It’s actually kind of impressive how they managed to tear down quite literally everything that made Nick Fury such an interesting character and an enigma. His mystique, his competence, his capabilities, even down to his eye patch, all ruined. At this point it’s very hard not to believe this was a professional demolition.
They robbed us of a great Nick Fury storyline. Samuel L Jackson is great in the role, but from what I see in the video (did not care to watch the show) he phoned his performance in. A shame.
@@duvan.deschain How engaged is an actor supposed to be in such an emasculating role? The only pleasure Sam Jackson got out of the role was in destroying something "some" white people liked. The incompetence of Disney is almost impressive. It's like giving someone a million dollars and he comes back the next day with a billion dollars in dept.

Have you ever seen the clip where in the lion king, the lion lays down a cloud of sparkling dust flys up in the air spalling the word "Sex"? How about the scene in the Aladin cartoon where Jasmin' looking out the curtain and you can hear the genie telling her to take her clothes off in a low voice? Disney has been up to some evil stuff for a long time now bro and I advise you to pay close attention to what your kids watch today.
@@bradleywelch9290 so what would be Disney's agenda be in that instance? Are you saying that is Disney thinks a child we'll see a word or hear words that most adults won't even notice? Children are generally less observant than adults. Even if they notice these things in a cartoon, what kind of effect would that have on children that they saw the word sex or heard the sentence "take your clothes off"? Much worse than that is on television all the time and is easily accessible. I don't think Disney needs to be that cryptic about it. You do realize the broken male your talking about is a a man in his 70s who is also traumatized from getting blipped away for five. Even with all that he wasn’t even useless. Sure he didn’t beat the big bad and Giah did but so what. He’s an old man without super powers and he was still able to figure out Rhoads was a skrull, figured out a plan to stop gravick, and saved the president twice. Doesn’t sound useless to me.
Good eye, sir, and a good catch. I wouldn't have noticed this bright sparkle of original creative thinking if you hadn't pointed it out, I thank you. People giving disney so much grief, it's about time they got some love for their original creativity. Now please excuse me while I go and happily vomit.
It just dawned on me...the reason why the President was white because in the last episode he puts out a very public warning that all Skrulls, Krees, whatever will be eliminated on sight. So he becomes the ultimate bad guy. Willing to kill the poor aliens that just want to have a home. 😂
I’m wondering if all these crazy budgets for all these “blockbusters” is just a front for laundering money…I think if people started to investigate these “catering budgets” we’d be very surprised
What is wrong with writers. We don't need shows which feature increasingly OP characters. We need ones that grow, learn, adapt and increase their abilities and understanding of what it means to have power. Fire all these awful writers before they completely destroy the IP. Arguably, it may be too late already.
@@Bushman06 Ya I thought that was possible in 2020, maybe immediately after the Loki debachery. But there’s too much damage. Too much genuine hate and vitriol emanating from Disney/MSHEU to the fans for any correction of this crapathon. The taint from all of it would cover anything they attempted to produce, regardless of the backstory, multiverse or whatever else they try to bludgeon together.
It boggles the mind that they would buy all this intellectual property just so that they could take a dump all over it. They had the focus group studies done for them, by the comics... and they went right ahead and ignored all that. They literally didn't have to do anything except bring the comics to live action... and they completely shanked it.
That's the point to literally tank and subvert it it was the entire point, this is an era where ideological subversion overrides maximum potential financial gains.
I'm genuinely shocked Emilia gave such a bad performance. She is incredibly expressive in interviews, she really knows how to channel her charisma. It's not botox, her eyebrows practically have their own fan page for how moveable they are. None of that life she has comes through here. Considering they couldn't figure out the story til they were in the editing room the only thing I think could have happened is that the director had no clear vision for her character and gave her minimal direction at best, actively shit direction at worst. So she played it neutral because she had no overarching vision to work to. Or she played it in a way that didn't fit the story the editors ended up making, so they chose her worst takes because they fit better. Idk I just didn't think it was possible to fuck up if you put her in something but here we are. I'm still trying to figure out what happened.
It blows my mind they threw over $200 million at this thing and had major actors involved and they didn't even bother to figure out the story before they started putting episodes out. I mean the level of sheer incompetence is staggering.
Yes its almost like Kathleen Kennedy is in charge. I was looking forward to this show, thought it would be good, as its Samuel L Jackson for heavens sake....I saw the reaction to the first episode and thought, I will wait till its all dropped and see what its like overall. Well here we are and its another show I will miss, on the pile with She Hulk, MoonKnight, Hawkeye, MsMarvel and films like the Eternals and Antman Quantamania or whatever its called. I also skipped Wakanda Forever as I could not see the point of a Black Panther film without Black Panther. The other issue I had with that one was the name, each time I see it my brain re arranges it so it says Wankhander Forever. I just cant take it seriously after that.....
Did you say... $200 million? This show had _FIVE writers_ credited for this entire season. If a mere 1% of that overall budget was spent on writers' salaries, each of the clowns who wrote this dreck received a $400,000 payday---and I guarantee you they didn't each spend 2000 hours (a standard "full time" working year) writing their respective episodes, so they were probably pulling in around $400/hour while writing this show. That's double what the average _cardiologist_ makes in America! Underpaid & overworked, my ass!
@@Neb_Raska I was thinking about it, but I just cant be bothered. I have never heard of the character and the mess they have made of Loki, Falcon n Winter Soldier etc, means my trust has gone. It might be a fine series but its not going to go anywhere else so it would at best be filler for me. I would rather see Isaacs in something really good than waste my time. I would have seen this series if it had come out before all the other rubbish, but not now....besides...Disney gets no money off me until they start listening to the audience again and go back to family values. There is little to no chance of that and at some point over the next ten years I expect them to go under as they just wont course correct...
Agreed. Much more thought-provoking, well paced, and ACTUALLY entertaining. If Hollywood shitcanned all their current writers and replaced them with talented people who passionately cared about their products, I would be happier and possibly even consider watching their products again.

As you pointed out, Skrull Rhodey being on the planet where they killed Thanos is a BIG miss. Captain Marvel even "surveyed" the planet and said there was "no one else there, just him". Were we supposed to just forget the past and disregard this?
So, what happened to the "originals"? Where is real Rhodey? Where is real Priscilla? Did Fury marry the real Priscilla and fall in love with fake Priscilla? Whut? His wife's maybe killer?
@MrMangoEdits .... nah before the snap Thanos had that place mapped out for himself. Also Skrulls are very adaptable... as you can see on earth before and after the snap. Did they really wanted an undeveloped planet of their own where they can start off from scratch ??
When actors have no facial expressions, its because they aren't motivated or identifying with the script or character. We are taught that its better to be honest than it is to pretend (and believe me, this is true). This is, of course, no excuse. No excuse at all. But given the horrible script and political agenda? No one feels safe, free or creative in a Woke environment.
And yet, most actors (at least on the surface) are fully on board with the message. So them feeling trapped by a monster of their own making is far from the worst they deserve for virtue signalling our way into this mess.
Boo-Hoo! For the amount of money they are getting paid they can just do their JOB. Henry Cavill did it with no problem (other than hating every minute of it). Also, acting IS pretending.
This kind of writing is personal pettiness masquerading as art. They've betrayed their craft for politics. I actually hope their strike fails and they get fired and blacklisted.

Emillia Clarke is a meme. She is certainly not an actor. How she is still working or gets roles is beyond me. I have seen more animation in a Simpsons cartoon....
Hey, Disney? Do you remember how part of the plot of She Hulk was about a small faction of men trying to get She Hulk's blood? Here's a really quick addition to the 'blood' plot for this show: Have any one of those thugs ALSO BE A SKRULL! You know? Make your so called 'Interconnected universe' ACTUALLY interconnected? But I'm giving you too much credit, I'd be surprised if Disney even knew they were doing Skrulls need blood when they were doing She Hulk.
@@marcogenovesi8570I’m certain none of the Disney or MCU writers have ever read more than “The Hungry Hungry Caterpillar”. They’ve certainly never heard of Chekhov’s gun.
I doubt she-hulk writers even watched their own show. Don’t get me started on the writers for any other Disney show. “So was the show you wrote all you wanted it to be?” “Oh I didn’t see it, I don’t watch crap”
I'll stand by this until the day I die: The MCU was over after Endgame. Anyone with common sense saw that trajectory years before Endgame even came out. Now all you can do is chuckle while you watch the whole thing crash and burn.
People may doubt you when you say that the trajectory was apparent years before Endgame, but starting in 2017 we got Thor Ragnarok, where Thor and Hulk were both turned into goofy comic relief while Valkyrie was depicted as the bestest evar. And two years before that was the TV show Agent Carter, which was just a fantasy about women's perceived victimhood through history, but I can't speak much about that show because I stopped watching the moment our protagonist threatened to stab out the jugular vein of a random stranger with a fork for being rude to a waitress.
Imagine for a second that you're tasked with making a spy thriller for Marvel. And imagine that it will star Nick Fury, so you already have a strategic genius in the script. And imagine also that the villains of this spy thriller are shape-shifting aliens, the hands-down easiest thing you can do to generate surprise twists in a spy thriller (so easy that literally every MI movie has relied on their impossible perfect face masks like a crutch). And now also ALSO imagine that this show will be named after an already well-received comic run that's basically done all the heavy lifting for you about twice, maybe even 3x over if you count the first Ultimates run. And NOW...imagine you fail to use ANY OF THAT effectively. That's Secret Invasion.
The worst part? They knew exactly what they were doing to Fury and how it would be recieved because in all of the promotional materials they make him out to be a badass...while in the first episode and onward he just gets shit on.
Another continuity issue with Rhodes being a skrull after Civil War, he was bleeding red in Endgame in the Avengers HQ attack, and he was crawling to get Rocket
Marvel's initial success was due to them focusing on well known superheroes, making superb casting choices, making solid movies, while loosely stitching the stories together, building up to Thanos and the infinity stones. They abandoned all of those points after Endgame. We now have b-list heroes nobody cares about, there is no direction or story arc to care about, and the movies themselves are just low quality. They really needed a strong villain teaser IN or after Endgame. Doctor Doom or Galactus would have been good choices.
They could have easily transitioned to Galactus after Endgame. I.e. thanos wiping out half of life slowed Galactus down, but when the Avengers undid all that, they all but guaranteed his imminent arrival. Thanos would have been right but in the wrong way, and the Avengers were wrong but in the right way. It could have been similar to what they did in Eternals but much better.
To be fair it's partially some fans' faults too. There are so many people who treat celebrities like gods and worship the ground they walk on. So it's understandable that they'd start to feel special.
It’s crazy to me how the style has changed so radically since the inception of the MCU. I remember the first phase leading up to avengers being fun to watch, colorful on screen, funny seeing the interactions between all of our beloved characters. Phases 2 & 3 being darker, marred with espionage & war, but everything the russos did was well-made & great superhero content (particularly cap 2 & infinity war). But this phase, man… every scene is SO fucking dark, no fun character interactions, no color splash or pop, so much political messaging. It just stopped being fun years ago. What a waste.

The trend continues. Take a series hero, turn him into a sad, broken old man. Give him a girl boss that is magically good at everything without trying, to do all the work. Then wonder why the theatre is empty, and don't forget to blame the fans.
In other words the example they are giving young girls is that if they are strong they will end up marrying a slump….it’s just sad they don’t see their own problems.
the funny part about the whole fury's wife thing. is they clearly used the same actress in the skrull makeup. so even though she is supposed to be a skrull who met a random earth woman and took on her face/body. she looks essentially the same but green. clearly they did this to save money paying another actor, but it sort of ruins the whole plot they give her with nick about "would you love me in my true form" and her "true form" looks like the same woman only bald and painted green.

When they made the Skrulls into docile, refugees, I knew Secret Invasion was going to be bad. I never imagined it would be this bad. Let's not forget the complete misinterpretation of the Super Skrull. Yeah I know the Fantastic 4 haven't been introduced yet, but giving the Skrulls every Avengers/villains' powers completely breaks everything.
My biggest criticism about secret invasion is the lack of skrulls. How can I learn to empathize with aliens if they ALWAYS look like human until they become the big bad monster.
It's impossible to empathise with them. The humans saved them by defeating their racial enemies the Kree and then take some of them in and in response they plot to genocide their hosts, they are trash.

AI won't help against evil intentions. Will you guys NEVER understand that incompetence is NOT the real problem here?! Or is the truth too hard to face?
It's entirely possible this is all planned; hire only mediocre writers and after a few years of getting sick of garbage we the audience will welcome AI to replace them. The corpos can then get about firing everyone but admin and the janitor, pump out hundreds of shows for the cost of the electricity to run the computers and raise their salaries into the f*cking sky.
Yes, replace writers with a plagiarism machine incapable of coming up with original ideas and no comprehension of quality, that's the answer. I'd rather incompetent human writers then soulless garbage made by a computer program created for lazy execs to replace human talent so they can maximize profits at all cost. Plus knowing Disney they probably write half their crap with AI right now anyway to get around the writers strike.
Gary, I thank you for AGAIN, watching this miserable dreck so the rest of us don't have to. I'm at a loss as to how Disney/Marvel can be so openly spiteful and vicious with the treatment of legacy characters.
@haveanotherpinacolada You don't understand, the only joy that can be derived from modern hollywood is watching the Titanic sinking, so to speak. This way, we can get all the entertainment without (mostly without) the suffering.
Forget all the continuity errors it would create. I hate the idea of Rhodey being a Skrull since Civil War because of one thing: when Tony is moments from dying in Endgame, and "Rhodey" is the first to come to his side, silently realizing Tony is about to die. It means that silent goodbye between friends was featuring an imposter. Thanks, Disney. Great stuff.
The problem with Hollywood now is that it's run by people who have that bully mentality where in order for someone to look good, someone else has to be made to look bad. It exposes something deeply wrong with the people running the show. No pun intended. I mean, SLJ is in his what, 60s? 70s? He's old, yeah. And the idea of Nick Fury getting old, needing to come to terms with his mortality, having trust issues while needed to rely on younger people around him, all that's a great foundation for some drama in a show specifically focused on the character, but that isn't what they're doing. They're just using it as a framework to say, "Everything you love is old hat, the new world we have created is taking over." The bones of a good story are here, but the bones are all we get, because the meat is rotten. Watching the MCU at this point is basically feeding on the corpse of the franchise. Well, I'm sorry, Disney, but I'm not a vulture.
I'd put it more simply and say it's just horrible writing, horrible execution. Back when Captain Marvel came out, it was being said that cheaper, less experienced writers were being hired, because they were cheaper. IMO it showed with Captain Marvel - disrespecting characters we already knew, hammering people in the head with messaging, re-use and outright ripping off better movies, trying hard to make dramatic speeches or be profound and failing miserably, forced relationship dynamics. All adds up to - awful. It's like eating from a cheap buffet where everything has been sitting for hours and nobody added seasoning.
I don't really care or anything, said me, as well as the people who are in charge of making those decisions. I think you give them too much credit. lol
Imagine having a story with some Winter Soldier and X-Files vibes, with a budget of hundred of millions of dollars, and just making a mixed action flick…
The problem is they don't let directors and producers work with a low budget, having millions on a budget also means there is no space for creativity because money is always thrown at any problems
So, I mostly liked this show kind of but was disappointed by the ending. My biggest problem is -- Rhodey is paralyzed, right? He has been for many many years. And from the scene of the last episode where Rhodey was saved he was very clearly still paralyzed. Skrull Rhodey is not paralyzed. So, the entire US government and all of S.H.I.E.L.D. just _didn't notice_ the fact one of their most important, most high ranking, most respected members healed overnight from being paralyzed? What?
I don't usually subscribe to the whole "MSHEU" thing, but Gravik losing that easily to G'iah when both had the same powers and he has the size advantage was very hard to argue against. And nick fury not being part of the final battle with gravik when the writer said the show was about him and gravik basically was just like...what?
@@Monkeytheluffy56 This is the worst and most blatant example of it IMO, except for maybe shehulk, but that show isn’t meant to be taken seriously. This one is. Most of the time its not so blatant and just sounds like people hating on female characters for being powerful or even present at all like with female Loki and people feeling like they “emasculated” him to prop her up or getting angry at Jane Foster, Ironheart or Shuri who were already established in comics. Which in some ways I can see why people see it that way, but its a much grayer area than this farce. Specifically, it's been MCU producer Nate Moore saying he doesn't want their filmmakers to have read the comics (and Feige surely agrees with that). He's said it's because he doesn't want filmmakers to have their hearts set on a particular part of a comic they want to adapt. That speaks to me of him and the other MCU bigwigs wanting to keep a tight control over what's made and have the film/show meet their vision.

Thank you!! How do people keep forgetting he's in endgame. The whole skrull since civil war literally breaks the story
I actually like that premise.

the funny part about the whole fury's wife thing. is they clearly used the same actress in the skrull makeup. so even though she is supposed to be a skrull who met a random earth woman and took on her face/body. she looks essentially the same but green. clearly they did this to save money paying another actor, but it sort of ruins the whole plot they give her with nick about "would you love me in my true form" and her "true form" looks like the same woman only bald and painted green.
when i found out that Emelia Clarks arm flex wasn't cgi but they had her doing curls to save on the budget, i was amazed

The DNA thing makes so little sense for so many characters. For example...how does having the DNA of Carol Danvers give them Captain Marvel powers? Didn't she get her powers from the tesseract? So, using her DNA wont give someone else her powers. They'd have to be exposed from the tesseract as well and hopefully not die from it. And there's a few characters like that where the DNA simply wouldn't be enough to give someone their powers. But Captain Marvels is a big one since they were making such a big deal about it.
How did they _recognise_ the DNA if they didn't already _have_ the DNA?

Now he is a sad broken man who can't do anything without his younger female companions telling how its done, is working for the aliens, and is trying to date one too?!
One of the reasons why Klingons in Star Trek are looking more and more alien
Yeah I agree. or they could have had it without any 'visual knowledge' yet and make it a paranoia-fueled thing. But uh... nah, just broken-Nick cuz obviously we cannot have a strong male character.
There super cheap so annoying we rarely ever even see a skrull
I've had enough of them trying to make is empathize with "bad guys" that haven't done anything to deserve it.
I thought the message with his wife was that she was an immigrant from a foreign nation and she decided to assimilate into modern day society and become educated in the ways of modern culture of America. Thus becoming a productive member of society and a respected citizen in America. Anyone else just me?
Secret invasion showed us that we actually need AI to replace these incompetent writers.
On the contrary could it be possible that they used AI to write it considering they AId that lame ass opening as well..
AI won't help against evil intentions. Will you guys NEVER understand that incompetence is NOT the real problem here?!
Or is the truth too hard to face?
It already looks like a woke Ai did it and their Ai is woke they programmed the thing
You shouldn't be at a loss. It is done on purpose.
It's a kids show you fool
They're just using it as a framework to say, "Everything you love is old hat, the new world we have created is taking over."
The bones of a good story are here, but the bones are all we get, because the meat is rotten.
@@twilitetide Well, there's that, too. It's like ogres, you see, the problem has layers. Also it eats people.

Obviously that's not good for creativity (or for a good adaptation), and must be at least partly why the post Endgame stuff has had a blah sameness to it.
