that point everything shattered, reality physically and mentally. I wake up, looked next to me and saw a sleep paralysis demon. Woke up again and was sweating hard, panting like hell and stayed up for the last few hours reading.

One of the first lucid nightmares I had as a kid was when this bootleg Santa looking guy was carrying an axe and we were in a video game "bossfight" as he was chasing me with an axe, he eventually caught up with me and shoved his axe straight through my skull, I didn't feel pain but my head felt very cold.

As someone who constantly experiences sleep paralysis, Everytime i feel pain or discomfort while in a dream or nightmare, it's always related to my physical condition. I might be sleeping in a position that is uncomfortable to my biological function, I might be in a position whereby I'm not breathing properly and it manifests in my dream. This gets me startled awake and I rectify it. However, as someone who has had hundreds of lucid dreams, I've had lucid dreams and nightmares that have been governed by my fears! In fact, I've had a lot more lucid nightmares than lucid dreams. However, I think I might be a special case since I had celebral malaria when I was young. For those who don't know, celebral malaria is basically a long lasting nightmare. Your brain is infected in that you experience hallucinations of your worst nightmares. You can actually die from the disease itself or from a panic attack from the nightmares you are constantly experiencing. It's a recurring disease but i thank God I've not had it since i was 5. However, I've experienced both lucid dreams and nightmares hundred of times since then. So much that I can't tell if it's because of my past celebral malaria or if it's just normal. The nightmares are not fun because I always feel like I'm dying. The dark figures and demon like creatures are not fun either. It's crazy that I've experienced this hundreds of times but i still dread the nightmare experiences. Sometimes I'm aware of the fact that it's just a nightmare but the fear and dread doesn't go away. It always feels like this is the day they get you! Anyway, I'm always open to new information about this. I hope to learn more from this community!

A couple of tips from my experiences: 1) If your dream is moving or leading you somewhere, DO NOT FIGHT IT, let it show you what it wants to show you otherwise it will turn into a nightmare; 2) If you find yourself in a lucid nightmare or experiencing a night terror, GET ANGRY! By getting angry, you kick in your fight or flight response and the adrenaline rush will allow you to either take control of the experience so you can correct course or wake you up. This also works with sleep paralysis.

Actually, I had a lucid nightmare in which I got angry. I was like "hell no it is my dream and I will do whatever I want" and then I became a nightmare to things inside of my nightmare. I often have lucid dreams, but once I realize I am, I normally wake up without even trying. It just… happens. I think I’ve only ever had ONE dream that came to a conclusion like a story. Beginning middle and end, that night was literally the best sleep I’ve ever had.
