An epic rendition of a cult classic. I wouldn't even be aware of its existence if it wasn't for the bootleg I've dicovered some decade ago of one of their late 90's concert.
to me this is the definitive version of this song, it captures the emotions of the lyrics really well... it's towering, bleak, it's like black sabbath... Corgan's guitar sounds like it wants to strip the top layer of crust from the earth... tremendous... and what a crowd to play it to :P nobody mosh's like ze germans :D
And to add to this, when they played it like this there is no chance for it to be the definitive version. They’re trying to be cool and stray away from what made the song great in the first place which is the Chorus melody. This version is extremely unsatisfactory
@@b_i_l_l_w_i_l_l_i_a_m_s_o_n exactly, the glastonbury version was the best in my eyes because it captured the more melancholic feel of the song. I never got a pure angry vibe from this song. it was always more melancholy.
all jokes asides, i get why people hate this performance. billy's vocals are terrible (he always fucked up this song in live in live anyways), visuals are terrible, and this is probably the most late 90s video of all time. (man those times were even more weird than the 90s themselves -i'm from '99 xdxdxdxdxdxd) but the main guitar riff is cool, the drum part is heavy, james as always goes crazy and darcy has a cool part even if she's never that present in the mix (just like in the albums, except maybe gish). i think that if a more punk/hardcore band would cover this version, it would be a great song.
Nope, back in late 90's, it was very common that rock bands exploring the sound effects by making a wide variation of sound distortions, some examples like the end part of song in "coffee and TV" from Blur, Nirvana in "radio friendly unit shifter", and some songs of Sonic Youth...some other rock bands in late 90's did the same thing too...
Billy performing this like it's been a hit for 30 years. This guy always strayed from normal.
This is the most late 90s thing I've ever seen
SP was extra creative with live performances during the Adore era
A truly unique time in SP history with Kenny rocking the Adore tour. Would love some live releases from this era.
wow. best version of these masterpiece
It's not bad but check out this one! it will undoubtedly be less strenuous on the vision.

Damn, Bill wasn’t lying when he said that towards the end of SP he changed the entire song. This is wild

Bullet with drum solo
Abso love this take on their classic
this drummer is everywhere..:D

Sometimes you can overthink things and reinvent the wheel...
it was in 1998 man!
Noooooo! they cut the video just before the best part!
why...what happens after?
@@GoSolar they stop playing

the drummer just couldn't cut it for the song....
not his fault, he had to ride his bike to the freakin show
It take 3 drummers to replace jimmy damn😂😂
Not my thing. I like the original versions.
Ali G on the kit
1998
I love them but this is bad...
He faked it...for one more show...
blitzkrieg version from germany
Yes, even a drum solo can not make up for Jimmy.
nope , those 2 can't get on Jimmy's level anyday

🤣🤣🤣
1999 lol..

I guess you need to improvise without Jimmy Chamberlain.
Worst version ever

i think they were just bored of playing this song so they decided to mess with it
@@AltCTRLF8 That's the Pumpkins' problem. Don't take it out on the audience. Make it sound like the album, no "tricks"
Brian Commanderson sometimes it works though.
Tonight, Tonight and 1979 have multiple versions, most are good IMO.
WTF?
Man, Kenny Arnoff needs to practice the drums a lot. Must be a newbie ;)
Many levels of nope... amazing band... crap version.
They did something like this in the zeitgeist era with Heavy Metal Machine
Worst cover of themselves; and I was a big fan of the smashing pumpkins...The drum make me sick...
FUCK! This sucks! 😳
I don't like this version
Awful
This was an awful version 😫
batucada pumpkins jjjajajajja 👎👎👎
