You do realize the broken male your talking about is a a man in his 70s who is also traumatized from getting blipped away for five. Even with all that he wasn’t even useless. Sure he didn’t beat the big bad and Giah did but so what. He’s an old man without super powers and he was still able to figure out Rhoads was a skrull, figured out a plan to stop gravick, and saved the president twice. Doesn’t sound useless to me.

It’s actually kind of impressive how they managed to tear down quite literally everything that made Nick Fury such an interesting character and an enigma. His mystique, his competence, his capabilities, even down to his eye patch, all ruined. At this point it’s very hard not to believe this was a professional demolition.
They robbed us of a great Nick Fury storyline. Samuel L Jackson is great in the role, but from what I see in the video (did not care to watch the show) he phoned his performance in. A shame.

I grew up loving Disney and nearly everything they made. How sad to see what they/them have become.
Have you ever seen the clip where in the lion king, the lion lays down a cloud of sparkling dust flys up in the air spalling the word "Sex"? How about the scene in the Aladin cartoon where Jasmin' looking out the curtain and you can hear the genie telling her to take her clothes off in a low voice? Disney has been up to some evil stuff for a long time now bro and I advise you to pay close attention to what your kids watch today.

Children are generally less observant than adults. Even if they notice these things in a cartoon, what kind of effect would that have on children that they saw the word sex or heard the sentence "take your clothes off"? Much worse than that is on television all the time and is easily accessible. I don't think Disney needs to be that cryptic about it. If anything, it's a couple of rogue cartoonists having a go at the world. I wouldn't read into that.

I was just watching a children's cartoon with a scene where an iguana went into turtle's shell from behind for whatever reason and it appeared as though the iguana was ramming it's head in and out of the turtle's behind. I think the show is called "Leo". How can you sit there and say that putting things no child should ever be exposed to at a tender age isn't a big deal? You think grown freaking adults are the ones watching these cartoons on repeat during their spare time? A couple of people literally sat there, animated and voiced these scenes frame by frame fully knowing the audience will be children, children, children.

I don't usually subscribe to the whole "MSHEU" thing, but Gravik losing that easily to G'iah when both had the same powers and he has the size advantage was very hard to argue against. Most of the time its not so blatant and just sounds like people hating on female characters for being powerful or even present at all like with female Loki and people feeling like they “emasculated” him to prop her up or getting angry at Jane Foster, Ironheart or Shuri who were already established in comics. Which in some ways I can see why people see it that way, but its a much grayer area than this farce. But Gravik and G’iah aren’t even the worst part of this series, it’s assassinating Fury’s character that is the WORST

I'm genuinely shocked Emilia gave such a bad performance. She is incredibly expressive in interviews, she really knows how to channel her charisma.
It's not botox, her eyebrows practically have their own fan page for how moveable they are.
None of that life she has comes through here. Considering they couldn't figure out the story til they were in the editing room the only thing I think could have happened is that the director had no clear vision for her character and gave her minimal direction at best, actively shit direction at worst. So she played it neutral because she had no overarching vision to work to. Or she played it in a way that didn't fit the story the editors ended up making, so they chose her worst takes because they fit better. Idk I just didn't think it was possible to fuck up if you put her in something but here we are. I'm still trying to figure out what happened.

Imagine for a second that you're tasked with making a spy thriller for Marvel. And imagine that it will star Nick Fury, so you already have a strategic genius in the script. And imagine also that the villains of this spy thriller are shape-shifting aliens, the hands-down easiest thing you can do to generate surprise twists in a spy thriller (so easy that literally every MI movie has relied on their impossible perfect face masks like a crutch). And now also ALSO imagine that this show will be named after an already well-received comic run that's basically done all the heavy lifting for you about twice, maybe even 3x over if you count the first Ultimates run. And NOW...imagine you fail to use ANY OF THAT effectively. That's Secret Invasion.
It blows my mind they threw over $200 million at this thing and had major actors involved and they didn't even bother to figure out the story before they started putting episodes out. I mean the level of sheer incompetence is staggering.
Yes its almost like Kathleen Kennedy is in charge. I was looking forward to this show, thought it would be good, as its Samuel L Jackson for heavens sake....I saw the reaction to the first episode and thought, I will wait till its all dropped and see what its like overall. Well here we are and its another show I will miss, on the pile with She Hulk, MoonKnight, Hawkeye, MsMarvel and films like the Eternals and Antman Quantamania or whatever its called. I also skipped Wakanda Forever as I could not see the point of a Black Panther film without Black Panther. The other issue I had with that one was the name, each time I see it my brain re arranges it so it says Wankhander Forever. I just cant take it seriously after that.....
Did you say... $200 million? This show had _FIVE writers_ credited for this entire season. If a mere 1% of that overall budget was spent on writers' salaries, each of the clowns who wrote this dreck received a $400,000 payday---and I guarantee you they didn't each spend 2000 hours (a standard "full time" working year) writing their respective episodes, so they were probably pulling in around $400/hour while writing this show. That's double what the average _cardiologist_ makes in America! Underpaid & overworked, my ass!

@@Neb_Raska I was thinking about it, but I just cant be bothered. I have never heard of the character and the mess they have made of Loki, Falcon n Winter Soldier etc, means my trust has gone. It might be a fine series but its not going to go anywhere else so it would at best be filler for me. I would rather see Isaacs in something really good than waste my time. I would have seen this series if it had come out before all the other rubbish, but not now....besides...Disney gets no money off me until they start listening to the audience again and go back to family values. There is little to no chance of that and at some point over the next ten years I expect them to go under as they just wont course correct...

Rhody being Skrull since Civil War destroys this entire show.
This means the Skrulls were already abducting and replacing government agents before the blip. When the blip happened, the Skrulls didn't know what was happening, and half of them disappeared without warning along with some of the ppl they abducted.
If they had someone strapped to a bed or chair and they blipped away, after 5 years, the chair or bed is not going to be in the exact same spot for them to blip right back into it with their restraints in place. Also, Skrulls who thought they were dying as they turned to dust would not have been focused on maintaining their disguise. They would have reappeared confused and in their Skrull form, and many of them would have been discovered.
Any Skrull who disappeared while sitting at home in their Skrull form would come back in that form and there would have been thousands of them who reappeared inside a house or apartment that had new occupants.
It's silly and absolute rubbish. Such nonsense only makes you think harder about how silly the blip itself was. There had to be pilots who blipped mid flight and many ppl who died on those flights when they went down. Then the ppl who blipped would come back in the same spot on a plane that has already been destroyed and cleaned up or they'd come back falling out of the sky.
I remember when Disney bought the rights to Marvel. Everybody around me was ecstatic, because Disney is a big player in Hollywood and has so much money, what could go wrong. I said they just buy everything, squeeze it dry and discard it, when they can't make enough money out of it anymore. Seems I was right. Very sad. Like your content. Keep it up and stay healthy.

The problem with Hollywood now is that it's run by people who have that bully mentality where in order for someone to look good, someone else has to be made to look bad. It exposes something deeply wrong with the people running the show.
No pun intended.
I mean, SLJ is in his what, 60s? 70s? He's old, yeah. And the idea of Nick Fury getting old, needing to come to terms with his mortality, having trust issues while needed to rely on younger people around him, all that's a great foundation for some drama in a show specifically focused on the character, but that isn't what they're doing. They're just using it as a framework to say, "Everything you love is old hat, the new world we have created is taking over."
The bones of a good story are here, but the bones are all we get, because the meat is rotten. Watching the MCU at this point is basically feeding on the corpse of the franchise. Well, I'm sorry, Disney, but I'm not a vulture.
I'd put it more simply and say it's just horrible writing, horrible execution. Back when Captain Marvel came out, it was being said that cheaper, less experienced writers were being hired, because they were cheaper. IMO it showed with Captain Marvel - disrespecting characters we already knew, hammering people in the head with messaging, re-use and outright ripping off better movies, trying hard to make dramatic speeches or be profound and failing miserably, forced relationship dynamics. All adds up to - awful. It's like eating from a cheap buffet where everything has been sitting for hours and nobody added seasoning.

I'll stand by this until the day I die: The MCU was over after Endgame. Anyone with common sense saw that trajectory years before Endgame even came out. Now all you can do is chuckle while you watch the whole thing crash and burn.
People may doubt you when you say that the trajectory was apparent years before Endgame, but starting in 2017 we got Thor Ragnarok, where Thor and Hulk were both turned into goofy comic relief while Valkyrie was depicted as the bestest evar.
And two years before that was the TV show Agent Carter, which was just a fantasy about women's perceived victimhood through history, but I can't speak much about that show because I stopped watching the moment our protagonist threatened to stab out the jugular vein of a random stranger with a fork for being rude to a waitress.
The irony is that they'll never see the reason why people have no problem with Peter Quill hooking up with various aliens and ultimately Gamora, yet are sick of things like cramming Nick Fury's marriage to a Skrull down their throats.
I have to credit Emilia Clarke for not changing her facial expression from the first episode in Game of Thrones.

They way they killed Maria Hill in this series is downright criminal. To take out one of your best and strongest female characters in that way was beyond disgraceful. That to me was the worse part of this show

When actors have no facial expressions, its because they aren't motivated or identifying with the script or character. We are taught that its better to be honest than it is to pretend (and believe me, this is true). This is, of course, no excuse. No excuse at all. But given the horrible script and political agenda? No one feels safe, free or creative in a Woke environment.
Considering the show was basically cobbled together in editing, the actors were most likely left in the dark by their directors while filming as well.

I stopped watching when Olivia Coleman was torturing that Skrull. It was horrendously bad. I gave up after Gravik had him shot. Wasted actions; even worse, time.
I really do not care if Disney goes under, I just don't want them to ruin the comics I grew up with. This has just become "Man bad, woman good: Now with superpowers!"
Marvel's initial success was due to them focusing on well known superheroes, making superb casting choices, making solid movies, while loosely stitching the stories together, building up to Thanos and the infinity stones. They abandoned all of those points after Endgame. We now have b-list heroes nobody cares about, there is no direction or story arc to care about, and the movies themselves are just low quality. They really needed a strong villain teaser IN or after Endgame. Doctor Doom or Galactus would have been good choices.
They could have easily transitioned to Galactus after Endgame. I.e. thanos wiping out half of life slowed Galactus down, but when the Avengers undid all that, they all but guaranteed his imminent arrival. Thanos would have been right but in the wrong way, and the Avengers were wrong but in the right way.
It could have been similar to what they did in Eternals but much better.
I actually like that premise.
But yeah, after Endgame, the Marvel movies have been stale and boring, save for the Spider-Man movies; those were fun.
Insane what they did to nick furry and even sadder that Jackson went along with it ...but that's Hollywood for you now

Ikr winter soldier was really peak of mcu. Even end game was not that great. I really want to know what is happening to them. They could have just introduced x men and mutants being a thing during the 5 yrs snap period due to huge amount of cosmic energy washing over earth. Ik it makes little sense but it was a good way to introduce them and then they could just make epilogue movies later.

There was nobody outside or on the pool deck. Gary saying the cruise line is tanking makes sense to me now.

This is why Disney needs to change by giving their filmmakers full creative freedom so we can have great movies with distinct visual styles, creative and consistent stories and character development again. Every single MCU project looks the same with the bland earthen look, aspect ratio, the generic quips and cringe jokes, tonally inconsistent stories, excessive CGI and toxic female characters where the DCEU's movies, while not all of them are great, each have a filmmaker's style. The MCU needs more experienced directors like Sam Mendes, Bong Joon-Ho, Guillermo del Toro, Christopher McQuarrie, the Daniels, the Wachowski Sisters, the Coen Brothers, Peter Jackson, Jordan Peele, Greta Gerwig, Ari Aster, Robert Eggers, Kathryn Bigelow, Matt Reeves, Boots Riley, Matthew Vaughn, James Cameron, David Cronenberg, Ridley Scott, Gore Verbinski, Neill Blomkamp, Andy Muschietti, Alex Garland, Guy Ritchie, David Yates, James Wan and Leigh Whannell so each movie has its own distinct style. For example, I want Christopher Nolan to do an MCU project. The writing in his movies is always great, a distinct visual style, quotable dialogue and amazing practical effects. As we all know, Nolan likes to do things for real. If you watch a behind the scenes video of Dunkirk, you’ll learn those were real planes flying above the actors. I really want him to make a Daredevil movie, I want a far darker, serious and more realistic tone compared to other MCU films and TV shows with no generic quips or cringe jokes, have it filmed on location, including in the actual Hell’s Kitchen, New York City, no science fiction elements, no fan service, beautiful cinematography, Nolan’s visual style, awesome stunts from the actors and a huge emphasis on story, characters and practical effects. Last Disney marvel movie I watched was Spider-Man NWH. And I think I’m officially done (and satisfied) with marvel movies. Now just looking forward to what James Gunn has to offer. I’m hoping that his DCU just becomes as exciting as the MCU when it first started

It’s crazy to me how the style has changed so radically since the inception of the MCU. I remember the first phase leading up to avengers being fun to watch, colorful on screen, funny seeing the interactions between all of our beloved characters. Phases 2 & 3 being darker, marred with espionage & war, but everything the russos did was well-made & great superhero content (particularly cap 2 & infinity war). But this phase, man… every scene is SO fucking dark, no fun character interactions, no color splash or pop, so much political messaging. It just stopped being fun years ago. What a waste.
At least we got to watch it before Disney ruined it

There’s so much potential in a story like this it’s crazy, it blows my mind how incompetent modern film writers are.
I sat in my car for like two minutes thinking of how I would write the story and I instantly had good character arcs, motivations, failures to be reckoned with.
Captain Marvel for all arrogance over her newfound godlike power, failed to protect the galaxy with infinity War. Her grappling with that failure, and her hubris that lead to it is a perfect way to redeem this character.
Give her the chance to have to do something even she thinks is impossible, and step up to the plate. Like cross a great amount of space in 5 minutes or something. Nick Cage could be the wise mentor figure for her as a fairly new hero, instead of them just being “besties”.
These things aren’t hard to come up with when your characters are allowed to have flaws.

Hell, Fury isn't even supposed to HAVE a wife! Him being a professional paranoid that dedicated his entire LIFE to S.H.I.E.L.D. and America the sacrifices that demanded from him is a major part of his character. Then they made him, as Gary put it, a pencil pusher who lost his eye to a stray cat. Now he is a sad broken man who can't do anything without his younger female companions telling how its done, is working for the aliens, and is trying to date one too?! Its almost like Disney is trying to push an agenda rather than staying true to their source material and tell good stories.

Specifically, it's been MCU producer Nate Moore saying he doesn't want their filmmakers to have read the comics (and Feige surely agrees with that). He's said it's because he doesn't want filmmakers to have their hearts set on a particular part of a comic they want to adapt. That speaks to me of him and the other MCU bigwigs wanting to keep a tight control over what's made and have the film/show meet their vision. Obviously that's not good for creativity (or for a good adaptation), and must be at least partly why the post Endgame stuff has had a blah sameness to it.
It's not hard, they don't want to, they actively tell the directors not to base it off the comics. Imagine paying billions for an IP and then shitting out a bastardized version that's not worth the toilet paper to wipe you a$$ with

My daughter and her friends went to see little mermaid the other day and said they left early and felt they should have just bought snacks and watched the older cartoon at home. Captain Marvel was the last movie he worked on, and I'm not sure how much executive control he had on the direction of the film.
I mean the Skrulls have always been tied to the F4 with Super Scrull or their most famous comic run Secret Invasion, which should have been the next big multi-phase storyline.
What pisses me off is that all of the potential is right there. They just need to jigsaw the pieces into place and make sure there is a coherent storyline through their "phases" while making each movie watchable by itself. It isn't hard, it just takes some time to set up. But I guess they can't even commit to that.

Im a woman, i enjoy strong female characters….but not DUMBASS SHIT thats been happening with Disney, juices christ. Best example of awesome female characters i can think of right now, Alita Battle Angel and Bayonetta, these 2 are my favourite female characters EVER. Their strong, inspiring and their stories are so cool.

I gave the first few D+ shows my genuine attention and even tho they were mediocre It wasn't unexpected and I remained a fan.i wanted to see the continuation of falcon and the winter soldier, wanda and vision, loki and even Hawkeye but ny heart is just broken now watching this universe I loved drown in the woke wave. Guardians 3 was likely it's last dying breath
